The food was good. Came here for Friday lunch the first day of restaurant week but the kitchen wasn't prepared. We spent a long time (~40 min) waiting for our main course (a salad, and the Miso salmon) to arrive. We overhead a table next to us where it took 25 min to get this guy a sandwich. Maybe the kitchen will be ready a few more days into RW... but probably don't come here if you're in a rush or on lunch break (unless you want to take a long lunch lol). The crispy sushi rice was something I've never tasted before and it was a cool execution- fried rice covered in crunchy bits and topped with sashimi of your choice. The shrimp tempura was a light batter and had good flavor- actually decent portion size. Loved the Miso salmon- medium cooked to perfection and the vegetables were really fresh and went really well. Our server was good- mostly communicative and attentive although he disappeared for just a little bit. We tried to flag down the manager and the GM seemed purposely evasive- it was not a good day for him. My husband was trying to get back to his work and was irritated... but the GM also didn't respond well (I just let it play out)... he half-promised us a dessert (never came) and ran away. I understand he must've been swamped but after my husband stated that the restaurant was empty, he kind of snapped back that 12 people just left (but really though, the restaurant seating was probably at 15%...i don't know the staffing level). They comped a few items and brought a few glasses of prosecco on the house. I know with covid and with restaurant week there's a lot of pressure so I'm rating with that in mind.... Was the food good? Yes. Would I come back based on this experience? Probably not. read more

We visited during happy hour and sat in the lounge. Note reservations are supposedly only for dinner and don't apply to happy hour which lasts until 6:30pm on weekdays. We were greeted (a bit rudely) when we said we arrived for happy hour and sent to the lounge area). Ordered cocktails which were yummy, half a dozen oysters (a mix of east coast and west coast oysters), and calamari. The calamari was a bit odd as it was more battered than typical calamari and had more of a fish fry batter than crunchy calamari. Overall, the food was good but service was extremely slow when the restaurant was fairly empty when we went and it took a long time to flag down the server for our check. read more

Lure Fishbar has been a very special restaurant for me and my boyfriend ever since we first visited the New York location back in 2016. The ambiance and decor of this restaurant is nautical, classy and unique. The head chef, Chef Lee, does an excellent job with the sushi, seafood and each of the dishes on the menu. While the food is always outstanding, the service is even better. We've had the pleasure (and luck) of having Richard as our server a few different times over the past couple of years. He is kind, incredibly personable, funny and attentive. He has definitely made our experiences that much better and we are so thankful for his service. This restaurant is an absolute 10/10. They have the best lychee martini in the city, (seasonal), and their specials are always on point. We cannot recommend Lure Fishbar enough! read more

Friday night date night and thankfully this place did not disappoint. We will start with the service which for me is extremely important. The host checked our reservation and graciously sat us in a corner table overlooking the bar. Best seat in the house. Our server greeted us and took our drinks order. A double espresso martini for the mrs and pellegrino for me. At first the martini was a little too potent on the coffee, however this was immediately corrected and comped on the ticket. Appetizer my wife had blue point oysters which were delicious. I had crispy rice topped with yellowtail jalapeno. This was for sure scrumptious. Definitely get the five piece though. We shared the steamed snapper - since we wanted a light dinner this was absolutely perfect - however we did want dessert which called for a cheesecake. 5 stars. I've been here a few times for happy hour, which means this review was overdue. I'll start by saying that this place has yet to disappoint! If you love some good east coast oysters, fresh sushi, and a delicious dessert that isn't overly sweet, then these are some starter options. The Lure special roll is absolutely delicious, along with the salmon roll, which is probably my fav. The service has been pretty consistent, ambiance is great (good for a date, going solo, or a group of friends), and the spot is nice. The Lure Fishbar on Rush St. on the Gold Coast of Chicago is this very pretty and very humongous restaurant serving some excellent food. We elected to go there and enjoy their Chicago Restaurant Week menu, but after reading their regular menu, we changed course. Don't get me wrong, their restaurant week menu looked great, but their "straight" menu looked and had everything one might want from a seafood restaurant. First and foremost, the very nice people staffing this very nice restaurant were just that - very nice. My wife had a lovely wedge salad with chicken and a side of these incredible onion rings. Our friend had their Branzino that he devoured. I opted for a Lobster Roll with fries that was very good; but after spending a month in Maine this past summer, it would be hard for any restaurant outside of that state to compare. The ambiance was great and the noise level was conversation friendly. I live on The Gold Coast and I am delighted to have so many great and diverse restaurants to chose from. Felt rather rushed by the waiter and ended up noticing that he charged us the full price ($21 each) for the happy hour sushi rolls instead of the $10 each that it states on the happy hour menu. Super not cool to do, especially since he rang up the drinks at the happy hour pricing but not the food. Definitely doublecheck your bill before paying here, won't be returning. We stumbled upon this fabulous restaurant while on a walk. We didn't have a reservation but the host found a table and sat us immediately. The place is huge with different seating options. Two sets of bars, casual seating and then the main dining area. There are also two back rooms that looked like spaces for private events or a spill over from main. Both sections were closed. The music and lighting were just right. The menu offered options other than sushi but we wanted fancy rolls, not main entrees. The three rolls were just right, the wine was delicious and dessert was a perfect brownie ending. I would return for the fresh fish and some oysters! My wife and I went here on the 2nd evening of our 13th wedding anniversary. The whole experience was EX-CEL-LENT!.. We actually have NOT been in this space since it was Houston's back in the day. Back then Houston's was our go-to steak restaurant. Of course, the space is totally different now. The space is nice and cozy. Even the bathrooms were clean and nice. Our server Richard was great! He remembered the previous restaurant that was in the space before this one. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks as well, which helped as it was our first time. We had the Shishito Pepper as a starter. They were good, charred and smokey. For dinner we had the RL Special (which was a sushi roll with Spanish influences) THAT JOKER WAS CRAZY GOOD!... O.M.L. From the first bite, it just took you to Japan via Spain and Mexico, just EXCELLENT. We killed them. We also had the SW Pot. Ravioli and Roasted Chicken. The ravioli was perfectly cooked with the filling being nice and round taste. You can taste the smoothness of the mushroom and ricotta with a hint of sage. The marsala cream and sauce brought everything together excellently. The chicken was well cooked, with all meat still juicy and flavorful. Again, the risotto was perfectly silky, nice bites of mushrooms and smooth butternut squash along with the chicken jus was PERFECT. I ended up taking some of the chicken home as I couldn't finish everything, though I REALLY wanted to. My wife wanted dessert, so I agreed. We had the Warm Brownie and Cheesecake. BOTH were OFF-THE-CHAIN!. Nice warm, silky and smooth, a perfect ended to the meal. For drinks we had the Gossip Girl and the Refresher. Both were quite tasty, not too sweet and nice flavors. I love the Lure in Miami so it's no surprise I loved the Lure in Chicago too! On my recent visit I stopped into Lure twice - once for happy hour and once for late night. Both were great. They make a mean martini, and the sushi is absolutely delish. Wines are $10 on happy hour and the pours are generous. I tried the oysters with caviar and creme, which to be honest could do without the creme as it takes away from the oyster IMO. The crispy rice, yellowtail jalapeno roll and lobster tempura roll were all fantastic. Shout out to the bartenders who were so attentive and wonderful during both my visits. The menu included their options for restaurant week but we decided on a salmon appetizer, mushroom ravioli, and steamed red snapper in red curry. The food was excellent. My only negative was that the spiced carrot cake (restaurant week option) was a tad dry but the flavor was there and I ate it so quickly that it's the only item I didn't manage to photograph (LOL). We visited Lure Fish bar while staying near River North to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is in a great location on the corner nestled between hotels and shopping not too far from a more heavily trafficked intersection. We walked past the window several times, and although it looked nice, it always was sparsely populated. We wanted delicious seafood, and decided to give this place a chance so we made a reservation for a Thursday evening. It was a great decision for a date night. The place is well decorated, lit, and has a beautiful ambience. There are a lot of windows, so there lots of opportunities for window seating to people watch or enjoy the snow falling on the city outside. They have a wrap around bar and a sushi bar with chef seating. The customer service was excellent, all of the wait staff that assisted with our table were pleasant and attentive to our needs. We ordered seafood, tuna tacos for an appetizer, the salmon, fried rice with broccolini, French fries, wine and cocktails and a bread pudding dessert. Everything was delicious. I don't know why this place doesn't have a line out the door. We enjoyed it so much and hope that you do too. We will be back soon. read more

A very nice seafood spot. It was warm and welcoming and not very busy on a cold Tuesday evening. I was given an option on where to sit which was really nice as I decided on the half round velvet booth seats. Our server was having a bit off and maybe he was over tired. He talked to me like he knew me like I had dined there before when in fact it was my first time. Then after that I had changed my mind on a different wine and he brought the original that he recommended, but that was fine. He was very helpful with recommendations and we went with the snapper and halibut and started off with the solo shellfish platter. Lure makes a pretty strong case for being the best one by virtue of the dressed oysters, crispy asian snapper, and sea urchin bucatini dishes. The reason my friend group(s) have taken a liking to it is that management has been very accommodating and it's easy to get reservations here. It's also more quiet and intimate with better table spacing than most other places. Business trip and wandering the beautiful Chicago streets and ran across Lure Fishbar. The bar was quiet when I arrived (the restaurant filled up as I ate!) and perfect for me. Bartender helped me choose my drink, directing me to the sage and lavender infused Bees Knees special (that supports protecting our endangered bees!). It was oh so delish! And he then moved me away from the lobster roll to the Dragon Roll, which was a little less expensive, and, since he didn't steer me wrong with the drink, I trusted him. Rightfully. The dragon roll was also scrumptious and not too spicy. (That's what the wasabi is for!) Overall, a welcome find when eating alone on a biz trip. I went back for my second time at Lure, and this time was even better than the first! Love the vibe of this place... it's nice and classy without being white table cloth and stuffy. The ambiance and music was great. The STAR items that we ordered were the crispy spicy tuna (maybe the best crispy rice I've ever had) and the crispy red snapper for two. I only came here only because the place I was originally going had a long wait. I am so glad I came here instead. Everyone was so welcoming when we walked in. We were able to be seated right away as well. The ambience was exactly where you would go for a quiet evening dinner. Low dim lights which gave very calming and romantic vibe. He recommended some wines and foods to try. He at one point stopped us from ordering more food saying he thought we ordered enough, and we had to tell him we were really hungry! Everything we had were all really good. My friend and I split New England clam chowder, and both of us had so many whole clams in them. We ate some sushi pieces, but we ate them before I was able to take pictures. But I can assure you they were all pretty fresh. The Lobster roll was also very delicious and a good portion.
