The food here is decent--solid flavors and nothing truly disappointing--but it feels noticeably overpriced for what you get. The drinks are even more expensive! Service was genuinely good and attentive, which is why we decided to give the place a second chance. Unfortunately, the flies were a major problem both times. We tried eating inside thinking it would be better, but it was actually worse. Multiple flies kept landing on our food, which completely killed the appetite. There's clearly an issue with flies in the area, and it's hard to overlook when you're paying premium prices. (And let's be honest--we all know where those flies have been.) Overall: I wanted to like this spot more, especially with the friendly service, but the combination of high prices and persistent flies makes it hard to recommend. The experience got off to a rough start. Edwin allowed another party to go ahead of us after they complained, which led me to raise the issue as well. We were then told our name had been called, but I was paying close attention and it seemed like our party was simply skipped - out parties name was even crossed out on the waitlist That said, Edwin later apologized and made things right, which I appreciated. Great service, come early during the week it's not busy. I'm sure it gets busy in the weekends. The ambiance was a bit loud with the music they had playing inside so it was a nice day outside to sit down instead. We got the Belgian waffle $18 and the mazapán latte with soy milk plus whip cream $8+ $1 soy milk. The waffle was good, they give you two so we split it. Decided to walk over for breakfast. Was immediately greeted and sat. Waitress was Amazing! All of the help here was phenomenal. You could tell this quaint little place was home to locals. Wonderful spot in Long Beach for breakfast or brunch. They have tables inside or outside. It is really a lovely location with a cute little shop next door incase you are waiting for a table. The food is really good and plentiful. Since it was brunch, I got the Mimosa Flight which is 3 mimosas of orange juice, cranberry juice and pineapple juice - so fun! I just wish I had chosen a different dish than the Divorsados, not because they weren't good because they delicious but when our table got the French Toast dish with ice cream, I knew I should have gotten the waffle. I'd been to the Whittier location, which was very small, only to find a much more spacious location here. For a Sunday at brunch time, the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were sat right away on the patio. Our server was super sweet and they have a wide selection of coffee beverages that we partook in. Everything we had was good and with good portions of meat. Prices were what they are these days - about $150 for four people, each with a drink, and an extra entree to share. I have many places yet to try but Madres will remain a good choice when I'm not feeling adventurous to try something new. read more

We came at 8:45 am on a Saturday morning. We were the first people here. Greeted immediately upon entering. This is a super fun place because they change the menu so check out their Instagram to find out what their monthly specialities are!! I ordered the Michelada with Modelo. Very refreshing, and yes I know it's 8:45 in the morning but I'm on vacation! Boyfriend had a flight of coffees: abuelita which was very chocolatey, pistachio( which tasted soo good!!) and marzipan! I would give it a 7.5/10, I wish the tortillas were extremely soggy so it could have a crunch to it. The birria meat itself was pretty good. I also wish they added more of the chicharron topping. The pastor omelette was a 8.5/10, the meat was also good and well seasoned. The birria omelette was a 9/10! Switched the sides to hash-browns and it was better. This is my kinda spot and I wish we lived here cause I'd be here all the time. We arrived at our hotel and rooms were not ready so we decided to stroll around town and find a coffee shop to hang for a bit. We walked in here and they had the house music blasting away, a group of gals were having a birthday party and it was super cute inside. My girlfriends and I came here yesterday for brunch and we had a good experience with our food. They have mimosa flights, Michelada flights, and margarita flights. Aesthetically speaking, everything looked very nice. It's a cool vibe in there and they definitely have many breakfast item favorites for everyone. They even had a vegan section which was impressive. The only thing that I really disliked about this place was the volume of the music. Maybe we need to go on the weekend and experience the mimosa, coffee flights and crowds. Food.. my boyfriend is very particular about his pancakes and rarely likes people's cakes. The sever never came back until it was time to pay. The gentleman with the blondish hair was the one taking care of us. (He deserved my tip!) I want to say he was the busser. After placing our order, we waited about 20-25 minutes for our food, only for it to arrive cold and tasting like it had been sitting in the back. The steak and eggs were ordered medium well, yet came out extremely red and undercooked. We sent it back, and even the second time it was still not cooked correctly. Had the opportunity to try Madre's Brunch yesterday morning after my morning run with friends. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and sourdough toast. My friend ordered the Birria Chilaquiles that by the way looked amazing! They had a special Dubai chocolate pancake and we couldn't resist getting it. Pancakes were huge, and the toppings made it very decadent. My partner loves pancakes and he loved it! This rating is partially my fault--I came here for what I wanted vs what I needed. I'm in Long Beach for a conference so I needed a healthy breakfast and WiFi to get some work done. First, upon entering the establishment there was no air conditioning. Pretty stuffy so I requested to sit outdoors. Is the south the only region of the US that does air conditioning?! I was initially attracted to Madres by the delicious-looking photos of their breakfast, but I didn't order any of their fun coffee flights, waffles, pancakes, or French toast, so I don't feel like I can speak to what they do best. I instead went for the fruit salad--I barely ate any of it because the fruit was mediocre, there was no need for the mounds of nuts, and the yogurt/granola was not good. No one knew the WiFi password and the password I was given by 2 different servers didn't work. I tried multiple iterations they suggested with no luck, so I had to settle for my personal hotspot. The last miss here was that there were nuts in my latte, no warning. I understand that marzipan is an almond paste, but what happened to just using flavored syrup? The service was slow, they don't believe in ketchup apparently, it's very loud, and parking is not great. What disappointed me the most was when our bill came and there was an extra 15 dollar charge added. We visited Madres Brunch in Long Beach this past Saturday, although it's not my first time at a Madres this location was amazing. They sat us relatively fast considering we had a group of 10 adults and 3 children. Once seated our food and drinks arrived surprisingly fast. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The food was delicious and as always so was the horchata latte I ordered. My niece began to cry toward the end of our meal and one of the managers came over with an ice cream for her which completely changed her mood back to happy baby. Thank you all again !
