Lucky was the original name of this store, when Albertson's bought them they screwed it all up. Since the Lucky brand has been back, "Three's a Crowd" is back, and they seem to care a little more about customer service. Formerly Albertsons, this was the first time we had been at the store under the Lucky name. What's cool about this visit is that this is essentially Albertsons with lower prices and shorter lines/more staff at the front. As a grocery store, it isn't bad. You can find generally fresh produce and have a good selection. The meat section isn't great, definitely taking a star off for that. But they have a natural food section (smallish, but they have one), and a diet food section. You used to be able to find fat free shreeded mozzerella, which is now gone. But they have a bunch of things I can't find anywhere else yet or are generally hard to find (Back to Nature Bakery Squares, No Pudge in all three flavors, and so on). So while I really feel this is a 3 star place, I'm upping it a star just for that. And the Coinstar (although today it was busted for gift certificates and you could only get cash - thus suckered into their 10% fee - ugh). Update: The chicken we got here was bad the same day we bought it (although the "best before" date was several days into the future). And nothing smells worse than off chicken. -1 star, and lifetime ban on meat from here. read more

Lowering my rating for this store because they still are allowing pets into the store! Gross!! The employees cannot say anything and when you call corporate they just say, only managers can ask if the pet is a service pet and if the pet owner says yes, that's it. The store cannot kick them out. So I'm tempted to bring my bulldog in and when they ask if she is a service animal, I will just lie and say yes and they cannot do anything about it. Today is supposed to be the worst day to shop at the market. Why? Because usually all the last-minute shoppers are pushing their way around the store looking for food to cook for the big feast. However, this was not the case at this particular Lucky location. After searching far and wide for LAVENDER (I searched several different markets), I was happy to find it at this location... AND on SALE! It is indeed a happy Thanksgiving. Prices are still a little more expensive than Safeway. I would say you're most likely getting somewhat better quality here. For brand name items, go to Safeway and save a few buckeroos. Parking can be crazy... at least on Thanksgiving, but we scored pretty big because we came at the right time. The assistant manager on this branch is so rude and arrogant. I had a chance to talk to him last 8/25/20 with regard to the incident that occurred in their store 2 days prior. A couple of pack bottled waters had fallen on me while I was grabbing a pack due to loose stacking. They landed on my right leg and caused me some bruises due to impact. I'm glad some employees extended their help to me and I was asked what happened. I was told from one who attended to me that someone from management will call me the next day to confirm the incident. Two days had passed but no one calls so I decided to go back to the store and talked to whoever was responsible. Then I was presented this Assistant Manager. During my conversation with him, I mentioned if they can offer any ointment that I can apply to my bruises as a complimentary but he rudely answered, "No, you can buy it for yourself". He even showed me his arrogance when he provoked me to get a lawyer. To end discussion with him and because I don't want myself to stoop down to his level, I just stepped out. This assistant manager while he was talking to me didn't wear any face covering or mask when he should be the one to implement protocols in their store to help reduce infection due to covid-19. They have some good meat sales, and a decent produce section. As far as selection goes, it's good. They aisle set-up is a bit wonky, so if it's your first time, prepare to wander a bit. Example: The soda, water, and kool-aide/water enhancers are all in different locations. Also, the ginger ale is near the alcohol, so if you can't find it in the soda aisle, pop over to the booze section. The employees that I've dealt with have been super nice. I've been through Maria's line a couple times, and she's never failed to be fast, friendly, and professional. The parking lot - ugh. It doesn't look like it should be a nightmare, yet it manages to be anyway. Out of three visits, I've seen two fender benders and one near miss. read more

I seen expired food in the baking isle. Told customer service about it but nothing was done about it. I went there the next week and the expired food hadn't been removed. I bought Polveron Sticks here a lot. On 3 different occasions I found white spotted mold on it when I opened the wrapper. Again, told customer service about it but the food wasn't removed from the shelves after the rep said he would remove it from the shelves. Some of the evening and early morning employees are rude. She helped a man who walked up after me and then after he left to shop while she filled his order Mary Jane and three other ladies continued to leave me standing there without asking to help me. With abundant parking spaces at all times, this is my favorite Lucky's location. I'm usually coming later at night so the left entrance is the only one that's open at the wee hours of the night. They have some awesome sales on meats, but sometimes they can be overpriced. You can usually find your staples here, but the proportions can be of. I tried to find a 1lbs pound bag of dry pintos, but to no avail. There's lots of self checkout stands, so if you've been around the block, you can be outta here in a few minutes. There's usually never a line because of those self checkouts. There's also a mini bank near the front as well as your quarter draining crane machines. During peak hours, you can expect to find little kids near the front door selling bars if chocolate for their school. Do your part in your community and buy a few. read more

Bought 2 lbs of crawfish from the "fresh" seafood section and it was no good. It smelled extra fishy but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt since it was crawfish. After cooking it, it still smelled bad. I tasted it and my nose was right. Totally wasted my money. I had to throw out the whole two pounds. I get it, it's Valentine's Day. But do they need to dedicate 1 cashier to only accept "flower" purchase when there are only 2 more cashiers opened? The "flower" cashier kept screaming out to people trying to get to her station "flowers" only!.. when no one is buying flowers! The other cashiers had more then 4 people waiting in line, and my cashier even picked up the phone to take orders, without writing it down, tried to repeat the order to the bagger and getting it wrong. This is my family's go-to grocery store, and it has been for over a decade! After the renovation, I feel like they added so much more choices for customers to pick from. The overall appearance is more modern and clean, even though I did not mind the pre-renovation appearance. Products from the store can seem prjcy at tines, but they usually have a big rotation of deals/sales to utilize! I haven't had a terrible experience with any of the employees here. Most staff seem relatively positive or at least neutral in terms of attitude. I wanted my Lucky's store to stock up on a type of chips, and it soon appeared on shelves in under 2 weeks. This review is solely on the Customer Service department - why bother even to have a Customer Svc dept when no one is hardly there. Never know when someone will be able to assist you. Been to Customer Svc desk twice, first time in AM hour like 8:30 and was told short handed and won't be able to help me for another hour and a half or longer. Ok so come back next day @ 3:30pm, behold the some respond/answer "short handed and will have to wait after 5pm for any assistance. Is this one BIG JOKE!!!!! What can I say about this supermarket other than it is convenient and affordable!! Compared to other chain supermarkets, Lucky's is cheaper. This location also has a self-checkout cashier, even better; I usually check out myself without waiting for a cashier. Inside, there is a Wells Fargo counter, also you can rent a movie from the movie-rental machine. On weekends, the supermarket sells barbecue outside the store, not bad. read more

This Luckys is gigantic. I drive all the way from Brisbane to come here strictly for their huge selection and ample parking. Their produce is always fresh and their meat too - in fact, I notice that Safeway tends to sell meat that is expiring the same day you're buying it, but not Luckys - theirs is generally days away from expiration, which says alot about the freshness of everything they sell. I started coming here more since I realized that their meat is sorta cheaper than Safeway. Also, at least their aisles aren't narrow as the Safeway close to my house. I feel like I save more here too and I don't even need to put my phone number just to get the discounts. Love their self check out too especially if you are buying a few things and don't have to wait in line. To my pleasant surprise i found a nicely remodeled more modern Lucky. Many more food and deli options. Much better selection of things. i shop for groceries at only two locations: trader joe's and this lucky store. i've never had an unpleasant experience shopping for my groceries at this lucky location. here are the plusses for me: + it's a huge and clean space. + fresh fruit and veggies all the time; variety of meat selections; more than decent international food section: chinese, filipino, korean, japanese, indian, kosher, hispanic food items available. just wished they also sold bagoong. + friendly and helpful employees. no lie. every time i've asked for help to find an item. the "lucky" associate drops what they're doing and literally has walked to the aisle or aisles with me. i'm asked each time at checkout if i need help to my car. i always say no thanks b/c i have kids and they can help unload the bags. it's the price of admission for a car ride home...just kidding...however, there was an instance when i was ready to unload my bags into my car when an associate came by to do it himself without being asked and returned my cart for me...and not in an emo-i-hate-this-job-can't-wait-to-save-enough-money-to-do-what-i-really-want-to-do way but in a hey-can-u-believe-the-weather-is-finally-warming-up-did-u-find-everything-ok way. + no loyalty card needed. i no longer need to carry a loyalty card with me when I shop, and I no longer have to remember which phone number was used to open the preferred customer account 2-yrs ago when i forget the loyalty card. all sale prices register automatically at the checkout for those sale items. + plenty of parking; although, there's always a bottle neck at the main entrance. i try to enter at the far end by the blockbuster. + they credit back 5 cents to your total per reusable bag you bring for your groceries. it's hardly anything, but i think it's a nice gesture. read more

Checkout person at Self-Check, I had tomatoes that scanned twice and decided to not purchase them. I noticed the "delete item" button but it wouldn't work, figured the checkout person needed to put in some code. I asked her "Can you please void these tomatoes?" and I asked her NICELY. She was staring at her phone, walked up to me and with the nastiest tone replies "YOU'RE going to void them" then harshly instructed me to press the delete button item. Then continued to talk down to me about how they were voided. Then abruptly walks away still staring at her cell phone. But that left me with the second void I needed, again I pressed the "delete item" button and it didn't work. I turned to her and asked "Can you help me with the second void?" and before I could explain that button wasn't working she shot me a look and rudely said "I'm helping him right now" then turned to a man who she very clearly was not talking to (she was still staring at her cell phone) and asked him if she could help him. By the time she got to me again it was just such a ridiculous amount of rudeness and condescending that I couldn't even respond to it, I was so angry!!!! I have never had such a shitty experience at this Lucky's and can't remember the last time I wanted to slap the rudeness out of someone. You guys need to get rid of her. read more

About one month back, a friend and I went to the Lucky located in Daly City to buy beer. The store is about two minutes away from my house and we wanted to have a pre-game (drink early) before watching the Pacquiao fight at my house. When I came to the register and placed the two dozen of Coronas on the check isle, the employee behind the register asked to see my friend's ID. My friend and I both looked at each other with a puzzled face and asked the Lucky employee why she needed to see my friend's ID, since he wasn't purchasing the beer or holding the alcohol to bring it to the check isle. The employee stated "its store policy to check the people, who come with the individual purchasing alcohol." Though my friend is twenty-three, he didn't carry his wallet with him in the store and left the wallet at my house, because I told him I would pay for the beers and he wouldn't have to worry about it. Since my friend didn't bring his ID with him, I was denied to buy alcohol. Feeling frustrated and discontent about ever going to Lucky again, my friend and I decided to travel five minutes further to see if we would have the same result at the Lucky in Pacifica. Accompanied with the same friend as earlier, I went inside the Lucky located in Pacifica, walked to the check isle with one dozen of Coronas in each hand and placed the beers at the register. After showing my ID, the employee at the register started to scan the beers and I was able to purchase alcohol. While handing over money to pay for the beer, I asked the Lucky employee from Pacifica "Aren't you guys suppose to check for the IDs of the people who come in with me" which the Lucky employee started to laugh and said "why would I do that?" Which brings me to tonight. Thirty minutes ago my girlfriend and I, both over the age of twenty-one and working professionals, walked into the Lucky located in Daly City looking to buy two bottles of wine. When my girlfriend and I arrived at the check isle, I placed the bottles of wine on the checkout, which the employee at the register asks for the IDs of my girlfriend and I. As luck would have it, my girlfriend didn't bring her purse with her, and I was once again denied to purchase alcohol. My girlfriend and I then drove back home and picked up my girlfriend's purse to buy the two bottles of wine. After showing both our IDs we were able to purchase the wine. I then asked the Lucky employee behind the register "If I came in here with my thirteen year old nephew would I be able to purchase the alcohol" which she stated, "Yes." I think the store policy for purchasing alcohol at the Lucky in Daly City is simply ridicules! Not having people being able to purchase alcohol if the people, who come in with them don't have their IDs is absurd. Next time I'll just go to Safeway. read more

Just went there and ordered two different pasta salads. When I started eating I noticed pieces of meat in both. At best they're thoughtless enough to put vegetarian items in deli trays next to non-vegetarian items and expect no spillover. At worst they're sloppy during preparation of the items. Some people have strict diets and can't accept meat (or other things) in their food. This is no way to run a business -- get a clue. read more

Victor has worked here for over 35 years. Super thin, work ethic that is off the hook, busy salt and pepper hair. The guy is amazing and a kind spirit. Without him on board, my shopping experience is somewhat dismal. They ought to have employee of the month, year, and decade. He would get my vote on all categories. Like all corporations the owners of Lucky have a handful of large supermarkets in their portfolio. They old timers are getting nudged out, with offers of tiny retirement packages. They are begging for new hires, offering low pay, maximun 32 hours per week, hence no benefits. It is pathetic. I feel so sorry for the employees, especially the dedicated ones like Victor. They are focused on busting the union. The store is spacious and clean. But go there to experience the service of Victor, proud and friendly Chinese man. read more

The location has upgraded. However the unbelievable prices are so over rated it's way too high. I like organic veggies & fruits and other organic items. this is regarding the staff of the Pharmacy.... went in to purchase some medical tape & after selecting a few of the tapes not knowing which one i need. walked to the check out counter & stood there trying to get the two clerks attention, one pharmacists in white coat the other regular street clothing, they would not lift their heads & acted like no one was there! RUDE! left them on counter & left, total help at the Walgreens in the westlake mall, Don't patronize the Lucky Pharm, they are total jerks & not helpful at all & expensive! One of the best, cleanest and organized Lucky's I've ever been to. It's moe upscale compared to the other stores. They now have hot foods you can buy at the deli and the produce section is huge. The selection of meats is much better than the Lucky's in Pacifica (now closed). I enjoy coming here because they always have what I want, like a great selection in teas. I like the fact that they have a lot of cashiers so I'm not usually waiting in a long line. I just wish I lived closer to the store. I'm in Daly City, just on the Serramonte side. I know I know, I'm. This store is constantly a disappointment. It only carries items that cater to the very lowest common denominator. There's virtually no choice between brands, and I can find fewer and fewer of my regular items there. Their natural and organic foods section is almost non-existent. They do seem to be making an effort with the produce, but they don't carry heirloom tomatoes, rhubarb, pink lady apples, fennel, endive, escarole (regularly) and some other "specialty" produce items. There seems to be more potato chips than anything else. There are a couple of very nice people working there, but on the whole, the staff is clueless. I'm aching for a Whole Foods to move into our area. There's a perfect place over by Stonestown in Park Merced! read more
