To start off with, the positives: absolutely stunning views of the river and downtown Tampa! Would absolutely come again for that alone. All outdoor and only minimally covered, though, so do be aware of weather. Three bars from which to order drinks/stand alone service, if you don't ask to be sat at a table. The wait wasn't overly long for a Saturday at 9 PM, another plus, however, we wanted to move around a bit again so we just grabbed standard drinks at one of the bars and meandered to a clear space to sip and chat and absorb the view. Things that can go either way: big fans- plus for moving air around in a decent crowd, but could be annoying if you got sat too close to one. Very loud club music. We, again, we're just there to sip and see the view so this was a neutral / lean positive for us as it gave a fun and upbeat vibe to the night. I can't speak to the menu items because we only came here for cocktails and didn't see a menu for those at one of the bars. However, we got four VERY standard cocktails (two Tito's and sodas and two house bourbon drinks) and the tag was $59. Hefty price for nothing-to-write-home-about drinks. This is my second time going to M Bird and I should have listened to my gut that once was enough. The service was good. The hostess was very kind, the bartenders, attentive. As you'll see in most of the reviews, the view is 10/10 but for me, it ends there. With NYC prices and a much lower standard, M Birds gets one of the lowest reviews I've ever written and here's why. For the price that M Bird charges for food and drink; for comparison I've paid less eating in Astoria and several NYC restaurants, there was nothing that lived up to the cost. I get it, you pay for the view but with many stellar restaurants popping up all over you're food needs to be up there as well. Truffle fries: Almost no truffle oil to be found. With the lack of truffle flavor it's served with ketchup which made them an overpriced plate of crispy fries. Hummus and Baba ghanoush: Merely ok, the hummus was extremely smokey and the portion size was lacking, despite the physical size of the plate. Burrata salad: The presentation, hmm, I can't quite wrap my head around. It's half a plate and the other half is bare.... The flavor was ok but we didn't finish it. Last but not least for food was the tuna: I order raw or seared tuna at most restaurants as I believe it's an indicator for 1) how fresh the food is and 2) how the kitchen understands flavors. The tuna missed on both marks. The fish was cut so thick and the accompanying "sauces", of which there were almost none, make this dish quite fishy and unappealing. At almost $30, this was the most disappointing dish of the evening. If you're looking to stop by for drinks, it's more of the same. Sorry M Bird, we will not be coming back. read more

It is immensely overpriced because you are paying for the view, but unless you get there at just the right time, you're not going to have a view because others will snag the spot. Whether this is because of covid I am not sure but it took a long time to get drinks. I don't like to ding during covid times but we have been to MANY places that have re opened that are managing under the same restrictions and are doing a better job managing the customers We ordered a couple of drinks that were ok but a little sweet. Nothing that really knocked out socks off. For food we tried Shrimp Spring rolls. OK. Lots more veg than shrimp. And the fell apart very easily. Dipping sauce was good. Yall, i went to M Bird in Tampa at Armature Works on Sunday and spent $11.97. This part is OK. What is not ok is that they took it upon themselves to place a $25 hold on my checking acct for who knows how many days. They didnt do that to my friend and she also rang her card. Who places a hold of $25 for an $11.97 purchase? It's bad business!!!! I did not authorize that nor was advised about it. I called the location multiple times from yesterday through today left two messages, one with a manager and no call back. I go after work, drove for an hour in traffic to resolve the situation with the manager and he told me to call my bank and ask them to take the hold off since he can't find a way to cancel the hold. My bank told me that merchant's know when they place a hold, it will stay for 7 days. The bank can't cancel their debit. I told the manager I'm tired, hungry, have a headache, and took an hour to get here the least he could do in the interim is give me something to eat and he refused. He told me he refunded 9.97 but the waitress keeps my 2.00 tip since he couldn't refund me the $2 as well. I don't think so. I'll be placing a claim. I left a message for the general manager and corporate. Just wow!!! Ya'll dont go to M Bird! They overcharge you and DON'T CARE the hoops you jump through to try to fix their wrong. M. Bird is a cool and upbeat rooftop bar with a variety of cocktails and food. We went on a Thursday evening so the area was busy but this restaurant itself wasn't. Sophia was our server and she was nice and attentive as well as helpful with her recommendations. I have heard parking sucks so we didn't drive, took the water taxi up and down the river nearby. DJ or probably a playlist is what was playing and loud so choose wisely where you sit. Food and drinks didn't disappoint and the view was amazing. It was the pineapple chutney that got me-too vinegary and that left my tastebuds scared and confused. The steak skewers. Damn. Can you charge me more for filet? You didn't ask at what temp I wanted it cooked and I don't eat out for tenderloin: eeek, it's me; not you. The smashed peas- so pretty, yet bland. Not as bland as the coleslaw...I really like slaw too. The curry stuff was missing something-it didn't have to be sweet like traditional slaw- you're mixing things up- but that was downright unappealing. Ask anyone. The tuna tacos saved my betrayed, fragile tastebuds! These meaty, fried little wonton pockets of goodness were awesome! This is hands down one of my favorite rooftops in Tampa. The views are great, the drinks are delish, and the food is tasty too. I like to bring my out-of-town friends here for good vibes and good conversations. I recommend ordering a giant mojito or the Billy Ocean Water. As soon as we walked in, the hostess was on the phone for a good 5 minutes and while on the phone, the new hostess trainee just awkwardly looked at us. Finally, we're going to get sat and the hostess has no idea where to take us and when she finally does, we're sat at the darkest and dirtiest table with bugs all over, some were dead while others were alive, and i couldn't sit in the chairs without pushing the cushion off just by trying to sit. Within the hour I was there, the server came to the table three times which pissed me off even more seeing as how other servers were being so attentive to their tables. View is nice but only if you're sat by the edge, other than that, your view will be of umbrellas and other people and those warmers. Music was a tad too loud to be able to think and it made me feel like i was at a rave, not date night. I personally don't recommend this place. read more

I really enjoy Armature Works and places like this give me that enjoyment. They got an awesome atmosphere, amazing view, and the staff is pretty attentive. We ordered a round of drinks and some jerk chicken rolls. The rolls were pretty good, but the only thing I would criticize would be the jerk chicken being a little too dry, the side sauce needs to be slightly thicker (too runny), and the outside of the roll had some type of flour or something in some spots that had to be knocked off. Other than that I still enjoyed them and the drinks were pretty damm good. I like the fresh garnishes on top. Our server was fantastic and never lost sight of us. That just makes me wanna come back next time.
