    Pasta e Fagioli

My husband and I are both Italian and finding truly authentic Italian cuisine is something we enjoy. Amalfi was recommended to me by the owner of a local salon after I mentioned that my favorite Italian restaurant was too far away and would be closed by the time I finished my appointment. I was famished, so I decided to stop by Amalfi on my way home, hoping they might take a to-go order even though it was close to closing. From the moment I walked in, the experience felt warm, genuine and welcoming. While I waited for my order, the bartender pointed me to a high-top table where I could sit. I asked if I could order a bowl of Pasta e Fagioli to eat while I waited. Within minutes a steaming, fragrant bowl was placed in front of me. It looked so delicious - I snapped a pic and sent the photo to my husband. After coming in from the cold, the first spoonful warmed me. I tried to savor every bite, torn between wanting to linger and wanting the next spoonful. I wiped the bowl clean with the dinner bread. I had ordered two dinners to go, and when I got home, I showed my husband (who had already eaten) what I brought for him (Rigatoni Lorenzo). He insisted he didn't need anything, but after a couple of bites, he admitted how good it was. By the time I finished my meal (Melenzane alla Parmigiana), we knew we had found the place where we'd celebrate my birthday. Since that first visit in December, we've returned several times -- with friends, on our own, and even once when I was not feeling well, my husband picked up an extra-large Pasta e Fagioli for me. The servers and bartender remind us of family -- warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. On one of the coldest nights recently, we went for dinner and Liz was our server. She was an absolute sweetheart. Her service was thoughtful and well-paced. As the restaurant quieted down toward closing, we had the chance to chat with her. She made us feel like old friends. Every visit has reinforced how special Amalfi restaurant is and each visit has been memorable in its own way. We are looking forward to our next experience.

By far, best Italian restaurant in Roswell. The food is delicious. My favorite is the Linguine alle Vongole (linguini with clams). Also, the wine selection is great and Sal, the owner, is very knowledgeable and accommodating to your personal preferences and likes. The ambiance is great for a dinner with a group of friends or a romantic date. I highly recommend Amalfi!!

No reservation needed but this place gets packed! Got seated in 20 minutes. My first time and of course i got to try everything. Ordered the mussells, carpaccio, calamari for apps. As for entrees we ordered seafood pasta and chicken parmigiana. As for dessert the classic creme brulee.

Exceptional service on a Saturday eve by Jaimie. Nice atmosphere with dim candle lighting and a full bar. Great romantic dinner! Warm bread and Parmesan olive oil was served right away. Tried the veal Marsala and butternut squash with walnut and goat cheese. They do not take reservations and the place was full by 6pm.

I was looking forward to trying this Italian restaurant because I heard great reviews from friends and saw the overall great reviews on yelp. I was disappointed in the food when we ate and wanted to write an honest opinion. I have to say their Espresso Martini was honestly delicious, best one I have ever had anywhere! For our 2 entrees we got the shrimp scampi and the bowtie creamy mushroom white wine pasta. Both entrees were lacking in seasoning and flavor The bowtie mushroom pasta's mushrooms were not cooked long enough and had an off putting taste. The sauce in this pasta dish lacked salt and honestly just flavor. The shrimp scampi sauce was very plain, while I tasted the white vino & garlic it was way too mild and bland. Our server even grated fresh cheese over both of ours, which we hoped would help but it didn't. I hate that we were let down and I'm not sure if it was just an off night or short staffing of the cooks, or maybe a new cook trainee cooking this food.

It was ok to me. I had chicken parmesan, but it wasn't my favorite. It was a decent meal though.

Great so I wasn't walking from the parking structure off Alpharetta St. Either is free, but if you don't want to drop a few bucks to tip the valet .... I came in on a Friday evening without a reservation. Chose to sit at the bar. Had a great experience. Chatting with locals as well as the staff and enjoyed a nice meal and a few adult beverages. See photos. Grabbed a salad, some pasta and couldn't pass on the dessert. The Insalata Romana dressing was subdued so for those who don't like bold and zesty - it'll be right up their alley. Not too light though - any lighter and I might have asked for more seasoning. I enjoyed the flavors of the Tagliolini Bolognese. It was hearty, savory and I could see it being a comfort food me if I were a local. I would have liked the pasta to be on the Al dente side but it wasn't mushy to the point that there wasn't any chew. Also enjoyed the dessert. Great way to cap the meal. Really enjoyed the experience there overall. Sitting at the bar, not loud - kinda intimate. Maybe 10 seats. Beer, wine and spirits. Also a happy hour to finish out a work day. I've eaten at a few spots on Canton and I can say that for me, this is another spot I'd recommend and go back to.

They have outdoor dining which seems to have a great atmosphere but it was way too hot to dine outside. We typically love bars but this one was dark and uninviting. No thank you. We sat to the left as you enter the front door. Missing atmosphere-- wouldn't choose to sit here again. Service was impeccable. I couldn't decide what I wanted for a glass of wine and they offered to bring me glasses to sample. I love this-- I saw them offer same service to another table close by. We split the Caesar and they were kind enough to diving between two bowls. The only other place that does this for us is Cibo e Beve. The focaccia was wonderful with large flakes of salt on top and went great with their olive oil. We are truly picky Caesar eaters and this one had freshly shaved Parmesan and obvious homemade croutons. Pasta was fabulous for both of us. Would we dine here again? Definitely not the bar and probably not the dining room, but would come back to dine outdoors. Carrie was our waitress and she was fantastic.

I was not mad at all! So coming here you're going to have to worry about parking but there's a lot right next door. I think it's like $10 to park but you can also find other lots and if you could find street parking, that'd be great. Remember this is a residential area outside of this little district so you got to be careful where you park at. This place is pretty cool because it has a large space for seating, a really large bar, and plenty of outdoor seats as well. The dining room area is very large and the bar is pretty big but the outside area to me takes the cake. They have chairs and loungers and a fire pit, I think. It's really clutch if it's a really nice day out. The last time I went outside at the bar and ordered a couple of bites. The bartender was super cool, polite, no issue with the service. Garlic knots - so these came and I wasn't actually expecting them but they were good. Here, the last time I was there I wasn't offering any garlic knots so I didn't know that they gave these as an appetizer bread. They came with a good sauce and they were very buttery and glazed with butter and cheese. They weren't as pull-apart tender as I would have liked but they still had a really good flavor to them. Calamari - I ordered the calamari as well. I've actually had it before and it was really good so I went back for it. It comes with a really good marinara sauce that has plenty of chunks of tomato in it. The calamari itself is very good and savory and it comes plentiful. You may not even necessarily eat the sauce because it's pretty seasoned. Cheese sticks - I guess I wouldn't call these cheese sticks because they're more like triangles lol but they are really good. Deep-fried cheese triangles, they didn't miss. It had the typical issues you have when you fry something but at the same time they were good and had a really good cheese pull. I would definitely order these again. They came only in three but they were very nice sized. Overall I had a good experience. Again this is not my first time going but I would actually go back and try food because honestly I've only tried appetizers. I haven't actually tried dinner lol but I've had a really good experience every time I've been.

The atmosphere was nice, and the service was actually better from the trainee than from the woman who said she was training her. The food was just okay. My Grey Goose martini didn't taste like Grey Goose. It tasted like a different, cheaper vodka and went down very rough, even though Grey Goose is usually smooth. The drink was supposed to be sweet and fruity, but it didn't taste good at all. It had an odd, old taste to it. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. It was just okay and didn't really stand out. I've been to Italian restaurants where the pasta tasted extremely fresh and the sauce tasted homemade. I love Italian food, but this spot just wasn't it. My husband didn't like his food either and didn't eat it. He told the waitress who was training that the sauce was a bit overwhelming for the dish. She didn't seem concerned. She told him she was sorry he didn't like it and walked away. She didn't ask if he would like to try something else or offer any other solution. The waitress who was doing the training was very short and acted as if she didn't care throughout most of our meal. We are not in a hurry to go back, especially after feeling like we wasted our time and money.

Lots of options for those who love the fishery part of the concept and just as many choices for those that don't. We ordered the bruschetta and enjoyed their take that used fig jam, prosciutto and balsamic glaze instead of the more traditional tomato base. They have house made focaccia that when brought to the table we instantly regretted having ordered the bruschetta, thinking we overdid the bread thing. But we both quickly changed our minds and consumed both with little guilt... I would go back just for the focaccia alone and wish they sold it by the loaf! Pastas are made onsite but they get the gluten free version from a different supplier to avoid risk of cross contamination. Hubby had the wild boar pasta. I had the pork chop. My chop was perfectly grilled and moist. I asked for the marsala sauce on the side since I don't like mushrooms themselves, but enjoy the flavor they can add. The weakest link was the mashed potatoes, served in two round scoops reminiscent of school cafeteria lines. Other than the shape, there was nothing memorable nor particularly flavorful about them. Next time I would try a different side and keep the chop. We didn't save room for dessert this time but will definitely get some next time. And there will definitely be a next time. Moderate price point, not an everyday spot, but shouldn't be saved just for special occasions either.

The vibe here was buzzing on a Friday evening which seemed promising. We opted to sit at the bar which I do NOT recommend if you plan on eating. It is extremely tight seating and the bartenders aren't not trained to serve food or have menu knowledge. The lack of the kitchen staff culinary skills became evident when looking at the menu with many seafood/pasta items being served with one sauce- a goopy cornstarch'ish lemon butter sauce. We wanted to try the scampi appetizer with their house made pasta - sans dairy which meant no lemon butter sauce. That seemed to throw a wrench and there was much back and forth between the BT to the kitchen explaining what that meant aka do not cook the food with butter use olive oil- not so complicated, right? 30 minutes later - despite the kitchen staff not being busy- reminder, we are sitting at the bar and watch the cooks looking at their cellphones instead of working... The small portion of a couple shrimp and scallops arrive. They were panned seared- highly seasoned but tasty. Pasta arrived dry ? Huh? Who serves dry pasta- ugh? I asked for olive oil again which never appeared despite a manager hearing the request. So, moving along, we decided to try the calamari. It came out much faster but the portion was enough for 8-10 people. BT- oh, I forgot to tell you it is such a large portion... Maybe offer a half portion? It was okay- nothing amazing except the quantity. So disappointed- we had high hopes that the vibe matched the food quality.
