Servus! We have returned again to the Madfish Grill. We were greeted by a couple of young Hosts who helped us end up at the table of my wife's choice on their outdoor patio. Our very friendly server got us going with drinks. I had checked out the menu online and knew what I wanted (Pasta Martinique), until I saw their Oktoberfest menu. Scrap my first choice, I'm having Beer Brats with both German potato salad and Sauerkraut, and Charred Brussel Sprouts. But first, I was also looking forward to their Mangospacho, and that was excellent. Like Gazpacho soup but sweeter, this refreshing cool soup was full of texture and flavor. I love cold soups and I loved this Mangospacho. On to the main course. I found the two Bratwurst rather pedestrian, not picking up on anything even subtle that separates the various types of this German staple. They were still fine, dense, and I enjoyed them with their homemade mustard. The other items on the plate were full of flavor. Surprisingly to me was just how good the Brussel sprouts were. This limited time menu is only available through October, I think. I say "I think", because I learned they still make some dishes no longer listed on the menu, like Pasta Martinique was not on their current menu. I am thrilled to find this restaurant near where we live- amazing food and service! Our server, Kevin, was delightful and went the extra mile to ensure we knew what we were getting and that we were taken care of. With a table of three adults and four kids, he treated us all with respect and attentiveness. The kids menu- it's the most robust one I've ever seen- for once kids have more than just meat and cheese to eat- they could choose from pasta and fish and chips as well as salmon and filet mignon-at lower prices- super impressive! On 3/2, 7 of us had dinner at this restaurant. Only one person liked what they ordered and that was a salad. No one's food was hot, some had to be reheated. The catfish was a thin fish patty and the sauces were non existent . The Mardi Grad menu is a joke. They clearly don't know how to make any of the items. Very disappointing and we all agreed we won't be back. The service and servers were helpful and no complaints from us on that at least. read more

My mother and I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich, which was delicious. It was served on a bun That was very tasty. My husband had their burger and he really enjoyed it. I haven't been here in years, and didn't like it the first two times I went. We were doing happy hours and got a booth at the bar. The waiter came over while I waited for my guests. I walked towards the bathrooms and the smell was so bad I had to hold my breath, like the entire are by the bathroom. I love their Wedge salad, their wings, the coconut chicken with the jasmine rice, their burger deals and their cocktails. This is a local spot with daily specials, strong seafood based menu, but for those of us that are landlovers, there is always something on the menu too. There is outdoor seating, no view, just covered and perfect for your dog to sit with you. Indoor bar area has some high-tops, that are usually full. Reservations is always recommended for this place gets busy quick. Not a kid friendly place, this is more of a couples place, or girls night out for dinner and drinks. After hearing good reviews on this place we were a tad disappointed when we tried it a while back. However, I will admit we may have ordered the wrong things. Our server said she was new to the area and didn't have much recommendations. I ordered off the temporary Chinese menu which was a big mistake as the food was bland and I couldn't even eat it. My husband felt his food was okay. I think if we went back and tried other items we may be able to give a higher rating. Rude manager and some of the servers as well, although some servers are very good. I reserved a table by the bar, but when we got there they placed us on the farthest corner table on the other side. The manager's answer: It was not me that got your reservation. Wow, really? Previous to that, we were overcharged for drinks, and the server said: "I'll take care of you the next time you come." Are they serious? The food is okay, not cheap and nothing extraordinary besides the seasoning dip with olive oil. It is out of this world, but sometimes they "forget" to serve even on request. Spent $100 on dinner for two and the food was shocking. I'd been here before for lunch and had a good meal so I thought it would be a nice spot for a date. Couldn't have been more wrong. They've currently got a special Mardi Gras menu for the month of February. We decided to order the charbroiled oysters ($16) and the fried oyster po boy off of it. Let me preface the experience by saying that these two items are possibly the two worst restaurant dishes I've ever been served. I'd have been EMBARRASSED to have those leave my kitchen. We were served our charbroiled oysters as an appetizer and immediately after seeing them we knew that we'd been had. Five oyster shells with penny......PENNY sized oysters and more fried bread crumbs than we knew what to do with. There was no mixture of butter and garlic inside the shells like we'd been led to believe. They were simply dreadful. What little we were able to scrap off of the shell would have fit onto a single tablespoon. If that weren't bad enough, they were pretty much rubber in texture and had no discernible flavor whatsoever. I'm almost convinced that they were microwaved. There really was not any indication that they'd been charbroiled. Let's move on to the fried oyster po boy. I wish we'd taken a picture of it. The saddest little "fried" oysters you've ever seen. I'm fairly certain these came pre-breaded out of a cardboard box that may or may not have had the word "SeaPak"on it. They were 80% breading and came out nearly cold. They were clearly warmed in an oven and not deep fried. The sandwich was missing the remoulade that the menu promised. So it was a completely dry hoagie with some iceberg lettuce, overripe tomatoes and the worst oysters conceivable. The "Parmesan truffle" French fry upgrade was $2 and there was not even a hint of truffle in the fries or the aioli they served us. Still confused about that one. We also ordered their seafood alfredo, which at $30 boasted scallops, shrimp and lobster tail meat. Now when you have a menu item at $30 that comes with scallops, people are going to be expecting full sized sea scallops, preferably with a nice sear on each side. Two full sized sea scallops would've been fine at that price range. What was actually served? Bay scallops. Those tiny, smaller-than-a-dime sized scallops that you can buy at the store for $7/bag. The lobster tail meat's texture was just awful. Another cheap option to save the house some money. The shrimp were okay. The sauce was plain Jane with not a single grain of pepper in it. I've really not got anything nice to say about this dish. Finally, I should mention that we did order their jerk glazed chicken wings and we both enjoyed them. The presentation was a bit whacky and they could've been served hotter but this was the one dish we ordered that wasn't a travesty so I won't complain. I have nothing good nor bad to say about the service. I'm still in utter disbelief that the kitchen sent those charbroiled oysters out to a table. I've worked as a server in the past and would let the kitchen know ASAP if one of the dishes I was about to bring out looked horrible and offensive. I originally gave this a 2 star review but it's not sitting well with me. I will not be back. Simple as that. read more

Last night, our friends surprised us by taking us to the Madfish Grill and bought our meals. I had the filet mignon with real mashed potatoes and broccoli that was really good and two people including my wife had the salmon. Our friend had the fish/chips and raved about it. Overall, it was a much better experience than the last time and Rick, our server did an excellent job too! We even mentioned to the manager how he went above and beyond. The ladies might even say Rick's "easy on the eyes" with that really nice beard...Give them a try for everything and not just seafood, since you won't be disappointed. I'm going next week to try Taco Tuesday, since Mr. Tequila disappointed us all last week. read more

We found Madfish Grill while looking for a good spot close to the highway. We were so, pleasantly surprised by the service, menu and food that we stopped by again on our way home from a long weekend. And, we've been two times more. They're brunch is not to be missed. My husband loves the lobster bisque. I love the huge shrimp cocktail. Among the favorites are fish tacos, all the burgers, poke bowl, Mad (pad) Thai, pumpkin ravioli among many more. Great drinks from the bar. Tina the manager always takes great care of us. We went to Madfish Grill with friends last week and had a great experience. Rick, our waiter was excellent. We all commented that he went above and beyond to make it a great meal and experience. I had a great filet mignon at a fish place with mashed potatoes and broccoli, since I don't eat seafood. My wife had the salmon as well as one of our friends. Our friend, Jim, had the grouper fish and chips which was amazing. They serve an excellent warm bread product with roasted garlic and have EVOO on each table.
