My sister and I met some friends a frozen Wednesday evening, discovered an inviting staff with open quite large main dining room and side bar area. The menus for drinks and dining were smaller, funny Taco Bell throws a couple ingredients into fifty options. I can see this place sorting out a couple more excellent dishes to match their tamales, enchiladas, and sushi grade tuna appetizer we shared. Fresh, flavor forward, strong notes of citrus and almonds, all worked together with the mole, salsa verde, and so much to rave on. I was uncertain with prices, quite high for the tuna which desperately needed some rice, beans, or additional density alongside the large beautifully decorated yellow dish of fish. We went there Saturday night and had a lovely time! The place is easy to find and very clean! The owner and the staff are so friendly and the place has a calm/quiet ambiance, which I love! It was our first time there and the owner was so welcoming and helped us order our food. Everything was so tasty! However, I can't stop talking about the Mexican meatballs and their poundcake/ice cream dessert! So yummy! I want to go back so I can eat those again! The red and white sangria were also so good! YASSSS, where do I start? While the interior is not exactly radiating ambiance, it's a bit stark and plain, the food and the service will absolutely justify the 5 start rating. It's always a gamble when you walk into a restaurant with a group unannounced. But I usually pick slow days, early times and arrive early to give the restaurant time to put together tables and ready themselves. I was asked if I wanted to wait at the bar area while they prepare for us. Once at the bar, I ordered a Sangria. You get a choice of red or white. I prefer the white, just saying. And it was delicious. However, she also asked me if I wanted done or two? For a minute I thought do I look like a drunk, but she explained that they do offer a Happy Hour and have a Sangria special if you order before 6pm. Two sangrias for $15 and it is regularly $12 for just one. I was on board immediately The nice thing is, that you don't get both at the same time unless that's what you prefer. They will give you one and then check back with you whenever you are ready for the second. You can also mix and match, white or red. Both are delicious btw. I ordered the Pasta Huancaina and it was so freakin' good. Didn't look like a lot at first, but it actually is quite a lot of pasta. A tower of pasta with a creamy delectable sauce, well more like a coating because it was definitely adhered to the past itself. This comes on a bed of Saltado sauce which is to die for. I wish there had been a bit more of that. And a side of delicious toasted sourdough bread on the side. Think I'll ask for untoasted next time. Alltogether I am definitely hooked on this dish now. Of my group of 12, every single person was happy with their meal and that doesn't happen very often. Also everyone expressed that they would love to come back for more. The service is attentive, efficient and an absolute delight. Large private lot outside makes parking a breeze, which is another plus. The service was exceptional. Every employee was smiling and knowledgeable and genuinely kind. The atmosphere was a little "clinical"; not very warm or inviting. The bread was excellent and the broth the meatballs came in was tasty but the meatball texture was horrible. Very mushy and soft. We left without ordering dinner because we couldn't find anything we liked on the menu. Probably one of the best restaurants to open in Indy in 2024 is Macizo, a Mexican and Peruvian place. The owners are so kind, the food is so good, and I can't stay away! I haven't tried all their menu items yet but my absolute favorites have been the Tiradito and the carnitas sandwich. I also love their table salsa macha. They also have a passion for sourdough so that's represented on the menu. If you drink try whatever milk punch cocktail is on their menu. I will sing of the praises of this place forever and always! The guacamole in their homemade sourdough bread was amazing-- and I love that they have an option to take sourdough home with you. Their focaccia bread is amazing as well! they're modern twist on the Mexican and Peruvian cuisines was so refreshing and very unique! It's a restaurant that really cannot be found in this area, and I'm so glad that they are here! The food was amazing and their sangria was so nice and light and refreshing. This is a great restaurant! The owners are super friendly and the food is delicious. It's Mexican/Peruvian cuisine and it's freshly made. I had half mole/half verde enchiladas. The portion size is good and I did not order any sides. The mole sauce is excellent as was the verde. The chicken in the enchilada was somewhat bland but the sauce made up for it. The decor is sparse and they had a slight issue with the AC system. That being said, the excellent food and service made for a very enjoyable experience. This place is fantastic! I was staying at a nearby hotel and decided to try Peruvian food. I'm so glad I did! Everything is very fresh and the presentation and flavors are spot on. Phew, where do I even begin!? I write this review with a full belly having had a very nice Peruvian fusion lunch with my friends. The music was a nice blend of Peruvian classics and not too loud. The restaurant and restrooms are immaculate and clean. Minimalist and cozy at the same time. The customer service was very personal, at first the waitress acted almost like a sommelier, providing samples of drinks that would pair well with our meals. Our entrees were fantastic. I haven't had such flavors in Indiana in a very long time. I hope this place sticks around a while. The Macha salsa was very delicious so I ordered 5oz to go. Our foodie group came to Macizo to try it out since we heard it just opened a couple weeks ago. When I first arrived at the restaurant and walked in, it was a dreary ambiance because there was no decor on the walls and it was a bland space with tables and chairs. We sat down and our server took our order. The menu had a nice selection of entrees and appetizers. I did notice we didn't receive complimentary chips and salsa when we arrived which is a standard at most Mexican restaurants, but I know they just opened up and probably cannot give away chips and salsa at this time, so it was not a big deal. I ordered the mole enchiladas which were chicken enchiladas drenched in a mole sauce. OMG!! These enchiladas were great and the mole sauce was incredible. I have never tasted a mole sauce quite like this before. It was very flavorful and made my dish even more enjoyable. The enchiladas itself had a nice texture and flavor, but the mole sauce made it even more special and delicious. I would order them again if I come back here for dinner. Everyone else loved their dishes as well. The margaritas from what people told me were ok, but not that great. The sangria is supposedly wonderful, so will have to try it the next time I am here for dinner. The overall service was slow, but the server was nice and professional. The manager/owner came out and checked on us after our meal, which was very nice and she thanked us for coming in for dinner. I would say Macizo is worth coming to check out for dinner and for the cocktails. I am hopeful that they will last at the Intech commons location for a while and be successful. What a wonderful restaurant! I'm in town on business and I love Peruvian and Mexican food. I thought I'd give them a try and I'm glad I did. The chef obviously has a good grasp of both cuisines.
