I ordered an iced strawberry horchata and received a warm drink instead. I asked them to switch it and by the time the correct drink arrived so did the food. The sever never came back until it was time to pay. The gentleman with the blondish hair was the one taking care of us. (He deserved my tip!) I want to say he was the busser. The individual I believed to be the manager would make eye contact and see we had no drinks but would go to other tables and check on them. The food was delicious still so thank you to the cooks! First impression: cute, nice downtown location. Quickly came to realize how poor their signage is, with several patrons walking around trying to understand how to get a table. Being that this is a corner location, with two different entrances; the need for signage at both doors informing patrons how this establishment works is very necessary. One detail observed, a poorly monitored host stand. Not sure how this can be reworked, but I did notice that serves appear to be seating tables and taking orders. Definitely need to improve communication all around. There is a plethora of seating inside and out, with servers all running around. It took a minute to get a drink order in, and I think I ended up speaking with 2-3 different servers throughout my meal, which made it confusing when I needed a napkin or was ready for my check. Maybe this is how they operate, but to me, it took away from vs adding to the service delivery. Sad that LB Taco Co is no more. Very disappointed with our experience at Madres in Long Beach. When we arrived, we waited quite a while before anyone came to seat us. We were then told that we were no longer allowed to sit inside and had to sit outside because it was after 1:45 PM. We explained that it was extremely hot outside and there were a lot of flies, but we were told that sitting outside was our only option. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the manager, who was very rude and insisted that this was their policy because they close at 2:30 PM. In my opinion, telling paying customers that they have to sit outside in uncomfortable conditions simply because the restaurant is preparing to close is ridiculous. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. The French toast arrived burnt to a crisp, and the portions were surprisingly small considering that many of the plates cost over $20. We honestly found ourselves laughing at how little food was on some of the plates. There are plenty of other brunch spots in the area offering better portions, better value, and a much more welcoming experience. Very disappointed. This restaurant is a cute and instagram worthy spot to come to for brunch with friends. Everyone there is super nice and our waiter was great, he offered great suggestions! My friends wanted mimosas so they shared the large mimosa flight which came with 12 mimosas. I decided on the Specialty Latte Flight which came with a Pistachio Latte, Mazapan Latte, Horchata latte, and Abuelita (Mexican hot chocolate) latte. I don't like Abuelita or Horchata so I asked if they could sub out for the flavors that came on the regular latte flight. I asked to replace them with hazelnut and dulce de leche, but for whatever reason the barista told our waiter that they couldn't do that. I honestly feel like that didn't make any sense, especially when I said I'd pay the specialty flight price still. That was very disappointing, so I ended up just getting double pistachio and double mazapan. Why would they be able to do double but not sub out, I don't know. That being said, both flavors were amazing!!! The lattes were absolutely delicious. Wish I could've just gotten the full flight experience. It was everything I've always wanted without knowing I wanted. It was a little hefty on the price at $22- uncharged from the menu's listed $18- due to our eggs situation but honestly, it was worth it. It was perfect. Met a friend from Vegas she came to Ca. For the long weekend. Someone recommended Madres Brunch. Well it was a little bit disappointed was really looking forward to a nice meal with her. My little one got the 3 pancake order .. they were super chewy I kept trying to cut them in pieces since she's only 4 and boy they would not cut through. I ordered the steak and egg. Asked for steak medium and eggs sunny side up. They were both over cooked. Steak was bland. My friend ordered the French toast was super dried. She also ordered the green chilaquiles she told me to take must of them home. Her husband ordered some sampler item. He didn't looked like he was happy either but I didn't want to ask him. I am sorry to have to write this but it's expensive to eat out and you should know. As such, I expect more than what I got. We ordered the special beef pozole which looked like they had poured oil over last week's beef fat. It was unclear if they used any beef stock as it had the consistency of syrup even though the supposed broth had no flavor. We had to send it back. We also ordered the turkey club which was comprised of mostly bread and the bacon was actually thick pink fleshy ham. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and had to remove several pieces of cartilage/fatty pieces. There was also not much green chile sauce or it had been sitting at the kitchen long enough for the chips to soak it up. The color of the steak was also pale brown like it was past its time. I had to plead for water refills three times. I feel badly for the staff as it seemed like there were only two waiters for a very busy restaurant. They also forgot to remove the pozole from our bill. I had waited so much throughout the entire visit that I had to finally get up and approach someone in the kitchen so I could pay my bill and leave. We visited Madres Brunch in Long Beach this past Saturday, although it's not my first time at a Madres this location was amazing. They sat us relatively fast considering we had a group of 10 adults and 3 children. Once seated our food and drinks arrived surprisingly fast. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The food was delicious and as always so was the horchata latte I ordered. My niece began to cry toward the end of our meal and one of the managers came over with an ice cream for her which completely changed her mood back to happy baby. Thank you all again ! You will wait for at least 30 minutes for a table especially if you have a large group but the wait is worth it ! They have mimosa and coffee flights which are delicious ! A must try ! They have some specialty pancakes and French toast . My favorite is the birria omelet and the breakfast potatoes are good too - nice and soft but with a good crunch . If you want something healthy you can order some eggs and chicken breast with avocado or avocado toast and let me tell you the toast is so thick it's like eating 3 slices of bread and so soft and yummy almost like eating a croissant. We went around noon and sat inside by the window, which was nice because we could people watch while we ate. I kept it pretty simple and got the two egg breakfast. It came with two scrambled eggs, toast, and a choice of bacon or sausage. I decided to get both, added a pancake on the side, and got breakfast potatoes. Both of my friends ordered the chilaquiles. One got green sauce, the other got red, and both were topped with steak. I really enjoyed my breakfast. It was super simple but very filling. Both of my friends liked their chilaquiles, but they did wish the chips weren't so soggy. I also got a super cute white mocha latte with an intricate design on top, and it was delicious. Our waiter was amazing, very attentive, and funny, which made the experience even better. I enjoyed the food, the vibe, and spending time with my friends. Walking up we didn't have to wait long before being seated and thr staff were all great. Very helpful with the menu and were great checking up on you to make sure everything was okay. My daughter opted for thr rainbow pancakes. They were your every day pan cakes and nothing really stood out about them. Good, but it was a pancake. I opted for thr chchilaquiles which were already pricey at $17. I added the birria meat which was an extra $7. I have to say that i assumed I would have gotten a good portion size of birria, but it was a very sad scoop of birria. The chilaquiles were tasty, but the birria did lack in flavor sadly. There were plenty of other dishes that other customers were having that looked really good. I would return, but if i got the chilaquiles again, I would opt to not add meat as the portion you get doesn't match the price. read more
