    Filet steak. Decent.
    Martyn L.

Lynn's Bistro is a French-inspired restaurant in central Kirkland. We recently went there for a special occasion dinner, because of its proximity to our other activities. The space is attractive, well-decorated and moderately spacious. The location does not have parking, and in general parking in Kirkland is a bit of a pain but we did find a paid space a couple of blocks away without too much trouble. Service was friendly but not attentive. It took quite a long time for dishes to arrive, and we didn't hear much from our server after food delivery. I had intended to order another drink but there wasn't really any chance to. The menu selection is quite good. There were several dishes that appealed to us in both the appetizer and main course categories, and at least one thing each in the small dessert section. The main courses are almost all accompanied by the same thing. On the day we were there it was scalloped potatoes and sauteed mixed vegetables. While the potatoes were great the saute was just ok, and we would have preferred to have more selections of side dishes to choose from and different sides with each dish. Disappointing. Menu prices are not cheap, but not ultra-pricey either. The interpretation of pricing was very generous. We had ordered two appetizers and two main courses. Without being asked the server converted one of our meals into a Prix fixe, and our second appetizer became the dessert of that meal. This was a significant cost savings and above and beyond in terms of flexibility. Food quality was good but not amazing. I had a pate, that was very good, which came with a salad and some very hard crostini, which I replaced with the good free bread rolls. My wife had the goat cheese salad which was decent. We both had steaks for the main course (Ribeye and Filet). They both came in the same peppercorn sauce, and they were fine but not special. Overall, based on the reviews I had very high expectations of this restaurant, and instead it was just so-so. I enjoyed everything, but the lacklustre service, lack of side dishes and overall food quality wouldn't make me return soon. There are plenty of better choices around.

I've been itching to try Lynn's Bistro as there aren't many classic French places on the Eastside. Happily they accommodated us on short notice. The staff is super friendly and efficient and professional in their service. We had the Prix Fixe menu with Caesar salad, the rib eye and filet mignon, and chocolate mouse and creme brûlée.The prices were good for the portions. The great: the steaks were cooked to perfection. Filet was superb and tender, and the rib eye flavorful, and both had a great crust, and the meat portions were generous. The mousse and brûlée were excellent. The good: the Au gratin was rich, creamy and tasty. Bread rolls were good. Wine prices were very fair for the quality. The average: salad was just ok- it felt like something hastily assembled, not much authentic taste. The peppercorn sauce for the steaks had little resemblance to a classic French peppercorn sauce - it was more like brown Au ju with a few scattered peppercorns. The side veggies were a bit boring. In sum, Lynn's was good, but a bit of a letdown. A Paris brassiere usually manages similar fare with more flavor, and places like Cafe Juanita, while a bit pricier, deliver a more impressive taste experience. I might have enjoyed the Halibut, the duck breast, or other choices a bit better. We might return, but would encourage more work in the salads, sauces, and side veggies.

I'm going to start this review with a plead for more business for them. (No relation whatsoever on my part) Lynn is the fantastic Vietnamese owner and chef, trained in the art of French food. Despite her own financial struggles during the COVID shutdowns, she donated meals to the local hospitals. Though they are open, when I called to place my order yesterday, they said they don't have a single reservation and plans to close early. Heartbreak! Their food is delicious and completely worthy of your attention. When I posted about them in my neighborhood group, so many people spoke up with their personal testimonials for their food, excellent experiences, and said they will make an effort to go. If you're reading this, please do so as well, maybe for a special occasion or an end of week celebration. Onwards to the food. Their crab cakes is my favorite dish, especially with that lobster sauce, hubba hubba! - 5+ Stars Their crab cakes standalone perfectly well, excellent quantity of crab meat, seasoned and pan-seared. I like that they don't do a coating; it's all about the crab! That lobster sauce, holy moly! Try dipping the bread in it too. Carbohydrates heaven! Lamb shank dinner - 5+ Stars This is hubby's favorite dish. The meat is fork tender with scoop-able bone marrow. Hubby is a big eater; combined with the salad and some of my potatoes, he actually spread this to two dinners. That's an impressive size! Dinner Rolls - 5+ Stars They even packed their (free) wonderful rolls for us. I forgot how tasty they are! Crusty on the outside. That perfect chewiness on the inside. I'm sure you know what I mean. Spinach Salad with Grilled Pears - 3.5 Stars This is probably a higher rating, but I forgot how much I dislike cooked pears. LOL. But hubby like the dish, along with the onions and raspberry vinaigrette. Bon Appétit!

This place is what I call a gem. I was recommended this restaurant (and its Italian sister Lilac Café) by a former colleague whose food opinion I respected greatly. That's why there is a little place in my heart for both restaurants. While Lilac is closed, we are fortunate to still have Lynn's Bistro. If it wasn't for him, I would miss out on a treasure. It is close to the Kirkland Transit center but it is a bit hidden away from the main sites of main Downtown Kirkland so one can miss it. In regards to Lynn's Bistro pre -and post pandemic. It is an intimate place that would great for a really romantic date. Wine and French food with white table cloths.. perfection. When indoor dining returns definitely put it on your list. As of now, they offer takeout Tuesday to Saturday. I last had them on Tuesday during Seattle Restaurant Week to show support. I had the spinach and grilled pear salad with a raspberry vinaigrette, braised lamb shank with a red wine Demi reduction and the creme brûlée. These items are still available through takeout. The meal came with bread that was good on its own but even better to sop the sauce of the lamb shank. Speaking of which, the lamb shank was great and the meat was "fall of the bone" tender which isn't the easiest to do with lamb. The salad was good and it was a first time experience having pears in my salad. I truly loved the creme brûlée due to cracking the Caramelization on top into the smooth and creamy dessert. Yes you can get this treat to go, but make sure to return the bowl it came it. From what I can tell, they don't do delivery but they do pickups I haven't had the chance to partake in the wonderful crab cakes but I have heard great things about them. That would be on my list to try too. They have very recently changed their website (like last week approximately) so the menu items should be up to date. And of course, you can call to order or check out what is available. Which you should. Come to Lynn's

Cute little, unassuming bistro in Kirkland. We made reservations for a work dinner together. We were initially interested by the menu options and their pre-fixe meal. I was also recommended this restaurant by a friend who lives in Kirkland. Our server Sam was really great and patient with our group. Everyone was really happy with their meals. Portion sizes are not small and really worth the value. Sometimes you're like ok it's big but is it good? It's good! I really enjoyed the crab cakes and potatoes that came with it. Perfect texture. Would definitely come back if you're ever in the mood to splurge out or celebrate something!

It's our 5th time here and it's still the best like we remember . Love the new place .

Local restaurant focused on French style cuisine, inside is intimate and decor is a little outdated, but the flavors and taste definitely shined! Food: 5/5 Our group each opted to do their prefixed menu ($51) that comes with 3 courses and shared -Escargot: Recommend! Great flavor and texture -Chicken Liver Pate: large portion, def sharable -Dungeness Crab Cake: highly recommend, this was my favorite entree! The sauce was so flavorful -Duck Breast: highly recommend, a close second to the crab cakes and very generous portion -Bread pudding: very nice and moist/warm, great way to end the meal Service: 5/5 All the waiters were very nice and attentive, you can even see the chef cooking through the window from your seat. Overall, I would definitely come back and think the prefix menu is well worth considering all that flavor and great portions!

Duck Breast: yummy!!! I love duck and they really nail this. Portion is big! The merlot sauce is definitely amazing!

*This comment based on my visit before COVID-19* Food is always good! Portion is huge! To me this is not 100% authentic French cuisine but I'm satisfied in general. And yes the price is reasonable for 3 courses menu! I'm mostly full already before dessert :P I'll come back whenever I'm in Kirkland. I love their duck!!

The actual setup of the place is nice, it has a beautiful bar area and an outdoor seating space for nice weather. However, the vibe just wasn't incredibly welcoming. To make matters worse, the staff was very mediocre and not super friendly, which really dragged down the whole experience. I really wanted to have a better experience here given how perfect the location is, but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it. With so many other welcoming spots within walking distance in Kirkland, you are better off looking elsewhere for good drinks and a friendly vibe.

Obviously the person on the grill wasn't trained or wasn't paying attention. Pacing was also a problem. Waited pretty long to order. Then salads came while we were finishing last bites of the appetizer. Then entrees came while I was literally in the middle of my salad. Talk about rushed. That salad would have been good if the shaved parm had been shaved. However, the pieces of parm were huge - really thick. Can't imagine who would think that was a good bite on a salad. The Broccolini was half cooked. I could barely cut the stem with a steak knife. Obviously. I couldn't eat those stems. They did not have a flight of wine that was all reds (i don't drink white wine). So why 4 stars instead of less? The mushroom toast appetizer was fantastic. I shouid have stopped there and would have been happy. The ceasar dressing and large crouton were good, even if the shaved parm was a bust. Once the steak was served to me medium as I'd ordered it, it was delicious and the fries were crispy and went well with the steak. I enjoyed the glass of wine I ordered. Looks like a typical American restaurant you would see in any town or city. I did notice the staff are very casually dressed with t-shirt uniforms which made me think this place is much more casual than I expected based on the menu. We ended up trying the following: - Spicy Steamed Manila Clams: Below average. The clams themselves were fine, but they were completely overpowered by the chorizo and broth. It felt more like eating a chorizo dish, with a few clams included. - Foie Gras Torchon: Ok. Foie gras was fine, but the crostini felt store bought and rather cardboard-like. - Peach and Burrata Salad: Ok. We got exactly as described, but didn't find it particularly fresh. - Chicago Pulled Pork Dip: Ok. Not an item I normally see on the menu in this part of the USA, it was not bad. Good bread to meat proportion, and pulled pork was pretty good. Chips were good too. Hearty dish, but not particularly memorable in any way. - House Cut French Fries: Below average. Fries were soggy. I thought the garlic-saffron aioli was a mustard because of how yellow it was - it didn't taste like much. Service was adequate. Friendly enough, but nothing outstanding. I will give credit for the complimentary cookies at the end of the meal - that was nice. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe I was expecting more because of the high ratings on Yelp and Google reviews. I feel they have a pretty solid looking menu, but they cut corners on quality and execution, so the final result doesn't compare to other restaurants serving the same type of food.
