The original Luchita's was one of the first Méxican restaurants in Cleveland. It's a family-owned upscale-casual-feeling restaurant, nicer than many neighborhood restaurants, but not overly expensive or overly dress-up. They offer delicious authentic dishes and friendly attentive service. On a weeknight in Shaker Square (Nov 2025), we had decided on Méxican food for dinner, and we found ample parking behind La Casa de Luchita's in the northwest D-quad of the Square, next to their more casual corner taco place on N. Moreland Blvd. We walked into the casual takeout-focussed taco place, Coyoacan, and found that it connected to the dine-in restaurant which has its own distinct full food and beverage menus. We had actually come for tacos at first, but one look at Luchita's full-menu and bright decor swept us past a colorful commemorative Día de los Muertos ofrenda altar, and into the restaurant-side :-) We started with a perfectly tangy margarita with the gentle bite of tequila that we love, made with Cointreau, rimmed with salt and garnished with fresh lime. And we also had several beers from México from the hand-written menu above the tiled bar: Mazatlán-bottled Pilsner-style Pacífico Clara, and a frosted glass (well, more than one :-) of Tecate lager from Baja. Both were icy cold and refreshing, and our servers were always there just as we wanted refills. It was a challenge to select among their dishes, especially those with mouth-watering photos on the menu, all under $23. We went with classics, and each was crafted with love and care. They started us with endless freshly-made thin crispy chips and red and green not-too-hot salsas. And we got a small-plate serving of $17 Taquitos Dorados, which was plenty as a main dish: lightly-spicy chicken picadillo, deeply-yet-subtly-flavored mole coloradito, and the lighter contrast of crema and some shredded queso fresco. The picadillo and mole were an amazing flavor combination! The $18 Chimichanga was a light and crispy deep-fried flour tortilla stuffed with our selection of flavorful lightly-spiced chorizo and savory potatoes. It was decorated with a dollop of fresh guacamole, striped with Méxican crema, and sprinkled with baby wild greens. We got two soft lush Tamales for a remarkable $8, beautifully presented under crema and red and green salsas, in creative homage to the flag of México. I should have asked more closely, it was the luscious recipe of the day. The $18 wet Burrito Mojado is truly enormous. It's a flour tortilla of refried red beans and our selection of juicy ground beef, enriched with melted cheese, lightened with shredded fresh lettuce and chopped tomatoes, sauced with a flavorful red mole. A mountain of savory flavors buried under a bright and brightly flavored mix of tomatoes, onions, and sharp cilantro. Shaker Square was rather busy on a weeknight, so if parking is full out front, there's more behind this Quad of shops. And the Rapid Blue-Line and Green-Line have a stop that's only a 2min walk from Luchita's. We loved the pleasant ambiance and delicious food and drinks, as Luchita's showed off its heritage as one of the first Mexican restaurants in Cleveland, founded in 1982 on 117th St, with several more locations around town over the years. Wait staff was so high they didn't remember to order our drinks and our entree. The food was a bad facsimile of what the amazing Luchitas used to be. Super expensive for garbage. This won't last another 6 months. So disappointed. Luchitas was a favorite and I wish I never would have come it was so bad. read more

Welcome back! There are several reasons for happiness; First, it does not require a drive through Woodmere to get wonderful Italian food. Second, the owner and kitchen have remained true to the standards set by Grandma and Grandpa. The service was great. Amy was a joy and fulfilled our wants and needs. While the opening menu has few choices, each one is a hit. The mole sauce is top quality as is the salsa and soup. It's wonderful to have a real Italian homemade dinner. read more

The food was terrible. I ordered vegetarian enchiladas. All I could taste was white potatoes. I opened one up and there were just small pieces of chopped onion and pepper. Had no flavor except for the mole sauce. Waitress tried to rectify but chef refused to give me any kind of discount. I ate my refried beans and about 1/2 of an enchilada, that's all I could stomach. She wanted to bag for me but there's no way I could eat it. Wasted$30 plus my Lyft ride there and back. read more

This was our second visit to Luchita's at Shaker Square. Food was consistently good on both visits. Our server was kind and attentive. Chile Rellenos is my go-to dish anywhere and Luchita's rellenos are superb. The salsa that is served with the complimentary chips is also fantastic and tastes very homemade. My son and I just went here and it was hands down one of the BEST MEALS WE HAVE HAD IN 2025. He had the octopus (pulpo) with chorizo and I had the classic chicken mole poblano. The ingredients, meats, sauces, spices, and presentation were of the highest quality....a welcome change from the formulaic, bland, Americanized Mexican restaurants around town. I loved that they had traditional Oaxacan food as well...the culinary gem of Mexico. I will probably just stick with a beer next time as the margaritas were just okay, but everything else was a perfect ten. Excellent service as well! We can't wait to come back again and again to taste everything on the menu. We live just a few blocks away and are thrilled with our new neighborhood gem. read more

We had dinner at Luchita's on Tuesday evening. Our service was terrific and the food was especially good. I had the Pollo en Mole which was scrumptious -the chicken was tender and moist. It makes me hungry just writing about it here. In addition, I had a margaretta on the rocks. The glass rim was tasty and the fruit in the glass was lovely. I look forward to many more dinners at this Shaker Square. read more

On first sight, the ambience of this new Luchita's at Shaker Square is very inviting and reminiscent of an authentic Mexican restaurant. The service is very attentive and eager to please. Most importantly, our food was extraordinary. Chilies Rellenos exactly the way they should be and such a remembrance of that dish we enjoyed in Cabo San Lucas.
