M&H did an excellent job with our move, and I highly recommend them. When selecting a mover, one of the most important considerations is trust. You hire someone to move your possessions from one location to another and trust that they will be timely, communicative, professional, and above all, safely deliver your items without damage. In our case, we hired M&H to move several furniture items from two stores in Southern California to the Bay Area. I sent them the list of items and locations to pick them up. As the items were heavy and fragile, they spent a lot of time ensuring they were protected during the move. A lot of blankets, cardboard, and tie-downs were used to ensure that the furniture we purchased would not be damaged. They arrived reasonably close to their estimated arrival time and were able to unload our items quickly. All of the items were undamaged and in the same condition as when we purchased them. My wife and I moved from the South Bay to San Bernardino County the week between Christmas and New Years. Hector and his partner David were very flexible with us. We were concerned about the rain and Hector was kind enough to let us flex between days based on the weather. The day of the moved they arrived right on time. They were actually a few minutes early. Hector and David were very friendly and took excellent care of all of our furniture, TVs, and even moved an extremely heavy elliptical and upright piano without issue. Even the glass/mirror coffee table made it to our new house without a scratch. I would highly recommend Hector and his crew to anyone in need of movers. Their rates are unbeatable and it was not too good to be true. I hope I won't be needing movers for a while not but I will definitely be contacting these guys again for me next move. read more

**Edit Review*** We initially agreed the rate is 90/hr NOT 120/hr. I wouldn't mind paying 120/hr if Hector gave me a heads up. The sketchy part here is he charged me the higher rate AFTER without my consent Based on the high reviews here, I reached out to Hector to help me move from my 1 bedroom apartment to my family home about 13 minutes away. Initially we agreed the rate was 90/hr flat with no hidden fees. Seems pretty straightforward to me. While Hector and his team were thorough and pleasant to work it, what I don't appreciate is the lack of transparency. When it was time to pay Hector, he informed me it was 120/hr because he had 3 movers instead of 2 movers. Why would he wait til the end of the night 5 hours laters to tell me that he's charging me 33% more than our initial agreed fee? Another practice I find sketchy is the time it took for the team to commute from my apartment to my new destination. While it took me about 13 minutes, it took more than 1 hour for the movers to get there. While Hector enticed me that he wouldn't charge me for gas fee, the stalling of time at 120/hr turns out costing me way more. Hector is dishonest with his business practice and price transparency. Woohoo I moved!! Thank you MandH Movers! If you are still doing your research, please read my review, I hope it helps you to make your decision. I started searching movers on Yelp last minute because I didn't know I would get a new place faster than I thought. I got a couple of quotes but decided to choose MandH movers because of the price they offer, and there's no hidden fees! I confirmed it to them about this because I didn't want any surprises. There was a little extra charge for gasoline and gratuity is optional. The communication with the owner, Hector, was good from the beginning. Tips: If you want to save money, you have to make sure you pack everything properly and line it up near the door. That way they can work more effectively. Remember, we pay them hourly. So when the boxes are prepared, they work faster - take the box, and load it to the truck. Unless you don't have time to pack things, I suggest you put at least 80% of your stuff in boxes and leave the furniture and TV, etc to them. I use mostly medium size boxes from Walmart, they won't be too hard to carry! I requested 3 movers on my moving day, and they came on time. They came in their t-shirt uniform that has the logo of the company. The people who helped me that day were Nicholas, Benjamin, and Jose ( I hope I got their names correctly). They were so friendly and they worked fast. They cover every delicate stuff and furniture. My moving went smoothly. The driving time between my old place and the new place was just right. It didn't take long for them to transport everything. None of my stuff broke, they did a good job, and at my new place they assembled the bed back, and also the TV stand. Everything went smoothly. I rounded up their working time to 5 hours, plus a decent amount of tips for each as a token of my appreciation. I chose cash/venmo, it gave me a better rate. I spent a total of $700 for 5 hours, 3 workers, gasoline and gratuity. Old place was on the 2nd floor with direct access to the steps/stairs, and no elevator. New place is on the ground floor (faster process). I would definitely recommend this company, and hopefully your experience is going to be the same as mine, or even better! NOT RELIABLE OR HONEST: Hector's team moved me from LA to OC April 2022. During that move their truck was in a car accident on the freeway and my new tv and dresser were damaged. I tried to work with hector for months for any type of payment as he supposedly waited for the car insurance claim to go through. Fast forward one year and I have contacted hector monthly and he offered to send me $500 via venmo. Months went by and still no venmo. June 2023: I negotiated with Hector and offered to drop the $500 charge if he helped pack my moving pods for my out-of-state move. He committed to helping for Thursday 6/15. I called him to confirm a few days before and he asked if he could come Wednesday morning instead. I had to coordinate with the moving pod and my work schedule to make it work but I figured it out. Hector promised that as a chance to make it better he'd bring some moving blankets, shrink wrap and take care of everything. Same story as so many others: after confirming with Hector yet again that morning he absolutely bailed. No call, no show, no nothing. I called him 5+ times even from different phone numbers to try to get him to pick up. I had to rally several friends to help load all my things in the pods which was extremely stressful upon a big move. They no showed for the time and date they were suppose to move me. They never called to confirm 45 min before like they said they would. I had to call repeatedly and text before someone called me back to tell me that their moving truck broke down on the freeway and they would now make it. They called 30 min past the time they were suppose to be there which was 1.25 hours after they were suppose to call to confirm. And it was 5 pm on a Friday night! If it wasn't for the kindness of friends I would have been screwed. Edited: After seeing Hector's response to the above review I wanted to add that the scheduled time was 5 pm on a Friday NOT 2pm he is lying. Also he did tell me he could bring people to move me but it would be the next day! NOT the same day. All set for a Sat 9am moving truck + 3 guys, set up weeks in advance, and they just NO CALL/ NO SHOW and refused to answer our calls that day to explain. We panicked & scrambled to find backup movers later in the day, which was not easy, and wow what an awful thing to do to someone - at least own up and answer the phone! There was no communication throughout the day as I asked for an update on if the service was being delayed or cancelled. There's nothing more stressful than having movers no show! This review will be short and sweet because they simply did not show up. We booked this company several days in advance and when it was time to follow up, there was no answer for hours. Eventually, Hector contacted me via Yelp to let me know he could not find his phone. Even after he wasn't in contact with us for many hours, we had originally booked with him so we kept our side as reliable customers to continue business with this company after he told he us could not find his phone for 4 hours. On the moving day, he sent a message via Yelp stating he was rear ended on the freeway and could not help us. It was very last minute (7:16am and our appointment was at 8:00am) and he didn't even have the courtesy to call. He sent a message that could have easily been missed. The company owner- Hector let me know he was out of state and that's why he had not been responding. Four days after, but Hector was very nice and professional over the phone. I value that and I try to when possible use a small or family business. I was able to book his moving service which is straight forward with the pricing just gas for long distances ( over a few miles, which I found is standard for CA but others had addtl fees for Everything) and no additional or hidden fees. DO NOT RECOMEND! professional rates for inexperienced workers who successfully stalled a 3 hour job to a 5 hour job. After begging for only a refund of only my deposit, $100, (should have been $260 ($130 per hour)), I received nothing back. WORST customer service ever! Every time me or my family looked in the back of the loading truck, the two guys were looking at each other either clueless on how to pack things or purposely stalling loading items. In addition I followed them when we drove from Okotoks to Calgary and they chose to take a 30 minute lunch break furthering the delay of work completion as my family waited for them to arrive to unload the truck. Hector is amazing!! At the last minute my first mover cancelled so I inquired on Yelp for a mover... I need one fast, TODAY. Hector responded quickly with a very affordable rate (I was going from downtown LA to Ontario). Him and his assistant were not only fast, but they also had packaging supplies available to protect all my items free of charge. They both moved very quickly. He was kind and even packaged up my glass items for me since I was rushing and forgot to pack them. It would've been too much for me to move by myself. Hector saved me today!! M&H movers helped me move some really heavy and bulky items out of my storage unit in Thousand Oaks, including an old upright piano, dining room table and armoire and into my home in Pasadena. While we had some trouble communicating before the move, which did concern me, on the day of the move M&H was flawless. They arrived early as scheduled. I had a lot of quotes but M&H was the most affordable hourly rate, had a very reasonable gas charge considering current gas prices, and got the job done an hour earlier than expected, even with making a stop in LA to drop off one of the pieces at my sisters. Moving in LA is painful. In order to soothe that stress, I decided to hire movers. This was my first time ever using movers, so I was a bit nervous. Since I was moving out of a two bedroom apartment, I figured it was best to leave it to the professionals. I needed one mattress, one bed frame with mattress and box spring, one large dresser, two couches, one small desk, one dining table with 4 chairs, one medium sized bookshelf, one tv, and about 15 boxes moved less than one mile away. I was moving from a second floor apartment -- no stairs -- to a small high rise apartment (4th floor). There was an elevator available, and they were able to enter through the second floor garage, therefore, skipping two whole floors. Hector and his companion wrapped the couches, tv, bookshelf, bed frame, etc. so they would not get scratched. However, they had a bit of trouble with the couch and could not get it out of the door which was fine bc I knew the couch was a bit large (they lowered it from the balcony onto the first floor). Overall, it took them about 2 and a half hours to move everything into their truck. The rest of the time they spent moving everything into the new apartment. Total hours spent: 5.5 Although it seemed like they slowed down a bit, I attributed it to the slow elevator in the building. Otherwise, they were quite efficient. If I ever need to move again (hopefully not for a while), I know who to contact. A++ read more

My partner and I had to find last minute mover's because we slowly realized we were going to have a hard time moving things on our own. Our goal was to find someone affordable and going with Hector was the best option. Hector and his team came right on time and the move lasted about 4 hours. Even though we lived on the second floor they were quick but very careful handling our things. I really admired how Hector communicated with his team before handling heavy/expensive items. Hector was very friendly and understanding even we had many requests from him. So here is my experience for my move from Los Angeles to DC... Hector came to my place for an estimate, gave me a quote, was very reassuring that everything would go without any issues so i decided to go with him ... quote was 3200$ ... fast forward to the day before the move... i text him to confirm his arrival time... no answer ... day of the move 8:30a is when i started to try to contact him ... with no luck u til 12:30... he then proceed to tell me that if i want my move to go through it will cost me an extra 1000$ .... At this point it's the day of my move across the country ... what other choice do i have other than to accept .... I first used the yelp option to message all local moving companies to requests quotes. Long story short, H and M Movers initially didn't have my want to start at 8 AM, as they were booked, but their rates and customer service skills after reviewing all other options was what brought me back to them to book them in the afternoon at 2:30. Their communication skill is exceptional, and they are very punctual. Their AM appointment ended early, and they called me to start earlier, and we agreed to 1 PM and they arrived 15 mins earlier for the walk through. They were very quick with packing and careful with all our appliances and furniture. Hector is very straight forward with his price and answers messages on Yelp as soon as possible. It's been extremely helpful moving with H and M Movers and I would definitely use and recommend their services . read more

This is my first time leaving a 1 star review. H and M movers were unprofessional and so unorganized! We called them two weeks in advance to schedule a move, Hector said he was physically at our place the Saturday, a week before our scheduled move, and apologized for mixing up the dates. Then he called to confirm our move date and said he would be there on Friday and I had to clarify with him the move was on Saturday. That should have been our first red flag. I gave them notice we were on the second floor with no elevator because we confirmed how many bedrooms, which floor, etc. We had all of our boxes ready to go from heaviest to lightest for them to make it easier. When they arrive, one guy was standing around for most of the time, they had no idea what they are doing, for 35-45 mins into the move, they only had a few boxes loaded, so I helped them move a few others. When we brought this to Hector's attention that we were a little concerned with the pace of the move, he became defensive and said he was leaving. There were three other people there to witness what happened throughout the process and were equally as shocked by their experience with them.
