Great service. They open on Christmas! Talk about hard working people here! They work as fast as they can and told us they are very busy. The phone ring nonstop! Milk tea is super tasty. I didn't try the lemon tea myself but family approved. Fried rice is ok. Parking is easy.

yes- it is true. On sunday 2/22/26, this restaurant will be closing. So i had to order their Hong Kong style pork chop dish one more time. this dish has 3 pork chops on a bed of fried rice topped with a sweet tomato sauce covered in cheese. will miss this dish.

Went there for an early lunch around 11:15am on a Wednesday. We were the first customers of the day. We ordered what was pictured along with a side order of steamed white rice and an order of sui gok (soup with some cut up Napa cabbage and 8 dumplings that are comparable to wontons, but bigger). Favorite item was the beef jean mien (pan fried noodles). It was flavorful and the beef was tender. The rice was also good. Yes, steamed rice can be messed up. Anyway, the rest of the dishes were fine, but not amazing. They were good, but tasted like something was missing seasoning wise. Service was good overall. It was nice to hear the mother language being spoken. Will be back to try other dishes.

I came here over 10 years ago and the service and food has remain consistent. Today I ordered a special fried rice with Chinese sausage and mustard greens, deep fried Intestine, salt and pepper pork, and Hong Kong Milk Tea. Everything tasted good, the Salt & Pepper Pork was really salty, besides that, everything tasted great. I really like the fried rice and milk tea. If your looking for a traditional Cantonese cafe, this is the place, come check this place out!

Again, I was with friends who wanted to get cold sandwiches from the market deli next door while I was drawn to the hot food of Macao Cafe. This time, I decided to order the lamb brisket served over fat noodles! Listed for $15.99 according to the signage on the side of the front counter, it was a few bucks more than the daily lunch specials, but lamb brisket sounded sooo good. They quickly cooked and packed my food to go, complete with mini chopsticks (which I preferred over the little plastic fork). My friends and I went to find a nice picnic table near Fairytale town in nearby Land Park, so we could sit and enjoy the beautiful sunny & warm late February day. I was happy with the size of the food portion. It looked and smelled delicious! (I was so hungry that I didn't even pause to take a photo of the dish). The chunks of lamb were tender and delicious. Caution to those who aren't used to having bone fragments in stewed meats in old school Cantonese restaurants: you have to be "bone aware". (There's an indicator of authentic cuisine for ya! They crack the bones when cooking so the flavor from the marrow comes out.). The noodles were thick and chewy-delicious, and boy, they include a lot of big ginger slices in there!

I almost forgot about this place until a fellow Yelper posted some pictures. I haven't been here for at least 5+ years! While the restaurant is simple and decor is very dated,  Macau café delivers where it matters - authentic cantonese food and still reasonably priced even with inflation. The X.O. chicken stir fried ramen noodles was the best I had in Sacramento. It wasn't greasy. The ingredients are well combined and nicely seasoned leaving you wanting more. The rest of the dishes we ordered were great! I have to keep this place in my rotations. The service is a bit slow with no follow up, but I feel like that's expected at authentic Asian restaurants in general.

Oh Macau Cafe, I had high expectations for my first dining experience. But alas it fell flat. The dishes I had weren't stellar. They had a ton of menu items to choose from for dinner. Maybe a bit too much. It included dim sum, appetizers, soup, noodles, dessert, milk tea drinks, and the full compliment of standard Cantonese dishes. No Macanese dishes though. For folks anticipating Macanese cuisine, they may be disappointed. Overall not a bad place to get some cheap Cantonese eats in a no frills dining environment. I ordered two dishes, Chinese sausage with rice cakes and cabbage and the other dish was steamed chicken and bbq pork over rice. The first dish was bland. The cafe didn't offer any condiments so I couldn't jazz up the flavors a bit. The cabbage was mostly the spine, not a fan of eating that. But the chef did stir fry that at high enough heat to soften the bite of it. The rice was hard and clumpy. It didn't look or taste fresh. The bbq pork had a great flavor but was a fattier cut than I anticipated. The steamed chicken was spot on and the dipping sauce was delicious. The dishes were ok. I was with a gaggle of friends. We all ordered various dishes. It's a sit down restaurant. The dining room is basic utilitarian casual with a three large 8 -10 seater tables and the rest of the seating are mainly booths. They keep the dining room heat low, to keep warm I ate with my jacket on. The customer service was courteous but aloof. We would ask for items (more tea, napkins, to go containers) and the waitress would walk away without acknowledgement. But at times would come back with the items or not at all. However they were able to provide us separate checks which was awesome of them.

Maybe a second time will be better... My first time here and, unfortunately, I'm not impressed with the dishes we chose tonight. Hubby and I ordered from their 3/$34.99 special menu: Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs and Hot & Sour Soup which we shared with our group. The soup was a bit too sour. The 'salt & pepper' flavor were lacking big time in the chicken wings and spare ribs. I hate to say it but it was bland. Not even a pinch of nom. This doesn't mean we won't be back... in fact, I'd like to try the Combination Pan Fried Noodle next time as it is one of my favorite dishes I haven't had in awhile. Others in our group ordered the following: Chive Dumpling Meat & Fishballs Noodle Soup Steamed Chicken and BBQ Pork Over Rice Shrimp w/ Scrambled Eggs over rice Spare Ribs Chow Fun Chinese Sausage with Sticky Rice Cake Combination Pan Fried Noodle Beef Chow Fun with Sauce The restaurant has a main dining room and booths along the wall. Two servers handled the entire restaurant. Food came fast and they were able to accommodate separate checks for our group. Review #2861

Went to Sprouts to get sandwich then came here to get something to go to eat at Land Park. Jasely explained some of her favorite dishes from the menu. I wanted try something different, spaghetti. I recall being at an Asian place and they had spaghetti on menu so lets get this dish out of my brain. Spaghetti Meat Sauce It was good, not much meat a little on the sweet side. More meat and more spicy would make this better for me. It was ordered to go, but came on a plate. I asked if we can eat the Sprouts sandwich there and Jasely said it was ok. The restaurant is dated but very clean. Customer service is excellent and sincere. I will return to try something more traditional.

Another great meal at Macau. Came here for some Chinese and they didn't disappoint us. There was one other couple eating inside when we got there. The waitress said to sit where ever we wanted. We ordered wonton soup, Empress Chicken, Peking Pork, pork fried rice, All of it was super yummy. The wontons always come out way too hot to gobble down. Have to let it cool down before that. The Peking pork was so tasty and huge. I needed a knife to split it up. Loved it. Same with the chicken. I love using the green stuff they give you to add some more flavor. We had a great dinner.

    Dinner! Yum time.

We came here for a Saturday night dinner. Easy to get to and no traffic. Our dishes were: Hot and Sour soup $9.99 (Good) Beef with tofu over rice $11.99 (Not that great) Shrimp with lobster sauce over rice $13.99 (Excellent) Bbq pork over rice $11.99 (Excellent) Banana shake $4.50 (Excellent) Black jelly $2.99 (Good) Hong Kong style milk tea $4.50 (Good) Ratings above. Dated 8/22. Very good cafe with a huge menu and a plethora of tasty options. M-Thur 2 or 2:30-5:30PM they have a tea time special $6.99 items including congee! This place makes it into our rotation of Chinese eats that fits the bill. Go give them some support and enjoy a tasty, solid meal!

This restaurant is our usual go to for Chinese food. The food is consistently good, the prices are not over priced, and good sized portions. We like going here for Wonton when we crave for some. This place is a family owned restaurant and have been around for over 20 years. The staff are friendly and nice. We came here tonight, cause my husband wanted some wonton. He had just the wonton soup and I wanted wonton with noodles. The wontons are pork and shrimp. They are a pretty good size. The soup comes with some veggies. We think the wonton are pretty good here. Has good flavor. The noodles were good. Not over cooked. We also ordered a half chicken. The chicken tasted really good. Not dry. We like coming here. We like the consistency of having good Chinese food.

I have not come to Macau Cafe for many years. This is my first dinner at Macau Cafe after at least 10+ years. Because one of my favorite friends on Yelp - Vince, hosted a UYE there. The restaurant looks the same as many years ago. The dining room seems dated but clean. The only lady who works in the dining room provides the basic service. She doesn't talk a lot but gets the job done. The dishes we order are ready in less than 10-15 minutes. Very fast if you're looking for a quick meal. I have Hong Kong-style pan-fried noodles. It tasted pretty good. They're pretty generous too.

There was a challenge, as I also spoke with the front girl about, but parking is competitive. All the parking spots were taken. Some parking spots were reserved for the neighboring businesses, so I found parking on the roadside. Is it possible to expand the parking lot? It's tough to give patronage to this great business with this challenge. I suppose it's a good problem to have when many people want to come here ;)
