Honestly, hands down my FAVORITE breakfast burrito place. Whenever I get a breakfast burrito I always compare it to Lucky Boy! I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito Monday afternoon around 3pm. I called in for my order and was there within 15 minutes. The burrito was still hot and there was no line. I've previously been this OG location many times when I used to live in SGV, so this review is way overdo! The price definitely went up now at $12 but it is still a good deal. The burrito can definitely give you two meals out of it. I asked for the potatoes to be cooked well done so it was not gooey. The mix of sausage, cheese, egg and potato hits the spot. Let's not forget about the salsa. Their salsa sometimes can be a hit or miss. When it's a hit, it's a real hit! But when it's not, it's quite sad. Glad this time the salsa was a hit! I honestly think it depends on the day or who makes it because sometimes it doesn't give you the kick of spice that you want, and sometimes it does. They even started selling their salsa's for $0.50 if you wanted extra. I've also tired the chorizo breakfast burrito as well, it is a little more saucy but also as yummy! Overall, come by and give them a try! They have parking and there is street parking nearby if you have issues. I always phone in just in case because if there is a line, it takes them a bit longer. I saw they also opened up a second location, though I am not sure when they did. Yep - this is the spot! I've been living in Pasadena for over 5 years now and am so grateful that this city has not 1 but 2 locations! Their bacon breakfast burrito is absolutely amazing! It's been several years since I've been back here. After fasting for 15 hours before surgery, this was my first real meal post-op, and I couldn't resist the going to Lucky Boy in Pasadena. I ordered the Bacon, Avocado Burger. Probably not the healthiest choice on the menu, but if you're looking for good comfort food, this one hits the spot. The burger was massive! I could barely get a full bite trying to include everything between the buns, but every bite was delicious. I paired it with their zucchini fries, crispy and perfectly golden. Came here the other night and just wanted an asada burrito. Got home to find out that I got a fully uncut piece of a carne asada and it wasn't even seasoned lmao and the beans were clumped up on one side of the burrito. It was such a waste of $15. It didn't even look like the meat was cooked on a flat top. No char at all and it was just grey meat. It's always "Tops vs. Lucky Boy" but the thing is Tops stays consistent. Very disappointed. The perfect early morning OR late night spot in Pasadena to satisfy your cravings is...Lucky Boy! There is no denying that they are known for their famous breakfast burrito...its true! I've only had the pleasure of knowing this place for a couple of years but it quickly became a staple in my brain whenever I think of burritos, burgers, or onion rings. They are open 6 AM to 12 AM every day and are a reliable place to count on for enormous portions and magic hangover-cure food at reasonable prices (especially in LA and Pasadena). I've been here a handful of times, all at different times in the day and the quality is great. It's always served hot and ready to eat. You never have to ask for extra sauce or napkins because the staff here just...understand you completely! They are so generous with portions and are so thoughtful! I mean...the breakfast burrito is the size of my forearm! Other than their famous burrito or hamburger, I want to put it out there that they should update their sign to having the BEST onion rings, too. I've had my fair share of onion rings in my lifetime but Lucky Boy's onion rings just top all of the onion rings I've ever had. I love Lucky Boy and eat here often. I normally order the bacon breakfast burrito without cheese. It is the best breakfast burrito I've had. It is filled with crispy bacon, hash browns and eggs. It is a huge burrito that I always share with my boyfriend and when we eat half an order for breakfast, we get so full that we skip lunch. I've also had their bacon breakfast plate which is pretty much everything that comes in the breakfast burrito, but served plated with toast instead of wrapped in a tortilla. Came here off a recommendation from my brother-in-law as we were chatting about breakfast burritos. He said Lucky Boy is well known in LA for the breakfast burritos so I knew I had to try it. Ended up ordering a bunch the next day so us and the fiancées could feast as I don't think we have anything similar to this in the Bay Area. Stopped by around 12pm, to a decent amount of people lined up outside and seated inside. Old school diner vibe, order outside through the window and wait for your number to be called. You can actually order ahead online which could save you the wait. To-go order: - Asada breakfast burrito - Ham & egg breakfast burrito - Sausage & egg breakfast burrito - Zucchini Fries Brought everything home and it was still warm. Got to eating and the first thing I noticed was it was pretty dry. For sure hefty with the portion size and fairly priced at around $11-$15, but you really need salsa or some sort of sauce with each bite. While I appreciate them not skimping on ingredients, the cheese was just way too much and clumpy. Also, the ham is in large flat slices, like from a carved ham, but the chunks you get in some bites were just too thick or chewy. Need to get thinner ham or chop it up. Carne asada had the same dry issue. No doubt you get your moneys worth and a full stomach, but at the risk of clogging your arteries or choking. read more

Sister surprised me with a breakfast burrito from here years later and it was a completely different experience. It was packed with crispy, hot bacon and every bite was enjoyable. Problem was that she brought me another a week later and this one didn't have the bacon quite as crispy. Some parts were a bit under-cooked. Overall, this spot has delivered a solid breakfast burrito 33% of the time. Rookie numbers lol. I try to avoid places that serve food inconsistently. They have a lot of other options, but they seem to be popular for their breakfast burritos. I'd stick with that here, if you're feeling lucky of course hehe. Expenses: 0/1 Not sure how much the burritos are anymore, but regardless of whether they cost $8 or $14, the inconsistency issue makes is so that it's not worth it for me personally. Two friends and I went to Lucky Boy at around 1pm craving breakfast burritos, which they serve all day. Service was very quick, I think it took less than 5 minutes for my order to be ready ( two Famous Breakfast Burritos, one with bacon and one with bacon & sausage). They come with a sauce on the side which I think is what made this burrito so memorable. It adds a lovely kick and flavor to the burrito, and keeps it from feeling too dry as you eat it. I came on a Thursday afternoon and seeing the customers inside really warmed my heart. It was quintessential Los Angeles. An elderly woman with her family, a single mom and her kid, couple kids with a skateboard, couple guys on their lunch break, just some dude in the corner who you could tell has been going here for years or decades. For that alone i wish Lucky Boy nothing but continued success. This review is for their breakfast burrito, which really is more like a bacon burrito. It's awful. Los Angeles is a city of breakfast burritos, and i can see on some level why Lucky Boy's is so well-known. It appears gargantuan, but thats really a result of the 1/3-1/2 pound of bacon strips they stick in there. Maybe getting served a 1/2 pound of crispy bacon was a cool idea in the mid 90's, but so was MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. The bacon was quite crispy and had a nice texture, it barely had any flavor. A lack of smokiness or saltiness. With incredibly poor judgement, Lucky Boy's BB uses potatoes instead of hash browns or tots. And these potatoes are so boring and bland they might get kicked off NPR. These were mushy, soft, flavorless potatoes. It was a good quality tortilla. The tortilla has to be strong to accommodate the slab of bacon and potatoes, and it does its job well. The eggs and cheese - pretty important parts of the "breakfast" in breakfast burrito - were completely dislocated and pushed out by the slab of bacon and awful potatoes. The eggs and cheese serve to bind a breakfast burrito together, not having this critical component is like having a pizza without cheese or sauce. And when your the ratio of your breakfast burrito by weight is 50% bacon, 45% potatoes, and 5% eggs & cheese, what do you expect? This was one of the worst breakfast burrito's ive ever had - period. For good breakfast burritos: Flookys in the SFV, Nate's in Seal beach, and that sandwich place with 5000 reviews in Indio good burritos: Los Cincos Puntos, La Azteca Tortilleria, and Big Burrito in canoga park. again: Lucky Boy's breakfast burrito is a disgrace. read more

Not sure why I haven't made it here sooner, but better late than never! I grabbed the bacon breakfast burrito, and man, it's a beast. One of those meals that'll keep you full for the entire day. They don't mess around with portions. What I really appreciated was how generous they are with the salsa--they know what's up! If you're like me and like your food drenched in hot sauce, you'll love how they hook you up with a good amount. We took our son there a couple days later and he ordered the fish burrito. What an utter disappointment!! It should have been called a LETTUCE burrito because the 2 small pieces of fried fish hardly made it a fish burrito. I couldn't believe how much lettuce was in that tortilla. Lucky Boy has probably the best bang-for-your-buck breakfast burrito you will find in the SGV, but do note that the size and taste may vary depending on the day/who is making the burritos. The first time I went in the evening, the burrito we got was huge and the size of a small baby, but it was underwhelming in flavor and kind of soggy. My boyfriend and I were not able to finish it in one sitting because that's how huge it was. This second time we went on a Sunday morning, we got the bacon breakfast burrito and it was crispy/flavorful but smaller than our first visit (like a standard burrito size). My fiance and I were able to split the burrito and finish our respective halves easily this time without feeling disgustingly full afterwards, so the size truly does vary. It tastes good with their ranch dressing, so I do recommend splurging 50 cents for the ranch to pair with it or you can try their original salsas. Do note that if you pay for ranch though, they will only give you 1 container of salsa (normally they give you 3 containers of salsa, so you're just paying to replace some of the salsa with ranch). Lucky Boy is a simple, old-fashioned burger and assorted Mexican fast food restaurant. It's very cheap, and the burgers are really good. The bun is large and the patty fits nicely. Since it's 1/4 lb, the patty is on the thin side. I get my cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. There's a ton of lettuce and the tomato slices are thick, so you can feel good about eating them. They're not what I would call "gourmet" burgers, but it's best compared to similarly priced burgers (about $7) and on that basis I give it 5 stars. Wanted to try a fish burrito and 80% of the burrito was lettuce. Made everything cold and soggy. This is only about half of the lettuce I took out. Over all I just wouldn't recommend that burrito. They make all the ingredients all morning so the burrito is done within minutes. The breakfast burrito was solid, but not the best I've had. My favorite is still back in my hometown chino hills called bravo burgers. The egg was okay. Could have been less dry. A lil overcooked. The bacon could be crispier and it's cut it really small. I usually prefer it long strips. Could have more cheese as well. Also I'm not a huge fan of the salsa. It was okay. Not enough flavor and not spicy.
