I've worked here 20 yrs ago and the place looks exactly the same. Same shreded carpets, chip paint and markings on its walls, same no care additude. I only stay for 3 months and I left right before the holidays (oh yeah!) I had to go and return something I purchased at another Macys and this location has the worse customer service. The Sales Assoc. didn't even lift up her head. She kind of grumped and it was it. I wonder how they can stay in business. The place is a dump. Mervyns is better! Yikes! I'm sure the downtown location is nicer due to the being in Union Square, more hectic but has a larger selection and it's cleaner. I guess this location is making some profit. Hoo boy, retail is suffering and Macy's seems to think that copying Sears' techniques of "customer service" will stem the tide. It won't. They have removed several of their cash wraps, leaving only one in the basement and even that one isn't staffed. The middle floor has at least one that I found, but it gets backed up. Might be faster to just shoplift the item, get caught and arrested and processed and through trial than to get through their current cashier setup. But I digress. Obviously understaffed, areas aren't as organized as they once were, their "sale" area is the equivalent of a bad garage sale with broken orphaned items embellished with optimistic price tags. I found an item I liked, but after 15 minutes seeking an actual cash register that existed, was staffed, and ready for me to pay I realized one of the set items was broken inside the wrapping. When I pointed it out and asked if they can discount it to allow for the broken item, this required the cashier to disappear for approximately 10 minutes. Upon his return he said he had to wait for the General Manager of the store to come and make that decision. After about 5 minutes this harried guy showed up, I asked the same question, and he said he couldn't do it, but there's one downstairs if I want to go hunting. I was confused and overwhelmed at this point he offered to sell it for the full price, otherwise it was going to some other department. The whole thing didn't make sense and I was tired, so I declined. I got a second wind after sitting down a bit and went back in to find the unbroken set he saw in the system. Didn't find it in reality. I found him and told him I'll just pay full price for the broken one since I really liked it (and had spent about an hour on this dumb project by then). He said no, now it's somewhere that he can't sell it, something about liability for broken things cutting off fingers and such. Ugh. I don't know how many months THIS Macy's has to go, but guessing it could close doors around the same time as its sister store Sears at Tanforan. read more

I don't know what happened to Macy's... they don't seem to uphold their reputation as an upscale department store I once knew. I walked into the Serramonte location and it looked like a bomb had hit it. Clothes, shoes, make-up- you name it and it was all in disheveled piles and heaps on the floor and the shelves. My mom and I walked in and almost tripped on some unending boots and boxes thrown all over the floor of the shoe department. We turned around and left. This place is a fire hazard waiting to happen. What a freakin' mess! On the way out, one of the associates in the make-up department dropped a box of lipsticks all over the floor and a couple of her co-workers started squabbling like a bunch of hens ready to peck at some corn-colored cosmetics. There was way too much unnecessary chaos going on that I found little excuse for. read more

What a joke! I ordered for curbside pickup and the worker told me one item wasn't available and can't refund me and told me to contact customer service. I did and they agreed to refund me but never did refund me. It's been almost a month and still no refund. I called customer service again this morning to ask about it and the rude lady told me that I needed to contact the store to dispute this but no matter how I tried to get help, that was her same rude response. So I contacted the store and cannot get ahold of anyone. MACYS IS STEALING MY MONEY AND WONT GIVE IT BACK. I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! read more

This is one of the worst MAC makeup counter I've been to. The people who work there (makeup artists, salespeople) are only interested in putting makeup on people and making sales or whatever. Everytime I go I only need to purchase one item but I always have to wait a long time at the counter because they are all too busy trying to make a sale and ignore you even though they see you waiting. Also, you have to go up and interrupt one of them just to get rung up. The Nordstrom MAC counter is better. read more

This store is a mess. Walked in here and it looked like a bomb went off. Can't the 5 ladies working the small male section of fragrances clean up a bit or at least fold the clothes that are spilling off the pile and onto the floor? To make matters worse, I came in here to use a coupon that I was emailed earlier today. I came in only to notice that the coupon had expired 2 days ago! Why the heck did I get the email today? Looks like their marketing department sent the wrong set of coupons to their mailing list. When I asked the lady at the counter if they would honor the coupon since the email was received today, she mentioned that she could not since it was a promotion they ran last week, but that there were other "less valuable" coupons that I could download online. I wouldn't touch MAC cosmetics with a ten foot pole because of an experience I had with a MAC consultant years ago - until I met Anthony in the Serramonte Macys MAC. He is nothing short of FANTASTIC. The fluidity and ease with which he handles any situation is absolutely amazing. The individualized attention he gives each person while maintaining excellent customer service for each person around him is astounding. Makeup is very important to me because I have an autoimmune disease and I look very, very sick because of it - to the point that if I don't wear makeup, people make comments. On my first trip, he found me a great shade that worked perfectly. Then I decided I wanted more coverage, and he found me another fantastic product. Pretty soon he had put together an entire routine for me (never once pressuring me to buy anything that didn't work flawlessly for me) that worked so incredibly well for my past-pace, on-the-go lifestyle. The entire time he listened to all of my concerns and found options that were exactly what I wanted. I was so pampered that I will not go anywhere else now. Thank you so much, Anthony!!! read more

Macy's has the worst customer service. In fact, no Customer Service. Be very careful when purchasing anything from Macy's because if anything goes wrong, you will not get a call back. I made three complaints for the same issue and have yet to receive a telephone call or acknowledgement after two months. I give Macy's a minus 20. As a soon to be ex platinum customer - I recommend don't walk, but run from Macy's, specifically the Serramonte store, and don't try to make a complaint to customer service. I'm sure they throw all complaints in the trash. Going in the store is even worse, not only are the sales people rude, but also the managers. No wonder they are having store closures. This store is a disaster. The tables that should hold folded sweaters look like the tasmanian devil flew through. Messy merchandising = not easy for the customer to make a purchase. I did however, find a robe in the mens section for the Mr. The robes that were hanging were almost too much for the circular island to handle as I swear I heard the other robes let their breath out when I pulled out my selection. The others packed in screaming "pick me, pick me - get me the F out of here". I made my way through the land mines of clothing (some on the floor!) to the register only to wait waaaaay too long and there was only one person in front of me. When the young man rang me up he looked stunned when I asked for a box as he proceeded to shove the robe into the bag like it was a cat into a carrier on the way to the vet. Remember the days when your item would be folded and wrapped in tissue and then placed in the bag? Those days are long over at this Macy's. He handed me my box - which didn't fit in the bag and as I left the store it caught the wind like a sail and lead me to my car so I could get the heck out of there. Mr. Macy would be appalled. Review for Watch Repair and Service Kiosk in Macy's. Brought in my wife's watch for a simple battery replacement for a common brand name watch. 30 mins later when I returned, I was told that I would have to come back the next day to get my watch back. Somehow during the battery change they broke off the second hand off of the watch. Ok fine, I guess these things happen. Returned the next day, was given the watch back "fixed" , and as I was walking away, I noticed that they did put the second hand back on, but it was just barely attached, dangling, not even running properly. Again I was told to come back the next day AGAIN! Simple visual check in their part would have prevent this. Wasted my time for a 2nd day!!!! Long story short it took them almost 2 weeks to fix my watch which I have brought in for a simple battery change. I asked to speak to their manager multiple times, who I was told was Jose, but he never ever called me back. Staff Kept on telling me that it would be ready the next day. I couldn't find the polo shirts and asked for help but no one knew where they were . Finally I found them on my own . Then went to buy shoes and couldn't find anyone to help me for about 15 minutes. Dealing with b***** customers during the holiday season is crazy. I don't know how you people in retail do it. Bless your hearts. I hated it there. Some of the co-workers were friendly, while the rest gave me dirty looks and looked me up and down as if I had the word "B****" on my forehead. From all the times I've come here to get my make-up done from the past to get my make-up done for prom, I never really conversed with the MUA. This rating is strictly for my recent visit, otherwise.. if I were to add the past visits, it'd have fewer stars... but onto the review.. I recently came here on May 1st for a make-up appointment, and this time around.. I had a really friendly MUA.. I don't remember her name but she's a Taurus like me since I told her it was my birthday that day.. and she is a Taurus too, and that her birthday is on May 8.. or somewhere around there. All I remember was her telling me that she was married and graduated from SFSU and that her husband wanted to move to Sacramento but she wanted to stay in San Francisco, lol. She was really nice and she let me choose colors for my make-up. I would highly recommend her, but only if I remembered her name.. lol. I usually don't like coming here cause the mall can get busy and parking is a pain! Espcially around the holiday time.. But I went maybe a month ago and I and got the best customer service by Allie! She is very friendly knows her stuff and really will take the time to show new and good products. I went today to treat myself and Allie was there being friendly as usual and sweet! I had asked her if she remembers me and she did! She helped me out once again, made me want more makeup when I knew I shouldn't even be there! She also gave me a lil makeup touch up and I loved that showed me how to use some products and tips! Of course I bought some more stuff, a lot of staff being friendly and talkative! I met Brie, she was such a sweetheart!! She was friendly and we clicked as well because the love of makeup between us girls! OMG!! The clothing departments are always a literal hot mess!! You will always find clothes on the floor, no matter which department you are in! And you have to go hunting if you want your size because sometimes the employees are not willing to look for sizes!! Employees are not happy, it is sooo obvious!! I love this MAC store! Even though I don't really shop here often, I only went to get my makeup done for my formal & I am really impressed with their costumer service. The workers greeted me right away and are very friendly. Just a heads up, I recommend that you make an appointment a week in advance because they get booked quickly but that goes for all stores. My MAC MUA was Anthony! He was so funny and made me look on fleek especially with the winged-liner (boyfriend loved them). I showed him a picture of how I wanted my makeup done and my makeup came out perfect with a dash of glitter. He used his fingers to apply some eye shadows and his touch wasn't that gentle, in make up terms he beat that face (not in a bad way) lol I wish he worded his question differently for example, he asked if I get sweaty a lot, but he could've phrased the question to "do you have oily/dry/combination skin?" I got my makeup done around 12PM and my makeup lasted the whole day & night throughout my formal from dinner to dancing. Overall, he did a great job and I would definitely recommend you to book him on your next appointment! read more

This Macy's gives me a headache. It's disorganized and cluttered to the point that a saleswoman who was trying to help me find slim fit dress pants couldn't find them herself. And all I was looking for was a plain black pair. I went in a circle once around this place and still couldn't find an organizational system. I came right when macys opened when they released the fantasy of flowers collection. I was told that they ran out of the lipstick I wanted. How could you run out of something when it's supposed to come out that day? They must be pre-selling right? Well apparently they're "not allowed" to pre-sell told the manager. The night before one of the salesperson said they won't pre-sell unless I buy 3 lipsticks. What?! If you all are gonna pull some shadiness on your customers at least train everyone to use the same lines. Also, I was able to get products before they were released during the magnetic nude release. This is specifically for the watch department. I don't know if the employees just dread working here, but the customer service sucks. Point blank. I wanted to see a watch for my boyfriend, but there was no one at that kiosk. I waited for maybe a good 3 minutes to see if an associate would show up, but nobody did. I then went down 2 kiosks because a lady was actually there. I asked her if I could see a watch at a different kiosk, and she said there should be someone there. I told her there isn't anyone there, and she did not do anything, nor did she try to help me. I then went back to the kiosk where the watch was and waited for another couple minutes. I went back to the lady associate to ask if she could get someone to help me and coincidentally, she pointed behind me and there was an associate who showed up. I think it would be nice if they at least asked customers if they needed help with anything instead of customers going up to the associate because nobody is helping them. Also, smiling and looking like you actually want to be at your job wouldn't hurt. read more

3 stars because they sell out of the limited edition new releases so fast! They get limited supply because its a smaller counter. One extra star making it 4 because i love two MA's here. Francesca (or Franny) and Raquel. Raquel does freelance also. Shes so nice she gave me her cell phone number and told me to call her if i need to get my make up done. Franny is super pretty and helpful. I go to this mac counter just bc of them. MINUS one star, making it three again bc of this one MA there. he is the only guy working there. He is usually nice and greets me. But this one time my friend wasnt happy with her purchase so she returned what she bought. He helped her. He said she couldnt return it because it was already open and used but he was going to do it this one time. Yeah right! I know damn well returning used items isnt a problem. Its skin products...if it doesnt work with your skin or to your liking you have the right to return it. I have done it before and it wasnt a problem. They didnt even ask what was wrong with it. Went here to buy a suit and the store is a complete mess. Nothing is organized and nothing matches. Suit separates are scattered across many racks and pricing is very unclear with very few sizes. I also went looking for shoes, but they had the poorest selection I have ever seen with no representatives anywhere in sight for asking about back stock or different sizes. However, when I find a lipliner shade that I like.. then specific make up spots it is! Sadly, shortly after I found my lipliner color of choice at MAC, it was discontinued. (It was Beurre) ANYWAYS, to today's visit to MAC's Serramonte location.. this was the FIRST TIME EVER that I felt welcome and comfortable shopping around MAC. It was an awesome feeling given my lack of knowledge in makeup, as well as time spent in one. Thank you miss sales associate with the blue lips!! Worst Macy's ever. Went to purchase some Christmas gifts after work and the line was long with at least 15+ people waiting while there's only one cashier. Workers are always clueless about where things are and has no knowledge of their products, oh maybe because this place is so messy as if a tornado came and left. I use to work for Macy's but not at this location. I'm glad that I didn't work at this one. This Macy's is a bit on the small side compare to a lot of Macy's in the area. The employees at this location can do better in customer service wise and also clean up the store a whole lot better. I came here a few weeks ago to look for a father's day gift for my boyfriend's dad, let me just tell you, I felt like I walked into a junk store. I had gone there when they first opened the store for the day and they didn't bother folding up the men's dress shirts from the previous night, all ties were piled up. What a disgrace!! Don't think I'll be back to this location. I'd rather drive out to San Francisco to shop at the Macy's out there. read more

This is actually a review that was overdue. It was about 2 months ago when I went to this store to return some things I bought online. Since I work 6 days a week, I don't have time to shop at stores and try on clothes. I order them online, try them and return items that don't fit. This store has a new rule which I found out that day. All returns will be at the customer service counter and not at their corresponding departments, except if they are shoes or some make up like MAC or Cllnique. Since I was returning a combination of items, I was okay with standing in line in the customer service counter. I know they close at 9pm so, I was there about 8:20pm. I was in line by then, with about 5 people in front of me. Someone named GENIE was there behind the counter. I noticed she was a little slow, but I didn't mind waiting. I work in customer service and actually worked for Macy's years ago so, I am very patient when I shop as I always make sure myself that I provide excellent customer service when I'm at work. However, this was a very traumatizing experience. When it was finally my turn, it was already about 8:45pm. She looked at my returns, made a big sigh and said "you do know we're closed at 9pm, right? Did you not have time to get here earlier?". At that point, I calmly said, "I was here at 8:20pm. She didn't stop there. She continued and questioned every return and most of them were still in their plastic bags and tags attached because I only tried them on once. She asked if I have worn them and I said yes, because I had to try them on....once. She wasn't pushy but you could tell she was irritated. Then, when she got to the make up, she goes "well you've used these so, why are you returning used make up?" I said "well, your policy states that we can try them at home and return them if it doesn't work." I specifically stated that some of them I used 2x and I had bumps on my skin, a couple of lipsticks didn't work on my skin tone or was too bright or too light and washed me out, one was drying when I tried it twice and a spray I tried on my face but was too sticky. Remember, I ordered them online so you can't really tell based on color. There were also two perfume bottles I sprayed once on me and thought I'd like the smell, but didn't stay long enough. She said "well, they will blame me for these returns" and made a big sigh (for what was like the 5th time during the whole transaction). She was also scanning them more than once as some items were not found on the system even if I used my Macy's credit card for all the returns. However, I always come prepared with receipts just in case they can't find it with the return label or my credit card. The whole time we were there (which ended at around 9:15pm), she was either sighing and complaining why I was not there earlier or why I was returning the items. I do understand that sometimes you'd like to ask about the returned items (even if policy states I can, anyway), since I'm a very patient person. But this lady, GENIE, and I will never forget her name was just borderline rude (sighed so many times I lost count) and didn't deserve to be there at all. She seemed to be unhappy with her job and I think Macy's needs to retrain her for customer service or reprimand her. She was also speaking to me in her dialect when she was "scolding" me for being there that late but I ignored her as I didn't want to be rude and be "like her". The last draw that made me decide that I will write to the VP and store Manager and write a yelp review was when she was done with the transactions. I was a few feet away looking for the last open door to leave the store when she made this loud UGGGHHH, it echoed in the entire store. Remember, this was after 9pm so, no one was there except other employees and doors were closed. That did it for me. I decided I will complain and write a review. The rest of the employees are pretty cool but for as for Genie, I will never forget how she treated me. For the first time after 15 years of shopping at Macy's and even working 3 years with them, I have never in my life been treated like this in ANY store. I was even in the top 5 employees at Macy's because I reached my goals every day and provided excellent customer service. Mind you, there were times I had to stay 20 minutes or as long as 30 minutes after my shift so, I can process returns or assist customers. I never complain. Firstly, it doesn't happen every day. Secondly, when I work, I work with my heart. If I don't like my job, I would quit instead. Lastly, I always follow policy and make sure I read them (I love research) so, there was no excuse for her to treat me that way. read more

This review is for my fav make-up artist here at MAC Macy's Daly City. Christine! She may even spell it Kristine. Either way its pronounced the same, and she is fantastic!! I booked about a week and a half in advance, and I am SO glad I did, because it seems that prom was the same weekend as my birthday party. That could of been a disaster. Christine, understood the look I was going for, and I got so many compliments! I wanted to try a different glossy lip color look, and it came out awful, and she was patient when I wanted to try another color. (2nd color came out perfect!) My heart goes out to the MAC staffers. They were running around doing customers make-up and then helping customers in between. Christine had to step away from my session to help others get rung up, or select a color that best works with their skin tone. I didn't mind at all, I was just happy Christine was helping me! My make-up lasted all night. My appointment was at 4:30, left at 5:00.. make-up stayed on till I got home at 3 AM. My eyelashes did not fall off, my eyeliner did not run, my lipstick did not bleed. Kudos! Tip your make-up artists people! (And buy more then the $50 minimum!) read more

Why did I even bother coming here. The store is a mess and they have no normal sizes. The customer service is a joke. Lines are long. It seems like the people who work here or people in corporate never been to another store in their life. I could go on but I'm going to give this as much effort as Macy's gave managing its stores.
