Came here because I heard the owners are retiring, and I didn't want to miss out on their amazing food--but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When we asked our server if anyone had bought the restaurant or when their last day would be, he responded, "I don't know; we found out through Facebook," which caught us off guard. While I understand the frustration of the staff in that situation, it translated into poor service. Our server wasn't outright rude, but he definitely wasn't friendly either. He seemed frustrated and like he didn't want to be there, which made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. The food was as incredible as always, but the combination of delicious dishes and visibly unhappy staff created such an odd and off-putting experience that it overshadowed the meal. Lynn's Bistro is a French-inspired restaurant in central Kirkland. We recently went there for a special occasion dinner, because of its proximity to our other activities. The space is attractive, well-decorated and moderately spacious. The location does not have parking, and in general parking in Kirkland is a bit of a pain but we did find a paid space a couple of blocks away without too much trouble. Service was friendly but not attentive. It took quite a long time for dishes to arrive, and we didn't hear much from our server after food delivery. I had intended to order another drink but there wasn't really any chance to. The menu selection is quite good. There were several dishes that appealed to us in both the appetizer and main course categories, and at least one thing each in the small dessert section. The main courses are almost all accompanied by the same thing. On the day we were there it was scalloped potatoes and sauteed mixed vegetables. While the potatoes were great the saute was just ok, and we would have preferred to have more selections of side dishes to choose from and different sides with each dish. Disappointing. Menu prices are not cheap, but not ultra-pricey either. The interpretation of pricing was very generous. We had ordered two appetizers and two main courses. Without being asked the server converted one of our meals into a Prix fixe, and our second appetizer became the dessert of that meal. This was a significant cost savings and above and beyond in terms of flexibility. Food quality was good but not amazing. I had a pate, that was very good, which came with a salad and some very hard crostini, which I replaced with the good free bread rolls. My wife had the goat cheese salad which was decent. We both had steaks for the main course (Ribeye and Filet). They both came in the same peppercorn sauce, and they were fine but not special. Overall, based on the reviews I had very high expectations of this restaurant, and instead it was just so-so. I enjoyed everything, but the lacklustre service, lack of side dishes and overall food quality wouldn't make me return soon. There are plenty of better choices around. read more

This place has great ambiance, but it probably isn't worth it in my opinion. I ordered the $70 prix fixe and upgraded my appetizer to the ravioli. Bread: the complimentary bread is actually really good when it's freshly baked. Our first round wasn't, so it was average, but our second round was freshly baked and delicious. Warm, fluffy, and had a nice crust. Ravioli: this was actually pretty good, but I don't know if it was worth the extra $10 to upgrade from the normal prix fixe. Rack of lamb: this was pretty eh, and the lamb was overcooked. I asked for med rare and it came out med well/almost well done. Completely forgettable (I don't even remember what the plate looked like). Creme brulee: great crust and smooth creme brulee. Probably one of the top 3 creme brulees I've had in the US. Great way to finish off the meal. Overall, I think this place was pretty good, but there are other local restaurants where you can probably get a better meal for a better price. It is a nice place for a semi-fancy night out though. read more

I've been itching to try Lynn's Bistro as there aren't many classic French places on the Eastside. Happily they accommodated us on short notice. The staff is super friendly and efficient and professional in their service. We had the Prix Fixe menu with Caesar salad, the rib eye and filet mignon, and chocolate mouse and creme brûlée.The prices were good for the portions. The great: the steaks were cooked to perfection. Filet was superb and tender, and the rib eye flavorful, and both had a great crust, and the meat portions were generous. The mousse and brûlée were excellent. The good: the Au gratin was rich, creamy and tasty. Bread rolls were good. Wine prices were very fair for the quality. The average: salad was just ok- it felt like something hastily assembled, not much authentic taste. The peppercorn sauce for the steaks had little resemblance to a classic French peppercorn sauce - it was more like brown Au ju with a few scattered peppercorns. The side veggies were a bit boring. In sum, Lynn's was good, but a bit of a letdown. A Paris brassiere usually manages similar fare with more flavor, and places like Cafe Juanita, while a bit pricier, deliver a more impressive taste experience. I might have enjoyed the Halibut, the duck breast, or other choices a bit better. We might return, but would encourage more work in the salads, sauces, and side veggies. read more

I'm going to start this review with a plead for more business for them. (No relation whatsoever on my part) Lynn is the fantastic Vietnamese owner and chef, trained in the art of French food. Despite her own financial struggles during the COVID shutdowns, she donated meals to the local hospitals. Though they are open, when I called to place my order yesterday, they said they don't have a single reservation and plans to close early. Heartbreak! Their food is delicious and completely worthy of your attention. When I posted about them in my neighborhood group, so many people spoke up with their personal testimonials for their food, excellent experiences, and said they will make an effort to go. If you're reading this, please do so as well, maybe for a special occasion or an end of week celebration. Onwards to the food. Their crab cakes is my favorite dish, especially with that lobster sauce, hubba hubba! - 5+ Stars Their crab cakes standalone perfectly well, excellent quantity of crab meat, seasoned and pan-seared. I like that they don't do a coating; it's all about the crab! That lobster sauce, holy moly! Try dipping the bread in it too. Carbohydrates heaven! Lamb shank dinner - 5+ Stars This is hubby's favorite dish. The meat is fork tender with scoop-able bone marrow. Hubby is a big eater; combined with the salad and some of my potatoes, he actually spread this to two dinners. That's an impressive size! This place is what I call a gem. I was recommended this restaurant (and its Italian sister Lilac Café) by a former colleague whose food opinion I respected greatly. That's why there is a little place in my heart for both restaurants. While Lilac is closed, we are fortunate to still have Lynn's Bistro. If it wasn't for him, I would miss out on a treasure. It is close to the Kirkland Transit center but it is a bit hidden away from the main sites of main Downtown Kirkland so one can miss it. In regards to Lynn's Bistro pre -and post pandemic. It is an intimate place that would great for a really romantic date. Wine and French food with white table cloths.. perfection. When indoor dining returns definitely put it on your list. As of now, they offer takeout Tuesday to Saturday. I last had them on Tuesday during Seattle Restaurant Week to show support. I had the spinach and grilled pear salad with a raspberry vinaigrette, braised lamb shank with a red wine Demi reduction and the creme brûlée. These items are still available through takeout. The meal came with bread that was good on its own but even better to sop the sauce of the lamb shank. Speaking of which, the lamb shank was great and the meat was "fall of the bone" tender which isn't the easiest to do with lamb. The salad was good and it was a first time experience having pears in my salad. I truly loved the creme brûlée due to cracking the Caramelization on top into the smooth and creamy dessert. Yes you can get this treat to go, but make sure to return the bowl it came it. From what I can tell, they don't do delivery but they do pickups I haven't had the chance to partake in the wonderful crab cakes but I have heard great things about them. That would be on my list to try too. They have very recently changed their website (like last week approximately) so the menu items should be up to date. I was also recommended this restaurant by a friend who lives in Kirkland. Our server Sam was really great and patient with our group. Everyone was really happy with their meals. I had never gone to Lynn's before Covid hit, but I've been twice now for takeout from their price fixe menu and I have to tell you they are amazing! In a time where all restaurants have had to convert their menus to takeout, most have been disappointing, obviously downsizing their portions and cutting corners, but not Lynn's! She's neatly packed up a full sized three course dinner, and the quality is top notch. My rare steak came rare, the scalloped potatoes were to die for and the chocolate mousse was so velvety. My family has been dining at Lynn's for the better part of the last ten years and not much has changed since our first visit. The restaurant is very nondescript from the street and you're likely to walk or drive right past it. Once inside, you're treated to an intimate cozy atmosphere with fabulous service, a varied wine list, and delicious food. I think Lynn's Bistro is great for just about any occasion, be it date night, birthdays, or casual get togethers. You'll usually find Lynn herself in the kitchen cranking out some classic french cuisine. The price point for french fare is unheard of. All menu items are available a la carte, but why would you do that when the three-course options are SUCH A STEAL?! Like seriously, you can get things like escargot, crab cakes, ribeye, and dessert for $38. It's basically restaurant week every night here. This place is stellar. The food is always well-prepared and steaks are always done right, which is more than I can say for some steakhouses. If Lynn's isn't already on your radar, put it on there. read more

Today was the last day of Seattle Restaurant Week, and we managed to visit Lynn's just in time to take advantage of their deal. We chose to get our order to go, and were so pleased with how well our food was packaged. When we got home, entrées were still warm and salads and desserts were cold. When it comes to good food you've come to the right place, this small little gem has the most amazing shrimp ravioli, I mean the shrimp was cooked perfectly. And the sauce it came in was delicious guys I'd eat this for the rest of my life and just love it .... it is very naughty The lamb chops were utterly perfect the seasoning on point and the portion was good, oh it also came with a potato gratin and mmmm We also tried the spinach pear salad which was pretty good and then the rib eye steak which YAAASSSS gimme gimme We also tried the creme brûlée's and the famous chocolate cake, now we had hoped the deserts would be the little cherry on top but alas they were ok, the cake felt like it was all mousse and very dense which might be how some like it. The creme brûlée's had an smell/taste from sitting in the fridge witch something that I'm guessing wasn't supposed to be in there. Having said that I'm still giving them 4 stars, this place is great, not fancy and a little outdated but for me it's all about the food and the food was fantastic read more

I had a delicieux takeout dinner from Lynn's Bistro in Kirkland for Seattle Restaurant Week 2020.  They are doing 3 courses for just $35. Between my husband and I, we had: - Spinach salad with chilled grilled pears, pickled onions, and a raspberry vinaigrette, 5/5 - Caesar salad with made-from-scratch dressing, 4/5 - Duck leg confit over white bean cassoulet, 5/5 - Dungeness crab cake with prawns in a lobster sauce, served with veggies and scalloped potatoes, 5/5 - Dinner rolls (6 complimentary ones!), 4/5 - Chocolate mousse, oh so rich and indulgent, 5/5 We split and enjoyed both salads, but got selfish when it came to our entrees because they are both so good! Cassoulet with duck confit is one of my husband's favorite things to eat, and he inhaled his dish. I savored my crab cake (basically all crab, no cake, and no complaints) with those fresh and sweet tiger prawns, and that heavenly lobster sauce was *chef's kiss* We were basically stuffed before dessert, but couldn't resist Chef Lynn's chocolate mousse. How can it be so indulgent yet so fluffy at the same time? Magical! It was easy to call in our order, pay on the phone, stop in front of the restaurant, and run inside to pickup our food. Everything was packaged and ready for pickup right on time, and they have the pandemic health guidelines all figured out. Who says you can't have amazing French food in the suburbs? Visited with friends during the restaurant week. I did enjoy it, despite few things that were a bit off. Lets start with the good: both lamb dished were amazing, French soup was really good. On the down side: Crème Brule did have a freshly burned caramel and it was good, but the crème itself was not even in structure and far from being great. Ordered a wine by the glass, it felt like the bottle was left open for sometime... There was no alcohol left (and I get drunk just by smelling wine), and the wine didn't have the fresh "sharpness". Decided not to make a deal out of it. But when I received my steak in a peppercorn sauce, and the amount of pepper was unbearable (both in my dish and in a friend's dish), we both had to return it. After three bites of the meat (and the meat itself was really really good) I lost any sensation in my mouth. The dish was kindly replaced, though we were advised not to order meat in a peppercorn sauce, if we are so sensitive to pepper.... At the end of the meal the manager came to inform us that we were right, the chef tasted the sauce and it was much too peppery. Overall, it was a good experience, not amazing, but good. I normally avoid everything in the Eastside. I just find a plethora of corporate restaurants and general lack of creativity! I was pleasantly surprised by this place! A smaller restaurant on the main drag in Kirkland. Well appointed and cozy. The service was friendly and timely. Food was really well done! Great cheese plate, great smoked salmon dish for apps. For the mains had Filet, Duck, and Rabbit and all were really nicely prepared and delicious. My one complaint is that if you do the three course tasting menu, there is no ability to substitute out the dessert. We just really don't enjoy desserts at all and would much rather have a post dinner aperitif or cocktail. Allowing substitution for the dessert course would be tremendously appreciated, even if there was a fee added on! read more

I came to Lynn's Bistro since my parents were in town, and one of my colleagues had suggested it. I was definitely impressed by this quaint restaurant in Kirkland! We ordered the French Onion Soup, Seafood Fettuccini, Shrimp Ravioli, and the Duck Breast. My favorite dishes were the shrimp ravioli and the duck breast - the sauce for the ravioli was really yummy, especially when paired with the bread. The duck breast was really tender, and I was definitely not used to this preparation since I usually eat Chinese-style duck. My only qualm with the place was the French Onion Soup, which was a tad on the salty side. No one at our table could finish it, but everything else tasted great. This cannot be a 4.5 star rated restaurant. I was intrigued by the high ratings as well as the availability of escargot. There's no way that I would have known this place was here unless I really looked for it or searched for it on the web. It is a small but cozy restaurant located in a strip mall along Central Way in Kirkland. Inside, romantic setting and dim lit decor is inviting and has about 12 tables. I think they are closed on Monday and open the rest of the week in the evenings from 5 PM to 9 or 10ish. I went for the $30 grand prix where you get a choice of soup/salad, entree', and dessert. I also added an appetizer. The bread was hot and came with butter. The bread is not the typical French bread, rather it tasted like a cross between a scone and biscuit. The bread crust broke off like a biscuit and the inside is more scone-like where the crumbly inside was not the light chewiness of its French counterpart. Escargot: $14 for escargot. High priced, rubbery tasting and did not come with any of the crispy starch offerings like crispy toast points or the like. Salad: Spinach salad. Decent tasting with a raspberry vinigrette. Greens were "soft/soggy" tasting but acceptable overall flavor. Entree': Ribeye (medium rare). The sauce and method of preparation was excellent BUT the poorest selection of meats. The peppercorns cooked in gravy complimented the steak well with the grilled mixed veggies and delightful potatoes au gratin (not too cheesy and thin sliced = perfect). If only the quality of meat was better, this main meal would have been excellent. Dessert: Creme brulee' nicely made. Still think the creme could be thicker. I would say that Lynn's Bistro would easily be able to provide the 4 to 5 star rating IF the quality of ingredients like fresh vegetables and better choice meats were used. Exclusively magnificent Lynn's Bistro is along the row of bars and small shops on Center Way Avenue in downtown Kirkland. The Bistro can be distinguished by its wooden french waiter cut out and a menu in a glass frame. Though nothing fancy on the outside, the full experience begins inside. The dining area is quite small in footprint and making reservations is key to securing a table. Due to the popularity patrons without reservations was turned away. Though small in area, there is a sense of exclusiveness. The simple menus, the elegant table settings, napkin folds, and french posters all create a unique ambience and private dining setting. The menu features both a la carte and fix price menus. I recommend the fix price as it provides the most value for a multi-course experience. We both ordered from the $35 fix menu. Pre-dinner drink Limoncello Fizz: Nice and light pre-meal drink. First Course: Complementary bread and butter: freshly toasted baguette with whipped butter pipped on a plate for presentation. French Onion Soup: My better half had ordered this as a starter from the fixed price menu. Croutons and Gruyere cheese was in abundance and savory rich broth with tender pieces of onions had the perfect balance for my palette. Spinach salad: Spinach lightly tossed in raspberry vinaigrette with pieces of grilled pears. The salad had a delicate fruity flavor with a small amount of acidity. The pears added a nice variance in texture and overall completes the dish. Second course: Rib Eye Steak: This main entree was served with a Roquefort Cabernet reduction and seasonal vegetables. The steak was prepared medium rare (by request) and had a nice sear. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The reduction glazed the steak enhancing the flavor. The seasonal vegetables were also tender and was a good accompaniment to the steak. Dessert: Mousse Cake: This was a dense cake and almost similar consistency to the a flourless cake or tort. The chocolate was smooth and the vanilla sauce was a nice touch to elevate the dessert. Presentation was very well executed and resembled food art. Creme Brûlée infused with Grand Marnier and vanilla: Another well-done dessert. The sugar topping was nicely torched and not grainy. The custard had a smooth consistency with a subtle flavor of Grand Marnier. Service: Service was excellent and on point. Water glasses were consistently filled, frequent check-ins on taste, anticipated needs, and provided good recommendations. Overall, this bistro is a complete package experience. The first time I had the french toast, upon first bite, I fell into a food gasm. It's one of those things you can't help. Sometimes things just happen, for the better. Either way I wasn't complaining. The french toast was and is amazing, which makes for mouth watering memories that fill my brain whenever I think of Lynn's french toast. It's more custardy and rich than anything. Go for brunch because Lynn serves fresh mini pastries with each entree (croissants, chocolate croissants and scones) that are to die for...especially when they're warm. The service is pretty good, usually there's only one server and Lynn in the restaurant so you can't really expect someone to be at your table 24/7 but it's still good service. It's good because you don't constantly have someone badgering you while you're trying to enjoy your meal and the company you're with. read more

A group of 12 just dined here for the first time on Friday. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A 20% gratuity is automatically added to parties of 6+. This restaurant is small and intimate. The ambiance is geared more towards romantic dining with dim lighting, table top candles, white table cloths and low conversations. Complimentary rolls and butter are provided to nibble on while perusing the menu. For my drink I ordered a glass of CMS Hedges red blend for $7 (however I was charged $8. Not sure why since the menu clearly shows $7.) My wife ordered a glass of Red Hook ESB for $5. Lynn's offers a full bar if mixed drinks is ones preference. For our meals we shared the soup of the day (Mushroom and Barley) for $8. I like mushrooms and really enjoyed this tasty pureed soup. My wife doesn't care for mushrooms so of course she wasn't a fan of this soup. For my meal I ordered the Shrimp Ravioli for $19: served with a Lobster sauce, mushrooms, prawns, and Parmesan cheese. I received about 5 ravioli's and 1 prawn. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side for my tastes and I think the price was a bit steep for the 5 ravioli's. I wouldn't order this dish again. My wife ordered the Sauté Chicken for $20: a full breast (two half breasts) served in a red wine mushroom sauce atop a small mound of mashed potatoes. A wonderful array of vegetables (assorted squash, zucchini and mushrooms) also adorned her chicken. This dish was absolutely delectable. I found myself eating almost all of my wife's meal. This place has great food!!! Ordered their: 1. Famous French Onion Soup 2. Rib Eye Steak 3. And the Rib Eye Steak came with a mini Chocolate Mousse Cake 4. The meal included some really good bread too! All of the food was 10/10. Nice staff and great service (took about 20ish mins for to-go order, which is not that bad). I had a wonderful dinner here with my husband and parents. We made reservations, which I would highly recommend. I heard the staff telling a couple that the restaurant was all booked for the evening, but this was also on a Friday night. The menu is really flexible. They offer 2 different 3-course meal options and then you have the option of ordering any of those items al la carte as well. So there is pretty much something to satisfy everyone. I had the fish special that was halibut and it was amazing. The lemon caper sauce really complemented the fish. Our party also had the ribeye and it was impressive, a big piece of meat! A pork tenderloin and some french onion soup. Everything was very tasty. A couple things to note, the service is slow. They warn you when you first sit down, but just something to be aware of. Drinks, apps, everything took quite awhile. The restaurant is also a little cozy and at times can be a little stuffy. Not really their fault, the space is small. Other than that, we felt the prices were pretty reasonable for the quality and quantity. read more
