I WILL POST MY WELL-DESERVED REVIEW OF MACY'S EVERYWHERE Macy's: Profoundly Sub-par Customer Service and Broken Processes Abound Giving one star only because the software does not allow for a negative star rating. My husband and I will never shop at Macy's again. We are cutting up our Platinum cards and we are washing our hands of Macy's. We never have the problems we have with Macy's when we shop at LLBean, Nordstrom's, JCP, or Kohl's. It seems Macy's is in a very sorry state. In the last month, I received two seperate orders where a security device was left attached to the items. In the last month and a half, I received a robe without a belt. Last Sunday I received a package that was supposed to contain two identical blazers, however, their wonderfully conscientious employees at the Woodbridge, NJ store sent just one, while still charging us for two. The store receipt showed that it was sent from their Woodbridge NJ store. The package seemed oddly small for two blazers, so I recorded opening it, thinking it would help them to improve their broken processes if my concern rang true. Sure enough, there was just one blazer inside, accompanied by a receipt showing a quantity of two was charged to our Macy's card. I sent the video, along with a detailed email, to the Escalation Lead in Cincinnati, Ohio. The response we received was that if we continue to have issues, they will "have to block us from shopping online, regardless of reasoning emails". WHAT???????? After reading her anger-inducing response, I called to complain and spoke with an offshore representative, who assured that they would expedite a replacement to me. We spent multiple thousands of dollars at Macy's last year alone, mostly through shopping online during the pandemic. Nevertheless, we hear Macy's message LOUD and CLEAR. The final straw came today when checking the tracking on the blazer I had been assured I would receive today. I saw that while a label had been created, nothing further happened, despite that the estimated delivery date indicating that it would still arrive today. I called Macy's and got a rep who looked into it and said that the blazer is no longer available, offering to credit me back the money we were charged. IT WAS AVAILABLE LAST NIGHT. I know this because I liked the blazer so much that I ordered it in multiple colors, including the same color, as late as last night. This means that from Sunday to Wednesday, nobody picked or shipped the blazer - despite the expedited shipping applied. Apparently the employees at Macy's do not comprehend or care how highly frustrating it is to pay for two of something and only receive ONE - whilst still being charged for TWO. Apparently they do not care enough to see the shipping of a "replacement" (due to an employee's carelessness) to be of a higher priority, either. I used to enjoy shopping at Macy's. That was several years ago. My husband stopped shopping at Macy's quite some time ago, actually. He sticks to Nordstrom and LLBean. And while I do still like many of the items I've purchased, I refuse to continue to put up with their broken processes and profoundly sub-par customer service. WE'RE DONE. UPDATE: Of the pending orders I have with Macy's, I have yet another issue, AGAIN with fulfillment/shipping. I have a shipment containing one blazer and four Levi's denim jackets. A label was created, but the process seems to have died after that. I called them last night and was "assured" that they would reach out to their "teams" and that my package would be shipped out within 24 hours. Well that was about 30 hours ago and still nothing has moved on it. UPS is still saying they never got the package. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE I HAD WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED REPLACEMENT BLAZER. And I want to mention that, on that earlier order, when I first called with concern about the item not having moved since the label was created, I was "assured" that it would come. It wasn't until THE DAY OF THE ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE - when it DIDN'T COME - that they acknowledged that it WOULD NOT BE COMING AND OFFERED ME A CREDIT! Less than a week later, we have yet ANOTHER INSTANCE of the same issue! That is, a label was created and then the shipment DIES. Tonight when I called, the offshore rep had the audacity to LIE to me, after offering multiple empty apologies. His lie was, "Rest assured, ma'am, the package was shipped on August 10th. But ma'am, how about you do this for me? Wait until August 17th and if you still don't have it, I can call you back and we can process a reshipment." I'm serious! YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS CRAP UP! First off, these offshore call center people are not capable of following up with a call to a customer. I REITERATED the fact that I already called UPS TWICE - yesterday AND today, and that UPS insists they never received it. When I demanded a supervisor, he kept me on hold until coming back at exactly 12:00 AM EST to advise me they were "End of the shift" and to call back tomorrow! read more

Claiming to be the "World's Largest Store," Macy's is one of the city's most well-known shopping destinations. Personally I'm not sure it is the world's largest; I've been in others that seemed equally big if not larger, but with eleven floors and a building that occupies a full city block, Macy's is quite huge. The store goes way beyond the suburban mall Macy's that dot the nation, offering clothing, housewares, accessories, furniture, gourmet foods, decorative items, jewelry, perfumes, cosmetics shoes, and more. There's even a nail salon and vision and optical center, as well as a full USPS station. And should all this shopping make you hungry, don't fret; Macy's offers eleven restaurants, offering everything from fast food to full-service fine dining. I visited Macy's more for the novelty of seeing what it was like and saying I've been there than to seriously shop. Despite my plan not to shop at Macy's, I still had a great time exploring the store. I was somewhat disappointed by the store's interior appearance. It's very nice, but did not quite live up to my expectations - probably because I spent a full afternoon exploring Marshall Field's store on State St. in Chicago a few years ago, which is one of the most beautiful stores you'll ever find. The ground floor of Macy's main building does exhibit some of the same grandeur, with marble columns, brass balcony and stairway railings, and antique light fixtures. Opened in 1902, this building seems much more unique than the adjacent, more modern 7th Avenue Building. It's worth a trip up several levels in this building to find the original wooden escalators, which still connect many of the upper floors (escalators on the lower levels are more heavily used and most have been replaced by modern equipment). Also look for the original wooden revolving doors along the building's 34th St. façade. Macy's offers a full array of services for shoppers, including a complimentary personal shopping service, visitors center with concierge, coat and package check, and consolidation service, which allows you to shop all over the store throughout the day and have your items consolidated together so that you can pay for all of them at once. Also available, and very helpful, are printed directories that you can pick up from employees working at the store's main entrances, and at the visitors center on the 34th St. balcony level. read more

They destroyed my 25-year perfect credit history over a $20 cashier error they caused -- and refused to fix it. In December 2025, I was pressured at the register to open a Macy's credit card just to get a discount. The cashier told me I could pay the full balance on the spot -- so I did. What she didn't tell me was that she miscalculated the payoff amount, leaving a $20 balance on the account. A month later I received a bill for that $20. I called Macy's credit services, explained the situation, and was assured by a representative that the matter was fully resolved and nothing was owed. I took them at their word. Then the real damage began. A month after that call, I received notification that Macy's had reported my account as delinquent to the credit bureaus -- over a $20 error that their own cashier created and their own representative told me was cleared. I have maintained a perfect payment record for over 25 years. Not one missed payment. My score was in the high 700s. Gone -- because of their mistake. I called again. They said they would "review" whether to recall the credit bureau report. Two weeks later, I received a written decision: they would not be removing the delinquency. Shortly after that, I received yet another bill -- now for $45 -- accumulated after I had already paid the balance the first time. This is a company that will pressure you into a credit card at checkout, make an error, lie to you about fixing it, tank your credit score, refuse accountability, and then keep billing you while doing nothing. I have every phone record and every piece of mail documenting all of this. I am actively exploring legal options. The card is issued through Citibank -- and dealing with them has been just as dismal. Between the two of them, this has been the single worst consumer experience of my life. Do NOT open a Macy's credit card. Ever. If a cashier offers you a discount to sign up at the register, walk away. It is not worth the risk to your credit, your time, or your sanity. Companies like this don't survive because they treat customers well -- and the way things are going for Macy's, the writing is already on the wall. read more

I know the tourists being here sucks ars. I know a big store can sometimes be overwhelming. But if you ever have time, or if you are desperately looking for a specific thing, or need to figure out what you need this is the place for you! The Service can be anywhere from a -10 to a 10. Which is NOT understandable AT ALL!!!!! Because this store in particular is like the Macy's headquarters.... Surprisingly enough the -10 GOT A JOB THERE. I have seen an employee here, talking on her phone, giving me the WTF look, then pushing me and telling her friend on the phone "Hell No White Girl Be Making a Mess!" I confronted her... because that's just me. I replied "Excuse me? White girl? Yes I'm white thanking for reminding me, I almost forgot what I look like." then she replied "Who you talking to me? You talking to me? I'm on the phone!" I got upset and figured it is not worth arguing with someone who is obviously careless about their job and life (you need a job to have a life sad but true) so I went to the nearest manager who could care less. Then I told him I'd go to another floor and see how much they cared. He got scared but I dont care, I gave him a chance. Twice is enough for me. I went upstairs complained my ars off and honestly I hate to complain it really really sucks. I know these people have bills to pay but honestly other people who WANT TO DO THEIR JOB & actually ENJOY PAYING THEIR BILLS ON TIME, who need a job sound much better than they do. So when I came back that same day a week later, the two of them were gone. Not only because of me but because of me and 15 OTHER people who had complained. That's so messed up. I hope they have changed their attitude and had a wake-up call. Aside from that, the prices range at this location because you have a VARIETYYYYY to choose from. They have ALL THE BRANDS! EVERY BRAND YOU LOVE THEY HAVE! Their sales are a steal! When you encounter a great associate, it's a match made in Shopping Heaven. If you bring your coupons and use it on brand names on sale chances are your closet will be FULLLLLL of brands! Fashionista? I think so! read more

I had a very upsetting experience at Macy's Herald Square on Saturday, March 14th around 4:15-4:30 PM that I feel needs to be addressed. After spending a few hours shopping and enjoying the store, I went to use the men's restroom on the lower level. While entering, I was aggressively approached by an employee wearing a big Jamaican hat (name on badge: James), likely a janitor--who began yelling "yo, yo, yo" at me. When I did not respond, he followed me into the restroom and continued to confront me, drawing attention from everyone inside. This was extremely embarrassing and inappropriate. When I finally acknowledged him, it became clear that he was questioning my presence in the men's restroom. After I exited, I approached him to express how humiliating the situation was. Instead of apologizing, he laughed and told me, "you look like a girl," continuing to mock me in front of another employee. This interaction was not only disrespectful, but also discriminatory and unacceptable--especially in a place like Macy's that serves such a diverse community. No customer should be made to feel unsafe or humiliated while simply using the restroom. I reported the incident to management and spoke with an executive named Donald, who apologized and stated the matter would be escalated. While I appreciate his response, I have yet to receive any follow-up. I am not seeking punitive action against any individual, but I do expect Macy's to ensure their staff are properly trained in respect, inclusion, and basic customer interaction. My husbands first visit to NY and i was telling him one of the best things about America is that they know how to treat customers, the customer is king i told him. I purchased several items from the first floor the girl behind the counter took my card without acknowledging i even existed, told me to "swipe" my card, no please, told me to sign again no please, then told me that one of the items did not have a security tab attached my husband went to get another one with the tab attached and returned it to her she took it off him without any acknowledgement or thank you. after the transaction she said she had missed an item. so again instructed me to "swipe, sign all done with a "cant be bothered attitude" i told her this may boast being the biggest department store in the world, which i think it isn't Harrods is bigger and better but her attitude stinks, she apologised and i told her she treated us both like we were dirt. I complained to the manager of that floor and she said, sorry. later that day we went shopping elsewhere and were treated just fine. we also struggled to get out because the escalators were not working. my advice go else where as you can find plenty of places where you are treated like royalty. Macy's is so over rated it boasts a lot but can't even provide the basics like good service let alone the massive range of shops like Harrods in the West Ens of London which i thought i was supposed to be "bigger and better" real let down read more

CULTURE: COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES: The Macy's department store in the Manhattan is truly an American cultural icon. It is one of the greatest commercial success stories here in New York city. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day's Parade, which is widely aired on TV news around the world is something you must see and experience in person at least once in your lifetime if you are a real New Yorker (or even for visitors and tourists). MY STORY: I personally visited the Macy's departments in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. This is truly a one-stop-shopping place (except those deep discounted 99 cents store items, of cause). I enjoyed my shopping there ALTHOUGH the quality and experience of the sales clerk of the day might significantly influence your shopping experience there (according to my Japanese & American friends). The department is super spacious BUT it is sometimes over crowded, due to its popularity. So, I highly recommend you shopping there during the week if you can, for avoiding the huge crowd of very aggressive people (a bad example of some of the New Yorkers) line up, rushing up, and arguing there. I highly recommend my friends to visit the Maycy's department stores in Manhattan or other ones at least once, especially for the Christmas holiday months. Feast your eyes during teh shopping there! Have you ever wanted to see just about everything that Macys sells? Well here in Manhattan that is where you can buy it. I believe 9 floors of everything you could possibly need and more for furnishing the house I wouldn't be surprised if in the future this Macy's started selling pre-fabricated homes. Just like an art gallery coming into this store and not knowing what you want to get can exhaust you from the amount of stimuli available within. I would suggest grabbing a map when arriving and decide what you need to go see/purchase and quickly make your way there because there is a good chance if you try to experience everything about this store in one visit you will quickly find out it wasn't the greatest idea. They don't say we make it bigger in New York for a reason and as impressive as that is, it also requires a lot of maintenance and renovations as things go in and out of style, so there is a good chance if you go here at any point during the year there will be at least one section of a floor that will not be accessible. Are you missing out on anything? There is a good chance they moved whatever was in that section somewhere else, but that is the lure of going to this store. You have to visit again and again to discover more and more about it. :) read more

Wow... just wow! This was my first time visiting this Macy's and I can definitely see why everyone says it's the biggest Macy's. I spent nearly four hours exploring every single floor, and honestly, I still feel like I could go back and discover even more.The selection is incredible you can find just about everything from clothing and shoes to accessories, beauty, and home goods. I ended up leaving with new shoes and clothes because there were so many great options to choose from. Despite how busy it was, the store was well organized, making it easy to browse each department.The staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful making the shopping experience even better. For the size of the store the service was surprisingly efficient and there were plenty of great deals throughout the different floors making it easy to find good value for your money.The sheer size can definitely feel a little overwhelming, but in the best way possible. It's an experience, not just a shopping trip. I already know I have to come back during the holiday season because I've heard the decorations are absolutely beautiful. If you're visiting New York City, this Macy's is definitely worth stopping by even if you're just there to look around. read more

What a fucking asshole!!! The WORST customer service ever!!! I went to order something online and pick it up in store since I live close to the 34th St Herald Square Macy's. Online it showed the item available in store for pick up UNTIL you get to check out. This Macy's DOES NOT participate in "pick up in store" according to customer service so I have to go there and see if I can find it (because no one knows if anything is in stock or not...I guess that is too hard to check). So I can go all the way there in that monstrosity of a store to see if they even have the item after all, pay for it, and then leave. Anyone in Manhattan knows how insane big stores are and especially that area are at any given time of day. I don't understand why we can't just purchase online and have a pick up part when your order is ready. According to customer service, if I want to do that, I have to go to Virginia to pick it up. That would probably be faster to fly to Virginia than to go through the hell of they customer service and mess of a store since everyone and their mother is in there at the same time. Ridiculous. Shocking experience at Macy's. Finally got here on a day that it wasn't chaotic or made me want to kill someone while was in there. Surprisingly was not crowded and I thank the rain that was pouring outside, maybe that's why there weren't many tourists around. I came here with a plan and purpose and that was to buy some working shoes and get out as soon as possible. I requested to try two pairs that I liked; and the sales person dropped one of the pairs in a chair and said to me "that' all we got" and walked away, I laughed because I thought of no other things to do. I asked a second salesman to help me find another pair, and that one told me "I saw someone helped you, why don't you ask him; we work for commission here" After insisting that he should get me the pair, he finally decided to and get them. I'm not sure I understood; if they work on commission wouldn't they want to help people to buy stuff and run and get the shoes that potentially could make their paycheck? I'm not getting it... Anyway, got a nice pair for half of the price, and a half empty Macy's and that's why is the three stars. Based on the service it would probably haven't even get one. read more

I went to the jewelry department to choosing a gift for my mom for the upcoming mother's day. The staff there wan'st nice to me and my friend When we asked them to show us some of necklaces, they were doing it with annoying face and the first word she told us was the price of the necklace when she took the necklace out. Hello!!! I have money to purchase it, is this your service for your customers???? Moreover, we went to another station of the same department, we were standing there for half hour and no staff took care of us, and they even took care of customers after us. I know me and my friend are young, but we have money and we deserve a better customer service. After all, I purchased a necklace on macy's website, and picked it up on the same location because it's close to my work, otherwise, I would not chose this location to pick up. However, the lady who helped me with my pick up was really nice, and she helped me opened up macy's card in order to get an extra 20% off. I was very satisfied with the necklace and her service. I think the management of the jewelry needs to improve the overall service. read more

Purchased wrong items at Macys online using a Macy's Gift Card. Items wrong sizes. Customer service tells me to place new order for exchange using my Macy's credit card account and they will then credit this account for exchange. Macy's now incorrectly ships two replacement orders when they receive the returned items. After 45 Days of waiting and contacting Macy's numerous times, Macy's has still been unable to correct charges on my credit card account, and Macy's has charged a late fee as well for not paying my credit card account on time for the incorrect charges to the account. Macy's has been unable to track my accounts and purchases. All the items have been returned, and there still has not been a full credit to my Macy's credit card account or the Gift card. Macy's representatives are unable to identify any problems and dismissed my complaints as well. No confidence with Macy's online or customer service. Used Amazon several times for returns and never a single problem. Macy's creates a problem on my first purchase ever. Macy's has not been a good experience for me. Never again. read more

Love this department store. I find being a rewarding Star Elite Card Member very awarding. They had send me a birthday card with a $10 gift. So I had decided to to take a trip, so I can use my gift they sent me . The customer service is just truly world class! All the associates are very friendly and always smiling. I was their today and I came cross there brand new floor named one-below. It used to be the former cellar. So my experiences today is all about their new floor. At the new one below level, I loved getting my hair washed & blown out at oneblowdrybar. The customer service there is so macy's worthy. The lounge there is spectacular! I enjoyed getting lunch at Macy's Chef Street NYC which are food trucks/food court. I think that's the best way of describing it frankly. I loved not waiting on a long endless line for the woman's restroom. I have to say that it was very clean but it did smell a tad funky. The Benefit brow bar is great! I was luck enough that they were able to squeeze me. So I'm very happy, that I've uncover this hidden gem inside Macy's. read more

Yeah so I love Macy's, initially I wouldn't have had something nice to say but I will, due to my current experience with a more seasoned and professional manager. I was looking some luggage for my massage equipment and found the cutest classiest wheely bag luggage. If I didnt want to be bothered I wheeled it and if I didnt feel like pulling it along I could carry it over my shoulder and it still looked fabulous. Only thing it was the last one left. The bottom of it looked a mess as though someone had returned it and it wasn't stable so I brought it back and had to endure a clueless mook of a manager. Thanks to my tenancity and respect for my hard earned dollar I was persistant and found a manager who respected my complaints and assisted me time and time again. Little does he know that his consistency has made me a LOYAL customer. I will see him next week so I will list his name as I wish him the best ever, no really I do! He has a great attitude.....Lets me know that great customer service still exists! read more
