The food was INCREDIBLE Peruvian is one of my favorite cuisines. I am usually a sceptic of latin restaurants in Atlanta. They always claim to be a certain cuisine, but find they are inspired by that cuisine, but this was not the case at Madre Selva. Everything was claimed to be imported from their ingredients to their chef and bartender. This is exactly what a trendy Peruvian restaurant is like in Lima and has been the best Peruvian restaurant I have experienced in Atlanta. WILL FOR SURE BE COMING BACK I am not sure the live dj will be there every night but he was spinning classy hard to find vinyl records.. The classic Pisco Sour was perfection. The other cocktails were just as amazing. Highly recommend ordering the Ceviche it reminded me of the ones I had in Peru if not better. I am actually looking forward to come back and try more from the ceviche menu. The service was amazing which was surprising for a new restaurant. Gorgeous, excellent food, great staff. I went only a few weeks after opening, and the staff was well trained and you could tell they are really enthusiastic about the food and the restaurant. The good: the ambiance and food is superb. You literally feel as if you're transported to another country during this dining experience. The cost of each menu item is totally worth every dime. The music (live DJs on a Saturday night) was on point. A total vibe. The clientele come dress the part. Everybody is ready for a good time. The manager is really kind and personable. The not so good: One of the hostesses is a snobby and only acknowledges you when she thinks she has to avoid being obviously rude. She tried to seat me and my friends in a booth with a seriously stained seat- then seemed completely annoyed when I objected to sitting there. We had to wait almost an hour for another table to come available. Our drinks while waiting took almost 30mins to arrive. Don't know why since there were four bartenders. Not much of a consolation offered from the manager or our waiter besides we're sorry. There doesn't seem to be any inkling of urgency or prioritization to ensure that service is smooth. Even if you ask a question that the staff must seek an answer, they won't return for another 20 mins. Once we were seated at our table, we were back on track. Overall I think this place needs more help knowing how to manage curve balls to keep things moving smoothly. Not a bad experience- they just need to tighten up. read more

Great new restaurant in Lindbergh! Reservations strongly recomended. My friend made a mistake and made reservations for Sunday instead of Saturday but we got lucky and found 4 seats at the bar. The ceviches, tirados and appetizers were on point. I'm an octopus fan so I ordered both and they were on point. The yucca was amazing. The drink program was limited but good. I know it was a soft opening but they should offer a basic beer and wine option. Other than that the food came out fast and fresh. The bartenders were very attentive and proud of their product. The restaurant was pretty and they did ritual styled hand washing at the very start which was nice but that's where all the positives ends. I find it hilarious that people find it ok to get fried fish in ceviche for almost 30 dollars. Very tiny portions like for a child and it had nothing to even go with it. They brought 4 slices of small very hard bread kinda like the ones you get a cheese board. At the very end be warned you are auto charged a service fee of 20% that you are not made aware of. Who said i wanted to pay tip of 20 dollars after a fly was in my water, no courtesy, nobody cared. Delicious Peruvian food! We arrived with no reservation and the hostess was welcoming and found a seat for us on the patio. Our server explained each dish on the menu with such enthusiasm. The spicy classic ceviche was absolutely incredible just the right amount of heat and so flavorful. Honestly, every single dish I tried was fantastic. The service was top-notch, too. Everyone was super friendly, and I even got to meet the owner, the chef, and the bar manager. This meal from start to finish was one of the best my family and I have ever had. Beginning with the cleansing ritual that was done when we first entered, set the tone for the rest of our evening. We sat outside and the ambiance was just perfect it was a beautiful night and we had a wonderful server as well. I hate to be this person but here's my review from our experience 2 weeks ago.I made reservations for my husband's birthday. Party of 2.At the very end, my brother-in-law showed up, and I assumed it wouldn't be a problem to add an extra chair for him in our table. I was looking forward to visit this restaurant, because our friends that are Peruvian had recommended it immensely. When we got there and they asked us if we had reservations, we explained about the Extra person, and they told us they couldn't accommodate us our table, and the only table available was the table in the front.This is the ugly table nobody wants to sit in.Is right in the front by the door.We asked if we could sit outside, and they told us they had a private party. They looked us up and down and kind of gave us a very strange look. We are adults in our 60s, and we were nicely dressed. But apparently there was a party with a DJ for a younger crowd that day. Maybe they didn't want us to be there, because that's exactly how they made us feel. Anyways, they didn't offer us to sit at the bar, just to see if another booth would vacant, which we would've loved, so we could have a few cocktails and people watch before dinner.For the first time I saw my husband throw a tantrum in a public place. We had very high expectations of this place, and maybe that night was not the night. It was more of a club scene. We decided to stay, it was late on a weekend and we didn't have a plan B.Our waitress was amazing, and so was the food. But the girls in the front kept looking at us. When we were having our appetizers, they still came to the table and asked which name the reservation was under.Like I wasn't mortified and embarrassed enough with my husband's tantrum, and they second guessing our reservation .We spent over $300 and left and promised never go back.We will gladly spend our money in a place that will welcome us. read more

4 of us had dinner at Madre Selva tonight. It was the first time for the group and we all had a wonderful experience. It's a great spot for a special occasion. Tonight was all about celebrating my husband and the "aging process" (because he wouldn't let us say it was his birthday). Our server, Nathan, was EXCELLENT! Ask to be seated in his section if you can. The food is exceptional. We shared everything which was perfect, because no one could make up their mind about what to order. Starters - yucas a la huancaina (this is SO GOOD I almost ordered it twice), the classic ceviche, and ceviche carretillero. All fantastic. Entrees - lomo saltado, cauliflower porterhouse, raices de la costa (like paella but even better because the rice crisps on the hot plate), and the inferno roasted whole fish (tonight was red snapper) in the josper grill style. Cocktails were also mixed perfectly. My favorite was the Paloma. It's very refreshing, especially for a hot day. Our group ordered a couple Andean nights, a chilcano, and a spicy pineapple Margarita. 10/10. read more
