We stopped in the other night for a World Cup and were able to get a bunch of items off the happy hour menu and thought it was pretty awesome location, right off the beach. They also have a couple huge TVs which were absolutely perfect for hanging out. We got the empanadas and the crust was super flaky, but it was a bit oily. One of the beers was a bit flat but modelos were tasting great. The server was SUPER attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Gaucho Café is a perfect spot to grab a quick drink and snack, which also serves as a great overflow while waiting to be seated at Gaucho Beach. For drinks, they have a nice selection of coffee drinks, matcha, teas, smoothies, Argentine Yerba mate, soft drinks, beer, sangria and margaritas. For food, they serve breakfast sandwiches, bowls, pastries, empanadas, and ice cream. While waiting for my table at Gaucho Beach, I had the margarita and a couple empanadas. The margarita was perfect and came with some tamarindo and tajin. One of the empanadas was stuffed with spinach and cheese and the other had a lesser filling of chicken, almonds, provolone and spices. They were both decent sizes and went well with the house made chimichurri. There's a paid parking lot right behind the cafe, which tends to be full on the weekends. This place alway come in handy for the weekend or whenever we're out for a walk along the bike path. It's a perfect spot for a drink after the walk. There's two side, the main side is the restaurant which tends to alway be busy especially on the weekend. Ala good during happy hours. There's always a wait for the tables. Then you have this side, the cafe. It's all outdoor seating with covered umbrella on majority of the seating. A good amount of hi top tables just infront of the ordering window as well as a communal table. Also, I recommend sitting along the lower bar stools which looks out to the bike path and is great for people watching. You could order from the window as well as the kiosk next to it. It wasn't working properly when we were there. Every now and then you'll have one of the girls walking around taking orders from their iPads as well. There's one window that you ordered from and then another around the side where you pick up your order. They'll call your name. It's the cafe side so it's more bar food type of things and snacks. And bottle beer and coffee drinks. If you want the full bar, you could order next door at the main restaurant side if needed. Most people tend to just grab a drink while they're waiting for their table at the main restaurant. It's a good concept with both the restaurant and cafe. Both great for people watching. read more

Service is good enough, our waitress was nice, but besides that it's just classic overpriced shitty food in a really good location. It's a shame some place with a speck of pride doesn't have this location, but you can get a beer and eat the worst salsa of your life for 20$ so so get you some. We had an amazing experience yesterday at our table! Our server was the best I've ever had! The food was great, she had impeccable advice, and overall the experience was incredible! I mean, how could one's experience be when you're dining on the ocean?! Today, a different overall experience...I sat at the bar and it seemed as if it took so long to even be acknowledged. It seemed okay, like, I'm at the beach! Don't sweat it! It definitely took longer than any other place to get my order going, but what struck me was that the customers to the left and right of me seemed dissatisfied with the service. The gentleman to my right stated," yeah, it's like they have a secret menu? The servers don't know what product they have?", then the couple to my left made repeated attempts to get a certain type of cocktail that couldn't be accommodated...like easy cocktails... Stars for the location and the customer service. Nice and helpful staff. I wanted to try the flan Dulce de Leche.. but it wasn't available or they were out of it. So I opted for the Dulce de leche croissant. I do not recommend it at all. The overall pastry lacked the flakey buttery texture like a true croissant, and the filling wasn't almost non existent. I live in Long Beach one of the major food capitals of Cali I'm a major foodie and Shoreline has soo many places to eat on the beach choosing a restaurant is difficult. Located in downtown Long Beach on the beach with a large private parking lot the walk to the restaurant offers a view of people skating and playing volleyball. . The path is covered in sand and ironically I despise sand but I do love the beach you walk to the right and can sign in they will hand you a few menus and allow you to choose your own table it's clean and well staffed. Initially I wanted to place my order to go at the area where you order at the counter but the run around was horrible you can't order fish and chips at this spot only certain things like empanadas etc. I found a table with a view the waitress took a minute too take my order I saw her disappear and another a waiter gave me a cup of water. I ordered Fish & Chips and Ground Beef & Carne Asada Beef Empanadas and White Wine Sangria. I was asked if I needed anything several times by wait staffs and the manager the wait staff was awesome. The young lady who seated me handed me my sangria had tiny diced apples which tasted odd it was watery without a hint of the fruity notes I expected from a true sangria and the apples looked slightly brown for $8 (happy hour) I was underwhelmed. 4/10 Fish & Chips I asked for my fish to be extra crispy and immediately think is this fish done some of it looked clear in places and it needed seasoning the tarter sauce was thick and tasted good with the fries no worries I was planning on taking this food home anyway. 7/10 It reheated very well the next day in the air fryer. Chips were crispy garlic herb flavor I loved them. 8/10 Tarter Sauce mayonnaise based 7/10 Ground Beef Empanada Wasn't heated properly the dough was crunchy but it was cold and lacked flavor. 6/10 At home I seasoned and reheated it in my air fryer made a dipping sauce it tasted much better. 8/10 when air fried. Carne Asada This one had a nice flavor and the dough was crispy at home I added more seasoning and reheated it. 8/10 The sauces were Chimichuri sauce perfect with beef empanadas. 8/10 Overall I think this is a good restaurant the wait time was good I like the view on the beach its well staffed and has quite the variety of foods to choose from as well as appetizers drinks and happy hour specials but menu items can get pricy. Recently came here mid-walk along the beach for a coffee and small bite. I ordered an iced churro latte with oat milk but unfortunately felt like it was missing flavor and mainly tasted like milk. I also got the beef empanada which made up for the coffee as it was really flavorful and the perfect little bite. I stopped by Gaucho Cafe while in Long Beach for a triathlon because we desperately needed caffeine and it was within walking distance. This little kiosk-style cafe sits right off the beach boardwalk/bike path and was super cute from the outside. The menu looked extensive and honestly pretty perfect for a beachside stop. But... they were out of almost everything I wanted. And I don't mean one or two items!!! I mean nearly every drink and snack I asked for. It got to the point where I didn't order anything at all, though my friend did manage to find one option still available. Service was meh, not rude but not particularly warm or helpful either. While the menu gives the impression of endless choices, the reality (at least that day) was pretty limited. That being said, I'd still love to come back and try an empanada someday! Great atmosphere, but service needs some work. They apparently don't know the difference between a draft beer and a bottled beer. Menu said draft but they brought us bottles and when I tried to explain that to them, they pointed at the bottle and said it's draft beer. Prices are high, but you're right on the beach so that's expected. Atmosphere is nice and since they are right on the beach and the beaches are public space in California, they have to allow you to hang out there even if you don't order anything. read more

This review is about service and options--not the food or coffee. Excellent location and ambience facing the water. I'm sharing this with the hope that it helps the business grow and improve. We ordered three coffees and several food items, but unfortunately, many of the food items listed were unavailable. For an Argentinian café, it was disappointing that they didn't have basics on their menu, like sandwich de miga or empanadas. When I asked to substitute almond milk for regular milk, I had to repeat it three times during ordering, before I saw it entered on screen. I'll find out in a few hours if the substitution was made. We waited at least 20 minutes for our small order, only to be told that one of the plain black coffees hadn't even been placed. We had to reorder and wait an additional 10 minutes just for that. They offer a variety of egg sandwiches, so we placed an additional order for an avocado bagel and asked if they could simply add an egg. We even offered to pay extra--but they said it wasn't possible. That response made no sense considering they serve eggs in other sandwiches. Again, this isn't about taste. It's about service, availability, and basic flexibility. With some adjustments and better communication, this place could really thrive. read more

I went for happy hour and to watch the World Cup. The place was so understaffed for such an event. The food took forever, the staff was over exhausted (one girl was plain rude). I so hate leaving poor reviews, that said, I hope management take a look at their staff and choices for how the cafe is servicing customers. The customer service is horrible!. Not friendly at all, I had to go ask for the status of my order, which was sitting on the counter, instead of them calling a number or name. The only welcoming person I encountered was Daphne. The food was cold and not very pleasing. Which is shocking because I always enjoy the restaurant meals and services. The unwelcoming environment means I will not be returning. That said, management needs to take a look at staff practices and customer satisfaction. There is room for improvement. read more

This place is beyond SLOW!!!! I asked for 2 smoothies and two empanadas and waited for nearly 30 minutes!!!! The staff took forever to take our order and there was a line. The staff looked very dismotivated without any sense of urgency! When I paid, the minimum Tip amount suggested was 18% 20% and 25%! We actually didn't stay to eat. My daughter had been there recently and raved about this place. I'm in town to help her as she currently has a broken leg, full leg brace and crutches. We parked, I walked ahead to secure a table. The host was very accommodating and put me at a location where crutches, injured leg, etc, wouldn't be in anyone's way. My daughter was making her way from the parking lot and started up the accessible ramp. She was rudely admonished by the girl working that side and was told to go around to the front entrance and that it was no big deal as there was only one step at that entrance! It is. BIG deal. That's why they have accessibility accommodations! My daughter continued around and asked the very kind host to just come get me. She was distraught by the treatment she received, the host that helped me was very apologetic that "something had happened on the other side". My daughter was not going to spend $$ at a n establishment that does not respect everyone! I called when we got home, left a message to speak to a manager but I have yet to receive a callback. Appears some of the staff needs sensitivity training and an introduction to ADA requirements. Enjoy your outing if you are in perfect physical condition. Been here twice now and love coming. The concept of the spot is great , I love the ambiance and can't beat being right on the beach. I also like that you order from your table and that they have a wide selection of food and drink. My only gripe this time was the Korean short ribs were not great, the flavor was sour and kind of over powered the whole dish. I enjoyed my breakfast the first visit so I'll definitely keep trying other dishes. Cocktails are good. Been wanting to try this place! Finally, we came here with my friend and my son and his buddy, after church (yesterday). Beautiful weather! There was a Reggae music festival going on so it was loud but other than that, I bet it's pretty chill. We tried: - Honey Matcha Latte = yummy (my friend's son finished it fast!) - Poderosa (fruit smoothie, no dairy) = my friend let us try it and it was very refreshing! - Dulce de leche latte (iced w/ Oat milk) = Gave me energy to walk for 3-4 miles with the kids. - The smoothie with Açaí, blueberry and chia seeds (forgot the name but it came with coconut milk) = Not sure if we liked it....but at least we tried it. Inattentive and lengthy service. Once I finally got someone to pay attention to me the food was going to take an extended period of time. I ended up going Nextdoor to the takeout place where I had empanadas that were probably refrigerated or frozen and then reheated, and they were not heated all the way through, and tasted marginal for the price. It was a great place to sit to look at the ocean, but of course anything in California has to be ruined by large groups of transients that smell terrible and clouds of marijuana smoke everywhere. read more
