This is our new go-to place in Seattle. We live in NE Seattle so it is a little bit of a drive for us over to the Fremont location, but it is so worth it!!! And we now come at least once a week. My wife who is Korean swears this is the best Korean restaurant in the entire Seattle area. The menu is fairly simple, but everything is just fantastic - you can't go wrong with anything. We typically order one of the bibimbop bowls (either with tofu or bulgogi), or the bibimpop salad with miso dressing. Their gimbap rolls, wings and pageon are also worth getting to accompany your meal. Finally, I can't say enough about the service. Folks (like Min) are super friendly and greet us by name when we walk in the door. The service is also quite fast so even if there's a line, you never have to wait long. Post COVID the restaurant industry has become ultra-dramatic and awful assumptive. I have worked in this industry for years in different roles, and am embarrassed at some of the antics. In a spot where you walk up, order at the counter, seat yourself, and where you serve yourself your own water...you cannot force people to "tip a minimum of 15% up to 25%" after they've already ordered. Extremely pretentious! You are trying to build a following and not go for the big money grab. The food was good and the atmosphere was decent, so I would've put this on as a regular stop if I didn't feel put on the spot to tip a minimum. Great lunch spot in Fremont. Ate outside on the picnic tables, ordered the daily bento with spicy tofu. This little Korean Cafe is a great lunch spot with traditional and experimental Korean dishes, but with a slightly Americanized feel, at a slightly increased price point. They also have great pastries that come from local bakeries so there are lots of different options for everyone! Made in House chose the right setting for their restaurant. Seattle is the perfect place to grab a hot stone dish on a rainy night. And this place is doing hot stone dishes right. All ingredients are fresh. All flavors are there. They have a number of sauces you can choose from to make their simple menu different every time (by combining). My only qualm is that their gluten free sauces aren't quite ready yet. I ate mine with the glutenous sauce, and didn't feel great afterward, but I think it was still worth trying. My partner got hers dry and it was still nice, but I definitely think bimbimbap needs a sauce to make it fantastic. But I'll be back when the gf sauces are ready. read more

Wow, what a great addition to the neighborhood! Thanks to a fortuitously timed Seattle Met email and a nefessary trip into the office, I happened to have the chance to try Made in House on their opening day - and I'm totally blown away. I've traveled extensively in Asia, and one of the things I miss the most in the US is the concept of the "ekiben", or train station bento - the ability to get a fancy, gourmet takeaway meal to eat on the train or at home. Even convenience stores offer solid takes on the idea. Made in House offers an authentically PNW take on this, with bibimbap and gimbap loaded with fresh seasonable vegetables and amped up to 11 with elevated techniques and ingredients. My bibimbap came with carrots, cabbage, peas, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and more - as well as perfectly marinated and cooked steak. The gimbap was tofu based and equally awesome - either would have been enough for a full meal. The rice in both was delightful, reminding me of the best boutique onigiri I've enjoyed abroad. I'd love to see these items available for delivery soon once the opening is smoothly complete! That said, I think they have a great indoor dining space too, and while I loved enjoying my meal cold at home, stone pot Bibimbap with crispy rice would be the perfect winter comfort food. I didn't get a chance to look closely, but I did see some interesting looking wine choices as well, so I'm excited to return and see what they are offering in that category. Maybe soju cocktails could eventually come the liquor license is fully sorted? I think my only feedback is that I want more! The gimbap is so good I'd like to see onigiri someday with the same ingredients, and I want a takeout version of the sampler that is available for dine in (which may just have been sold out when I visited). But honestly you could just take the bibimbap I just ate and put it in the replicator and I'd be good for life. Be aware, to start with Made in House is only open certain days of the week, so check before visiting. Hopefully once more area offices reopen, they will be able to go 7 days a week! I looked over this restaurant for the first 2 months I lived in Fremont. This unassuming gem is one of the best places I've tried in Seattle. My favorite meal is the Daily Bento with spicy pork (bulgogi is a close second). It's such a well-balanced medley of flavors, and it fills me up for 2 meals. I also love the spam kimbap, millionaire bar, and kimchi rice. The kimbap and desserts sell out quickly, so try visiting earlier in the week (only open Wed - Sun for lunch) to have the widest selection. read more
