The food is excellent, but it's very expensive for what it offered. This is not a place to go on your own, but could be worthwhile if you plan to share a pizza. They are large enough for 2, and in that way, the price is reasonable. I went with friends and everyone ordered their own pizza. I wish there was a cheaper single option. The sides (like the meatballs) are good, but also pricey for what you get ($18 I think for 3 meatballs and a giant piece of bread). I just don't really get the hype, sorry.

We went back and tried the Milk & Honey pizza and the Mushroom Pizza that they are known for. While still very good, they were less impressive than the Margherita pizza. After a couple of visits to both Wheated and Lupo, I cannot definitively say Lupo is the best in the city, but it's very close...

My husband and I had a date night here. The meatballs and pizza were phenomenal. The crust was delicious and soft. The sauce was so fresh. We will definitely be back.

My siblings & I came here for an early birthday dinner. We were honestly all impressed. The pizza was delicious. It had the perfect crisp & char. Very fresh ingredients. Tonight we got the sting like a bee pizza but we will without a doubt be back to try other ones. My sister & I loved the braised cabbage. The chili oil crunch was chef's kiss. So glad we got that. (If you like cabbage) it was subtle yet still so flavorful. Their ranch was also really good! And their garlic was different than we're used to but it had a fresh garlic flavor & the perfect buttery texture. So good. The atmosphere was cozy & service was great. :) 10/10 recommend

It takes a lot to get five stars out of me, but this spot has it all - nooks cozy for dining as a couple as well as families and groups, bartender who knows her stuff (food AND bevvies, even some music recommendations, too), but of course the food. I sampled and was delighted on all counts. This Caesar salad is special, with a mix of arugula and frisée dressed in a very lightly salted anchovy dressing topped with a soft-boiled egg - traditional and artful! The Milk & Honey pizza was my pick (thank you Nina) with a signature sourdough wood-fired crust that's chewy, toasty, crisp, and crunchy in all the right places with rich cream and house-made mozzarella contrasted with hot honey and fresh basil. Consider me comforted and coming back again soon!

This place is so good!! I ordered their version of a pepperoni pizza that comes with a hot honey drizzle. It's delicious!! I ordered online on a Thuraday for pick up. The online order portal said an hour for it to be ready but I was craving it for dinner so I went ahead and placed the order. I got a call about 10 minutes later saying the kitchen was ahead of schedule and asked if I wanted to keep the original pick up time or if I wanted them to push my order up. I had them push it up sooner! I got there and the parking was packed. I was lucky to snag an open spot. And my pizza was ready right when I got there!

Ordered the Sting Like a Bee Pizza (with olives added) tonight for pickup so we could enjoy it at the park. The pizza was superb! There were plenty of pepperonis and the perfect amount of honey. The crust has the perfect chew and such a great fresh flavor. One pizza shared filled both of us up and we have 2 pieces left to look forward to tomorrow. This is one of my favorite pizza places in Louisville. Pickup was fast and easy but I would advise if you're a nervous parker or have a larger vehicle maybe to go straight to the additional parking spaces.

Lupo is my favorite neopolitan style pizza place in the city. The pizza "wolf" exudes cool attitude from its unique Butchertown "wrong side of the flood wall" location to its cozy interior that makes it feel like the best shirt of old neighborhood haunt to grab a pie with friends, or as often in my case to sit at the small bar where everyone maybe knows your name and if not strangers sometimes quickly become friends. Should you get invited to a pizza party at Lupo you should always say yes and ask questions never. It will be a great time.

Great spot for a date or a quiet, classy moment after work. I've had the pizza, and it was delicious, but do you know what I love to order most at Pizza Lupo?? The pasta!! Their pasta is home-made and so delicious. I had the Pesto Canestri. This dish consists of: semolina pasta shells, garlic pesto, whipped ricotta, a fava beans. It reminded me of my mom's pasta fagioli but with pesto. As I was sipping it with a gin cocktail (gin, grapefruit, lemon, and white creme de cacao), I noticed the pasta had citrus notes as well (this drink and dish pairing was amazing! My cocktail made the pasta sing, I swear...). Only to notice lemon or orange zest whipped into the ricotta. So delicious. Beautiful atmosphere. Cool servers. Would LOVE a happy hour or specialty cocktail hour even just once a week so I can afford to be there ... always and forever :D

Pizza Lupo... rave reviews all over the place! But for me? The pizza didn't do a whole lot for me and I (and the rest of our party) left a bit disappointed based on what I've heard. Maybe it's a style thing, much like a controversial pizza blogger that claims Neapolitan starts at a 6.8? My favorite thing we ordered was the meatball appetizer.. the pita bread it came with paired so nicely with the meatballs and sauce. If my rating was food based only, likely a 3/5 for me BUT our server was fantastic. Very attentive, friendly and everything we ordered was out quickly. Her service and the timely work of the kitchen staff bumped it to a 4 for me, plus it being locally owned is a major plus! Will I be back? I'm not sure. I wouldn't turn it down if someone wanted to go, but not the top 5 of pizza joints in the city that I'd recommend first.

Pizza Lupo is a shining star in Louisville. I ate here once before and honestly wasn't blown away, but I'm glad I saved my review and gave this place another shot. Don't let the line forming outside before opening scare you away, there's plenty of indoor, outdoor, and community seating that you likely don't need a reservation. Parking at the overflow lot across the street is easy and accessible. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pizzas on menu, but the Sfincione with added Detroit pepperoni has been my favorite so far. One pizza will feed 2 easily with a high likelihood of taking home leftovers. The only thing I haven't been crazy about is the Caesar salad, I found it to be pretty bland and overpriced for what it was. I look forward to going back and trying all the different pies they offer.

This was my second time at Lupo and somehow it was even better than the first! The service was great as always and the atmosphere was perfect. My sister and I split a bottle of red wine that was reasonably priced and very good. We started off with the meatballs which are now a must get if I ever come again. They are delicious and pair so well with the puffy flat bread! For our mains, we got the ricotta gnudi and the zucchini mafaldine. Both were creamy and delicious but my favorite was the mafaldine. If you come to Lupo you can't miss out on their pasta!

We all drank water, soda or tea and they kept our glasses filled. We ordered the pork chop dinner that came with risotto and vegetables. My husband loved the veggies and risotto but was not thrilled with the chop. He wishes he would have asked for a steak knife as it was difficult to cut with the butter knife provided. It was tender enough but neither of us cared for the flavor. I had the Primavera. It was a bit bland. I had to salt it several times. Our favorite part of the meal was dessert. We had a piece of lemoncello cake that was flavorful, creamy and light. We both thought it was great. We had about $20 left on our gift card and were disappointed we couldn't use the balance as the tip. So we ordered two more desserts to bring home to use the balance of the gift card. We brought homemade a piece of Italian cream cake that was as good or better than the lemoncello cake and it was a huge piece of cake. We also have a piece of caramel sea salt cheesecake which was pretty good. It was loud in the small space and a bit difficult to have a conversation across the table. The background music did not help with this issue. The staff were friendly and helpful boxing up our leftovers. Tables have white cloth tablecloths and the owner was making rounds to greet all the patrons which was nice. We discovered there is parking in the back of the restaurant, as so many of the spaces in the area have signs indicating you will be towed if you park there. We had to park on the street about a block down.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.
