Specifically, I usually order a large thin crust pizza with green peppers and onions. However, the last couple of times I ordered their pizza it was extremely soggy and uncooked in the middle. When I expressed my concern to the owner, he was mad and aggravated. I ignored these mistakes for a couple of times, however 2 days ago I tried the pizza once again and it was almost completely raw! So there were all these cars thumping their music and I couldn't hear the person on the speaker trying to take my order. I very politely asked the young girl if they were going to do anything about these cars that are blocking my way out of the parking lot given that I have a bunch of kids in my car. They said "they're not bothering anybody." I said I'm taking my business elsewhere and I will do so from now on. On the way out I noticed one of the employees was out there. Been coming here since I was a kid and I'm so disappointed to see how disrespectful and uncaring this place has gotten. Last time I went, I came through the drive thru after work around 10pm and ordered a #1, both hotdogs plain. When I received my food, both hotdogs had everything on it, which I did not care to be mad because mistakes happen. I went inside and told them the mistake, they then remade both hotdogs. When I came back into my car, I took a bit Of my first hotdog, AND IT WAS COLD. It literally was as if it's been sitting there since the morning. I had to go in there a second time. I must of been at Luke's exchanging hotdogs for about 45 min, because they were so slow and uncaring about their customers. After this terrible experience, I decided to give this place another try (about 3 weeks after the first incident). I came through the drive through, just like last time but around 12, and this time was with my boyfriend. I ordered a #7, and when I told them I wanted a slice of cheese, they lady though the teller told me they didn't have any more cheese pizza, but were making some and would be ready in 20 min. After this I was debating with my boyfriend if I should wait or get something else, but decided to wait. I asked the lady though the teller "you said it's 20 min?", just to verify the time cause she said they were making another one. The female employee with the red hair came onto the teller insanely snobby and rude and said, "you expect me to make an 18 inch pizza for one slice?" The most immature part about it was the clear smart ass attitude, which I completely able to recognize through the telling machine. Usually I have no issue with Luke's - altho recently the pizza seems to have changed. But we ordered from here last night and were extremely disappointed. Something was off about the beef or the fries...I got food poisoning and have been up extolling the food from one end or the other since 1am. I have dined at Lukes for decades. On Saturday (March 24th) I went Luke's Pizza (3130 N Harlem Chicago Il 60634) with my service dog, who travels with me everywhere due to a medical condition. After placing my order and paying for it, a gentleman who identified himself as the owner told me I had to take "the dog" outside. It should be noted that my service dog is clearly and properly marked as a such with an orange reflective vest that says "SERVICE DOG'" in bold letters and his calm focused demeanor reflects such, as he is a highly trained and certified medical response dog. I explained that he is a service dog and is allowed everywhere I am, including restaurants. He told me he didn't care, then asked what service he provided and demanded proof that he was a service dog. I calmly explained that federal law prohibits him from inquiring and that I was not going to provide him with my medical information. He then told me I had to leave. I told him I paid for my food and that we were going to remain there and eat it. He began yelling at me and the autistic 14 year old boy (my girlfriend's son) I had with me, demanding we leave. Trying not to aggravate the situation, I suggested he research the law as it pertains to this in that as a restaurant owner he is required by the ADA to know. He said he didn't want to research it and didn't care. As he continued to demand we leave, I again told him we were not leaving and suggested he should call the police if he had a problem. He did so, and based on what I could hear of the conversation was told exactly what I had previously stated. He demanded that officers respond regardless, then told me that I was wasting taxpayer money because it was my fault he had to summon the police. As we ate our food he approached our table and told me he made a mistake even giving me my food. We finished eating and I remained waiting for the police to respond. When officers arrived they were very professional and explained to the owner what the law was and told him he could not ask me to leave based on having a service dog. He then became even more agitated and belligerent with the officers as he obviously didn't want to accept what they had told him. They attempted to explain this to him repeatedly. He said he wanted me to charge me then with trespassing because of my "attitude." They again told him I was doing nothing to warrant this. He then made a slur in reference to the autistic boy. He also said that people could have dog allergies so I should not be able to have him there. With the officer's permission, we left the establishment at this point. This entire incident was witnessed by about 10 other patrons and several employees. I attempted to record this on my phone as it spiraled out of control but was only able to get bits as I have only one functioning hand. I would like to make it clear that in the 3+ years I have had with my service dog I have never been treated like this at any dining establishment nor anywhere else, and we dine out quite a bit. I have never had the police summoned and never been so humiliated. I have filed formal complaints with the U.S. Department of Justice, Illinois Attorney General's Office, Cook County State's Attorney's office, and the Chicago Department of Business and Consumer Affairs. read more

Large fries, and chicken tenders....turns out they gave 4 chicken tenders from elementary school...thin, super freezer like...also, my French fries were some done and some WERENT fully done. I called the restaurant to try and do something about my order...and instead of getting my money back...I was only get offered 10% off my NEXT order...money, and food down the drain. The only reason to order from here is because it's open late. The delivery time is horrible. They quote 45-60 minutes, it takes longer. The food is not hot, nor warm. If you get a pop it will be flat by the time you get it. Unless you're drunk the food isn't worth the wait. Lukes! I've been coming to this place for years now. I love the food and the staff is always really nice. They have awesome combos I love their hotdogs their burgers and the slices of pizza are really good too. The main reason I'm not giving Lukes five stars is because they're pretty overpriced compared to other hotdog joints like this. Meh - I used to go here as a teenager so when we drove by it I had to stop in. You get a huge sack of fries but sadly they were limp undercooked things. I had the meatball sandwich. This has become my new local beef place. It's a little farther drive than another decent option, but I like the beef here better than anything else around. My beef's never been overcooked, even during off hours, and the juice is very flavorful- highly seasoned. So it's not very beefy, but tasty anyway. Eh, I was not impressed 20 years ago, and after two decades of avoiding this place, I gave it another try, and got the exact same feeling. I ordered a combo with sweet peppers and asked them to dip it, a small order of fries, and a slice of pepperoni pizza through the drive-thru. When I got home, I found the beef was dry as a bone - a biggg disappointment! That, alone, was enough to ruin the whole thing for me. The beef was ok, as in not fatty, but it was very curly, which is a sign of boiling it instead of slow cooking it in a nice simmer, and it was a little bland, especially without the extra juice I asked for and didn't get. The sausage on there didn't taste bad, but boy was it skinny! Not even the size of the sausage I get from Jewel! The sweet peppers tasted boiled, and not very good. The fries were way too skinny and rubbery - I couldn't even enjoy them. And they didn't even put a single packet of ketchup in the bag, either. The pizza was awful. They're so CHEAP and SKIMPY with the sauce and cheese - although they did put a lot of slices of pepperoni on it, even though the pepperoni was very bitter tasting. The scant amount of sauce had a definite 'canned' quality about it, and tasted a little too ketchupy for me. And unlike the cheese on the pizza at Mr Beef's, which is thick and gooey and pulls away in strings when you take a bite out of it, this cheese had NO pull at all - it was like taking a bite out of a slice of the single serving American cheese slices - plus it was so THINLY LAYERED, the cheese was as flat as a piece of paper, with none of those delicious brown bubbly spots that you get on a REAL pizza. I'm a native born Chicagoan, and a good 50lbs of my body comes from eating Italian beef sandwiches and pizza - if you want a good beef, the BEST and most flavorful beef (and believe me, I've tried them ALL) go to Marco's on Fullerton and Austin. I don't particularly care for their pizza, either, though. But their fries are really good, the perfect thickness to sink your teeth into, with a nice golden outside and a super moist inside. Plus they have Cherry Coke - which is way too hard to find around here! The pizza I like the best from one of these beef stand joints is Mr Beef's pizza, on Harlem, just a bit before the mall. Their beefs are pretty good, too, but Marco's beats them all hands down. I only picked Lukes because it's close, and the drive-thru is open late. I love Luke's! I moved into the neighborhood back in October and we stumbled upon this place during a late night desire for a good cheeseburger and cheese fries. We haven't stopped ordering take out or stopping in since. As I said, ordering the cheeseburger is a staple for us. The cheese fries are great, and even if they get cold at the house, the cheese still makes them delectable. They recently added the drive up window which I find to be convenient when I'm still in my PJs and don't want to make it completely obvious that today is a no cooking, no showering, a "do nothing" day. Luke's is always there to save the day. I also love that it's late night. My boyfriend gets off work late (bar industry) so it's nice to have some options other than the 24 hour McDonalds down the street that is by the way horrible compared to Luke's. The service is always nice, and whenever we order for delivery they are right on it and here within 20 minutes if not sooner. Sometimes I'm really amazed. I feel like I spoke to a genie, and poof! The buzzer rings. I also met Steve the other night. I believe he was the owner. He seemed like such a great guy. We had some laughs in the drive thru window and off I went. The food is always quick and I have never complained, but I order what I know. Last year, I tried it and sausage at Johnnie's and was blown away with flavor and value. But, still needing my fix, I searched out Luke's hoping to be equally impressed. Not even close. The drive thru was convenient. But the food quality just wasn't there. The beef was well textured, but low on the flavor. The bread was awful. Tasted like stale bread that was microwaved. Soggy in parts, inedibly tough in other parts. The actual sausage was the best part (I took out of the bun). But the price was pretty high for what I got. I ordered a Italian Beef with sweet&hot peppers. A sausage with sweet peppers. And a Large Fry. I also asked for hot sauce and was charged $.50 for a little thing of Frank's. The amount of peppers I received was comically small (literally 3 pieces on my sausage). My total out the door was over $15. I could have gotten so much more better tasting food had I been a little more punctual! Anyways... Sorry Luke. But you just didn't bring it. Customer service was Ok. Went to Luke's to try the beefs after reading the Yelp reviews. The beefs are OK. The fries I didn't care for as they are skinny and thus don't hold heat well (i.e. they get cold fast and cold fries suck). We also tried their "garlic cruncher" side/appetizer. Garlic cruncher? Sounds interesting. The reality is that it's just mediocre garlic bread. Skip it unless you have a real craving for toasted bread with garlic butter. The service was good and the folks were friendly.
