We were in the kitchen section. No where has price tags. No matter which pots we interested in, no one has any introduction or price tags. And definitely lack of service. Now that I don't wear suits and dress shoes to work anymore, Macy's is nearly irrelevant. I only shop here , once or twice a year, when I need to buy a few essentials (usually socks and underwear). There seem to be a number of non-sales employees roaming the various departments, but there are very few employees willing or able to perform sales transactions. Workers are always clueless about where things are and has no knowledge of their products, oh maybe because this place is so messy as if a tornado came and left. This is actually a review that was overdue. It was about 2 months ago when I went to this store to return some things I bought online. Since I work 6 days a week, I don't have time to shop at stores and try on clothes. I order them online, try them and return items that don't fit. This store has a new rule which I found out that day. All returns will be at the customer service counter and not at their corresponding departments, except if they are shoes or some make up like MAC or Cllnique. Since I was returning a combination of items, I was okay with standing in line in the customer service counter. I know they close at 9pm so, I was there about 8:20pm. I was in line by then, with about 5 people in front of me. Someone named GENIE was there behind the counter. I noticed she was a little slow, but I didn't mind waiting. I work in customer service and actually worked for Macy's years ago so, I am very patient when I shop as I always make sure myself that I provide excellent customer service when I'm at work. However, this was a very traumatizing experience. When it was finally my turn, it was already about 8:45pm. She looked at my returns, made a big sigh and said "you do know we're closed at 9pm, right? Did you not have time to get here earlier?". At that point, I calmly said, "I was here at 8:20pm. She didn't stop there. She continued and questioned every return and most of them were still in their plastic bags and tags attached because I only tried them on once. She asked if I have worn them and I said yes, because I had to try them on....once. She wasn't pushy but you could tell she was irritated. Then, when she got to the make up, she goes "well you've used these so, why are you returning used make up?" I said "well, your policy states that we can try them at home and return them if it doesn't work." I specifically stated that some of them I used 2x and I had bumps on my skin, a couple of lipsticks didn't work on my skin tone or was too bright or too light and washed me out, one was drying when I tried it twice and a spray I tried on my face but was too sticky. Remember, I ordered them online so you can't really tell based on color. There were also two perfume bottles I sprayed once on me and thought I'd like the smell, but didn't stay long enough. She said "well, they will blame me for these returns" and made a big sigh (for what was like the 5th time during the whole transaction). She was also scanning them more than once as some items were not found on the system even if I used my Macy's credit card for all the returns. However, I always come prepared with receipts just in case they can't find it with the return label or my credit card. The whole time we were there (which ended at around 9:15pm), she was either sighing and complaining why I was not there earlier or why I was returning the items. I do understand that sometimes you'd like to ask about the returned items (even if policy states I can, anyway), since I'm a very patient person. But this lady, GENIE, and I will never forget her name was just borderline rude (sighed so many times I lost count) and didn't deserve to be there at all. She seemed to be unhappy with her job and I think Macy's needs to retrain her for customer service or reprimand her. She was also speaking to me in her dialect when she was "scolding" me for being there that late but I ignored her as I didn't want to be rude and be "like her". The last draw that made me decide that I will write to the VP and store Manager and write a yelp review was when she was done with the transactions. I was a few feet away looking for the last open door to leave the store when she made this loud UGGGHHH, it echoed in the entire store. Remember, this was after 9pm so, no one was there except other employees and doors were closed. That did it for me. I decided I will complain and write a review. The rest of the employees are pretty cool but for as for Genie, I will never forget how she treated me. For the first time after 15 years of shopping at Macy's and even working 3 years with them, I have never in my life been treated like this in ANY store. I was even in the top 5 employees at Macy's because I reached my goals every day and provided excellent customer service. Mind you, there were times I had to stay 20 minutes or as long as 30 minutes after my shift so, I can process returns or assist customers. I never complain. Firstly, it doesn't happen every day. Secondly, when I work, I work with my heart. If I don't like my job, I would quit instead. Lastly, I always follow policy and make sure I read them (I love research) so, there was no excuse for her to treat me that way. read more

Why did I even bother coming here. The store is a mess and they have no normal sizes. The customer service is a joke. Lines are long. It seems like the people who work here or people in corporate never been to another store in their life. I could go on but I'm going to give this as much effort as Macy's gave managing its stores. I was on an errand in this mall one day and knew I needed to replenish my makeup. I was going to go to nordstom on my way home from this mall but opted to check out the MAC counter here at Macy's which is right at the door and hard to miss. Very helpful, Ray, makeup consultant greeted me and asked if I had any questions. He made me over and gave some great tips. Ray is awesome and would spend hundreds on makeup anyday. I wish he could do my makeup everyday, he does make it so it's easy and natural looking. :) read more

Five stars for Alyssa at the MAC inside Macy's at Serramonte! What an absolute doll and sweetheart! She truly loves what she does and you can see it in the excellent customer service she provides and makeup knowledge that she shares. Not only that, but she is very skilled at doing makeup. She did my makeup in my profile picture, and I have gotten many compliments on that picture (as well as on other makeup looks that she's done) from members of the opposite sex ;) Plus, whenever I am in her makeup chair, people strolling by often stop and watch on in admiration and ask if they too could get their makeup done. I used to shop the Seramonte Mall a lot more as a teenager, coming to Daily City from S.F. is a trip to "The Mall" now usually reserved for making my returns at a Macy*s with a parking lot. I found their cashiers in need of "managerial" permissions to make a simple "Return" - after 3 cashiers couldn't figure out how to return the item - a Cashier Manager had to come out from behind the back room and type in her 4-6 digit code on the register - The Manager then rolled her eyes at the cashiers and me - like she was God herself coming down from heaven - then slithered back under the rock where from she came from. Both the Cashier and Me said "Well isn't she cool". You know who's cool? I'm cool - I order on-line, I know the sale prices and when to bid- I get free shipping. I just returned a style of shoe your shoe department doesn't even carry - that makes me cool. If the quality of my order isn't great - I'm returning it to your department store - it's a simple transaction - it doesn't make you the manager of me. I later walked over to the handbag department. Humoring myself with all the Sale bin purses - I decided to buy a scarf on sale. I walked over to the cash register there and found the lady working the register with the "display-counter-key-bracelet" to the Coach and DB bag display counter to be ignoring me. I was in line to buy my $32 scarf. I stood there in line waiting to buy my purchase and she was more interested in talking to a another Woman about a Coach bag. Like that woman was going to lay down the deal of the century right there and then. I should have stuck around to see if she was going to actually spend the $600 bucks on the bag... or if the 2 of them were only pretending. I was only there for an impulse scarf purchase, and a pair of sneakers for my mother. The truth of the matter is the Daily City Seramonte Macy*s has a small selection of collections in any department compared to the Main San Francisco Macy*s. If I wanted to buy a Coach handbag bag I would go to the Coach store, the Coach outlet store, not a Macy*s. If I am in line at a register to buy a $32 scarf I deserve the same respect as a customer then a "bag lady". The other "nice cashier" had to open up another register and had a much sweeter personality. 2 out of 2 purchases at the Macy*s Seramonte and both register experiences were sour! At least the cashier who made my $300 clothing returns in the jewelry department, was helpful - so my 2 stars go to the new training cashiers. As for those other snobby vulture cashiers, you'd swear they were working on commission. Go apply for a job at Coach and see if they'd hire you with that attitude. Great place with parking, free parking. This Macy's is huge but the only draw back are the selections of certain clothes I was looking for was not available in this store. Otherwise the place is huge and the staff is so aggressive to lure you buy something. Way better than the Macy's in downtown SF. read more

I am loyal Macy's Customer! But now I am not anymore!!! I placed online 2 different orders(1614514336 - 03/12/2019 1717959671 - 03/07/2019). First order is ready to pick up by 03/21/19. 2nd order will arrive 03/21/19. So, I called them to ask whether to pick both up on same day like 03/22 or 03/23. Macy's serramonte transfer my call to other dept for one hr!!!! And finally I said " don't transfer, just answer my question" . That person said "No extension!" I called maycy's.com customer svc and they transferred me again to store. The store didn't even pick up the call. Well, I guess their management can do a better job staffing when Launches, Holidays and Beauty Season comes along. The past few times I tried to get attention here, the MA's are running around TRYING really had to help everyone. I actually feel sorry for them sometimes. Deira at the Dior counter was extremely helpful and knowledgable about her products. I had originally visited this Macy's in search of a Chanel counter hoping to exchange a lipstick I recently purchased. I was browsing the Dior cosmetics and Deira approached me and asked if I needed any assistance. I told her about my lipstick search and she recommended a couple products that were wonderful. I ended up making my selection and she informed me that she could do an even exchange on my current lipstick I was unhappy with for the one she tried on me! Totally awesome because I brought the wrong receipt! She was so patient and I feel like she did an awesome job as far as service and selling goes. I hope to see her again for the air flash foundation and skin care products next! read more

We went to this Macy's to return clothes bought online. First, we approached a cashier at the man's dept, and was advised to go to the Customer Service behind the suit dept, since we wanted to return man and woman clothing. When we got there, there was one older lady (she seemed nice) working behind the counter, and the line was not bad at all. Then, another lady (younger) showed up to help. When we got to the counter, this lady (Asian) greeted us with "Did you get sent here by a cashier?", I said "yes". Then, she started to complain how the regular cashiers could've done the returns instead of her, although the Customer Service Dept. handles many services, including returns. Then, she started to slam the items on the table, like she was angry and annoyed by the situation. I think she was being rude, since she still got paid by the hour doing whatever job she has to do. Plus, she was handling customers in the Customer Service Dept., which service includes returns. So, what is the big deal? Plus, it was very unprofessional to complain and take it out on the customer. If she had any gripe, she should've complained to her manager. Also the lady who works at the Clinique (if I remember the counter correctly) was rude as well. Asian older lady wearing a blue/green wig. We asked nicely where the entrance to the mall, she looked at me with her annoyed face, walked away, and said "just go straight". At the Shiseido counter, when we arrived, there was nobody working at the counter. I circled around, and asked the woman working at the Lancome counter to help. After me, there were a lot of customers coming to the counter. If this Lancome lady wasn't around, this Shiseido would lose quite a lot of sales. No wonder Macy's is loosing it, Customer Service is GONE! The one in Stonestown Mall closed (the customer service there was slightly better). The one in Union Square is still OK though not superb. If Macy's doesn't improve its customer service, customers will definitely leave. Who wants to be treated that way? read more

This store is horrible. I received a $10 coupon 2 days ago and heard stories of why I could not use it. It says good from December 15 - December 24. It is December 21. I could not get a salesperson ro even ring me up for me to buy a simple watch. Cosmetics can't ring up anything but cosmetics, no one working in jewelry except one rude man who stood there why someone was browsing the showcases. He said he wasn't allowed to ring me up while someone else was browsing??? Purses department couldn't ring me up because there was no one there. Watch department was empty of salespersons. I have been shopping at Macy's since I moved to San Francisco in 1976. For the last 10 years, I have shopped at Stonestown Macy's, but they closed a few months ago. Saturday morning I visited Macy's at Serramonte to buy a sport jacket at the men's department. I started looking around, and it was not very crowded, so I waited for a salesperson to appear. After 10 minutes, none were visible. I went to the cashier who had only two people in line. I asked it she could call a salesperson to help me and she told me that there were none available for the men's department (the suit section). I asked if she could help me when she was free, but she said she did not know anything about menswear. I asked if there was another time or day that was better to come back. She said there MIGHT be a salesperson available in the afternoon if I returned later. She was very rude. I went over to an adjacent section and found an available sales clerk at a counter. She was very nice, and I told her that I wanted to buy some high-end menswear and she said the woman there should help me and I told her about my experience. She said she would call a manager to help me. I waited 10 minutes, but no manager appeared. She said it was important for me to wait so I could tell the manager of my experience and I waited a bit more, but then decided to go elsewhere. She pleaded with me to continue to wait so I could tell the manager, but I was tired of wasting my time and told her to tell the manager that they had just lost a customer. I will never return to Macy's Serramonte, and will probably cancel my Macy's card, since there is no longer a Macy's convenient to my area. Too bad, after 42 years, Macy's has become an expensive version of a self-service store. read more

My auntie decided to buy two bags and as usual, the cashiers would always try to get you to sign up for their macys card. My auntie didnt want to of course, but after she explained how we'd get 15% if she gets approved, and another 15% off since they have this "use your card" (?) for the weekend, my auntie decided to give it a try. You would think online pick up is the way of the future. Macy's in Daly City is going backward. Online pick up line has over 40 people deep with one person working. I have been in line for over 40 minutes and still have nine people to go, 13 days before Christmas. Way to go Macy's. Not sure if everyone experiencing the same problem. Dear Macy's, I have been shopping at this location for DECADES now. It seems that you are the very last of the original Serramonte Mall occupants. PLEASE take care of your store and be nice to your customers so that corporate doesn't shut this location down as well! Im grieving the loss of Macy's at Stonestown, so don't let this happen to you! That being said, I can't stress enough that kind, helpful, friendly sales staff is what makes or breaks an establishment. It seems that for the last 3 years at least, your store is seriously lacking in this area. I am willing to pay more to be treated like a human being. So, since your stores prices are in the higher range, it would be worth your while to hire excellent staff who enjoy their work AND working with the public, not just someone who needs a job. We customers do not need high-pressure sales people, we need people who are truly helpful to assist with our purchases. Remodeling the store is not even necessary. I enjoy the nostalgic feel that I have become accustomed to over the decades. Your stores selection of clothing items is good but accessing register locations can be frustrating. MORE register locations and MORE staff would be a great addition to the shopping experience. This review is a shout-out to the two employees working at the Returns/Exchanges/pick-Up order line on the 1st floor of the Serramonte location this afternoon in the 5:00-6:pm-ish timeframe today, Dec 27th, along with one kind employee in the Luggage department. All three of these employees took the time to help research a prior purchase I made, despite long lines filled with post-holiday shoppers. I was amazed at how patient and hard-working they were as they helped each customer, and I'm sure they've each been dealing with holiday craziness for several weeks now. This is kinda surprising to me, because down in San Diego it seems like there are always 10 employees working at a time. The two employees both acknowledged me, and one got me what I came for. My make-up artist was not professional. She was distracted, not focus, and did not care at all. I had to force answers out of her on things I wanted to ask. I don't know if they get commission or something similar, but I was there to learn the skills and spend. She could have gotten me to spend a lot more. I spent close to $200 on about 6 products even though I did not like her service. But there were a lot of other make-up artists there who were helping other customers. They sounded a lot nicer and friendly. Later I found out that she was leaving the job in 2 weeks, which is probably why she acted so disinterested in helping me. If you are there to learn how to apply make-up, this is not too bad. You could tell the person that and they will ask you if you would like to do half the face while you watch them do the other half. read more

Just picked up my online order - a microwave - first red flag was the guy in the Customer Service department (a department that services customers, let's be clear). Was just staring near me while his coworker was helping another customer. I was the only one in line. I looked his way and he did not meet my eyes so I figured he had another task to attend to. Finally a lady joined me in line and was equally confused so we ask if he was open. Just nodded at us and looked down. No greeting and just mumbling barely audibly when I approached. Had to ask him to repeat himself. He gets my microwave, in a much larger box than expected and it is on a dolly. He mumbles more instructions that I don't hear and after I ask him to repeat he says receipt inside. Ok, fine. I go to roll dolly away with my huge awkwardly shaped and sufficiently heavy box. Nope, apparently not allowed to take this to my car. I proceed to muscle my way with this huge box through the men's department and parking lot to my car, having to stop and readjust/take a break multiple times. Where the f*** was ANY customer service in that ENTIRE interaction???? read more

The line is ridiculously long for online pickup. It's also doesn't help when the cashiers help customers from both lines. I waited over an hour to pick up an item. If I stood in the return line I would have been out in 30 minutes. Please just form one line if the cashiers end up working both. This way it's fair to everyone. read more

This review is for the wonderful ladies who helped me when I was picking out a pair of pumps. And the lady on the 2nd floor who sold me 2 work suits. On Tuesday night November 17 2015 , I needed a work outfit. I take a long long time trying on shoes, making decisions, and asking for a new pair of shoes. Abby, another girl with curly hair who was with her earlier, Marissa, and Jane were so patient and helpful. They knew when to ask if I needed to try on a pair of shoes. I have a wide toe area, but my size is 7 so it's hard to find pumps that fit. Abby gave me free heel grips to use. When I finally decided the shoes were too tight at the toes, she gave me 7 wide. I bought it and used several heel grips, but then the toe area became tight. I had to return it, but I received no scorn even though I stuck several heel grips in the shoes. I saw another pair of pumps on my way out, and when I tried it on, it fit better than the other pair. Marissa and Jane helped me get the new shoes, and I got a 10% discount for buying the display shoes! I never knew that before. The ladies are so helpful, nice, and patient. They deserve bonuses and they'll do a great job wherever they are! And the Lady who sold me suits 10 minutes before closing was also helpful. She tried to help me search for my card information, and she was very nice and talkative. I really appreciate that. read more

I went with my sister to MAC Serramonte Daly City to return a lipstick that was given to her in error instead of a liquid eyeliner. My sister spoke with a supervisor, Laura, and she refused to accept the item back and give her the correct product, even though it was not her fault. Very, very POOR customer service. This lady should have taken my sister's word, and not imply that my sister is some kind of thief. We have shopped many times at MAC for eyeliners before and have interacted with her in the past.
