One is the entertainment section in the southwestern borough of Brooklyn in New York City. When I always think establishments like Luca's, what comes to mind are the famous Coney Island style hot-dogs with chili and onions. These are a staple at just about every greasy spoon. However, the menu selection at this restaurant is truly diversified, and reflects the Albanian heritage of the owners. If you're looking for a great all American food Luca's is the place for you, especially when it comes to breakfast. I decided to drop-in for lunch a few days ago, as my vehicle needed some maintenance done to it. After scanning the menu, I decided to order a Turkey Reuben sandwich, which is an off menu item. Instead of a classic Rueben, I decided to have them substitute turkey, with a side of Thousand-Island dressing. Likewise, I wanted to try their hash-brown potatoes as well. I have to admit that it tasted better than I expected. The service was fast and speedy, with no complaints. A friend of mine said that when he visited Luca's last year, the service was very slow. These two restaurants have nothing to do with each other except the same name.. if you go to the Ypsilanti website, they show the South Lyon menu. The Ypsilanti Lucas's just shows pictures of their menu.. i've been to both. Try the South Lyon Lucas restaurant you won't regret it.! read more

Another great visit to Lucas. Superb omelettes and a home run (again) with their 'Albanian Omelette'. Not unlike a Greek omelette you'd see elsewhere, their Albanian omelette hits on all cylinders with nicely seasoned tomatoes, spinach and the best Feta ever. Served with a generous amount of hash brown on the side, it's the best non-meat omelette anywhere around! I try to order other omelettes, but am always pulled back to the Albanian. The service is truly horrible now. Waited 10 minutes to get a menu. Ordered food and nothing for 15 more minutes. Had to ask for silverware. Took forever to get food and then it was only partially brought out and incorrect. No toast brought out, salad had wrong dressing and brought out with the meal, no refills. One of the kids egg skillet orders was completely undercooked with liquid runny eggs. Waited 10 minutes to get our bill. Be careful not to fall down in the parking lot and broken down walkway with uneven pavement. They stick you with a 20% tip with 4 people and know they don't have to serve you, so they don't - this place has real awful servers now. They didn't deserve any tip for the poor service delivered. I've been here a few times. It's your typical diner food. Every single time I've went, everything was great. Every waitress we've interacted with were always nice to my partner and I. They didn't rush us when we ordered, the food didn't take forever coming out to us, and the diner wasn't filthy every time we dined there. It's your average diner. read more

I was having a cup of coffee while waiting for an oil change on my car. When left to the bathroom, my coffe was gone and I was asked to leave since I can't just "sit there". I was shocked and asked to speak to a manager, the waitress assured me that she is the "manager". When asked for refill she said she cannot give me a refill because it will be my "3d one", while in reality I barely had a full cup. When asked for her name, she refused. BEWARE of additional tip being added to your bill!! After we left, the waitress added her own tip to our bill! Not only was the service not great, there were three of us, after ordering she brought out two plates from our order and practically threw them on the table and waved to someone in the parking lot and then ran outside, to greet and talk to someone. So, I've lived in Ypsilanti for over 10 years and have been eating at Luca's Coney Island since. I have had many meals here, but have found that I REALLY enjoy the chicken Caesar salad. Not exaggerating, I've eaten 50 of them over the years. A year ago, I would have given this meal and the staff at Luca's a 5 star rating. Today, unfortunately, I can not say the same. I ordered 2 chicken Caesar salads over the phone to pick up. I asked for a hard boiled egg in each, 2 Caesar dressings and 2 Greek dressings, as well as TWO pieces of pita bread. The woman on the other end was very rude and responded as if I were bothering her with my order. I figured "ah, she's probably busy". Nope, no customers in the restaurant, but I was at least able to see that this woman was not only rude to me, but the man in front of me paying for his meal as well. When I got home I opened my box and couldn't help but to laugh and get the FIRST EVER feeling that "I'm writing a review on this place" (the picture posted below). I was given I wish I had taken a picture of my last salad, but it was also garbage. The dressing was most certainly expired and they gave me a bunch of wilted room temperature lettuce. This is a $9 salad, mind you...$12 after the egg, dressing, and the pita bread. I happily let that incident slide expecting a restaurant to make a mistake once in a while and produce a less than stellar meal and AT LEAST the woman who took my money was friendly. My favorite greasy spoon in the area after Big Moe's closed. This place really hits the spot on the morning after with heaping amounts of tasty typical coney island fare for a good price. I really enjoy the waitstaff here as well - they get the food out in good time and are always really friendly. The omelettes are ginormous and could easily feed a family of four - I suggest these only to those who are either sharing or gastronomic daredevils (you know who you are). But usually when I call to place an order the person taking the order is rude and seems very impatient and when I go in it stays the same. Last time I went there I got two breakfast combos and it was terrible. They didn't give me the toast I asked for, they under cooked my eggs and my hasbrowns were hard to chew because they were hard. Four of us attended this restaurant for breakfast, Saturday, October 8, 2016. The condition of the sidewalks and parking lot is dangerous. One of our party sprained both ankles stepping and falling on a crack into a hole, also bruising his knee. The staff and manager were unconcerned, did not have a accident report available, hand-wrote something briefly and did not sign it. This has been reported to the City, the condition of the sidewalks and parking lot.. Please be careful if you decide to go there. The manager put up two cones up after the fall, but the cones were not even on the dangerous section. The food was average. By the way, we had to pay our $40 bill on top of it! Didn't even think to offer any discount on our bill. No information given on their insurance company to help with payment of the emergency room visit. read more
