I've been here twice now for their frozen dumplings. I've had both the pork and celery and Shepherd's purse pork dumpling. Both are pretty tasty when you're in a pinch. Everything is hand made including the dumpling skin. The skin is on the thicker side so it's good for pan frying without worry that it will fall apart. The prices are very reasonable, about $24 for 50 dumplings. They give you a cooler bag to keep your dumplings frozen if you are driving some distance. It's located in a food court so there are many other choices as well. They do not take credit cards, only cash or Zelle. If you go later in the day, some of the more popular flavors will be sold out! read more

Ly Family Kitchen is the last several food stands located in a so called "food court" hidden inside a suite at the Colima Plaza. Ly Family Kitchen is inside an unmarked door, and once you open it, the stall will be the second one on your left. Once you located this family owned shop, you'll be in for nice surprise! There's no seating but there are seats available from deserted restaurant/cafe. My first surprise is the selection of both "grab and go" and frozen products for purchase. The onion bread is a great snack. We purchased it and literally woofed it down while deciding what else to eat! I've opted to buy the "traditional" bean soup (redbean as base) and the mantou (homemade steam buns). The red bean soup is sooo good! The serving size is very generous (for $3) and the ingredients are amazingly. Often, red bean desserts from other shops tend to be more watery and have fewer beans. The dessert soup here barley, red beans, dates and mung beans. The buns are super big and dense! After eating one, I'm bored and tired from chewing! Hahaha. If I had known, I would have opted to buy the taro buns instead! As I was leaving, I noticed that I've overlooked chive dumplings and meat pies were also available. I love Ly's. I've been going there for a few years now for dumplings, whole wheat mantou, brown sugar bun and vegetable buns. Unfortunately they were out of the red bean bun and health steamed buns. I brought my mumone day, she tried a few of their pork steamed buns, pork, pickled vegetable and pork dumplings, leek and pork dumplings, 5 flavor dumplings and pork xian. She doesn't like the 5 fllavor one much. My husband really likes the chicken xian (small stuffed pancake) and all of us enjoyed their veggie pockets Service has always been great, and I like the location for a quick bite. I was cravings for a small and quick snack while driving on my way home. I decided to yelp the word "bun" and this place came up. Ly family kitchen is located in a plaza with a small food court. I came for one item but left with three. I got the scallion pie, leek pie, and a beef pie. All three were really good. The beef pie was super great with a great bread texture. I really enjoy the scallion pie a lot too. The leek pie was cold and a bit soggy but I was able to throw it in the air fryer to make it come back to life. They also sell buns, meatballs, porridge, and dumplings. They also sell a ton of different frozen dumplings by the bag. The service was good. The only thing is that they don't really speak English but I just pointed to things. Overall, a great place to try if you're in the area. read more

Love this little spot that's located in the Pacific Plaza strip mall! I've tried several menu items and they are all really delicious. My favs are the meat pies (pork, beef, chicken), steamed buns (multiple varieties available), and frozen dumplings. Keep in mind that depending on what time you go, there might be some items that have run out. I usually buy a bunch of pies and buns since they reheat nicely the following couple of days. Make sure to bring cash since I don't think credit cards are accepted. Prices are reasonable, averaging about $3 per pie or bun. Don't mind the folks who are giving bad reviews because of the "lack of customer service" from the employees. This is one of those establishments where you'll get consistently good food. Whether or not you're also getting a smile from the employee shouldn't discourage you from checking out the menu. It helps if you can speak Mandarin but a couple of the staff speak some English. read more

A family run eatery specialized in Northern style Chinese food inside a small food court of a strip mall. A bit difficult to find but probably worth it. It offers various frozen dumplings, buns, wonton, pies and etc. that you can buy and serve at home. They also have ready to eat items that you can purchase and eat right there. These include dumplings, buns, wonton, pies, soup, porridge and other snacks. We visited there on a Thursday afternoon and the place looked empty as it's past lunch hour. The food court looked a bit run down. We bought a pack (50 pieces) of Shepherd's Purse Pork dumpling. They were still frozen when we got home (45 min away). The dumplings were meaty, of reasonable size and moderately priced. The taste is just average but it makes a nice lunch item any day. Might visit again when in the neighborhood. There was a variety of savory and sweet buns priced $2-3 per bun, and flavor availability varies depending what they're making that day and what's left on the rack. We tried the following: Qingdao Pork Bun + Mushroom with Braised Pork Bun: both buns were a bit too heavy in flavor; they tasted like a dense meatball wrapped in bun skin. Cabbage Pork Bun - better of the three meats buns we tried; this had a nice balance of meat/cabbage, flavor and texture. Assorted steam buns without fillings (quinoa, pumpkin, sesame, brown sugar, cranberry): the steam buns were hearty and will fill you up; it was neat to see the various colors integrated from the ingredients. Flavor wise, I liked the brown sugar and cranberry better. Pork Pie and Beef Pie: both fillings were flavorful and juicy; however, it would have been better if the pies were kept warm instead of lying on the open tray. It was neat to try various buns, but the tab adds up quickly as the menu was quite extensive. Not the best bun shop I've been to, but worth to try out to see if you like it. read more

Sometimes I forget about this place because it is hidden in the food court in the corner of the plaza, but this place has one of the best steamed buns / baozi! Yesterday I came back to get some of them and the meat pies / green onion pie (xian bing) as well. We got one of each - beef, pork, chicken. On average the items are about $2-3 per piece. I love the steamed buns because the bread/skin part is very bouncy and tastes like homemade ones. Also I love the one with taro filling because it's not too sweet! So many other places make taro buns and they are very sweet for me. This one is just right! read more

My bestie and I stumbled into this "food court" and saw the activity at Ly and HAD to get in on the excitement. My eyes were overwhelmed at the rows and rows of amazing looking dumplings and treats for Lunar New Year. The order/check out was such a fervor from customers NEEDING these dumplings for family celebrations. How could we resist??? If I may, to give some level of comparison, Ly is the Porto's of dumplings. These are made fresh before your eyes and RACKS of the dumplings are wheeled about to fulfill MANY orders. Prices were good, so we ordered traditional (pork,shrimp, leek) and my FAVE (lamb) dumplings to share. There was some confusion, or perhaps the pork were only available fresh, but the lovely lady filling orders asked us to come back for our dumplings. About 15 minutes later she motioned to us and handed the order of 50 frozen lamb dumplings then disappeared for a moment to return with a HUGE tray of 50 fresh traditional dumplings. Our eyes went wide and she giggled. She then told us, 'go now get these home'. We took her advice and upon returning home, I gave each an additional dab of tapioca powder before lacing them in a freezer container. 6 of them did become a bit room temperature and sticky, so they immediately went into my boiling broth for dinner - DELICIOUS! Prefect ratio of wrapper to filling and lots of yummy pork/shrimp flavor. Some places will have more leek in the dumplings for obvious cost reasons, but these were PERFECT! They offer delivery from group chat order. The owner/driver is very dishonest. I made Zelle payment twice to her for my order. When found out later in the day I shared my screenshots. We always buy the freshly made steamed bao, bun, or pie, and loved them. Recently, I was told their frozen dumplings are good. I've tried the Leek Fish, Pickled Cabbage Pork, and Organic Cabbage Pork. All very authentic and the inside are filled full. They will have all my future business for dumplings. I made an order of $156, and drove up to Rowland Heights to take the order by myself. After I got there, I found I ordered too much. So I asked them if I can cut down part of the order, $10 less. The store employee then gave me very bad attitude. They can simply told me it is not allowed to change order. I am ok to pay more money. But I am really pissed off by her attitude. It turned out that this employee is the store owner's daughter. I drove 40 mins to there to pick up the order. And they treated me like this just because 6% of the money?
