I've been curious about pizza lupo for some time. Today me and my friend decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed ! We sat at the communal table, if you want a booth, I highly recommend making a reservation prior. The pizza foire is only served M-Th. That is what we got. It's a cheese lovers dream! The crust is stuffed with ricotta, there is also a ball of soft burrata cheese in the middle. We added pepperoni for topping. The wood fire sourdough is very soft with the perfect amount of chew. Me and my roommate both went on about how tasty the sauce was. I could've went for an extra cup of pizza sauce just to dip my ricotta crust. The atmosphere is relaxed but sophisticated. Lots of alcohol choices at the bar. Next time I am going to give the pasta a try! I would absolutely recommend this place for a date night or just pizza! read more

I ordered the pepperoni and hot honey pizza for delivery on a Sunday evening. Pizza came hot and fresh. However, I wasn't a huge fan. Pizza is one of those subjective things and there are so many different types! This pizza was a wood fired pizza with plain pizza crust. Didn't have much flavor (the crust). All ordering is done at a window then food is brought to your table; you can keep a tab open or you can pay again if you need to go back for more of their fab margaritas. A friend and I shared a Salsiccia pizza, an order of olives, a house salad, and two aperol margaritas. Our bill totaled $63 plus tip, putting us at $75... pretty steep for a pizza place, but I get that it's meant to be hipster. All pizzas are one size, equivalent to a large, and they're thin, brick oven fired crusts. Pizza was absolutely a 10/10!! The two of us finished it without planning to. House salad was fresh, but consisted of all large leafy greens which were somewhat messy to fork and to eat. The green goddess dressing that accompanied it was a nice touch, really enjoyed it, but overall we could've passed on the salad. The olives were a large portion for $6, and the seasoning was sooo good. They were salty and spicy, loved their marinade. The only major downfall was that they weren't pitted, so they were difficult to eat. A small dish was given for pits, so the pits were obviously a intentional part of the presentation for them. The margaritas were excellent -- the Tajin rim was an enjoyable touch. We both went back for another one! When thinking about what I wanted to write for this review update, I kept thinking "Lupo is something special." And come to find out, that's how I started my review for Lupo three years ago. What is true then remains true now. Lupo has its own in-house delivery service, which we used tonight to get Sting Like A Bee and Margherita pizzas. Both of these were absolutely delicious. It's not everyday that you can find truly artisan pizza via delivery, but Lupo has accomplished this. The crusts on both of these were thin and perfectly chewy. Love the spicy honey on the Sting Like A Bee pizza and the pepperoni. And the Margherita, while classic it is not boring. It's great to have the option between fresh or shredded mozzarella -- and definitely opt for fresh. These pizzas are quality and you'll pay for that ... but again you get what you pay for. These are also larger than I envisioned as a 16-inch pizza. On top of all of this, the pizza was delivered faster than expected. And with that, I'm going downstairs to grab another slice before my family eats it all up. read more

Lupo is a cool unusually small restaurant in Frankfort avenue. Tasty food for sure but rating comes mainly from the menu being rather small and less than mainstream. Which is a good thing, but I had a hard time selecting a menu item. I split a "Sting like a Bee" pie with a friend and our other two friends split the funghi pie. Both very tasty. The sting pie has a spicy honey drizzle that is very unique and tasty. The funghi pie had some ricotta base and some other cheeses. They said it was good as well. My favorite part is probably the crispy pie edges. You can order some whipped butter or other dip for the crusts if you like. My friend and I split a Caesar as well. Comes with a monstrous white anchovy. Ask for it on the side just in case. Greens were more leafy than romaine. A little different but not bad. No sodas if you're a soda person. But plenty of wine beer and cocktails to choose from. read more

My traveling book club had the good fortune to dine at Lupo this month. Here are my thoughts: Process: be seated, scan QR code to order, food arrives. In theory this sounds like an excellent way to compensate for the service industry being short staffed, but I do miss interacting with a server, being able to ask questions, hear about their favorites, and customize my order. Food: quite delicious. I ordered the falafel sandwich because vegan, and my dining companions split a variety of pizzas. The falafel sandwich was AMAZING - super flavorful with perfectly cooked falafel, and the garlic sauce nearly literally knocked my socks off. For the pizzas, the Milk & Honey was the clear winner. Despite the limitations with the ordering process, Lupo is doing many things right and I look forward to trying the vegan pizza next time. read more

Ambiance: Came here for dinner on a weekday and it wasn't too packed, the place is not that big however and they only have one or two tables capable of seating 6+ parties so make a reservation if you have a large group. The place has a eclectic decor with movie posters, plates, and even a kids hand-drawing that's a little disturbing if you find it... Service is very friendly however and they're more than happy to help with wine pairing if you have questions. Food only took 15-20 mins to get to table and waters were kept filled despite them only having 1.5 people waiting tables. Food: We got the Sting Like A Bee and Funghi with their house-made sausage added on. The Sting Like A Bee is a solid pizza with staggered notes of sweet honey, tangy sauce, savory, and spicy pepperoni hitting your tongue at different times. It's a fun pizza that leaves you excited to take another bite so you can keep processing the flavors. The funghi pizza I had lower expectations for but was pleasantly surprised to find that the local mushrooms they use were absolutely delicious. I have never had such flavorful mushrooms in my life filled with such savory umami goodness it rendered the sausage we added completely unnecessary. The blend of taleggio, mozzarella, ricotta, and parmesan also added a nice saltiness and texture to the whole experience. I also need to give credit to Lupo's pillowy soft crust which had a slight amount of chew and held up to the toppings well without getting too soggy. The small flecks of char add a nice smokiness and let you appreciate the wood fired oven. Overall we had a great meal, you can't really go wrong with a place that uses quality local ingredients and has friendly service. I would recommend giving this place a try at least once. read more

Ambiance: Fun but loud atmosphere Service: Good but could of done better. My online order was made late as I waited in the small waiting area for 15-20 minutes after it was to be ready. They apologized for the delay since their oven was not working at the optimal level and gave me 10% off. I was really disappointed in the tiny portion of the expensive lobster pasta and one of the pizza was so extremely overcooked underneath that I could only taste the burnt aftertaste. The Fiore pizza was SO salty, I just couldn't even eat it. I had high expectation for this place but was really let down. This is one of my favorite pizza places down in Louisville, Kentucky. I totally regret not getting a second pizza before going back to Columbus but that just means I have a reason to visit Louisville again! I love me a good Neapolitan brick oven style pizza. This baddie was piping hot to the touch and delicious Sting like a bee: Detroit style pepperoni cups, milled organic san marzano tomatoes, house hot honey, choice of fresh or aged mozzarella, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, parmigiano reggiano. We had such high hopes on our pizza tour of Louisville. I am sad to report that Lupo did not measure up. So - what were the issues? 1. Lots of crust and not enough "pizza". 2. The signature of well done crust is quite honestly burned. Even when we asked them to undercook it. 3. The sausage on our pizza was so crumbled that we barely tasted it. 4. Parmesan cheese is $2 extra (what?? That's like McDonalds charging you extra for ketchup on your fries.). 5. Fungi pizza had an odd/strong flavor. 6. It is EXPENSIVE. $77 (before tip) for two basic pizzas, one beer, and a gelato. No,no,no!! It is a quaint building with beautiful exposed bricks. The outdoor seating is very nice. Sorry, Lupo. Came here for a late birthday celebration dinner date since I was craving deliciousness. Seat yourself dining experience with even a order yourself online option. We tried that since it was easy to use and updated on what is currently unavailable. We placed everything online from our drinks to our meals. I got the Aperol spritz and BF got the cynar old fashioned, I needed spaghetti & meatballs and we split a string like a bee pie. Love this place the location is easy to find that staff is friendly and the ambiance is chill. Our drinks came out and they were good but the stars of the show was most definitely my spaghetti and the pizza. The spaghetti noodles were al dente the sauce was flavorful and the meatballs were delicious. The sting like a bee pie was spectacular! Small local place that gets things right Lupo is always a great sport for hand made seasonal pasta and of course the wood fired pizza with extraordinary topping combinations to crave for as well as the wood fired oysters which are a staple and must have. Tonight we had the Spaghetti and Meatballs with 30 day dry aged beef from bear creek farms from our local favorite butcher Red Hog and in house hand made pasta, truly makes all the difference. Location is off the beaten path at the end of Frankfort Ave. not ideal. And, I think there should be a few things present at an A-level pizza joint (as Lupo is rated on this app), namely some banging chicken wings. And Lupo has the worst wings. Sting like a bee with sausage on top - YUM! We devoured. The cauliflower and oyster starters were also really flavorful, and I don't even really like oysters. The ambiance is so cozy and chic. Y'all know everyone is short staffed, and this server was working half the room. We had to go up and get her a few times, but y'all need to be patient! They are doing the best they can. She was always so nice and tried to be as accommodating as possible. Food is a little pricey but you're paying for good food. There's a reason people come back for more! Lupo is my brother's fiance's favorite restaurant. It's a cozy building on the north end of Frankfurt Ave. Parking was easy for me, but on a busy night, parking will be difficult. I really wanted to love Lupo. Generally, faux fancy is not my style. Lupo fits the faux fancy bill. Prices are high and neither service nor quality sports it. Don't misinterpret that to say the service is bad. The service meets expectations for a discount brand. The food is good, not great. Limited selection, limited customization caused discomfort when ordering. Limited bar service isn't ideal either. Unfortunately, Lupo is not my style. I have no interest in returning. It may tantalize your taste buds and I do recommend that you try it. read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday night and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The inside set up really makes you feel right at home. Our service was fantastic giving it an upscale feel with a casual and comfortable ambiance. I could tell that our pizza was going to be good because our booth was located right by the kitchen and you could tell they were working diligently on each unique order. We split the Pizza Fiore (ricotta stuffed crust was incredible) which is topped with arugula and burrata (we also added spicy honey and house made ranch which was a great addition).
