I love this place. I've been 3 times for a specialty cocktail & my hub likes their beer. Different drink every time, all good. We are older, and this area is frequented by younger individuals. I mention this because I have felt so welcomed by their attentive staff. The bartenders are just so friendly, and always take time to see if you need anything. The male bartender has gone the extra mile to ask how are day has been going, or what we plan to do later. He is so genuine, and always smiling. These have been trying times, and people like him really make a difference in a person's outlook. Every time I have been here, I'm so happy with their music selection! Only went to the "Outdoor" portion of Lucky's Indoor/Outdoor. But have to say I enjoyed my experience here. I got a last minute invite to a Halloween Party here. I contemplated not going because it's in PHX and I live in Scottsdale. But I'm really glad I went. It was a much better Halloween scene than the Old Town bars. The best part was that the music was on, but it wasn't blaring loud, which I CANNOT STAND in most other places. It may have helped that we were outside. There were 6 of us total and we had no problem finding a picnic bench to sit on even though it was a steady crowd. Bathroom never had much of a line considering the crowd, so that was a plus. Outdoor bar didn't ever have too much of a wait and the bartenders were friendly (one even complimented my costume!). My boyfriend doesn't drink and ordered the non-alcoholic beer. It came in a can and I wish I could remember the name. Because he said it was much better than O'Douls. I also got a few drinks and enjoyed the wine they had (even though I think it was a boxed wine lol). All told, this is a pretty solid spot and I enjoyed looking at everyone's costumes that night. The 4 of us came here for the first time on Saturday night around 12:30am. After a short wait, we were let in. It wasn't too packed inside and we were able to get a seat at one of the picnic tables outside. I thought we would be freezing but we weren't. The heaters they have are incredibly strong. Unfortunately I tried ordering a couple cocktails and hated them. The Lucky Negroni and a Tom Collins with Hendricks. I wouldn't order a cocktail here. I am currently next door at Sazerac after the Lucky's doorman Chris with a nightmare beard refused my entry. He accused me of "swaying" after I made a comment like: "oh, no masks required...?" to my friends. Chris at the front door then asked me to remove my mask while checking my ID and then said "unfortunately I can't let you in tonight." ... because I was "swaying." My friends were shocked. I have been WAY more wasted at pretty much every bar I've ever been to, but ponytail beard Chris did NOT like my mask politics! Being a Karen, I called the bar and Nick (on duty manager) came out. He appeared to be sympathetic and understanding, but after watching a few minutes of his interaction with ponytail Chris and taking him to the side, another doorman came out. He had no problem letting me in. While inside, I went to the bathroom. My friends called and said they were now rejected too! Inside the bathroom, I noticed someone who was actually drunk puked on the toilet. I went outside to collect my friends and go over to Sazerac and manager Nick apologized and said it was in ponytail Chris's best interests. This place is such a cool outdoor area, the inside was pretty nice as well cool style and plenty of seating area. From what we were told pets are allowed inside, but it was a beautiful evening so we decided to take ourselves our drinks and our dog outside. About 20 minutes after we arrived there was a food truck that arrived (!!) i was so excited because who doesnt love drinks & food, the food truck took foreverrrr to make it into the property & to set up...we ended up just leaving after our second drink & no food. One of the worst bar experiences I've ever had. Most of the staff was rude (not everyone, but most). My friends and I had tried to stop someone to ask where the bathroom was and he said "MOVE" before shoving past us. We were shocked at the lack of welcome at this bar, and other reviews suggest the rude atmosphere we encountered. I felt horrible as we were celebrating my sister in law's 25th birthday. The bouncer was very kind though, but the majority of reviews of security seem to be different than what I experienced. Save yourself the grief and go next door to Sazerac @Nick's reply: I saw the guy clearing off tables then go behind the bar to talk :/ if there was an emergency I would definitely understand, but the lack of an apology was astounding. This used to be my favorite bar. But keep in mind it's only a 3 star place. It didn't offer a lot but it had charm. Yesterday 12/17/2022 I went like any other night but I had a extremely rude encounter with the bartender Rebecca I think. She was a petite brunette girl. It's a Saturday night so there's a lot of people and she assumes that we're yelling at her when we said "Excuse me Miss," then with an attitude proceeds to give us change and when she comes back it seems like she's okay. Then when she left we can clearly see her talk to her other male bartender talking loudly that we were being rude and yelling at them. I won't go out of my way to write something bad. But she misunderstood the situation so badly and proceeded to gossip. It was seriously a poor sign of service. She didnt make good drinks and acted like she owned the place. Not only her attitude but the attitude of her other bartenders working that night was not cool. Even when we asked for our check the guy had come over and told us we didn't have to be rude without asking what situation unfolded. Super biased don't recommend anymore. I liked this bar right when I walked in there was a divey bar vibe. The jello shots are a must to try. Also, come during happy hour for the drink specials. I had a drink with mezcal and it had a slight orange taste very delicious. They gave an outdoor seating area to have drinks and it has these really cool swings. However, at 12:56 am on April 15th 2023 I was DISCRIMINATED with my physical disability for being mistaken drunk I literally got off of work to go and check out the nightlife especially luckys since I have never been here. The security officers would even ask me to show them my disability. As a person with a physical disability it is really challenging to walk normal as the rest. Next thing, AL one of the security guards told me to leave cause I am drunk and they called it. Absolutely love this bar such a gem! They start out with five stars first of all because of their parking lot absolutely love a bar with some parking area especially in downtown! Second off the inside area as well as the outside patio area is so fun and easy to prolong the night switching between the two environments. Outside beautiful red lights amazing music beautiful porch swings. Inside they have pool tables and ski ball which is always my favorite!! They have a bar inside as well as outside. While I was waiting in line to get in with my group of friends, the bouncer came up to me and said that I could not come in because he " saw me doing a line of coke off my arm". NEVER in my life have I done drugs, let alone being accused of it?? It was sooo off the wall that I thought he was joking at first and I laughed! It was going to be my first time going as I am new to the area. I will NEVER be stepping foot here ever again. The staff is incompetent and accusatory. Absolutely repulsed by this establishment. I've been wanting to try lucky's for a while but the mixed reviews had me second guessing. Came in for some day drinking and had a great experience! The bar tender was very friendly and made a great cocktail. The indoor space was moody and spacious and the outdoor area brought me back to my east coast childhood with grandmas lawn chairs, picnic tables, and swinging egg chairs. Had a not so great experience with the Lucky's bouncer the other night. This was literally our first bar of the night, so I was stone cold sober. As I'm getting my ID checked, a group of guys are leaving the outdoor portion of the bar and one of them literally ran straight into me - I don't know if it was on purpose or if he was just belligerently drunk. Obviously I stumbled a little because, um, some drunk idiot just body checked me and I'm wearing platform heels. The guys called out some rude things to my boyfriend and our friends, and then the bouncer told US that he didn't feel comfortable serving us because we were "too drunk". ??? I'm wondering if they've had issues with over-serving patrons in the past (certainly seemed like the guys leaving were a little too drunk) and now they're being overly cautious, but this seemed a bit over the top. Apparently you have to be silent, stand absolutely still and ignore other drunk patrons getting in your personal space to be allowed in this place. No worries, we went next door to Sazerac instead and had a blast. We won't be coming back to Lucky's anytime soon, and I'll be sure to warn anyone who comes here about this experience. read more

Let me start by saying, I just finished reading all the 1-star reviews and they sound extremely unsatisfying. With that being said... my friend and I did not have that same type of interaction with the staff whatsoever. We stopped at Lucky's after leaving AZ Wilderness- where we had a little food and a couple drinks beforehand. The doorman, I believe his name was Chris, was extremely welcoming. He carefully checked our IDs, and since it was our first time at Lucky's (and wasn't swamped at the entrance), he was able to happily answer a few of our questions. We introduced ourselves, shook hands, and went inside. Inside: The bar was dimly lit and decorated throughout for the holiday season. There was plenty of seating spread about, along with plenty of standing room to chit chat with friends. They had one pool table, and possibly a couple more games. To be honest, I wasn't interested in staying inside because it was a beautiful day out and wanted to scope out the back area... so I didn't look hard enough for other games or stuff. We ordered drinks from the bartender inside and headed to the patio area. Outside: Once you exit the indoor bar, you step into an open-area style patio. There's an area to the left that's slightly shaded (for those hot Phoenix days) complete with tables and some bar top seating. They have a super cute trailer setup that's been remodeled into an outdoor bar. Again, super cute. Towards the back of that patio area, there is a small stage where they had a chill band playing music. It wasn't overly loud so you could still hang and have conversations, and it definitely added to the chill ambiance. On the right side of the outdoor area, it's another open space- no awning or shading on this side. There are a few picnic tables positioned along a grassy area. Since this is a dog-friendly bar (LOVE!) I imagine this area is mainly for the pups to get cozy while their humans enjoy a cocktail. And next to the grassy area, right along the wall, are about 6 or so swing-chairs. So if you feel like "hanging out" while you're hanging out... you can park your tush in one of those bad boys. (They are super cozy!) In addition, there's also a little food trailer located at the back of the patio! (However, I didn't order anything this time around.) I'm a little clutz at times, so I accidentally dropped my phone... then spilled part of my drink while picking it up. (Eye roll). My clutziness could've easily been mistaken as drunkenness, but no one approached me about it. I asked the other security guy outside if vaping (not weed) was allowed. He told me yes, without seeming rude or anything. To me, he seemed just as nice as Chris was. Now, I'm not trying to disregard anyone else's 1-star experiences AT ALL. Those experiences were unfortunate and I can imagine being just as upset if I had experienced them. My review is ONLY reflective of my own personal experience. I'm really hoping that each time I visit Lucky's it'll continue to be the chill visit that I originally had. If so, I look forward to coming back numerous times. I love a good outdoor bar. Overall, the staff was nice. We enjoyed some drinks and music, interacted with some fun people, and of course... we pet some dogs. Success. read more

Last week was my first time at Luckys. It wasn't what I expected, for some reason I was thinking dive bar, but it wasn't. It was a wonderful middle-scale bar that has a cocktail menu to order off of, if you want. I started with a Moscow mule that had great aromatics. Then, I ordered a sour beer that sort of tasted like fruity pebbles. I really enjoyed both. We sat outside where they had heaters, but only some were turned on so there were patrons struggling to turn on their nearest heater. The space outside has large picnic tables, so great for big groups. I was in a small group, so felt kind of weird sitting the few of us at a big table, but otherwise it was bar-like seating. I like the self-serve water station so you can refill as you wish. They have a little food station out back as well, but I didn't order anything. Even though it was a Sunday, it was starting to get busy at the 9pm mark. The place had great energy. I will definitely go back. read more

This place is great. Has the feeling of a chill lounge that you might find in Portland Oregon, but not the snobby attitude. My wife and I live in very north Phoenix (Deer Valley Area) but we always make our way to Lucky's whenever we are in the area. What's not to love about this place? Drink's are fairly priced, the indoor ambiance is amazing, and the patio is huge and inviting. This isn't going to be a long review because there really isn't much else to say. We haven't had food there, but the drinks have always been great, prices reasonable, and service good and friendly. If you're looking for a place that is more trendy than a dive-bar, but not as formal as a cocktail lounge then I would absolutely recommend checking out Lucky's read more

There's just a terrible attitude that they have that leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you enter. What's the saying, "first impressions matter"? When I asked one of the employee's the other night why one of the bouncers was such an ass for zero reason to people entering he said, "oh yeah he's really a good guy once you get to know him" and I'm like, "you guys have SO MUCH POTENTIAL...why would you ever allow that type of behavior to be the first impression at your establishment?" It's just so silly, ridiculous given how much money has gone into this place. Never have I ever had a worse experience in 30 years at a bar. The 12 year old bartender who didn't give his name when I asked refused to serve me and my best friend, (for reasons he didn't explain). No one including the manager, Nick, who was on scene and appeared to be tired and repeatedly apologized could understand why we were refused service. Btw Nick happened to be outside when myself and my friend were granted access with no issue and he was still outside when we left and complained to him less than 5 minutes later. Nick agreed that it didn't make any sense but did nothing to rectify the situation and didn't offer an apology. Completely mortifying.... And In case your wondering we weren't intoxicated. We walked there and were literally celebrating a new job opportunity. We had ONE drink before our arrival . I've been to "UNLUCKIES" 2 times prior to this visit and have always underwhelmed. It's BORING you can literally go anywhere else in the area and have more fun. We only stopped in because it's walking distance from our apartment. The drinks, food truck in the back, and the music are all mediocre on their best day. The only nice thing about this place seems to be the aesthetic. Great fun! We flew in from Vegas for a weekend with friends. There is so much to donin this neighborhood, however, don't make the mistake of trying to get a spot on a Friday night. We even tried to pay for parking towards the ASU lot and the meter was broken. Walked seven blocks for a boatload of fun. Avoid at all costs! Yeahhh I wouldn't go to Lucky's if it was the last bar/place on earth and you shouldn't either. The security guards are clearly on a power wave and when guys are chivalrous, they are met with other men who don't understand/comprehend the term. This place is extremely unprofessional. We went here for a night out and were denied at the door. We had two men and three women in our group. It was cold outside so we, the women, went to sit in the car (parked right in front of the building) to warm up while the guys stood in line. When it was close to our turn to go in, we got out of the car and walked up. The security guard, "Alex", denied us entry and said we were cutting in line. We explained to him that the guys were being gentlemen by allowing us to sit in the car to stay warm. The groups behind us also advocated for us and said they saw us prior to us going to the car. They even ensured the little man, "Alex", that they had no problem with us joining our men to go inside. Alex proceeded to deny us entry and was rude even after we explained that we only sat in the car to warm up. In the beginning, I thought he was joking because there's absolutely no way we were condemned for men being chivalrous. Do not go to this place if you respect your time & energy. Trust me, it's not worth it and the owners/managers will not do anything to rectify the situation because they too, condone this behavior. So when you read all the negative reviews, please believe them and not Nick Nitz, who typically responds back attempting to defend their business but is miseducated on what happened. read more
