My husband and stopped in after a hike and were really looking forward to the mac n cheese. When we walked in the young man at the register was nice enough, until a cook/angry woman yelled from the back that we needed to go outside and order they were closing in 20 minutes. We should have left then, it was 6pm. All signs on google and posted said they closed at 7pm. The mac n cheese was good enough but ordering on an app was awful and the lady yelling at us from the back of the kitchen was just weird, awkward and plain rude. To me you better have some killer mac n cheese if you are going to allow such horrible service. I doubt we will be back, my husband and I were extremely turned off by our experience. From the other reviews and from friends that live nearby, the woman yelling about something is normal. So after my latest terrible experience, I decided to give this place another try TODAY, on my birthday. All I wanted was the plain Mac & cheese. I order it in advance so I can grab it and then run home and eat it. My order is wrong - I ordered 3 and 2 of the 3 are wrong. Four of us met at Mac Nation Cafe last night and had a wonderful time with delicious food and good service. We thought we would be able to sit outside, but it had rained just before we arrived, so everything was soaked. No problem because there is a great place to sit upstairs. My husband and I ordered the Alabama and Sacramento - AMAZING AND DELICIOUS. We also had a glass of wine each which complimented our food. The wonderful part was the staff. The two gentlemen who were getting orders let us know we would have to wait a moment for someone to pour our wine because they weren't old enough. Someone trained these two well! We carried our food and wine upstairs and had a great view and enjoyed the atmosphere. Our food was amazing and very large portions. Can you say lunch for tomorrow? The people were helpful and friendly. They let us know they would be closing at 7:00, but they would be cleaning around us and not to rush. When we left, we were thanked by everyone for stopping by. So cute, so unique...the service was fantastic, and the setup is so fun. I loved how they had tables and chairs in every nook and cranny, as well as a little store up top. I also appreciated that you could do "mini" versions to allow you to sample different flavors. I can't say that my flavors were all super distinct from each other...I think it would be fun to maybe have a variety of at least pasta shapes so there was a slight variation in the base before all the toppings are added. We stumbled across it on our way to Mount Falcon for a hike. It's tucked away on a little corner of the road and as soon as I saw "MAC NATION" I said we NEED to stop there on our way back. Stopped in today to order green chili takeout. I met 2 fabulous people, Angelic and Q who prepare food beautifully in the kitchen area. They are so welcoming and were so very lovely to me as I waited. The restaurant not overly crowded at the time I got there, so we were able to chat. They were both so wonderful in making my wait filled with such spirit and pride in their delicious foods on the menu. Angelic and Q are filled with joy and goodwill and I will be returning to try other delicious menu items which include many scrumptious looking mac and cheese dishes to try too! Once we finally got our food they got the order wrong so we went back and asked nicely for them to clarify and possibly correct one of the dishes and they started arguing with us. Once they finally stated remaking the order they were insulting us in the kitchen and started cursing with the windows open. I have been working on the restaurant business for over 15 years and with my experience I would never treat a customer like no matter how rude that being said being on the receiving ends of a customer's complaint I was clear concise and actually wasn't rude, at all others were baffled of the situation that took place. I would love to tell you exact language . This place was extremely toxic. We'd like to talk to the owner if possible. NEVER COMING BACK. Wow wow wow you have to eat here! Got the order to go and it was amazingly satisfying. First you are going to have a hard time picking from the menu because all of the options are amazing. I went with the flight of 3 different flavors. You can't go wrong with what you pick. I like my mac basic and my favorite is the New Jersey. The best Mac and cheese in Colorado! This place is a hidden gem. Mac Nation has been on my bucket list for a long time and the wait and long drive from home was well worth it. They have every Mac and cheese combo you can think of named after all the states, so you can order to your heart's desire. The portions are huge and prices range around $12-14 which is very reasonable for how much food you get. I tried the East Carolina which came with BBQ pulled pork and I highly recommend it. The bbq was divine and the Mac and cheese was heavenly. I couldn't have asked for a better Mac and cheese duo. The meal was dense and packed with lots of bbq and cheese and the noodles were perfect. This is the perfect baked dish we have all been waiting for during quarantine. There are lots of hikers and tourists who stop by this popular spot and it can get busy, so I advise ordering online right and picking up to skip the long lines. I lived in Colorado for six years and somehow NEVER discovered Mac Nation until I came back to visit. I am so bummed that I did not previously know about it. However, my wallet is probably okay with it. We stopped by for lunch after a hike and each ordered different macs to split (which were impossible to choose by the way.) Their menu has the largest variety of mac I've ever seen and they all sounded delicious. We ended up ordering the Sacramento, the Idaho, and some custom macs. All of them were mouthwateringly delicious. My favorite was definitely the Idaho because I have a soft spot for fried things and potatoes - AND THEN THERE'S CHEESE TOO. Ugh so great. The service here was awesome too. You grab a number and they come find you when your food is ready, which was relatively fast. The people were great and their porch was nice and relaxing even though it's near the road. If you are going on a hike in this area, I definitely recommend stopping to get your mac on.
