I have heard so many amazing things about this restaurant and it really lived up to the hype. They serve non-traditional Korean food out of a cozy store front. The restaurant is set up almost like a little market where you can grab drinks and order food at the counter before finding a table. Service was super friendly but they were understandably busy and kind of hard to get a hold of if you needed anything. Water is self-serve which adds to the chaos. I tried the bibimbap with bulgogi as well as the kimchi pancake and all were delicious! I especially loved the crispy kale in the bibimbap and the jalapeño chimichurri which packed some good heat. I went here for lunch on Sunday around 12pm and was fairly busy, but I was able to immediately get a solo diner seat at the counter overlooking the kitchen. I ordered the bulgogi ribeye bop bowl for a more substantial meal, as it is more carb focused compared to the bibimbap which is more veggie focused. The bop bowl had a combination of japchae and sizzling rice with some vegetables, and I opted for their hot bop sauce which has gochujang. Overall, the dish is fairly solid, but the prices of this place have kept increasing way too quickly. I bookmarked this place expecting to spend about $20, but was sticker shocked to pay $27 after tax before tip by the time I decided to check this place out today. The plus side is that the portions are fairly large and the sizzling rice is so good. The bulgogi could be a bit more juicy and tender at this price point. The misses of the dish were the egg was overcooked (sunny side up should still have some runny yolk) and the sauce was way too salty. It's an aesthetic and delicious bowl but I don't see myself coming back soon given how expensive a bowl can get, especially in a fast casual setting. read more

Stopped by during the Fremont Solstice Parade - it's super quick and convenient! Incredibly so! The food is delicious, flavorful and fresh, a well balanced mix. The kimbap was delicious and refreshing- the serving is smaller than I usually see for kimbap but I'd say the freshness/quality is higher (and honestly where can you find a balanced lil lunch for round $5 in Fremont?). It's popular and usually pretty packed, but each time I've come here, we were still able to get a table with a party of 3-4 with little or no wait. If you have a larger party, it might be a longer wait as it is a smaller space. The staff is very sweet and happy to help recommend menu items. The food was decent tasting but on the expensive side compared to other Korean restaurants with entrees almost $20. However, they had good attention to detail in presentation, and the artistic charm in the restaurant's decor also reflects in the food presentation. We ordered the Daily Bento with grilled garlic chicken, which was on the dry side -- the bulgolgi seemed like a better protein option. We loved the tempura kale from the Daily Bento -- it was tasty and fun to crunch on. We also got the Stone Pot Bopbowl with bulgolgi (comes with japchae noodles and mixed veggies) which was also decent though could have used more sauce. The shakerto was a frothy espresso drink with condensed milk, cream, and milk shaken over ice. You can grab items to go from the deli, or stay and dine in. There are mainly tables for two, but also some bar seats and a larger table for 4-5 people. I didn't realize they also serve coffee drinks too! They're limited staff as they're pretty new (about 3 weeks) so we had to wait a bit to order our food as the same employee taking our order was also making the coffee drinks. Didn't mind waiting at all as I studied the menu, the deli offerings, and having a tough time deciding what to order since it all sounded great. The Daily Plate was recommended as there was a bit of everything to try, including a small tofu soup. For a late lunch, between two people, we opted for that, two chickpea croquettes, and a pork rib. Everything was so delicious and my favorite, surprisingly, had to be the lentil salad - so minty, lemon-y, and refreshing. Also special shoutout to the kale tempura! Soooo yummy. It seems like the deli offerings and Daily Plate change often (hence "Daily") but the two bibimbap offerings seem consistent. There are multiple protein options to choose from, and while they both come in a hot stone bowl so the rice gets crispy, one is more veggie heavy (Mom's Medley) vs. the heartier option (Stone Pot Bop). TLDR; wait staff treated my partner and I like we were children, and we will never come back here. Used to love this spot but being treated like I'm in idiot when asking simple questions makes any restaurant a "no" in my book. I am literally so sad to write this review, because I absolutely LOVE the food here (I usually take everyone from out of town here!) but the service I received here was so rude that I feel like I have to warn people. My partner and I came in for dinner for some comfort after I found out my uncle died. It was packed inside but the communal tables outside had space for a party of 2. We ordered, said we would be dining in, and asked the person at the counter if we could sit outside--they very rudely told us that the outside tables were only for groups of three, and asked who told us we could sit there in a very demeaning tone. We said we saw a couple leave and assumed that another group of two could be sat there. Counter person told us "don't make assumptions about where you're allowed to sit" and told us to find a communal table inside. I asked which tables were communal and, instead of showing us or even pointing them out (which would have been fine, I understand that it was busy!), the person at the counter very rudely explained what the word "communal" meant to me, as if I was a preschooler, breaking the word down and using the definition. This person has served me at Made In House many times before and I know this isn't his usual tone or demeanor when serving here--I also know when I'm being talked down to. My partner and I got our food to go and agreed that, even though it was delicious, we will not be going back somewhere that we are treated like idiots and talked down to by wait staff. My partner is a Latino in Seattle and is discriminated against in plenty of businesses, we were hopeful this wouldn't be one of them especially since they are POC owned. As a woman I was also severely disappointed that the male-presenting staff person helping us would talk down to me so rudely. I'm used to this treatment when we are in rural Washington, but was hoping Made In House would treat us better :( Again, I used to love this place, I've been 20+ times and it is one of the only restaurants that I'd say is a must-try for visitors. I've worked in food service and understand what it's like to be stretched thin and have hours left of a busy dinner service. But never, never, never have I gone out of my way to demean and humiliate customers. I literally had food thrown at me when I was a server and still didn't treat people this bad lol. We couldn't figure out if the counter person was having a horrible time or wasn't okay with serving an interracial couple (which happens more than you'd think in this day and age!), but we did figure out that we won't be back here. read more
