Excellent bar with amazing bartenders and bar staff. Their security is known by downtown locals as being infamously shitty, undertrained, and overly confident in being awful. 5 stars for the bar 3 stars because of their trash security I live a block away and I go once a week on average. Not afraid to tell their security they're being terrible when they act up. That results in me coming less than I would at times. I'm very happy to spread the word. read more

Used to be my favorite spot but we came by today and my elderly uncle who now walks with a limp due to joint issues, was acused of being to drunk to enter. His English is Broken so he may have sounded drunk and if he was by himself i could understand the confusion but his two sons and myself were there to explain the situation and they could careless. My uncle even offered to show him his bad leg. Sad day when I man is refused service because of his disabilities. read more

This place has such a cool "backyard" vibe. The inside is dope too. The bartenders were great, cocktails were yummy and staff was nice. We went on Cinco de Mayo and it was super busy and felt great to feel normal again. My new favorite place in Phoenix! This place is the exact vibe I'd been searching for. It was a happy accident that we showed up too early to watch a movie at Filmbar, so we figured we'd stop in and have a drink at this place next door. It is so cool, with retro vibes and artwork, nooks, pool tables, and even a Skee Ball game inside! Outside is just as impressive with an Airstream, hanging chairs, bocci court, and lots of picnic tables. I haven't even had the pleasure of visiting at night yet, which I'm sure is even cooler looking. They serve great drinks and serve them with pride here. Extremely friendly staff. Amazing new bar in downtown Phoenix! Holiday decor makes it extra cheerful, service is great and signature cocktails are delicious. Try the south of the border.. YUM! And this is one of those places where I hate to give a stellar review because damnit, I'd kinda like to keep it for myself! But here goes: totally cool bar right off Roosevelt Row with comfortable chairs and a nice couch setting area that I love, some cool games, great drinks- dang, I think they even have Falstaff Beer there! Negative experience w the DJ and bouncers. Most of the time we spent it having fun and enjoying the music, but when our friend asked the DJ to play Bad Bunny he said, "we're not that kind of bar". What "kind" of bar is Luckys? Latinxs make up a majority minority of the city of Phoenix. Bad Bunny is #1 artist worldwide. The DJ could've just said no it's not on my set -- but we're not "that kind" of bar? Latinos, clearly it's not our "kind" of bar. Sadly for them, Downtown Phx has historically been for us -- a majority Latinx community. We were here before Luckys, and we'll be here after. read more

Was told that we could not go in and when I asked why they pointed right at me and said that it was because of me with no explanation? I had the best time visiting Lucky's this week!! It's such a fun spot with a cool vintage feel! This bar is just what downtown needed to step up its bar game! If you head in, definitely check out the patio and play some pool on their super neat branded pool table! Also, say hi to the Bartended! Tell him what you like to drink and anything he chooses for you will be PERFECTION! If you don't like to leave it up to chance, the Irish Bird so delicious! Not too sweet or too strong! Wish I could I give this place negative stars! All of the "security" was rude from the moment we walked up. After walking in the door one of the security guys was speaking rudely about our friend and when we called him out on it they kicked us out. They said we were being "disrespectful" and that we never need to come back. Don't worry we WONT! After reading other reviews it seems like there is a big problem with security! Basically if you are a woman, POC or someone who doesn't fit the "mold" of what they are looking for they will find a "reason" to kick you out! So many better bar options around with much better security. read more

A nice hole in the wall place with friendly servers that work their butts off to make your experience there great! Definitely give those men and women tips! Absolutely horrible security guard. I was told I wasn't allowed to enter because I was too intoxicated, however I was sober. After reading other reviews, this seems like a common thing. I'd advise to NEVER wait in a line here because even if you're sober, the power trip bouncer might not let you in. I watched him in the course of 25 minutes send away 10+ people. read more

I've come into Lucky's many nights and have always had a great time and got good service from their staff, with the exception of security. When drinking here with a group of friends on New Year's eve my friend was kicked out within 20 minutes after waiting in line for over an hour because she tripped outside and security assumed she was wasted. I assumed this could have been a one time thing or maybe just one guy but this Monday both security and management took and held a real ID in our group and refused to give it back until the police came over an hour later (with absolutely no proof or evidence of it being fake). Once the police confirmed the ID was real, there was no apologies from anyone on staff and we could no longer enjoy our night considering it was 2am at that point. Lucky's used to be our go to downtown but not after this disappointment. read more

This place is homophobic. Went out with a few of my gay male friends and one female friend and got harassed by a group of guys next to us. Called us homophobic slur words, told us we were going to hell, and that we should just kill ourselves. As they continued to harass us, security came up to our table and asked us to leave, THE ONES GETTING HARRASSED, to avoid a fight. Instead of kicking the group of guys who were causing the issue, they chose to kick us out. I will never return and am posting this to warn others to beware. I did not feel comfortable at this bar and has honestly prevented me from going to "straight bars" out of fear of being judged. I try this place time and time again. And every single time I have such an unpleasant experience. Getting out IDs checked and get asked indirectly "do you think they are too intoxicated to come In?" Im absolutely appalled at your door guy. My husband and i love luckys, we go there alot. Always been fun with great customer service. We had friends in from los angeles and took them there last night. We stood in line chatting and then when we got to the door the guy pointed at me and said i couldnt come in. He said i swayed a little bit. We were honestly shocked and a little confused. Im 45...but a trendy 45 year old but the only thing i can think is my age????? Because i certainly wasnt wasted- if i was my husband would have told me so. Naturally my friend got heated with him and flipped him off. Which was well deserved. Samuel is a very bad security guard, there were about 20 of us that wanted to enter the establishment and he interrogated one of my coworkers whom is of age, & then proceeded to tell her she was confused after asking her very detailed question. insinuating she was drunk, when she had one topo chico seltzer at the previous bar, very disappointed he is not understanding and honestly ruined our night, we work in the industry and it could have been a great night for you. she was and we were all respectful and he completely just disregarded all feelings with no evidence. Had an absolute horrible experience at Lucky's. I have been a fan and constant patron for a few years now but will most likely not be returning after my latest experience. I went on a Friday night with three of my girlfriends. The security guard was immediately aggressive and asked to see two credit cards along with our ID. We didn't mind at this point as we understand that there are laws to be followed, but it was very outside of the norm. Once inside we each had one drink and were just sitting and enjoying the vibe of the bar. Out of nowhere, a security guard approaches my friend and says "your friend needs to leave right now, she is way too intoxicated." My friend was confused, as we were all sitting at a table chatting quietly. He points to me aggressively and says "she needs to leave." My friend asks politely if she could finish her drink, and he says we need to leave right now. He says that he had seen me yawn twice, and that meant that I was intoxicated and needed to leave. As I didn't have any choice and we were four young women against three aggressive security guards, I left immediately. I felt so guilty and horrible as I have never been asked to leave a bar before in my life, and my friends were asked to leave as well. I had always been a fan of Lucky's but after this experience I won't return and will be telling all of my friends the same. read more
