This is probably one of my favorite whole in the wall places I have ever been to. I love a place that is simple, reasonably priced and delicious. I came on a weekday around 6 pm. It was really easy for me to find street partking but once you get close you will see parking on both sides of the road. Make sure that you pay for it with the app to avoid a ticket. This is a place where you can only order once so you have to make sure that you are ordering enough food. My picks were the dumplings fried, the spring rolls, theduck salad, the Tom Kah soup, and the pad thai. EVERYTHING was great! I loved the duck salad the sauce was the perfect amount of spicy. I absolutely LOVE this place. Yes is quirky, yes it has an order all at once policy and it is a whole in the wall. But that's what makes it unique. Well, that and the amazing food. I have been there three times and always leave thinking about what to order next time. All the apps are great and the food is delicious and generous. I read a review claiming small portions and poor service. Not sure what they were expecting but my experience has always been wonderful. Flavor profiles are on point, powerful and genuine. Lung Yai is honestly the best Thai in Miami. It is on 8th street. You can easily pass it not knowing how good it is. I suggest that you do not come during peak hours. As you will have to wait. We can for an early dinner. Sat down outside. The server was so sweet. Gave us so many suggestions. I was in the mood for a good noodle. I went with the flat noodle. It was sooooo good ! I grew up in Thailand, moved to the US when I was 16. This restaurant is only impressionable to people who have never had Thai food. You can only order once. What kind of backwards third world country crap is that. You don't even offer Nam prick Nam plah. You don't have Thai bbq chicken. Your crying tiger is burn deep fried cheap beef. Your menu is 7 items. You would be the worst Thai restaurant in LA but since you're in Miami with no Thai standard you got a bib gourmand. Your Cow mun gai is dry chicken breast over dry jasmine rice. It's supposed to be rice cooked in juicy chicken broth with dark meat and the skin in the chicken. You are a fraud. Let's start by the fact that it's almost always packed and you generally have to wait to get in. You have to order everything you want in one try .... Better Study that menu well and maybe even order some extra food!! (I know it's odd and even sometimes annoying, but that's how they keep the service quick and efficient) But then there is the food, it's just always delicious and never fails! This time I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai, Kao Soi Gai, and steamed dumplings. All the flavors were on point and I would recommend all these dishes. Ohh... my only complaint about Lung Yai, is a ridiculous one, but it has to be the gaps in the small outdoor tables. This place was very, very hyped up which may have tainted my experience (but at the end of the day this is a MB restaurant so it should be held to high standards)! We arrived on a weekday and waited about 15 min to be seated (table of 2). They only let you order once (which I'm not sure how I feel about yet) and they have a pretty large selection of yummy dishes. Best thai food I've had in a very very long time! My friends a local to Miami and brought us here to specifically try the khao soi, which was definetely my favorite option on the menu:) everything on the menu tasted super fresh and authentic, and I found the portions were definitely shareable. They have limited seating and make it a point to get people in and out quickly to reduce wait times (so probably don't come here if you want to dine in to catch up with people). Hidden gem with delicious Thai food. The restaurant does not take reservations and often has a long wait. I went at 5:30 on a Friday night and got seated right away. They take your order at one time and do not allow you to add to your order after you place it. The Shrimp and Calamari Herb Salad was great and very spicy. The Khao Soi with Chicken was phenomenal. I also enjoyed the Jungle Curry Fried Rice with Shrimp and the Duck Basil, but there was a little too much oil in both dishes. Was stoll working on my soup when they brought everything else out so it could get cold. Was just trying to enjoy a catch up dinner with my friend but it felt like staff was rushing us. I asked for water 3 times and a waiter never brought it to me. Got the bill without asking for it and when I paid it they asked us to leave a couple minutes later because there were others waiting for a table. We were not even seated at our table for more than an hour and I've never been asked to leave a restaurant in my life. Also watch out for the extra tip charges on the bill as they already charge a service charge and somehow 8% tax??? Disappointing experience; surprised they have a Michelin. Came on a Saturday for lunch and luckily there wasn't any wait for a table. Got the thai coffee, papaya salad, Khao Soi, and crab/pork dry noodles. Thai iced coffee ($5): It's super sweet, so may not be for everyone, but pretty refreshing on a hot day Papaya salad ($13): decent, but with the lime juice, I'm not as much of a fan of the sharp tangy/sour sauce of this papaya salad, but it still balanced out the other dishes well. Khao Soi ($15 + $3 for shrimp): still my favorite thai dish of all time and this didn't disappoint! The curry was definitely on the sweeter side than other curries that I've had. It's thick, creamy, topped with a bunch of crunchy fried noodles, and the noodles underneath had a nice contrasting soft chew. I would totally get this again Crab & Pork Dry noodles ($15): I loved the crab meat. The egg noodles were so thin and soft that it reminded me of thin vermicelli. Also surprisingly sweeter than I expected, but still savory and good. For the portion sizes, they're smaller than what I get at other places for the same price but I would have to say in this case, the quality of the food makes it worth it. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but I personally wouldn't bring a large party since the tables are narrow but it's harder to walk through. It's a shame there's no online ordering site because I would definitely come by more if I can pick up online orders. Location is on the busy street of Calle Ocho, and you'll have to find street parking, but it isn't too bad especially if you go early enough in the day. My last visit was shortly before the pandemic lockdown. Tonight was a refreshing return. On arrival, we signed in to the wait list and were told it would be a 30 min wait. My dining companions each grabbed a beer and we patiently watched the list quickly dwindle. After 20 min we were seated outside. Our server arrived and we placed our entire order as required - later additions are not permitted. Appetizers arrived quickly. Spring rolls, steamed pork dumplings, fried mushrooms and fried riblets. All were fantastic and assigned dipping sauces worked interchangeably. The dumplings were meaty bites. The spring rolls (2/order) were crispy and well stuffed so they were not just skins. The riblets were delicious little bone-in pork nibbles piled high and perhaps my favorite. The mushrooms were tempura-style battered snackings that retained their juiciness inside. A side of sticky rice was sweet and fragrant. Main courses arrived after another few minutes. My friends' bowls of green curry with tofu and Khao Soi with chicken disappeared quickly. My beef pad kee moa tossed up with veggie and broad noodles was a tasty bowl of comfort that was seasoned well with just the right hint of added heat. Proteins can all be added by choice. Of significant note, service was excellent with none of the historic hovering or pressure to get moving. Very reasonably priced. I look forward to returning very soon. It's off Calle-Ocho(SW 8th St), didn't even know there was this mom & pop style Thai place in Little Havana. Good luck with street parking or take an Uber. 5 of us came here for lunch, it's a very small place, a few tables on the sidewalk out front, about 5 tables in the patio area, maybe a few inside at the counter. They will not seat you until everyone in your group has arrived. We were able to get the big table, it's like a picnic table. We looked over the menu, they have a lot of your favorite Thai dishes that include noodles, soups, salads, rice dishes, curries, and a few specialty dishes. Everything looked pretty good, it was about 90 degrees outside, so I decided to keep it on the cool side and got the "Somtam"(papaya salad) with a side of crispy Spring Rolls. Also, I tend to try out a traditional staple dish to gauge the place for future visits. Papaya salad seemed to be freshly made, good flavor, and perfect for the hot weather, they didn't blow it up with chilis but I'm sure they could if you asked. Spring Rolls was crisp, nicely fried up and perfect lunch pair. If I remember, I think everyone else got either a rice or noodle dish. They seemed to enjoy it and no issues from anyone. At least for our lunch visit, it's not a huge portion but it was just right in my book. Didn't feel like it wasn't enough or feel jipp'd. Mom & pop style, noodle and rice dishes served in a bowl like your Thai grandma would give you. Overall, glad to have come check them out, service was fine, my co-workers enjoyed it, prices aren't crazy, some of us talked about this place being a good take-out place to take dinner home, well we work nearby so yea I can see that. We were excited to try Lung Yao Thai due to its Michelin star. The food was good and fresh, but was expecting more spice and flavor. My red curry was pale and sweet when I asked for heat. The Basil duck was good and the pad Thai was good but lacked spice as well a little sweet. The papaya salad was good but needed chilies and needed to be muttered a bit more.The service was underwhelming and we were rushed to charge, so the next customer waiting by the door outside can come into an outdoor area that's small hot and uncomfortable. The idea you can only order once is quite disturbing. I would try it again, but only for take out. Customer service way below par for an 18% surcharge. My advice is order for takeout. read more

I stumbled upon this restaurant because it was always full when I would walk eighth Street. It is a hole on the wall and there's usually a weight but if you get lucky you must stop by and grab a bite. It won't regret it. We were able to make it 30 minutes into their diner service on a weekday and snagged a coveted spot. You can only order once so we got 3 entrees: crab fried rice, khao soi w/ beef, pad see ewe and 3 appetizers: rabbit baby back ribs, dumplings (fried) and the 5 piece wings. I got a Thai tea and others ordered soda. We absolutely loved everything we ordered. I would highly recommend the ribs and crab fried rice. Everything was perfectly comforting and we devoured it all. Sometimes I read some of these reviews and I ask myself "did we go to the same restaurant? Did the owner die and their evil relatives take over?" This restaurant is below mediocre. 1. There is no AC inside. And there's no AC outside. So, this being Miami, you cook. The noise in the interior is fearsome, because some awful music and any conversation just bounces around. 2. The tables are tiny tiny tiny and they are made of wooden slats separated by the width of 1 1/2 or 2 fingers, so your utensils are always falling all over the place. Uncomfortable to no end. 3. I tried the Papaya salad. Some stringy something or other, no Papaya, just some lettuce on the side and then some thin watery dressing. Awful. 4. The curry is a bowl of liquid with some "chicken" inside, but the "chicken" is just some sort of rubbery white/beige something. Awful. 5. The Pad Thai was good, though nothing special. Just what you'd get in the Dadeland Mall Food Court. 6. The dumplings were good. 7. They automatically add 18% for who knows what as the service is lackadaisical. If you want this quality of Thai Food, do yourself a favor, go to Dadeland Mall, sit in the Food Court, you'll have AC, better tables, better ambiance and the same food. read more

Great casual lunch and dinner spot in the heart of Little Havana. There's usually a line out the door but I got lucky and my husband and I were let right in on rainy Saturday afternoon. We were seated in a covered outdoor area and were immediately attended. There is only outdoor seating (covered and uncovered) so be aware for those hot summer days. Menu is on the QR code. Make sure to plan everything you want to eat as they only take your order once. We ordered the Tom Kha Gai which was so creamy yet light. We also ordered the Crispy pork belly which paired wonderfully with our cold Singha beer. My husband ordered the chicken Pad Thai and I ordered the Curry Noodle soup. The curry noodle soup is a star dish. Creamy, light curry flavor with chunky chicken pieces. Pad Thai was great. Ultimately, I got the Khao Man Gai which is boiled chicken served with a potent sweet ginger sauce, cucumber, steamed white rice. Lung Yai's version also comes with a nice broth soup in the side as well. I will definitely be back, especially for take out which I hear is very popular as well! read more

10/28/2023: just as good as first time or better, this little joint is now a Calle Ocho not so hidden gem but a gem nevertheless. This time tried the mouthwatering pork dumplings, crispy duck salad and my usual...Pad Thai but pork instead of shrimp this time. The crispy duck is a must try and one of the most popular dishes and I now know why. Pad Thai was better than ever with tender tasty and flavorful pork meat. Not knowing the size of portions, we ordered an appetizer (steamed dumplings) and two entrees (pad Thai and chicken green curry). Everything was amazing, and tasted as in best Thai places I have been to, the size of the portions was fairly big (next time we skip the app) and the prices are still reasonable. I had a terrible experience with customer service, and I don't care how good the food is. Considering it earned a Michelin star in 2023, I believe Michelin requires good customer service as well. They only allow you to place one order only, even during non-peak hours. We wanted to order five items but weren't sure if that would be enough for five people so I told her maybe that it for now and we order more after. Unfortunately, the staff member was very rude and spoke to us in a mocking tone. Even they have table for 4 inside, they wont allow us to go in.
