Driven by many times but never stopped in. We were craving burgers though and wanted to try something new. At first, we were thinking we would have to eat in the car because it was raining out. Then we saw the bus. It was warm and inviting with music to listen to while we waited. We could hear them call our name there too so we didn't have to stand outside. Our daughter had a great time "driving" while we waited for our food. The adults got burgers and fries and the kids got hot dogs. The burgers, fries and shakes were all great! OK, so I've already given this place a five star on their burgers and the root beer shake,,,this afternoon. I tried the chili cheese dog. I upsized and got the large fry and I'm glad I did, because the way they do their chili dogs you won't be able to pick it up, LOL, grab a fork and knife dump your fries in it and you got yourself chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries all in one, really good chili, becoming one of my favorite drive-by burger stops. I get it a local long time favorite, that being said the quality of the burgers aren't that good there's no seasoning and the meat itself has to be the lowest grade of Beef was not juicy at all. Fries were alright frozen pre-seasoned. I did enjoy the Milkshake, hadn't had a Milkshake in a while so it was decent. Fry sauce taste more like tarter sauce with ketchup in it still better for fish not fries. THERE ARE other great burger places that are local in the area I think I'll try them. read more

The line is so long, waited for about 15-20 minutes before we get our burger. There is nothing special or signature about the burgers that stand out that make you say "WOW". I might return there again someday but it is not like In and Out Burger. It is near my son soccer facility which tempted as we drove past by. read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting this joint. I've driven past it many times over the years but never stopped. Last night I was coming from Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park and was intending on finding a Dairy Queen. Decided to go here instead. Best decision of the day! The shakes are the best I've ever had! And the fries are incredible. The place was clean, comfortable and very nostalgic. The staff was super nice and the food was manner. I was surprised that the bill was not that much either. Best damn burgers, shake, and fries my fiance and I have ever had. Burgers are juicy and flavorful, fries are crispy and fresh, and frankly, a small shake is MORE than enough with how rich they are. The retro atmosphere really adds to it, with the outdoor seating, the bus-turned-diner, the speaker announcements, radio, and the little pop up burger stand aesthetic, it's just- comforting. And for how popular of a stop is it, the staff are nice and the times are quick! We got good memorable food in about five minutes from ordering. And it's fairly affordable! Frankly you can easily share a meal with a partner or friend and it still be enough, and it's about as much as say, a Wendy's combo! Definitely made an impression on us for being new to the area! I haven't been to many drive-ins, so I was happy to see tables outdoors! I was fully prepared to unload my kiddo, order, and then pack them back up into the car and eat there haha so I was glad to have a place to sit. Speaking of, I didn't go inside because of the stroller, but they have this amazing old bus renovated to be like a diner inside! It looks so fun. The menu was what I expected from a burger joint - it was nice to see a couple of special burgers, although I just stuck with a double cheeseburger. Their special sauce was really delicious and had a smokey flavor I didn't expect. The patties were pretty good and the bun was soft. I think the fries stole the show for me - they're my favorite type of fry! It was a lot of food for about $15, so I think a pretty good deal if you're really hungry. Nice old school feel. Got the BBQ Bacon burger. They over did the mayo. Hamburger buns are big. Good shakes but on the small side.

They had a veggie burger and it was as great ! I added sautéed mushrooms and onions and the bun held up to that and was delicious! I also had the fries, they are offered with 3 different sauces fry sauce, spicy catsup, garlic aioli, and a mayo based one as well as regular catsup. The small milkshake I chose was banana made with fresh banana and was really thick and good I ended up eating it mostly with a spoon. They had a caramel apple one I really wanted to try but I was afraid it would be too sweet. The girl behind the counter also said they could adjust the sweetness, but I had already decided to not do it. Interestingly, the Tacoma area has quite a lot of independent burger stops! Lucky's being one that really promotes the retro feel that some of decades past may feel nostalgic for. There's a small parking lot but it's very easy to find parking. There was a consistent line as people left or found a place on the picnic benches to eat. You can even order and wait in your car for the radio to let you know when the order's ready! Very nifty but unfortunately did not have a radio app on my phone handy. For our four burgers, fries, and blackberry milkshake combo, it took about three to five minutes for them to have it ready. Really fast! We got the regular, the double, backyard, and the mushroom and Swiss. All of the burgers on the menu range from $5-8 so there's room to mix and match if you compare to restaurant prices. I think for us, the burgers were fine. They're about the size of Dick's with less of the sauce that gives it that signature taste. Maybe that's where the addon sauces come in? We did use the lucky sauce for the fries and the sauce is a mix of (guessing) relish, mayo, and ketchup. It's alright too! Strangely, our favorite of the meal was the French fries! We definitely couldn't get enough of them. They're crunchy, chewy, and nicely seasoned. They're not greasy, either. We considered that it might be a double fry, or even a bit of air frying to dry the outside but retain the fried texture/moisture on the inside. Definitely a mystery but I really think these are the best fries I've had. Unfortunately, I think I got small fries when I asked for medium! I will really miss them. Of course, the milkshake completes the drive-in experience. Made with real blackberries as I got some seeds between my teeth while drinking it. They provide a spoon since it's so thick and creamy when it's served. Very cooling and balances the meal well. The medium is true to size as well. I'm not a big fan of burgers in general, (still missing California In n Out), but I think for the service and amazing sides, it's very worth trying Lucky's if you're in the area! And yes, there is a big menu on the walkway to the counter, by the ordering window, and on the website for accessibility! I get what all the hype is about. If your looking for a classic dine-in aesthetic, good food, and delicious milkshakes...get in your car right now. We came here on a Sunday afternoon. The line wasn't long at all and we were the only ones sitting in the bus. It was clean and the seats were comfy. I got the Lucky burger with a triple berry shake and fries, and my boyfriend got the Double Bacon burger with a peanut butter Oreo shake and fries. We also got a side of garlic aioli and lucky sauce. The total came out to $33 (not sure how, but still ok). My favorite thing about any burger joint will have to be the fries. Honestly the way to my heart. Luckys we're super crispy and fresh. The burgers were a good size, but the meat wasn't seasoned. It's okay because the Lucky sauce was super flavorful and carried. The milkshake was a true dessert. By now I have been here over a handful of times with my family and we all enjoy eating here - Lucky's is a family favorite for us! Compared to other fast food burger options around this is my only go-to. The food/service is always consistent and the price for what you get is great. I love their rewards system too so overtime you can unlock discounts, etc. On Mondays military 20% off and on every other day it is 10% :) My kids love to eat on their bus which is always clean and has air conditioning. Outdoor seating options are also available. The staff has always been friendly and helpful as well. My husband and I got dinner here after a long day and they did not disappoint! This is the first time we ever tried them and it was so so good that we will definitely be back. I love that they have vegan/vegetarian options which rocks because I feel like it's still hard to find options for vegetarians. My husband got their bacon ranch burger and I swear he inhaled it, that's how good it was! I got the vegetarian burger meal and the fries and burger were so delicious!! I love this place. Stopped by for the first time recently and did not leave disappointed. We got a classic Lucky burger and a mushroom and Swiss. The food was tasty and hot, really nice juicy burgers and the ingredients were very fresh. There's nothing worse than having your heart set on a burger with mushrooms only to have them be canned- not here! The food was served quick and the staff were all really friendly! I have celiac disease. They have a lovely double patty with the fixins in the middle. They actually knew what sauces have wheat! You'd be surprised how often staff doesn't know that. It was yummy and my hubby enjoyed his regular Lucky burger and fries! We ate in the school bus. Very cute and clean. Oldies playing in the background. Best of all, I can just buy the sandwich. Gong to my orientation for grad school by PLU, my Dad and I decided to stop off the side of the road at this drive-in, and boy were we surprised! I had the bacon ranch burger with the banana shake, while my Dad had the mushroom swiss burger with a banana shake. The burger tasted very good, fresh patties and the ranch complimented the burger quite nicely. The shake tasted like real banana (as the sign says) and was very good and delicious on a shot summer day. Looking around one can see vintage signage, a bus that you can dine in, and 1950's-60's music playing over a couple of loudspeakers; feels as if you are being transported back in time which is a nice touch! This place is the best! The real Lavender lemonade was amazing and the blackberry shake was delicious! Giant potions of the most delicious fries ever. (In my opinion) The service is always top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. If you want, you can eat in the bus that is on the property. I usually don't like fries but these were good with Lucky sauce. Didn't see any ketchup unless you paid for it? I had a peanut butter shake which was one of the best I've had. This spot doesn't look like much but it's pretty darn close to perfect. To start, the service was super friendly and even offered a military discount which was a lovely surprise. Then the burgers were AMAZING. The bacon was delicious and everything was just the right amount of cheesy, saucey goodness. The fries were so crispy, seasoned well and went great with all 4 of their homemade sauces. Shakes were on point and I was also so excited to see malts on the menu as they are getting less common. What a fun little drive in! The food was tasty and reasonably priced. For 4 of us getting burgers, fries and a drink it was about $60. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and I loved it served on the soft roll. The sauce, cheese and mushrooms were chef's kids! Really enjoyed the Oreo shake too! The fries were good, but I was so full I couldn't finish my chili cheese fries. They even kept the bus warm with heaters so it was a really unique and comfortable dining experience. I've been there a few times, and tried different items, and I have yet to find one that is not excellent.

My experience here was absolutely amazing, we got there when rush hour hit and they made sure to get our order very quickly, while you wait you can either site on there old school bus and listen to some old school rock or site or your car, they were very kind and made sure I didn't wait long for my food, if you are in the Spanaway area I highly recommend lucky's, you will not regret it and it will raise the bar for fast food that you won't want to go anywhere else. read more
