I had a floor drain in the basement backing up so I thought I would rent a power rodder and do it myself. It was then that I realized that I had a much bigger problem and couldn't handle it. I live in a 6 unit (3 story) condo building on the north side. Ran into an issue with a backup of the main sewer line running to the street. We were getting overflow pushed back through where the gutter runs into the downspout that leads to the sewer line. Sewage was backflowing onto our back sidewalk and parking area in the back of our building. I called Madden sewer and no kidding they were out in 25 minutes. This was a Saturday morning. I described the situation over the phone and they quoted me a more than fair price. The guy I spoke with could sense my desire to get a resolution to my issue immediately and worked to get someone out immediately. Sean the owner, personally came out and performed the work. Nothing like the owner of a organization breaking some sweat of his own! These guys take pride in their work and do a great job, beyond the fact that they know what their doing. There was no hard sell on sump pumps or johnson rods... just performed the solid work that I needed done (sewer rodding) in a quick and efficient manner. Prompt. Honest. Super clean. Nobody is thrilled to spend money on a sewer repair, but they actually ended up saving me money. They did everything they said they would, spent a lot of time showing me things and explaining what they were doing, and left everything in ship shape when they were done. They completely debunked some things that another awful basement repair company tried to sell me, and showed me with a camera and completed sewer line work. I called them Tuesday to ask about the Private Drain Program with the city. I talked to Sean and he set it up for Thursday (yesterday). The guys showed up on time and told me the procedure (repeated actually). They rod my sewer line and stick a camera in and see what's what. A rodding is a rodding so 3 stars for that. The camera goes in 62 ft, supposedly not all the way past the sidewalk whereby the inspector tells me it's a "maintenance issue.' Hmmmm, like I never heard of Chicago kickbacks? Ok fine, so the inspector disappears. Next the plumber starts telling me that I have a lot of grease on my pipe near the sidewalk. Wait he can only get it out by digging up my front. Huh? Really? Oh, it's going to cost me 3200 bucks? Then he tells me the catch basin needs to be fixed at $2700 but he did me a solid and got me a $400 dollar discount when he called the boss. Funny, the last plumber who rodded my drain didn't mention either. The service and speed is real good, but the upsell is too outrageous for words. I expect a little "push" on some things but 10 times the price of a rodding? Ouch! read more

Madden came out a couple of weeks ago to rod my sewer line, the main pipe and clean the cistern. Well, apparently, the cistern is deeper and skinnier than the average (old house) so they needed a special piece of equipment or a smaller guy. He took a good look at it though and said it could wait till next time and gave me a discount. They were fast and professional and I feel good knowing that tree roots are not obstructing the sewer line. Oh, check their website to see if they are running a special. read more

Highly disappointed in their service and not being accountable. I scheduled an appointment and they stated that they could come out and clean a catch basin. This morning there was no call received when they did not show up at their scheduled time. I just called and they stated they called yesterday and left a message to reschedule appointment. I really have no idea who they called because on this line their is no voicemail. I am in a job where I do not have the luxury of not following up and not going to appointments. I believe follow up and following through is critical in any business. Highly disappointed in their service and I would not give them a one star even. Then the representative states that they cannot come out for another 2 weeks. That is absolutely ridiculous!! read more

Couldn't be happier. Had major basement flooding issues 2 years in a row with the "100 year storms". They converted our flood control to an overhead which led to us finding out what terrible ideas the previous owners had with the plumbing. They kept at it until it was solved and never asked for a payment or anything until we were happy. They ended up digging up parts of the basement a few times until it was mitigated. The next year, the next bad storm we had seepage, luckily before we finished the basement. At the time, we were getting our lawn/patio drainage fixed and Shaun worked around our plan to redo the yard and concrete and gave us a good deal on putting in drain tile over the winter and adding another pit just for that. The big storm on 6/30/2014 put it to the test and we didn't get a drop. Wouldn't consider calling anybody else and recommend them to all my neighbors that may have water issues. read more

I never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review for a sewer company, but then again I never expected to have a major sewer issue in my home. I don't think anyone does. But should this happen to you, the first thing to do is call Madden Sewer. I HIGHLY recommend them. They were so friendly, helpful, fair, reasonably priced and explained things so that I could understand what was going on underneath my house. Our problem was complicated and lasted over the course of about 2 weeks. The team at Madden was arrived promptly every day and made special arrangements to come and help me out on a Friday (even though their schedule was packed that day) so that my family would not be without plubming over the weekend. I was incredibly grateful to them for squeezing us in that day. Shaun and Kevin are awesome! They know what they are doing and they understand the importance of customer service.
