Egg roll

I just tried Lucky Boy for the first time. It's small and only open 11-3. The interior is tidy with an aesthetic that brought me back to places I frequented in the 80s! But the immediate warm greeting I got was much friendlier. The menu is simple and the prices are great. I got an egg foo young burger and an egg roll to go. I didn't have long to wait and the food was tasty and filling. So glad I finally stopped in.

My first visit to this establishment was on November 30, 2025. It has nice parking and good signage. It's a small restaurant with seating of about 20 people. Greeted by the head chef and owner. Decor is casual and relaxed. The menu has a combination of foods in Chinese style, and various hamburgers. I had an egg foo young hamburger and was absolutely delighted and surprised with it. The prices here are excellent. This is casual dining with excellent food at wonderful prices. I absolutely recommend it.

Everything was very tasty, the food comes out hot and fresh, the owners are very nice and quick with cooking!

It's Valentine's Day 2024, and Manana Cafe is reporting on a local restaurant that we really really love. Lucky Boy was the site of our first podcast broadcast on June 1, 2022. So, it was time for an updated report as we brought some new members of the VA Creative Writing Group there for the first time. Needless to say, we all enjoyed our Egg Foo Young burgers, and I think you will, too. Tasty food, friendly owners, and an incredibly unique ambiance that has been used twice as a movie set. So you get what you pay for right? Lucky Boy is probably the only place in town you can still get a full meal for so cheap. It is very much American Chinese food, sugary sauces and fried everything but you don't come to Lucky Boy expecting anything else. It is a great cheap eat, quick and friendly. The owners are super sweet and definitely worth chatting with. I just love how walking into the space is like jumping back a few decades. It is also just kind of cool how much attention it gets from local artists as well as big time movie producers. It's quirky and random. Remember to bring cash because if not you will miss out. To be fully honest, it took me years of living blocks away before I was able to check it out mostly because I never ever have cash on me.

Hole in a wall place. Where else could you get a full meal that fits a budget of $5 these days?!? The place isn't luxurious or anything...but does the job of curbing your hunger pretty well! You get a basic choice of hamburger or Chinese meal..and are able to feel satisfied financially and physically. The owners are nice, down to earth Chinese couple. They take the time to greet their customers as well. It seems they recognize their regular customers, too. Overall, great, awesome place to stop by for lunch. Not too far from home...and especially on the day when you feel like pinching pennies to save up some money. P.S. cash only! But the Costa are so affordable..so you don't need cards at all .really!

Chicken lo mein

Went there & got lucky fried rice, chicken lo mein, egg roll, wontons& green chile burger. My coworker said the burger was a bit dry but wontons, fried rice, lo mein & eggroll were pretty good! The dishes don't have a lot of soy sauce which is nice because u can customize yourself. I'll go there again to try something else. Be aware that prices aren't the same on the menu posted. Both fried rice & lo mein were each $8.... Which is pretty reasonable. They give u a lot!

This Chinese eatery is a staple in NM. It's a wonder they haven't been in Diners, Drive in's and Dives yet! It looks pretty shabby outside and inside BUT the food is amazing and the prices will have you double blinking to make sure they are really that cheap. My boyfriend has been coming here over 30 years since he was a child. The same 2 people have owned and cooked fresh since the beginning. I always get the combo sweet and sour chicken plate. Chicken pieces are extremely big and juicy. I order a separate LUCKY FRIED RICE over their regular fried rice everytime because it has more veggies and a better taste. They also have green Chile cheeseburgers on the menu which I believe is the best in abq! We got all this food plus milkshakes in the photo for 19 dollars!! People saying its frozen from Costco dont know the couple who owns it. They make everything by hand every morning. Give it a try. The price alone is worth it!

My husband and I finally decided to try this place since the owner of Sushi Xuan recommended it…read more Boy, what a disappointment! First off, we ordered the vegetable egg rolls for an appetizer, I do not recommend them since they are frozen ones. They were tasteless while the interior of these rolls were mushy, though the duck sauce was quite tasty it could not overcome these appetizers. Our entrees came next, my husband asked about the serving size and he was told a plate only fed one person, not true. The plate serves two. Anyway, the Kung Pao Chicken has really good flavor, was spicy and served with a side of steamed white rice. My husband's entree was Orange Chicken and nothing spectacular about it. But what will keep us from ever going back was that as we sat in the restaurant eating I started to smell cigarette smoke. It became more pronounced and I realized they were smoking in the kitchen and had the door open to where we were sitting. With that revelation my husband quickly got us out of there...the cigarette smoking inside the kitchen is a total dealbreaker.

I love this restaurant, some of the best dim sum I've ever eaten. I noticed it's been closed…read more.. does anyone know why?

Still a solid place to get dim sum! Ofc nothing beats the Bay Area but this is a decent spot. We…read moreorder: pork spareribs in black bean sauce 4/5: the flavor was good but the pork had little slivers of bone. must be the way it was cut so be careful! beef rolled noodles 2/5: maybe it was just me but i prefer the meat to be ground up beef (not hamburger) but this beef was weirdly chopped or cooked. didn't really like it. chinese donut rolled noodle 5/5: this was done well. not bad with the plum sauce but a peanut butter sauce would be so much better! soy sauce noodles 4/5: ordered this for our cutie patootie grandson. he loves the noodles! simple chinese noodle dish done well with good balance of salty sweet. beef chow fun dry 3/5: the noodles tasted a little old today but the flavor was good. had a nice "wok hay" but again too bad the noodles didn't seem fresh today. lotus wrapped sticky rice 2/5: the sticky rice was good but the wrapper had a funny smell so we sent it back. The wait staff was nice to give us another one cuz we sent it back, but it came back again with the same smell so we were worried but it tasted fine and we didn't get sick hahahaha. Wouldn't order it again tho because of the smell. steam chicken feet 5/5: nicely steamed with a spicy kick. steamed egg yolk bun 4/5: this is the main reason we come here! love the topping on the bun and the flavors of the steamed egg yolk. Normally it's a bit runnier which would make it a 5 but it was a bit oversteamed today. IT Dim Sum is a great choice if you're craving dim sum in the ABQ area. Haven't found another spot to beat it yet so it's our go to spot when we're in town!
