If i could give this place zero stars i would.... They are extremely rude and barely give you food and sometimes the food is cold and old I'm assuming because they are expensive for the small amount of food and they don't want to give you soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce i would not recommend going there if you like Chinese food Try Jade palace or Tasty Szechuan

The food is good... but the lady that served me was pretty weak.. she really was rushing me and got mad you understood B instead of C.. I reminded her it was a C and she just put 5 little pcs of salt and pepper chicken on my plate... I was kinda but hurt about it.. but the food is really good.. the location is ok if you from the hood you won't mind... but if you not..

I purchased a big container of salt and pepper chicken they literally gave me one soy sauce , one sweet and sour and one hot mustard and made me pay 1 dollar additional per sauce .. won't be coming here again . We spend our money and they are stingy with the sauce . Wish I could be aye them negative 5

Best Chinese food in the area! My dad and I have been coming here for years. It's really one of the few places I will eat Chinese in the east. The ladies in there as so kind and welcoming, they always remember you even if it's been a long time and throw in something extra because they appreciate you or maybe I'm just a favorite lol! Some of the best prices for the quantity of food. They have up to a main with three sides, that's rice and/or chow neon and 3 different sides! I always get half rice half noodles, salt and pepper chicken it's the best, and another type of chicken or dry fried ribs. All delicious! They also have great appetizers like the pot stickers and egg rolls. My dad loves the wonton soup, and they even have amazing honey walnut prawns. They make the food fresh so sometimes there is a wait for the food to be cooked but I never mind it at all! There is no seating inside but don't let that deter you from trying this place. It's the true Gem of foothill square IYKYK! There's no pictures of the food because I couldn't wait to eat, that's how good this place is. Definitely recommend.

    Stale food from yesterday.

Stay away from this place. $18.59. The cherry of this bad review they only give you one sweet and sour pack and a fork. https://ring.com/share/98baff83-5ddb-4f00-936b-42534e76e8ca Watch why I throw this garbage live to the dogs

I used to live in Los Angeles and they're known for their dumplings up in the Pasadena San Gabriel area and these ones reminded me of that.. This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

Wife and I went for a quick Tuesday lunch and had Jook and Fun. For the Jook, we had Fish Filet Jook with Chinese Doughnut for dipping. For the Fun, we had Beef and Mushroom Cheong Fun that had smooth beef and shitake mushrooms that you can taste. Gum Kuo is the place to go for fresh, silky, rice wrapped rolls. Iconic for Oakland Cheong Fun. Overall, glad they're still around for quick comfort food. Service is multilingual so no need to worry about ordering. They get DT Oakland office peeps although the office crowd has dwindled post-COVID and the rose of remote work.

There were folks waiting for their order so I just asked them if they were in line and they actually ordered already. The staff were super busy but did their best! I ordered three porridges and the fried dough stick. Used my credit card. Then i waited maybe about 8-10 minutes. I love the hustling nature of the restaurant. It gave me nostalgia to see the uncles chopping poultry, the aunties making rice rolls! The porridge were delicious. Dough sticks were soooooo crispy and I loved dipping it into my porridge.

You know a dish is good when you tell yourself, "Oh, I'm just going to try a little bit of this."…read moreAnd then you can't stop eating it. This was my experience with pretty much every dish I ordered on a recent trip to Yu Yu Za Zang. I'll admit this is one of those places I've walked or driven past for years and have always meant to try but just never got around to it. But I finally had an opportunity to drag my cousin/regular dining buddy with me. We ordered Yang Jang Pi (also known as Double Skin in some places), regular jajang (spelled zazang here) myun, and tang sue yuk (beef - which is the traditional Korean meat for this dish). My cousin and I are huuuuuge fans of the Double Skin at Great China in Berkeley, so the Double Skin here had a pretty high bar to reach. We were pleasantly surprised to find it more than held its own. The portions of everything were very generous, and the mustard dressing was nice and spicy. Perhaps the veggies were not quite as crunchy as Great China's, so not as much of a variety of textures, but this Yang Jang Pi was still delicious, and I still think about it days after our visit. The jajang (zazang) myun was also very generously portioned and pretty tasty. I haven't had any in Oakland in a while, so hard to say how it compares, but I would definitely eat it again. The beef tang sue yuk was incredible. Again, large portion, perfectly crispy outside, tender beef inside, and one of the best sweet and sour sauces I've ever had with this dish. The vibe is simple and clean; nothing fancy, but I went for the food, so I was fine with that. The service was also friendly and fast. There were barely any people there on a Saturday evening, which made me sad, because the food really is good. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. They also have soju and beer. Although Hanshin Pocha next door is popular, I could see Yu Yu Za Zang being a decent spot for delicious, very reasonably priced food that one can share with friends while having a couple of rounds of drinks. And in this economy, aren't we all looking for a good deal?
