Had some great pizza and pesto lodgepoles. The Thai Pie and Buffalo Soldier were delicious. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere.

Don't go expecting quality pizza. Otherwise, probably fine. Their oven is just a big steel dude but you can still make fine pizza without a wood fired stone oven. However, they offer two crusts - thin, which comes out of the freezer, and the "original" which is allegedly hand-tossed. With thin being off the table we got the original but it wasn't a good crust. Bready, white all over, and no air bubbles in the barely crispy crust. Across 3 people's pies it was uniformly not quite done because it's too thick under the pie, while still having a disappointing edge crust. Furthermore, the "Fresh Basil and Tomato" pie had way too much cheese and too little sauce, with a miserly portion of basil. read more

The food here is great! Sadly the last 5 times I have been here the service has been awful. Our server did not bother to greet us after nearly 30 minutes being seated. She preceded to mess up our order and could not be bothered to bring the ranch we asked for. To top things off our bill was wrong and took 3 employees to correct it. This place is amazing. I went here with my family after getting off the plane. It was recommended to us by the people at the airport and it was a great choice. I had the Mackenzie pizza, thin crust, which was AMAZING! I highly recommend it. The clam chowder soup was good and the Cobb salad was okay but nothing special. read more

I met a friend for lunch at Mackenzie river today with 4 hungry kids. Immediately upon sitting we ordered lodgepoles ( bread sticks with cheese on them). It took an hour and 20 minutes to get our appetizer, almost 2 hours to get our food. Not only were we charged full price for our appetizer that took over an hour, we were over charged for our wine, which took another 15 minuets to get corrected off our bill after already sitting there for two hours. While I love the joint on Main Street, I typically get take-out (after work) for my boyfriend and me from their sister restaurant off 19th or their other sister store in Belgrade, as it's down the road from our house in Gateway. I really enjoy the Pizza here. It is not overly greasy but just right. I usually have their natural grain pizza which is a bit of a thicker, kind of "pan style" crust. I have been here at least a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. This is definitely comfort food pizza that is mouthwatering. Their salads are very good and the wine list is surprisingly good and a VERY good value. Don't hesitate to enjoy a pie on a cold snowy day! Service is also upbeat and timely. read more

I've never had cheesy bread / bread sticks called Lodgepoles, but for some reason that made them taste even better. Underwhelmed with their customer service after ordering thru EatStreet. My credit card got charged and I received an email saying our pizzas would arrive in 90-105 minutes. Two hours later, I called them and was told someone neglected to actually place my order. I thought I had placed my order online, but apparently an employee has to remember to go into an iPad and look for online orders. So, we will get our pizzas about 3-3.5 hours after we ordered and PAID for them. I was offered a discount (which I'm guessing will be paltry)....not impressed with Mackenzie River right now. I am sticking with Red Tractor Pizza thru UberEATS......they delivered our pizzas in 27 minutes from the time I ordered them, also on a Saturday night! read more

All I have to say is that this place is an oasis for the weary traveler on a 3,000 mile road trip across middle America. Fresh and local ingredients, affordable, and AMAZING. Fantastic selection of local beer focusing on Montana and Wyoming brews. A smart pizzeria with an open kitchen and friendly wait staff. It was packed on a Sunday night which is always a good sign. Went here for lunch and got an Italian Chicken Sandwich. It had the most flavorful pesto sauce with avocados and tomatoes. It was really good and toasted to perfection. I also got a house salad on the side which had this tangy house dressing which was amazing, pears to sweeten it up and grape nuts for an added crunch. Portions are generous so I only ate a 3rd of my sandwich and will make sure to warm up the rest for tomorrow. read more

Loved the gluten free pizza, loved the Server. She was busy but our drinks stayed full before we were even empty. I had gf pepperoni and loved every bite of it. I learned this place USA chain after we sat down, but apparently this is their first location, so that helped ease my eat-local conscience. Very good, interesting pizzas & related fare & quick service. A very disappointing dining experience as somebody who works in the service industry. As a serving professional, I expect a basic level of service. Instead we had a disengaged server, Liz, who could not care less about her presence or service. She was inattentive and unfriendly. Typically a server will check back frequently, but anytime we needed something, we asked the back waiter. Myself and the rest of the table have been fans of Mac River for quite some time, but this was a huge setback for our attitude towards the company as a whole. read more

I was very disappointed in the service. I came in to order a to go order as I had family in the hospital and was trying to grab lunch for those in the waiting room. there were 3 servers working on the floor- all made eye contact with me- yet NO ONE came over to see if I needed to be sat or what I needed. SO I went back to the carry out desk and stood there. Same thing. NO ONE acknowledged me. Even after making eye contact. I was very disappointed. A young bus girl named Sophia came and finally asked what I needed. You could tell she was new but she helped me more than ANYONE else in that whole building. It was 230 p.m so wasn't insanely busy. I have worked in restaurants for 17 years as hosts, serves, expos, and bus girl....and this would never be acceptable in any restaurant I have worked in. I want to thank Sophia for helping me as my family had been up at the hospital since 3 a.m with no food. So thank you to SOPHIA AND SOPHIA ONLY. No one else helped at all. I just plain love this pizza. Their crust is the perfect thickness and has amazing flavor. Add the amazing toppings, and you have a winner, every time. Then there's the rest of the menu. Great food all around. They typically have a great selection of local brews on tap as well as other great beers. The environment is clean, fun, and the staff friendly. This goes for both locations. I can't say anything bad about this place except that they don't have one in California, where I live, and that makes me sad. Truly a must eat when in Bozeman. read more

I visited this restaurant while on an extended road-trip through Montana. The restaurant had a lively, warm and friendly atmosphere. When I came in, it was absolutely packed. I ordered the beer-cheese soup and a mixed green salad. The soup was just ok, but the vinaigrette on the salad was absolutely delicious! My only complaint was with the service--the waitresses who served me seemed a little distracted and were slow in delivering my food. read more

For the first time since we have been getting Their food and we have only lived here a year and haven't had the opportunity to eat in yet because of my health issues we have had a problem There food is usually awesome and always worth the prices . The portion sizes are perfect for 2 people to share the salads and we thought we would try a dessert . I don't know what happened but we ordered the Wedge and it definitely wasn't worth the price and neither was the Carrot cake. I am really surprised . They were very good , however, they were more like children's portions. I have never had this problem in the past. The salad was pretty much two wedges of romaine lettuce. I would definitely recommend eating at Mckenzie River Pizza Oh, we also had the Sequoia Pizza and had Calamata olives added to it. It was Awesome, except a little salty. read more

We discovered this gem eight years ago and I love, love, love it! They have fantastic pizzas that are unique and their salads totally rock. We have been to several in the state and all were great. I would pick the Bozeman downtown location over the one closer to the highway since it is bigger and has better atmosphere. read more

My GF and I were visiting Bozeman for a few days and, both being vegetarian, figured that we couldn't go wrong with pizza. We were a little wary because it was very busy and loud, but glad we stuck it out. We liked it so much we ended up eating lunch there the next day. The pizza was great (save room for dessert) and so was the service. The first night it was really busy, but our server, Kate, was all over it. Our soda glasses were never empty and we she always checked in on us whenever she passed by. The next day we decided to go in and try something besides the pizza, i got the veggie lasagna, which was great and my GF got the soup, salad, bread stick combo and loved all of it. The house dressing is a spiced vinaigrette that is worth checking out. Our server, Taylor, remembered us from the night before because he sat us and brought our drinks. He was too was great. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to try more from the menu when I come back to Bozeman read more
