The waiter was sweet but made us confused of the menu when we ordered sushi platters with separate specialty rolls. I couldn't even enjoy the specialty roll because I was so confused and irritated. I attended an event this past December in the reception hall at M Vista and the food was the talk of the evening. Everything was made with care and the dishes were diverse and creative, yet comfortingly familiar. I live in New York full time and great Eastern cuisine is nothing new to me. But I thought M went above and beyond to serve innovative, well made food. The space there was lovely by the way, and the owner was very gracious. I recommend this place whole heartedly. read more

I met a friend August 16, 2016 at M. Vista on Lady Street at noon for lunch and had an utterly horrible experience. My friend drove about an hour to meet me. It was a very special treat and one that doesn't happen often and she wanted to visit this restaurant as it was once a favorite. Not anymore! We ordered immediately upon arrival as we are both familiar with your menu. Our waiter Sean W (163) appeared to be new at his job. He did not know the menu. It took him several moments to take our order and we were forced to repeat it multiple times to ensure the accuracy of it. We never saw him again until about 25 minutes later when he returned to tell us that my friend could not have brown rice with her sushi rolls as the brown rice was not sticking. She was forced to completely change her order because she could not eat white rice due to health issues she is currently having. She then ordered salmon, green beans and brown rice. I again requested a lime for my now almost empty water glass and he assured me he would bring it out with some ice for the half glass of water I had left. He then advised me that my order of veggie spring rolls, crab wontons and sushi roll could not come out together. I had explicitly told him upon ordering that it must come out together as it was my meal and I wanted to dine at the same time as my friend. I again reiterated that I wanted it served as my meal but he insisted it was impossible. He returned about five minutes later with my lime, ice and spring rolls. My glass at this time was almost empty of water and my friend's was completely empty. I asked if he would please bring us water. It was freezing in the restaurant as we were seated directly under a blower and so I was forced to eat while my friend still waited for her food to arrive. At this time we had been there at least 35 minutes and I am only afforded a one hour lunch break. About five minutes later he returned with water and crab wontons. Again, I was forced to eat without my friend as she could not share mine due to her dietary restrictions. Around 45 minutes after our noon arrival time he returns with my friends meal minus the brown rice and my sushi roll. He did not bring our requested soy vinaigrette sauce with the food and we were again without water so we asked that he please bring those things along with the brown rice she had ordered. He returns about five minutes later to say that they no longer were serving brown rice. At this point, we were totally done with your restaurant. We believe there was never any brown rice available and he simply did not advise of same. He offered a substitute but with my friend's health issues she could not eat any offered. We ended up checking out of your restaurant at 1:17 p.m. I was late for work and what was supposed to be a wonderful meal shared with a friend was a disaster. We spent more than $40 together for a lunch that was totally sub-par and after that experience we will not return. Just walked out of this restaurant after being sat at a booth and waiting for 20 minutes without a server even acknowledging our presence. I complained to the bartender but he couldn't care less. We won't be back. Terrible service. read more

I've been a patron of M Vista and the Miyo's Family of restaurants throughout the midlands for the last 11 years. This restaurant group has gone from being the pinnacle of Asian cuisine to a non-consistent and frequent "underperformer" in the dining marketspace. Today was very disappointing at lunch. We were forgotten for about 30 minutes and our order was never properly resolved. We ended up leaving without all our food. I am going to try MVista again and hold out hope that the way this restaurant was managed over the past 10 years comes back and fixes the operational issues. I have to add a star and a half because I eat here all the damn time! Mostly, because there aren't many choices for my diet. After my first visit and initial review, I have learned how to order and appreciate the fact that it is one of the few places to get various vegan dishes in Columbia. My faves are the Ginger Tofu and the Thai Basil w/ Tofu. The Ginger is good as is, but I always kick the Thai Basil up to extra hot to get it the way I like. I always sit at the bar because the bartenders are the best servers in the place.....and the 60" screen streaming 'sports that matter' on the wall at the bar doesn't hurt either. read more

The Miyo's establishments have always been great. The food, the service, excellent. I recently frequented the one on Forrest Drive, and it was great. Max, the bartender -excellent. That's what keeps people going back to a place. Also, I like knowing the servers/bartenders - it makes me feel at home. There are other places I could go, but I choose Miyo's at the end of the day. Awful experience!!! Everyone was rude even the hostess. The food was not good and was over priced. They have rats all over their restaurant and roaches! They treat their employees very poorly and it is very sad. The owner/ management is rude as well and does not care about the future of this restaurant. Deserves to be out of business. Really tasty pan-Asian food. Lunch prices are jaw-droppingly cheap for the quality of the food. Dinner tends to be on the high side, but the atmosphere makes it a good place to hang out too. The Singapore noodles is among the better versions of this dish that I've had anywhere in the States. Definitely a good addition to dining in the Vista. Normally I'm apprehensive of a menu that attempts so many different dishes, but everything I ordered in a half-dozen visits was well-executed. read more

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. Started with the lobster spring rolls. Steamed beef with sesame and broccoli and vegetable fried rice for a main dish. Portion was enough for two. Mango sorbet, oh so good, for dessert. Drink selection was tempting and after spending most of the day in the rain, it was the peach cosmopolitan. Waitress was prompt and polite. Did not rush is and allowed us enjoy the food and have great conversations and catch up. Establishment is ultra clean and tres chic. Parking is ample and located behind restaurant. Extremely disappointed! I said 3 years ago I would never come back. Friends invited me to go to dinner before a show, so I agreed. Ordered the Szechuan Seafood which was said to be served over Lo Mein noodles. It didn't say the noodles were deep fried. Couldn't eat them without using a knife to cut them...so I gave up. I am going to give this place 5 stars. We went here before a show at Trutus. We had a very polite and kind waitress. We ordered so much food that our table couldn't be seen underneath the plates. The sushi was wonderful. There is a great deal of imagination put into the sushi. Try the Hawaiian roll and you will understand. The reason why I am giving this restaurant 5 stars is because the communication of the manager to the GM. We did have an issue arise. Believe it ..the GM takes great pride in the customers experience and satisfaction. She called us the next day to apologize on behalf of the restaurant. She also took the time to explain how the foods there are prepared and their philosophy on cooking. Never once did she make any excuses for what happened. She was very gracious in her apology. We will be putting forth another go and trying it again. Now, that I have a little more "behind the scenes" knowledge of the restaurant and the fact that this GM actually was genuinely concerned with our experience. read more

I came here for brunch with my family. I really liked it, and so did they! I was impressed by the size of the menu. They have noodle dishes, they have rice dishes, they have sushi, salads, and even old time favorites like General Tso chicken. The decor is very pretty and their bar looks cool. Service was great. I would like to come back soon. The only downside was parking, since it is in the part of the Vista that has more small businesses and offices. read more

Attempted an early dinner at 5:00 on Tuesday night 6/28/16. I witnessed an employee exit a restroom stall and not wash hands before returning to work. Also had seen both sushi chefs typing/playing on their smart phones in the food prep area and another cook leaning on food prep tables looking at her smart phone. Cell phones have been proven to be one of the most germ-laden devices that we come in contact with, more so than toilets. We decided to leave with no intention of returning. Food for our table of 6 came out one at a time - the first plate came out 15 minutes before anyone else's, entrees before soup, rice 15 mins after entrees, forgot our saki, water glasses completely empty and not refilled once. Stopped at Miyos on Forest Dr which had a ridiculous wait with an entire side closed. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT! M Vista has an extensive menu. I am always wary of places like that, as they usually don't do any one thing well. The sushi is decent. Not the best ever, but good. I had an apple & shrimp salad that really surprised me. The apple added a nice crunch, which balanced the texture of the shrimp nicely. To start off, I was not greeted by anbody when i walked in. It took 10 minutes for somebody to notice me and seat me. After I was seated, it took another 10 minutes for my server to finally come over to my table and ask for my drink. When my dishes were brought out, I noticed that they were all dirty and when i asked for a manager to talk about this they were unable to provide me with one. I re-placed my order and just went with regular sushi and that took 45 minutes to come out. I'm a frequent customer at all of the M's in Columbia, Vista being one of my favorites, followed by M Cafe, M Fresh and M Grille. The quality is consistently good, and comes out FAST, which makes my 1 hour lunch timeframe during the week much more doable. I love the spicy eggplant dish, mixed with shrimp and chicken, along with the mongolian beef, but who am I kidding, every dish I've tried here has been great. The sushi is also a solid choice, especially the Godzilla roll. I like the layout and decor of this place better than some of the other M's, as it seems a little more upscale. Wow, can't believe how bad the service has gotten here. Group of 4 sitting at bar, 20 mins before bartender took our drink orders ONE AT A TIME !!! Apps we ordered with drinks came out in 5, 20, and 35 minute intervals. Drinks had to be asked for over and over again. Sushi ordered with apps came 2 mins before our meal. We split the Thai Basil, Very tasty. As we were finishing our friend got their Sweat and sour chicken, it came as Orange Chicken. Comp. Then 15 mins later they asked again about the Birds nest meal they ordered, appeared 5 mins latter with Shrimp, returned, came back 2 mins later without shrimp, . This is a great go to spot for sushi and sashimi, as well as seaweed salad. Also a great bar with friendly bar tenders and a good crowd for socializing in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. If I'm not in the mood for beer or saki, I get a tea pot full of tea. read more

We had a small group 7....came in within 5 minutes of each other so the waitress went back & forth & back & forth .....actually the whole time....very disorganized. My food wasn't very good....some liked theirs okay......cold. I asked for a glass of wine and finally as we were ready to leave I told her that I didn't want it....her comment "but it's already been poured".....felt like telling her then why didn't I have it....oh well she wasn't very nice but as my nieces go there regularly I decided to give her an extra tip.....it was confusing as to the bill....I paid ....and gave her an extra 32.00 on top of the tip that was included....are you kidding me....I was very upset...as the bill was folded....I did not realize....it stated add 1 Tip. I was completely disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience. The noodles we ordered were dry, almost as if the were not hydrated prior to frying. Our scallops were overcooked to the point of being indistinguishable from the chicken. Our waiter must have been new because he had no clue about the menu items. He was extremely slow, did not bring the side of rice that comes with the entrees, and when asked about it he stated that rice does not come with what I ordered. I finally got up and retrieved a menu from the bar which of course validated my claim. I asked the bar tender to send over the manager and instead the bar tender came to my table.... smh. He offered to bring me some rice (our meal was over at this point) and he gave us a 10%discount even though we left the majority of the food sitting there on the table. I have never had such an awful experience here, granted, I usually only get sushi. But I wanted to try out their other menu items. Never again. read more

I'm not a big fan of Miyos, no real reason, it just seems a bit overrated to me, but this one was pretty good. They have some nice happy hour specials. I was most impressed by the service. The menu didn't mention cucumbers in the sushi, most did mention them, but I specifically ordered one that I thought came without, because I really, really dislike cucumbers. It was just one roll, and I wasn't even going to say anything, but the waiter noticed I had not eaten it, and she insisted on bringing me something else. That kind of service really impresses me, and I will definitely be returning. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. First off, the waiter was super nice and trying to be as accommodating as he could, so no complaints about him. My husband ordered about 3 sushi rolls and asked if they could be all on the same plate since we had a party of 5 people and all those plates would take up too much room. After the guy making the sushi put them all on individual plates, the waiter had told the sushi guy that we had asked for all on one plate. The sushi guy said no that he had already played them and he wasn't going to put them on one plate, even though the waiter had told them before hand all on one plate. So my husband asks for a plate and does it himself. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Like if I didn't have an hour drive home, I wouldn't have gone to the bathroom at all. Then to make matters even more fantastic, after we got home, me and my husband were both starting to feel extremely nauseous. So I guess the food poisoning just sealed the deal on a real crappy review. But once again, the waiter was super nice and apologetic about our experience. read more

I dined with M Vista while in Columbia for a conference. I sat at the bar & order a glass of wine (house wines $3 4-7), egg drop soup, veg spring rolls, & the Hawaiian roll. The bartenders were friendly & attentive. My apps came out quickly, but it took about 50 minutes to get my one roll. The bartender gave me a free glass of wine for my wait. The roll was actually really delicious, far more impressive than the spring rolls & the view from the bar (partial view of a less than attractive part of the kitchen). read more

I've always had a good experience here. This is my favorite place for sit down sushi and their calamari appetizer is my favorite! It's always hot and crispy with a great dipping sauce. The atmosphere is nice and the service has always been decent. I had an issue with my bill once and the manager was extremely helpful in remedying the situation. Looking at some of the other reviews, they mention the owner and how she is not so nice. I know someone who used to work there that attests to this and says everyone calls her 'the dragon lady' because she is so harsh. I've never seen her personally, but even if she is a big fat meanie, she knows how to whip up some good food! They get 5 stars from me. read more

My family and I used to love Miyos and M Vista but our last few visits have been underwhelming. On our latest visit, the rice was undercooked and the server said "that tends to happen a lot with the white rice." It was surprising to me that an Asian chain cautiously serves undercooked rice especially when it's one of my mom's favorite items to take to-go.
