A small menu, with something for everyone...and all is good. The coffee is great and I would easily suggest a Luckys latte (which is just a very sweet and delicious honey latte!) You are able to walk in and order at the counter for a to go cup, or you can dine in and order coffee as well as their farm to table menu. Since this small establishment is such a hot commodity, it is very smart to grab a coffee to go while you wait to be seated in the tiny park across the street. Charming farm-to-table cafe. Best tofu veggie scramble I've ever had, including the ones I make, which are pretty darn good. Portion was huge. Tried my husband's gingerbread waffle. Not usually a gingerbread fan but the taste was subtle and really delicious. Good coffee. Husband said the hot chocolate was good and it was certainly visually lovely. Getting a table here does take time but the food and service makes up for it! The staff is very courteous and helpful they're very patient with your order and requests! It's been years since I've been to Lucky's and I'm happy to say that everything I loved before is still here to love. For new visitors, note that street parking in the area is limited so you should be prepared to walk. Also note that this is a very popular spot. When we arrived at 9 (when they open) there were 10 people already in line, and by 10 (we had been seated by then) there was a 45 minute wait. But it's worth it. They source many local ingredients and grow their own vegetables on the patio. They have vegetarian and vegan options. They have a substantial coffee bar and pastries to grab and go. The breakfast burritos are a great choice (make sure to add some of their house-made hot sauce!) and the oatmeal is top notch. Today I got my favorite - the biscuits and gravy. Fancy breakfast food in Tremont, probably one of the best in Cleveland albeit it is expensive and if you get here 10 minutes after they open be prepared to wait for a table. It's inside of a house that was refurbished to he a restaurant so its quaint and homey. We got here early in order to make sure to get a table (9:06am when they open at 9am) and luckily got a table. Literally not 5 minutes after we sat down a line formed and they were taking names to wait for a table to open up. The waitress was quick and friendly, and we ordered two coffees and then our food. The coffee came out quick and the food took less than 10-15 minutes to bring out. I ordered the special of the day which was a tuna sandwich which I enjoyed. My significant other ordered the triple B salad which was good as well. My favorite menu item to get here are the waffles, they are so good and always come with like a fruit puree and whipped cream but I'm on a diet so I couldn't enjoy it this time. The environment was cute and this is probably a good spot for grabbing a coffee and a desert but not for food. The menu was pretty limited and overpriced for the bland plates served. We ordered the "shipwreck" which was extremely bland. We actually didn't even eat it because of this and decided to save it for later so we could add ingredients from home as to not waste it. The Como bread it came with was good though. It just shouldn't have been the star of the dish. I'd like to be able to enjoy this dish at $15.95. This is my 2nd time here at Lucky's, and I am so happy to have brought my friend along. We decided to go with the poached eggs sitting a top the corn grits with parmesan cheese and ratatouille made from vegetables sourced from local farms. My oh my! The ratatouille flavor combo with the parm grits - exploded in your mouth! It was amazing! The service was great! We did not have a long wait once we were seated and our order was taken. I know that the wait can sometimes seem forever if you don't get there when they first open up. So plan accordingly on the weekend. Either come early or late. I've been here a handful of times over the years and brought my fiance to try it this last Friday. I highly recommend Lucky's for breakfast. Food is always great, service is good and it's a quaint little place to enjoy a cup of java and breakfast. The only fault I see is there's one option for vegan/dairy-free patrons and none of the bakery items fit that category either. So it limits the number of times I have breakfast here, as it's always the same menu item and I have a dairy allergy. Don't get me wrong, the vegan/dairy-free item (The Canoewreck) is absolutely delicious! I just want another choice to be added, or at the very least, rotating bakery items that are vegan-friendly to visit here more often. Back to our visit on 12/6/19 - we were fortunate to arrive after the breakfast rush, as we only waited about 5 minutes for a table. (Because it's quaint and quite popular, be prepared for a wait.) I have been going to Lucky's Café for years. Today was the first time that I had a bad experience. The service was bad, the restroom needed servicing. There were no paper towels, etc. and the food wasn't very good. Very Bo's d and mushy. For those reasons I think today will be my very last visit. And I will discourage my friends and neighbors from going. There are too many other fun Cleveland eats to bother with this place again. Very sad. read more

I wanted to give this place a couple of chances before reviewing it to see if it was up to the hype. It definitely is! I first took my mother here for her birthday and we both split the baked mac & cheese and one of the specials at the time was cornmeal cakes with blueberry compote covered in lemon curd cream and homemade whipped cream. I have to say that was some of the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had in my entire life. I actually think it's a regular item on the menu and you should try it. I wish the cornmeal cakes were a regular item on the menu but unfortunately they aren't but were so delicious. The lemon curd was so tart but it was amazing complement to the blueberry compote and the cakes. I also had an iced coffee that day as well and it was delicious. I love a good iced coffee. I recently been back with a friend of mine and I had the ginger bread waffles with spiced apples and covered in caramel sauce and homemade whipped cream. Oh my god this is to die for! The portion size of this is gigantic and you definitely could share this with someone and still be satisfied. The whip cream is like nothing I've ever had in my entire life. I also had a side of sausage patties which were delicious! At the same visit I had a caramel Creme breve to drink which was pretty sweet and difficult to finish but oh so decadent. I will definitely be returning to Luckys as soon as possible. I've been to Lucky's Cafe a couple of times now - for breakfast! I originally stumbled across Lucky's a couple of years ago when visiting Cleveland for work. I found the place using the Yelp app on my iPhone. Later I discovered that Guy Fieri had visited Lucky's on an episode of "Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives," and that Cleveland area Iron Chef Michael Symon had raved about their Cheddar Biscuits and sausage gravy on an episode of the Food Network's: "The Best Thing I Ever Ate." Lucky's Café is a cute little brunch place tucked away in a mainly residential area in Tremont. I went with a couple friends in April and was seated immediately. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and quick to take our orders. I was torn between ordering the biscuits or the shipwreck but ultimately pulled the trigger on biscuits. The food came out promptly and I was impressed by how big the portion was. The biscuits and gravy was rich and meaty and the potatoes were crispy and cooked perfectly. However, it was a tad bit under-seasoned but that's not a big deal. On the way out, I ordered a chocolate mousse cake slice to-go which also ended up being very good. It was silky and decadent without being too sweet, everything you'd want out of a chocolate mousse cake. As for the prices, they're on the higher side but to be honest, compared to other places I've been to and given the portion size, they're pretty fair. Lucky's is in a very cute neighborhood. The cafe/restaurant is nicely decorated. We had made a reservation for our party of six earlier in the week but still had to wait 15 minutes upon arrival. The seating is not very comfortable and the tables were a little rickety. They did already have water for everyone. I ordered the Earl Grey latte and shipwreck. The latte was delicious. The meal was nice but not very seasoned. I did enjoy the homemade jam they provided for the toast. The staff did come by a few times and get refills and sides when needed. Shipwrecks were good, but just your average American diner food breakfast (potatoes, eggs w/ veggies, toast, bacon, and some fruit). Nothing too special about that dish, definitely something you can make at home. Though the shipwrecks came with fruit, both of my friends got the TINIEST slice of melon ever tucked away under their toast. Would definitely recommend the biscuits and gravy, though a bit heavy. Gravy was paired very nicely alongside the eggs and biscuits. Only downer is we weren't able to split the bill between more than 2 people. Stopped for brunch. Such a cute place, sat out side on the covered patio and loved the ambiance. They have a full barista and their Luckys latte is delicious as well as their French press. Between me and my partner we got the shipwreck and the highly anticipated and rated biscuits. The latter were fantastic, my husband says the best biscuits he's ever had. The shipwreck was good, but in my head it would have been more potato (like a hash) than egg (like a very big omelette). Service was a little slower, but they were busy so it was expected and no big deal. I really love that they try and source a lot of their menu from local farmers including their own grown produce. I came to this breakfast café because I read many great and positive reviews for this place. The service here is also good. We were greeted quickly even though they were busy, and the waitress was attentive to us. The ambiance has a hipster feel to it, but it would be hard to work/study here since it is extremely loud and rushy-feeling all the time. Maybe my expectations were set too high, but I didn't really find the food to be all that spectacular. The quality is what you would expect to find at many of your breakfast/brunch cafes. Maybe the appeal to it is that they find "different" ways to plate and serve the usual type of breakfast dishes? The food did taste good!--I am not saying that I was unimpressed with the food. It was cooked well and seasoned well; however, I do not think that this café stands out much compared to other brunch restaurants and that's why it is only getting a 3-star review. I would choose to go to another brunch restaurant instead of this one if I were looking for quality brunch. First timer! Love the neighborhood vibe of the restaurant. Definitely reminds you of a Mom and Pop restaurant in a good way. We ordered the "biscuit" and it did not disappoint. Now I did not taste the granola and fruit but I saw the young lady sitting next to me with it. It looked AMAZING. Definitely coming back to try that and the Reuben. The place: Lucky's is a little place that maybe seats 30. Up front is a coffee counter, bakery case, and some Lucky's merch (t-shirts, coffee, and bags of granola or biscotti). There's also a patio that would be lovely in the summer. During my visit, I sat on a banquette against the sunshiney window which was toasty and so welcoming. The location: Nestled into a quiet neighborhood, there's plenty of free street parking. The food: The canoewreck is the vegetarian solution to the "shipwreck." With warm, curried tofu and seasonal roasted vegetables piled up against two slices of buttered toast, this was easily the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I couldn't stop exclaiming about how amazing it was. The bread was incredible and loaded up with vegetables and tofu...utterly mouthwatering. Spousifer got the gingerbread waffles with cinnamon apples. I only had a tiny taste because I was so happy with my choice. The coffee was rich and dark, delivered in cauldron-sized mugs. If you're craving an espresso drink at your table, there's a plentiful menu of fancy coffee drinks. And if you want to order a pastry, you can do that at the table or get them added to your check at the front counter. The pastry: The triple chocolate brownie was incredible and the pecan toffee blondie would make an excellent snack. I was becoming hangry and went to "the Google" for nearby restaurants that were open. I am so glad I stopped! I was greeted immediately with bright smiles and a hearty hello.
