Decent food. Atmosphere is pretty casual and prices aren't too bad. I had the foie gras (good), the spinach salad w/pear (too much dressing imo but enjoyed the grilled pear combo), crab cakes (rich salty and moist), and creme brulee (rich) with a glass of the Chateau. The pacing of the meal was nicely done and the presentation was nice. It all had a fancy home-cooked feel to it, rather than a fancy restaurant feel. Decent French. The food is pretty consistent here if you stick with the items that are set on the mix and match side of the menu. We made the mistake of venturing away from that once and were disappointed. What a special dining experience. The service was great and the ambiance cozy and romantic. The best part was the food. The crusty warm bread was freshly baked straight from the oven. The good and the Fair.... Have been going to Lynn's for almost 20 years. The first time was 2000 or 2001 I think, and finally got a disappointing dish. But first... The crab cakes and shrimp were amazing. The sauce was (very) rich and flavorful. My partner's shrimp ravioli with lobster sauce was also a big hit. The sauce was also very rich. Keep in mind that having both the crab cakes and ravioli may have been too much heavy for one meal. Not a criticism, just an observation. Now to the only disappointing dish I've ever had at Lynn's. My beef bourguignon was bland. It was about 80 percent beef which was a bit dry. There was a couple of small chucks of onion, a few bite sized potato pieces, and 5 or 6 good sized pieces of carrot. All well cooked. The problem was the sauce. It was thin and needed something/anything to give it some flavor. I used salt and pepper there for the first time ever. I'll go back of course. Close to 50 meals over the years, and only one that wasn't up to snuff. I've had one or two meals that were not to my taste, but that is not her fault. A venison dish some years ago comes to mind. A real gem hidden in Kirkland. We would never have found it or ventured in if we were not seeking to discover a new place during seattle restaurant week. We typically look for resataurants that offer their signature dishes and Lynn's Bistro delivered. We ordered the crab cake, which were 2 good sized cakes made of mostly crab, not extraneous filling. It came with a side of veggies (zukes and peppers) and scalloped potatoes. The seafood crepe was a delicious dish made of shrimp, monkfish, ling cod, wild white king salmon - all perfectly cooked - in saffron sauce wrapped in an amazingly paper thin crepe. It was a special that the chef was offering today as part of the srw menu, and that is what I love about this gem - that they would add specials to their srw menu instead of taking items off as other restaurants. For appetizers, we had the French onion soup and the escargot. The soup was full of caramelized onions and cheese. The escargots were tender and immersed in a heavenly garlicky buttery sauce. And, did I mention that the bread was delectably soft and tender? a good sign of a good restaurant is good bread and this was good bread, esp when used to sop up the garlicky sauce with the escargot. chocolate mousse dessert, which we both had, was silky and chocolately. I went here for lunch yesterday and was so suprised! I had no idea this little gem was hiding so close to my house! The perfect place to sip on coffee or tea and have an authentic French crepe, or their daily special Quiche. The food was great, the waitress was a pretty and attentive young lady. We had wished they had brought the bread out prior to the meal, but other than that everything was great! Cant wait to go back. Love the french ambiance and the vintage radio in the back had me green with envy! Dont go with a large group and expect a fast meal, but if you have some time to savor the experience definitely check it out. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant to those who want fine French dining in a cozy little cafe in downtown Kirkland. When we want to treat our out of town guests to delicious French cuisine we take them here and each time we come Chef Lynn never fails in serving us her delicious dishes. Before we start we are presented with a basket of her warm fresh bread made in the restaurant. I highly recommend starting with the escargots. Our favorite is the French onion soup. It's perfectly balanced and not at all salty. Lynn is famous for her melt in your mouth scalloped potatoes that accompanies every dish served. Service is friendly and wonderful . Lynn is remarkable in that some nights she's in the kitchen by herself whipping out delicious French foods. All her desserts are made by her as well. A truly remarkable chef. read more

Lynn's is the kind of place that you go into and think... huh. What exactly is going on here. It's like this nice sit down place you take your grandma to. That said, my wife and I found we adored it very quickly. The ambience might not be quite what hipsters and modern diners expect, but anyone passing it over because they don't care for the looks of the place is doing themselves a disservice. The food is fantastic, the portions are very stout, and Lynn is just a gem of a lady. The brunch in particular is grand because of all the little pastries she makes. Man, I am dreaming of them right now. In any case. It is a very small place, and while I've never had anything but super friendly service they can get a little busy. Go in for the friendly people, the lovely food, and the warm atmosphere. Just make sure you face towards the kitchen so you can see Lynn at work, we always fight over who gets to watch her work. read more

I chose the three course meal and was impressed with all three courses. My first course, the spinach and pear salad, was an interesting choice and tasted great. The entree, though, is where the meal really stood out. I chose the crab cakes and they were fantastic. These were easily the best crab cakes I've eaten. Dessert was enjoyable as well. Lynn helped us feed a group of 24 in town for a wedding as a catering take-out order. We had tins of crab cakes in lobster sauce, rack of lamb in sauce Robert, and duck in cherry merlot sauce, along with scalloped potatoes, a  vegetable mix including brussels sprouts with mushrooms separate, and rolls. We made our own spring mix salad. To help all transport well, the duck breasts were left whole for us to carve, and all sauces left separate for us to pour over. All 3 proteins were fantastic and the potatoes were a nice accompaniment. The mushrooms were also quite good. Our only complaint would be the Brussels sprouts were undercooked and the whole pan of veggies under-seasoned. Next time I'd omit Brussels sprouts from the vegetable assortment. We had a lot of leftovers which we enjoyed at later meals. Everything reheated well, including the beds of kale under the duck and lamb, nicely flavored by the sauces. We roasted the mixed veggies to cook them further and added additional seasoning. This was our first time eating Lynn's creations, and we would highly recommend her bistro. I would struggle to decide between the crab, lamb, and duck when eating in the restaurant because they were all so delicious, cooked and flavored just right. read more

I came here when the restaurant was closed to the public for a private wedding. It was my first time here and I am dying to come back again. The food was delicious. They had prepared a lovely menu for the evening and nobody was disappointed with the food. The service was incredible as well. Extremely slow service. Frustrating parking. No gluten-free options. We had a reservation for a large group (11) on a Sunday. I was first to arrive, a few minutes after our reservation due to not being able to find parking, and waited patiently for a couple of minutes at the host stand. No one acknowledged me. Saw our table was set up and eventually walked over. At that point one of the wait staff asked if I was with the reservation. We sat down, and others in our group slowly trickled in (everybody had a hard time parking). A busboy brought water, but no one took a drink order. Everything was very slow. When our server came to get a drink order, after we'd all been sitting a while, we asked to place our food order too, as some of us had another appointment afterward. He warned us there was only one cook, so he could guarantee nothing. We asked about gluten free options, and was told the menu is as it is. There were omelets and salads, everything else involved bread. They also brought out two baskets of pastries. I wish they would have asked about that when they were told some of us were celiac. We had kids at the table who couldn't eat the tasty items sitting in front of them, which is hard especially when you have to wait a really long time for your food. Food otherwise was tasty. I might go here again if I have no time constraints at all. But probably not. I hope they add some gluten substitutions to their menu. read more

Woo-hoo Restaurant Week in Seattle. Where to go? What to eat? I opted for Lynn's Bistro in Kirkland for two reasons. One, it's on the east side where I live and two, it's French and since I'm going on a glutenous tour of Southern France in five months, I want to eat French food but just as the two stars indicates, meh, I HAVE experienced better. Service started out promising since we arrived a good 20+ minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. Then we were forgotten about for 10 minutes. Nobody told us about the specials of the day or that they were out of foie gras, rabbit, AND crab! This information should all be told to the customers before they review the menu and decide on what to order. A few minutes too long later, we ordered our 3 course meals (French onion soup starter, Halibut w/basil vinaigrette & mango salsa for me/pork chop for bf, dessert) and our cheese plate, which ended up being different cheeses than what the waiter told us when we inquired what the cheeses would be. As the night went on, service was ok. Our waters were always full but it did take a while to get our bill. At one point in the evening, there was some commotion outside and there were police lights flashing with an officer directing traffic. The other waiter working felt compelled to look out the window and even go outside to see what was going on. A bit more informed and attentive wait staff would help this establishment. Food: Soup was good, piping hot, super cheesy, and VERY filling. Côtes du Rhône red and white wines were both fine. Cheese plate was good - triple cream brie, chevre, and a roquefort served with sliced red apple and red grapes(?). I feel the cheese plate could've used some sort of sauce (honey, preserve, chocolate, etc) and/or some almonds or something. Our entrees were served with vegetables (carrots, brussels sprouts, onion) which didn't seem like an appropriate pairing with fish. My halibut was cooked perfect, basil vinaigrette was delicious, but the mango salsa could only be tasted in a couple of bites. The side potatoes au gratin were very rich but good. Dessert (creme brulee for me, chocolate mousse for bf) were average. I left feeling that the meal lacked the punch in flavor and presentation that French food usually has. read more

Currently on bedrest I had a craving for something sweet so I sent my husband to pick up a to go order. We stay less than 3 min walk away. I ordered the crepe, mousse and bread pudding (did I mention that I am pregnant). The mousse and bread pudding were decent enough BUT the crepe. Went here for restaurant week, and i totally recommend a reservation. This place was tiny, and i wouldnt have otherwise gotten a seat without it, a couple came in after me and the wait was set for 45 mins! Started dinner with some French onion soup, which was quite standard, and some chicken pate. The pate was definitely a treat; with the pate served generously, I actually had to try to force myself to finish most of the pate as I could, very classy appetizer, and Im glad they didnt skimp on the garnishes! We ordered the steak and the crabcake and split both. Thank goodness for that because the crabcake is HEAVY, it is legit crab chunks that can be very overindulgent after the first piece. Thankfully the meat balanced it out for me, but we were still quite stuffed after our meal. Desert was a sweet afair with some flan and red velvet cake. If i had the stomach for it I totally would have went for the creme brulee, because the serving looked huge!! Tasty foods, but not the most intimate of atmospheres. I made a reservation for 6:00 over a week in advance. We arrived on time and sat and waited for our waiter for about 10 minutes to ask if we wanted a drink. We had a delicious meal and sat to finish our glass of wine after dinner. The waiter brought us our check which we promptly paid. Immediately after we paid the waiter came and asked us to move as they needed the table for someone else. It was only 7:30 at this point so its not like we had been lingering for awhile. It ruined a perfectly good meal. I could understand if we had been sitting there for 1/2 hour with no food or drink but this was not the case. It was totally inappropriate. read more

One of the few eastside restaurants open on a Monday for Seattle restaurant week, so my friend and I dropped in. Despite it being a rather small space, it was all well-decorated and we were immediately seated. My friend ordered the escargot for her appetizer, and I chose the butternut squash soup. Both were delicious, and that's saying a lot since I've avoided snails my entire life. My friend went with the ribeye for the entree, but I went for the duck since the waiter said it isn't available year-round. The ribeye was yummy and tender, and the duck was nice and moist. It was a bit fatty and I'm not a fan of skin, but all in all it was pretty good. The best part was the berry cheesecake. Now I'm sure you're thinking, "you can get cheesecake anywhere!" Well, this is true. However, what we tasted was not just any cheesecake. It was heavenly dairyliciousness. Seriously, get the cheesecake. read more
