Why is it (almost) every time we place an order you forget something in our order? It's gotten to the point where I've had to double check before I leave. Tonight I ordered 1 cheese fries and 1 fried pickles. How could it go wrong? No cheese! That's the whole point of cheese fries, as stated on the ticket, and yet once again, let down by Lucy's. Lucy's does have a great chicken sandwich. And it's humongous! I ate here over the summer and I was surprised at just how huge this sandwich is. Granted, the price is in line with how big this portion is. I thought it was perfectly fried-the chicken was juicy, and the skin was extremely crispy. It was nice to eat outside, but the foot traffic in this area can be a bit much. Don't expect a very relaxing view outside -there's a lot of hustle and bustle since this is so close to the train. The only thing I will say is that I believe I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, but my chicken was not spicy at all. Unsure if I ended up with a regular sandwich, or if the spice is underwhelming. Was feeling lazy at the end of a long holiday weekend and decided to give Lucy's a try. Hopped online looked at the menu and phoned in our order for take out. Friendly phone call and a quick Divvy ride there and back we were set up for easy burger night. I got the BLT burger that had a nice amount of bacon and the girl had a Bleu burger that she said she would order again. Add on a side of fries each, probably could have just got one as they are generous, and we were set. Will be back for sure read more

Casual place that serves up some world class chicken sandwiches! We ordered the spicy chicken which was delicious. The spicy chicken + bacon jam was literally out of this world (what a god damn explosion of flavors, I'm serious! The garlic + secret sauce + jam was unrealistic). Fried pickles threw me for a bit of a loop since I was expecting fried pickle slices vs spears but they were incredible so no complaints. While ordering, they messed up our order and made it back up 100x and more. Will definitely be back and mainly because of the star of the show: the garlic aioli (I mean this thing was something dreamy, best aioli I've had and puts small cheval to shame). Man I really wanted to like Lucy's since I've heard so much about it, but this was honestly a disgusting and disappointing experience. Midway eating their chicken sandwich, I bit into a huge gristle part of the chicken. You know those parts of the chicken when you chew it's rubbery? Disgusting. I gagged on it. The parts of the chicken that were edible were just ok. The garlic salt they use in the breading mixture overpowers everything else. The one other good part was the slaw I guess. The decor is kinda cute, reminds me of one of those old malt shops. That being said, of course I had to order a milkshake. And since there was a boozy option, my adult brain equated that to "upgraded fun adult milkshake" and I gave it a go. You know, I was quite disappointed overall. I was unable to taste any of the liquor and it, honestly, didn't seem like there was any in there. With none of the benefits of the booze and being more expensive than the regular milkshake - I guess I would've just ordered the regular at that point. We did pick up, so that the restaurant got all of the money and not have to any of their hard earned money to a third party delivery service. We placed the order with ease, and the food was ready quickly. They have a great process for pickup, you wait outside, and you call them and they bring you out food. Fast. Quick. Safe! Sloppy portions, but I mean this in the best sense! I really love Lucy's porky fries where a generous portion of pork is served on top of French fries. Speaking of fries, you can't go wrong with a classic burger with fries. My preference is cheddar cheese instead of American on my burger, but that's an easy substitution for the cooks. The staff is super friendly. As someone who just moved into the neighborhood, they made me feel right at home. I'll be back soon. I guess Lucy's is new around here. Honestly, I hope it survives after COVID because the food here is legit. We ordered a cheeseburger and the spicy chicken sandwich. The cheeseburger was awesome. I appreciate simplicity in burgers because if you get the flavor and cook of the beef right, it can be out of this world. This beauty is a two beef patty, two cheese slices was just pure goodness at every bite. The spicy chicken sandwich was so juicy. I personally love the addition of cheese to a chicken sandwich. My only one complaint was that it was not at all spicy! I was thinking it would either have the bite of a Wendy's spicy chicken, or the fire of a Nashville Hot. Unfortunately, it was neither. I live uptown, I work also in the restaurant industry at a high level. I get food costs and all. Not song long ago, for like $11 after tax you could get a very good burger AND fries at Lucy's. Unfortunately they are charging now $4 dollars for them, so a basic chicken burger will cost you close to $17 with fries. For a regular burger that is around $20 with fries. They charge now more than a sitting restaurant with full service and more than most restaurants around. A delivery restaurant charges more than something like fat cat who has full service and just 3 blocks away. Burger is good without being terrific and I won't come back as the ratio cost/quality is clearly not competitive in the area. Plus please train your cashier on telling the guest that fries are not included in the price, it does look good. I rarely leave reviews, I get COG's but over 4 dollars for fries is clearly excessive. read more

Welcome to Uptown, Lucy's! We stopped in this past weekend during the "soft" opening. Lucy's opened up at the corner of Wilson & Broadway on Thursday, February 20th. Conveniently located next to the newly remodeled Wilson CTA station, this restaurant is a welcome sight to the locals of Uptown. In the former location of "J&N Grille", Lucy's cooks up tasty chicken sandwiches, burgers, fries and more! The Signature Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich alone makes this a destination for any chicken sandwich lover. The sheer quantity of chicken on the sandwich is hard to fathom. I included a picture of the sandwich from the side but it barely does any justice. The golden French fries were crisp and complement the "crunch" you get from the chicken sandwich. There are also a few traditional flavors of milkshakes available along with vintage soda for those seeking a side of sweetness to their savory meal. Additionally, Lucy's carries the popular Beyond Meat burger. A Beyond patty can be substituted on several of the sandwiches on the menu, which is great for any vegetarian diners or those who are curious to try it! This place is going to be BUSY! It is so good! The spicy fried chicken was phenomenal! Not too spicy, delicious bread and butter pickles, cool coleslaw and so much chicken! The sizes of their sandwiches is unreal, it does make it hard to eat (so grab a fork and knife) but worth it for multiple pieces of tender fried chicken. Also absolutely get the garlic aoli dip at the self serve counter, so garlicy!! There are a lot of other things on the menu I'm excited to try like a bacon ham fried chicken and loaded fries! It was not my favorite experience in the city. Disclaimer: I came during opening night, so crowds may have affected my experience. Lucy's is a fried chicken restaurant chain in Chicago. This particular location is in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago by Broadway & Wilson. It's near impossible to miss if you're coming out of the Wilson red-line CTA station. I came to Lucy's thinking that it was related to Lucy's in Austin Texas. Imagine my surprise when I found out that they are two completely different chains. Alright, I don't mind trying something new. I ordered the Signature fried chicken sandwich, thinking it would be similar to Nashville-style spicy fried chicken with a sweet tea. Coming back from Nashville a few months ago, I was craving something to hit that certain spot. Sadly, what I received missed those expectations by a long shot. First off, the tea was not Southern sweet by any means. There was a lemon flavor added that made it taste...off. The chicken in my chicken sandwich was DARK. It seems that the staff didn't take time to change the oil in frying the chicken. I was also taken aback by the slice of cheese they put on the sandwich. I've never seen a chicken sandwich with a cheese slice. But the menu lists that as an ingredient so I can't peg them for that. And nothing was spicy at all. I was really looking forward to trying the Signature Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich, and I admit that it looks pretty good, but I was very disappointed. The chicken itself was fried to the point of ruin, with most of it turning into charred shrapnel or boot leather. The part that wasn't unsalvageable was fine but well past juicy and not at all spicy. The fries were nice, and I was excited to see garlic aioli, but it tasted a little off? Or funky in the way that food made in large batches sometimes does. My fries were cold and stuck together despite the fact that I got there before my it's ready for pickup message.
