We went there on a Thursday which is their night they invite other breweries in to showcase their beers. At 1700 hrs people were holding tables for their friends and families. I mean we saw appetizers in front of bar stools with no one there, 30 minutes later a couple shows up and sits at those seats. They never ate the very cold apps, but the cost of those apps saved them a seat for the beer event. Enough about the weird things people do to save a seat. We had a Bacon Cheese Burger with Texas Style Poutine and an order of Fried Mushrooms. The menu says they cook burgers at Medium. I always order burgers cooked to Medium. It came more Medium Rare, I always cook my burgers on the grill to Medium Rare, I don't trust the restaurants. So it's under cooked but cooked the way I would cook it at home. No worries(unless I get sick) lol. Good char with nice flavor in the beef. Poutine fries in Texas? I prefer the Canadian(original) Poutine. Fried Mushrooms were the real deal. Nice lite(yes lite) batter. I did a flight of Mad Pecker Beers and my wife and I did not like any of them. That said I did like both Kunstler beers we had. Although I have not found a beer they make that I like I would certainly eat there again and try more beers. read more

Been by twice. Good selection of brew. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Would give it 4 stars but waiting through the rotation of brew listings on the TV monitor is annoying. Maybe get two TV's one for Texas only brew and one for everything else. A discount on select Texas or San Antonio brew would be nice not just for Spurs games. Will definitely be back once they start serving their brew and filling growlers. Have not eaten there yet but plan to. The house made pecan coffee porter is by far one of the best beers I have ever tasted. The brewer got the taste between sweet, coffee, pecan without all the acidity which I'm sure was not easy feat. The bartender was new but very willing to learn anything since it was our first time being there. He was outgoing and had the patience to let me try most of the beers before I made my decision. Service here wasn't great. It looked like our bartender was our waiter. Also, If you're at a table instead of the bar, they don't have a drink menu so you have to walk to the bar to See what beers they have. We ordered a flight- mad pecker brewing only has four beers that are theirs when we visited. Lots of IPAs. Not a lot of lagers or pilsners. Also, we visited on glass night and they ran out of he specialty beer... The pizza is made with the leftover wheat/yeast from brewing, so that's cool. The pizza was pretty good. We split (half and half) of the Hawaiian pizza and pepperoni and mushroom. The spicy ranch is delicious! I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but decided to go with a 3 because I feel like they have a lot of potential, but have some work to do as of right now. read more

It's an okay bar/restaurant. Nothing special in my opinion. Unless you are at the bar service is few and far between. I enjoyed going on a "special" night where a local brewery was running a special setup. I've been twice and don't think I'll be going back again. The food was delicious I had the fried pickles and wings and they were both spot on. The reason for the three stars is simply because the kitchen is not accommodating. I was going to order 12 wings and I asked if I could do 6 Parmesan garlic and 6 of another flavor the waitress said they couldn't and they all had to be the same sauce. I thought this was weird because they sell 6 piece wings as well so I just decided to order 6. I then asked if I could get all flats and that I didn't mind if there was an up charge. The waitress walked over to the kitchen and then came back and said they can't do all flats. My friend ordered a burger and asked if she could upgrade to fried pickles instead of fries and again the kitchen said no. The food was ok, nothing great. The beer selection is very good but their beers are average. I believe they are still working out the kinks of going from small to large batches. Nothing for or against making this your weekly routine for a game. What pushed their ratings down was the service. This little white man resembling a leprechaun kept making loud comments about killing the president from behind the bar. He clearly did not understand clientele are diverse and he was rather loud. He continued about impeachment, migrating to Mexico, and other edgy comments. What really annoyed me was I waited a long time to fill growlers and he just kept talking away rather than serve and let me pay. I happened to stumble upon Mad Pecker Brewing while lost in San Antonio and it turned out to be very lucky for me. Mad Pecker is a small batch brewery that turns out some of the best beer I've ever had. Started out with Owen's Brett beer and was impressed with the sour aspect as it was sour but not too tart. Plenty of flavor robust with Brettanomyces but not overbearing. A good balance. Moved on to the Whirlwind Thru Citra and was again impressed with a delicious beer that had great flavor and balance. Could not identify the citra hops with any I've had in San Diego which normally come off as Valencia orange. I believe I finished off with the 420 Strain Mango which was astounding in aromatics and flavor. At this point it starts to get foggy! This is a fantastic small batch local brewery that excels in craftsmanship and service. As a native of California's beer capital (San Diego) I highly recommend this jewel in San Antonio. So. Freakin. Awesome. I haven't been back to San Antonio since I Graduated a few years ago, So most of the hidden gems like Mad Pecker are off my radar. I sat at the bar with my Bearded brotha Mike MCing my experience. This man knows his beer! We traded quips back and forth about the explosion of the craft brew scene in san Antonio while he helped me pair a couple of the house brews (smaller selection hope they keep experimenting) with some Buffalo wings since I wasn't hungry enough for a burger (superb btw def reccomend). I noticed the chalkboard up on the wall said they serve pitchers and bucket of beer so when next I roll through town I hope to put together a group and head that way. tl:dr Mike is awesome, Phenom service, food and brews are on point, decent price, def worth a visit read more

The BEST staff! Open to customer feedback. Aftet totally enjoying the fresh St Arnolds seasonal Märtzen (OMG), I asked if l could speak with the brew meister. Mike (assistant) came over and spent valuable time today discussing new recipes and current processes. I'm telling you: these guys are on the verge of totally busting out to the next level of beer & brewpub Nirvana. They remind me of experiences I had when I lived in Colorado during the "early years" with the likes of monsters like Left Hand, RMBC, and O'dells....good folks who want to be the best at what they do, constantly working to improve their processes and products, expanding and growing - yet down rubbing shoulders with their customers - without any pretension. I was happy that they'd added a delicious brown ale to their rotation and that they've begun exploring expansions to their (already wonderful) food offerings. On food: today I had the pulled pork sandwich for the first time...very delicious. I highly recommend you try or continue coming to see what these guys are doing here. Made a quick stop here for a beer after a horse ride. With so many local breweries, competition is tough and a place like this may have gotten more stars if it weren't adjacent to so many places that, quite honestly, do it better. The location itself was dark and a just a bit dingy, located in a small strip of shops. It almost looked like they were going for a kind of dive bar atmosphere, but with no pool tables, dart boards, and only a couple small tvs and tables it just appeared like a cheap dance club no one goes to. Their brews were just ok - there are much better to be had in the arts district or the Pearl brewery area. Their one saving grace was the friendly waitstaff, needless to say, i will most likely not be returning. read more

Cute, clean little dive bar. Was a bit concerned when we first walked in as the bar was nearly empty at 9pm on a Saturday night. But the food was decent. We got the fries with beer cheese and a pepperoni pizza. Drinks on tap were tasty. The server was friendly and checked on us a few times. Easily one of our favorite places. They have wonderful food at fair prices, and sell and brew a wide variety of craft beers. They also have friendly wait staff and some of the best wings in the city. Their Bitter Soul ESB pairs perfectly with their BBQ wings, and their pizza is to die for. read more
