Service sucks here. Ring a bell and wait over 15 min for the waiters walk by and to ignore you.

Some pretty good pasta, but the prices and quality of service do not really match. The location is easy to find and was not very busy on a Sunday evening. The menu looks quite amazing with a great selection of pastas and appetizers. We initially receive some complimentary bread but it seemed like it was mixed in with some old stale pita-like bread. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be focaccia, but the flat pieces of bread were difficult to chew and dried out (probably left in a food warmer for too long?). The other bread was great, soft chewy inside and crunchy exterior with a taste somewhere between a baguette and sour dough. I already had my eyes set on the short rib tortellacci ($27) and the girlfriend decided to go with the gnocchi with meat sauce ($19) with added mozzarella on top ($2 additional). The tortellacci had a good amount of black truffle shaved on top and the overall taste was quite amazing. The portion of gnocchi was generous but the additional mozzarella clustered on less than half of the pasta dish rather than evenly over the whole entree. Basically it looked like a pool of gnocchi with a patch of melted mozzarella on the side. I would easily order the tortellacci again because the flavor, texture, and sauce was really savory and delicious. The server was very friendly and welcoming but he never came back to check on our table after taking our order down. He was also extremely difficult to flag down to receive the check or to even take the check back for processing. Other staff (including the host) had to help with our small requests, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a server. Overall, the price is a bit high for subpar service and although the food does hit the spot for Italian cravings, I'll probably never come back again. read more

We were going to stuff ourselves with some cajun goodness, but covid19 directed us to try Luna Rossa. We never looked back. Calamari fritti was crispy fresh off the fryer and scrumptious dipped in sauce. Salmone pizza was very salty, cheesy and smoky. The spaghetti with marinara sauce is on point. Luna Rossa is located in a beautiful outdoor mall in Tustin. I only wish that their hours were better on weekdays. Our party barely had time to order, eat and be told they were closing at 9 PM. We tried the night before and wait was too long. Expect a must shorter review than I would normally write, this was a quick visit. Hostess was great and got our party of three seats out on the cozy patio with live music. Orders were put in quickly and bread came out not too long after. The waiter was excellent and on top of our table. However, this was not too hard since he maybe had a few dinners left with close approaching. I did not see the dining room inside, so no comment. Outdoor patio was terrific and would recommend with So Cal climate on almost any night. They have warmers when it gets cool too. I don't recall what everyone one had, not even myself now. What I do know is it came out quickly which was necessary. Bruschetta appetizer delicous. Capri salad also yum! Main Entree pasta dishes were great. Drink refills were very slow as waiter disappeared for a while, I suppose preparing for close. Best thing for us was a 20% of total bill Yelp check-in, make sure you use it. read more

Came here on a Thursday with reservations for my mom's birthday. It's in a mall so there's ample parking. We were a group of 7 and at the time of reservations, we couldn't decide whether we wanted indoors or outdoors but they prepared both anyway, which is nice. They charge corkage for wine FYI. The servers were very nice and accommodating. Let me just say that the pizza is definitely not for one person. For a group of 8 we had the risotto, some pasta dishes (rigatoni con salsicca and the beef short rib tortellacci) , some appetizers, and 2 pizzas (Al tartufo and the meat one). We ordered more but i can only remember what I was able to taste - again there was a lot! We also ordered the bruschetta which tasted really refreshing, and the crostini. They were nice enough to split these so we could all sample these. Most of the pizzas became leftovers unfortunately because after all the food we were all full. Towards the end they had a birthday dessert for my mom which was great. Overall it's a good experience. Definitely a lot of food. read more

I came here with my dad for a quick lunch. After seeing the cute patio area, I would have preferred to come at night and sit outside, but the inside was still nice. For lunch, I had the minestrone soup and salad and my dad had their chicken sandwich. My soup was good. I enjoyed it mainly because it had a vegetable base broth as opposed to a beef or tomato broth. It tasted homemade and had a ton of flavor. I didn't care for the salad or salad dressing, but the soup made up for it. My dad liked his chicken sandwich, which is rare considering he complains about any food that doesn't include saffron and/or basmati rice. The music on Saturday evenings is a little weird, but ok if you're not sitting too close to the singer / speakers. Reservations are (back to being) a requirement most nights! I was previously in love with the Risotto Ai Funghi Porcini, it's still a very good dish but I now found the Fettuccine Ai Funghi Porcini to be even better with stronger mushroom flavor. Yes I know they're essentially the same dish, one with rice the other with pasta, so I can now have two choices whenever I go there. Note that other dishes are good too according to my family and friends who ordered them during our previous visits. The atmosphere is very Italian and most servers speak fluent Italian. Very clean inside. Restaurant is inside a mall so really fun location as well. SERVICE: Service here was good. The hostess was insanely busy she was running all over the place while being on the phone getting a reservation. Our server was very nice and helpful as well. It took a while until the server came to get our order but it is understandable around dinner rush time. FOOD: I really enjoyed the food a lot. I ordered the Shrimp Pasta plate and it came out amazing! The Margherita Pizza was very delicious as well. The only thing I did not like is the calamari. I used to love this place for the food and friendly wait staff but after my last (and final) experience, I am thoroughly disappointed. Extremely poor service of all night's... Valentine's Day. Upon arriving promptly at our reservation time, we waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated, something I often let slide. But on this night, we also waited an hour for our entrees... perhaps it would have been longer if we had not flagged someone down. Our server was nowhere to be found, we had to flag another staff member down. There seemed to be a lot of confusion... did our server forget to put our order in?? It got sorted and we waited maybe another 15-20 minutes for our entrees and lo and behold, our server finally made an appearance to let us know our dinner would arrive soon. The Manager came over to settle the situation, however her demeanor was unapologetic. It's Valentine's Day night... you should have had a full staff and pulled out all the stops for your patrons. Alas, that wasn't the case, at least for us. The Manager took less than 10% off our bill and gave us 1 free beer... for a party of 4. Appalled. read more

My husband and I wanted to try it for many years. One day, we decided to go and check this place out. The food was okay, nothing special. My husband got fettuccine Alfredo and you had to add if you like. He got chicken, but when the server came, he got little chicken. When mine came, of course, I had to peel everything. I had spaghetti alla pescatora. The drinks were overprice. The server didn't even fill it up all the way. For what we paid, it was not worth it. We almost paid $100. We paid cash, so we would like to receive exact change so we can tip him. When he return, he was short on change, so he gave us short on change and quickly left. Of course, the chef complimented for a free ice cream. Still, we would not go there again. Either lower the price, or we will go somewhere else. My wife and I barley get out as it is and to see the owner not professionally dressed and sitting on a table talking to a friend about how she owns the place is far from class and what I am I paying for the owner to brag about this restaurant and ruin my experience. The band outside is terrible the food is far from any Italian food I know . Save your money and go to Olive Garden . Now I'm never that petty person who leaves 1-star reviews, but I couldn't help but give others a taste of our HORRIBLE experience here. Let me start off by saying if this review was solely based on food, they would have probably received a 4-star. The food was the only redeeming factor of this entire place. At least from the plates that we actually received... HOWEVER, we all know that delicious food is NOT the only factor that makes a SPECTACULAR, 5-star restaurant. From the minute we walked into this place, EVERYONE was rude. The first word that came out of the hostesses mouth was "do you have a reservation?"... Umm are you serious? No kind welcome or smile, just a blunt question. Anyways, we did have a reservation. She quickly found our name and seated us. From this point-on, the experience got even worse. My boyfriend and I had our order ready, so when the waiter came around, we told him exactly what we wanted - two glasses of wine, an appetizer of calamari, one pizza and one truffle pasta. Mind you - the waiter was writing all of this down on a note-pad. After 10 minutes or so, our main entrees came out. Keep in mind, nobody had given us an update on our calamari appetizer and nobody has brought us our wines... I'm sorry but making a cocktail can require quite some time, but pouring two glasses of wine TAKES SECONDS. Per usual, my boyfriend and I were quiet and we ate our meal while anxiously waiting for our drinks and/or appetizer to arrive... well yeah, neither of them ever did! At this same time, my boyfriend looked around and noticed that our water was served in cups that looked different from every other tables... hmm, then we realized there was one other couple with the same cups as ours. Not to make any generalizations here but it was interesting that the ONLY TWO ETHNIC COUPLES in the restaurant were given different water glasses, compared to every other person in the restaurant.. Yeah, you might say, maybe they ran out of their glasses but I DO NOT BELIEVE that any restaurant should have fancy glasses and mediocre glasses. Have the right amount of glasses for everyone. Isn't that common sense? It automatically made me realize that they were treating us sub-par because of our background. It's 2020! Everyone deserves to have a nice water glass, not just the white folks. Well, our bill finally came and guess what - THEY TRIED CHARGING US FOR THE TWO GLASSS OF WINE THAT WE NEVER RECEIVED!!! When we brought this to our waiter's attention, he chuckled and asked us why we didn't remind him. Excuse me, but that's your job sir. We shouldn't have to remind you what our order was when YOU WROTE IT DOWN IN FRONT OF US! If you thought the story was over, it's not. The waiter brought us a revised receipt (without the drink charges THANK GOD) and my boyfriend placed his card there. Remember, the waiter has completely forgotten about our calamari and we are so over this place at this point. Finally, the check comes back and guess what? HE'S ACCIDENTALLY BROUGHT US SOMEONE ELSE'S RECEIPT AND CREDIT CARD. So to sum it up - this place is rude, racist, forgetful, AND they might just charge you for the wrong order and potentially leak your private card information to another person? I am torn on this restaurant. I remember liking it during my first visit, years ago. But, since then, as our circle of friends joke, almost every time we pass by on our way to a movie, "...at least it is better than Olive Garden!" Mind, that is not saying much. I, and we collectively, have frequented this establishment many times over the years, often at the request of a friend for a birthday or quick craving for Italian food amidst a town of Asian cuisine. The food is not bad, but it isn't "good." Example already pointed out, yes it is better than Olive Garden-- but, almost anything is! My main problem with this place is that it is rarely the same experience twice. I've had pasta so sticky that it is glue, then I've had pasta so au dente, it was too hard of a chew. I often ask for light sauce, but moreso than not, despite such requests, I have gotten dishes drenched in sauce. This complete opposite is an easy problem to pin on a server that doesn't pay attention enough to fully listen. The prices are average for this sort of Italian place. The ambiance is pretty bland. Yes, it can be nice to sit outside on the patio on a night summer night, but looking around, there really is nothing special about this place to make you want to rush back. And, mind-- when you do sit outside you may be pressed up against the railing as dozens of people continually walk by, meandering The District, peering into your food, stopping mere inches away to scream at their children, take an angry phone call, etc. These antics can present themselves as highly entertaining and hysterical at times. Hey-- free entertainment?! Live dinner theater?! But, it really wears thin quickly when you want to simply eat or have a quiet meal out with close friends. If I am here again any time soon, it is not of my own doing. It would be because someone requested we attend. What used to be good, seems very mediocre at best these days. Excellent. Portions were huge. Full of flavor. Ordered on the phone for pick up during COVID, and was pleasantly surprised at the super friendly service when I came to pick up my order. We all need a little more happiness in the current state of this world. Much appreciated. Will 100% order the vodka penne and pappardelle/tagliatelle bolognese again. Caesar salad was great, and I don't often compliment Caesar salads. We were driving when we called in the order, so we didn't have a menu to read off of, but the man on the phone was so kind and patient and had a wonderful "can-do" attitude and adorable italian accent. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of pasta and that's probably because I haven't been to the right place... until now. Every dish we ordered was delicious and between a family of four, a salad, fried calamari, pasta, and cioppino (?) was a perfect variety of flavors that complemented each other wonderfully. (I'd have more pictures but we couldn't wait to dig in!) Salad (5/5): Large (great for 4 people), delicous balsamic dressing Fried Calamari (4.5/5): High Quality calamari, delicious breading. This restaurant is hands down the best Italian I have ever had. I ordered the Tortallacii, which is a pasta filled with short rib covered in Alfredo sauce. The short rib was tender and the sauce is out of this world. I finished my entire plate. No left overs. My friend ordered the carne pizza. The crust is thin and they pile on the cheese. So amazing. I felt that was a bit rude There were only three other parties. We didn't get our drinks untill we reminded him after our lunch was served. When the drinks arrived it wasn't the correct ones. We didn't get any refills on our water, lemonade, soda or wine because noone helped us. The other parties were helped and attended to. I couldn't get any eye contact untill it was time to pay. I'm sure I was double charged for a lemonade/soda, but no big deal. This was a few months ago. I thought maybe he's just having a bad day. So having worked in the industry, I tipped extra hefty so he could have a great day. Last month I was craving the gnocchi and decided it was time to visit Luna Rossa. Unfortunately I had a similar experience with my family. Good food, bad service. I'm happy with the food quality, annoyed by the lack of service and wrong drinks. I will be visiting in two weeks for a friend's belated birthday. She is the one who recommended this place and I hope we will be treated a bit more fairly. This was the best surprise in Tustin! $3 rosé Thursday was soooooo worth it! The bread had the most amazing textures - very crispy and crunchy crust w/ chewy, soft insides. The faint aroma of the freshly baked bread illuminated my senses. I thought it was delicious enough that I didn't need any olive oil or vinaigrette! The Caesar salad was well done - very fresh lettuce & light on the dressing. Croutons were nice and crunchy. I had the egg pasta fettuccine w/ mushroom and shrimp. The sauce was surprisingly flavorful yet light on the cream - so many restaurants overdo the cream in fettuccine and it was nice to not be overwhelmed by the heaviness! The noodles had great texture and captured the sauce well. Staff was so friendly and ambiance was calm yet warm. Definitely would come back when I'm in the area! Delicious meals, wine, and lovely acoustic music but terrible service. This restaurant is white table cloth dining that's comfortable, romantic. The waitress began the night without introducing herself nor bother with telling us what the specials of the night was. The menu is extensive and she didn't care to offer suggestions when I asked her on a few things. We ordered calamari, beef carpaccio, lobster ravioli, and mushroom fettuccine. All delicious. So I'm still enjoying my appetizer and then the entrees suddenly appear. Um, what? That's not ideal dinner service. We finish our entrees and had time for desserts before the movies. My boss ordered the shrimp Caesar salad, my co worker ordered the spicy penne and I ordered the tortellacci short rib. The short rib pasta was topped with a creamy, buttery white sauce and there was truffle shavings. Which explains the hefty price tag. It was $27 for six pieces of tortellacci. And the waiter heard us say anniversary and gave us a panna cotta. Both my co workers had a bite and I finished the rest. I love sweets. Warning - The meal was heavy. I LOVE Italian food and I am always on a look out for great Italian restaurants. My boyfriend surprised me for my birthday dinner at this location and he mentioned that setting up a reservation through Yelp was pretty easy and quick. Great date night spot! It is pretty easy to locate, Google Map takes you right to the location. There is ample amount of parking available since they share a parking lot with other businesses, will just need to walk a little. I liked the decor - had the authentic Italian vibe. We went on a Saturday night and surprisingly enough it wasn't that crowded at all, they did have a live band playing outside. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating options. Food was good, but we felt like service could have been little better. We let our server know that we are vegetarian but one of our main dish had chicken in it. After that little confusion, he didn't even come to our table to apologize or mentioned anything when he gave our bill. I checked in on Yelp and at that time they had free bruschetta offer - obviously, we ended up ordering one and our waiter was confused at first when we mentioned to waive bruschetta from our bill. He was pretty reluctant for good 5-7 minutes in explaining to us that we should have ordered that first before and let him know before the bill was prepared. -- Bruschetta: it was good, quite filling for an appetizer since it had LOT of tomatoes. -- Penne Alla Vodka: ended up adding more veggies to this and didn't realize that the proportions were so huge -- Fettuccine Al Funghi Porcini: recommended by our server, loved the creaminess of the sauce.
