Last weekend I came here for brunch with a group of 6. Seeing all the tables full and several names ahead of us on the list, we were prepared to wait but we had no idea that we would be waiting for 1.5 hours. Initially quoted 30 to 45 minutes, but it went so far beyond that. We realized it's a small place, but we were getting a little frustrated when they were seating parties who arrived after us because they had the right number of people to occupy the table(s). Sometimes it was parties of 4, then 2, and even 10. An easy solution would have been to move or separate tables to seat us within a reasonable time. So with that being said, I would recommend going super early (before 10 am) or late (after 1 pm) AND do NOT go in a party of 6! Now, the positive! The inside decor is so colorful and cute. Our server was super nice and efficient. We had drinks and order taken in no time! All the food dishes had lovely presentations and were tasty. There was also a virtual DJ playing some tunes up on the screen that created some nice ambiance. While the dining experience was pleasant, the 1.5 hour wait for a table was not. Therefore, I would not return unless I happened to walk by and saw empty tables. But walk by and maybe give it a try.

It is located in downtown Monrovia on Lemon St. Parking is on the street or behind the shops. The restaurant is very colorful and small. When you check in for your table, the minutes they quote you is real. I saw a table leave, got cleaned up, and it sat empty for the duration of my wait time (30 min). Im assuming it is allowing the kitchen to catch up on their orders. The food was delicious and the price is moderate for the quality. I enjoyed the food that was ordered and I will need to come back and try their other items.

The restaurant is located in old town Monrovia. There are various parking lots and street parking. Can get busy. I had to park a block away. Very cute cafe. I love all the decor and wall signs. I tried the special coffee flight (pistachio, horchata, marzapan and abuelita). All very tasty but I think my favorite was the marzapan. I also tried the birria omelette and so nice of them to let me replace the beans with salad for my dietary preference. My friend ordered the combo toast. The food was a little on the bland side but maybe next time I try their sweet dishes. Drinks were great tho. The lady who helped us was also a sweet. So nice and so helpful. Lots of indoor tables. Nice vibes.

Cute new brunch location in Monrovia! The staff was so incredibly friendly and I love the interior decor. They have so many drinks you can choose from, from mimosas to horchata to coffee. I tried the pistachio latte half sweet and it was still too sweet for me, so next time, I may just need to stick to a regular non sugar beverage. My bestie got the iced matcha with oat milk and said it was creamy and flavorful. We shared the salsa verde chilaquiles and the churro french toast. Both were delicious. Will be back next time I'm in the area. They have so many locations, check them out!

First time here. Came with my coworkers. Service was amazing! The staff was sooo friendly and soo accommodating! They seated us first outside but the table was really wobbly. They agreed to move us inside. And they took really great care of us. The food was yummmmm! I loved the ambiance. Didn't take pics of the food cause we were starving lol. But coffee was great. Can't wait to bring my hubby and son to try it.

My daughter and I walked into Madres for a late Friday brunch. We were promptly seated, given menus and water. We split the Nutella French toast and the chilaquiles omelette, to enjoy both savory and sweet dishes. I had the house coffee and my daughter had the iced vanilla cold brew coffee, which she described as delectable. The Nutella French toast was quite thick slices of bread dipped in cinnamon egg batter, topped with a generous slathering of Nutella and grilled plantains. The chilango omelette was a generous portion of green chilaquiles, topped with sour cream and red onions. Our server was attentive and friendly. My coffee was nothing to brag about, it had bitter undertones. Overall it was a nice little breakfast place on the pricier side.

This location us easy to get here with all the street or public lot parking. There's lots of seating but can get filled during the rush hour. There's loads of fun artwork. The staff were nice and helpful. It can be difficult to find staff when it's a rush but that's expected when it's busy. But they do the payment at the table so it's quick. Their menu also comes with a QR code for special menu options. I for the abulita latte and it's pretty good. It definitely tastes like abulita chocolate and it's not too sweet. I got the oat milk so there was an extra charge. The One sandwich is big! I ended eating half and saved the rest for later. It was definitely a good amount of food. And probably the largest slice of bread I've ever had. The birria and consomé was alright. I wish the consomé had more flavor or a small kick. The potatoes were pretty good, hot and crispy. I'd return here again. There's lots of food I wanna try on the menu.

This was my first time at Madres Brunch and was excited to try their food. Their following online and reviews on Yelp are what pulled me into try. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the popularity they receive online. The food is beautiful online but in person was a huge let down. Bland and defiantly not a "made fresh" taste. We decided to order simple and something specialty. Ordered the birria Benedict and lacked flavor. The simple two egg breakfast with a $3 addition pancake was not good at all. Something simple lacked so much flavor. Pancake is definitely box mix. Ambiance is beautiful and has character but we also waited quite a while before we were even served. ( mind you, we were seated/waited before other parties) Overall all, our waitress was so sweet and kind. The only thing I would recommend from Madres Brunch is the Dulce de leche coffee.

3.5 stars. Nothing wrong per say but nothing blew me away either. The service was the highlight of my experience, as many others shared too. We arrived on a Friday around 11:30am and the place was packed! Luckily my friend and I grabbed an outside table. We ordered Michelada Flights, which were a little too sweet for me and one was incredibly salty (think beer, lime, salt). The Popeye Omelette was good but average. My friend had the Birria Omelette which looked & smelled fantastic. I love old town Monrovia and will give Madres another try.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars. I've been wanting to try out this place since I see it on social media a lot. Since one finally opened up near me, I decided to give this place a try! I got the special of the month, lomo saltado chilaquiles, a pistachio latter, and an order of the churro French toast to share. I was a quite disappointed in the lomo saltado chilaquiles. The idea was great but it was definitely not lomo saltado. First of all, it has bell peppers. I've had quite a few lomo saltado dishes and I don't think they have bell peppers in it. It was also missing that "wok hey" that lomo saltado usually has. The chips also were too soggy for me. I like a good crunch to my tortilla chips. I was also quite disappointed that they didn't have that green spicy sauce that most Peruvian spots have. This was quite a miss in my book unfortunately. The churro fresh toast tasted exactly how it sounds. The bread was fluffy, perfect cinnamon taste, and I really enjoyed the churros on the side. I would recommend trying out their sweet brunch dishes as it seems like that is what they're known for. Since they just opened, they're still trying to figure out the logistics of service. I had no complaints but it does seem like the kitchen took a little longer to make your food. The space is well decorated and it started getting really busy as the morning went on. I hope for the best for this location but I am unsure if I would return.

This was such a let down! Came here on a whim based on the Yelp reviews and, ended up leaving disappointed. Husband ordered an omelet. Oh my goodness what a sad excuse for a breakfast classic! The meats were not even cooked into the eggs nor was the cheese. It was like they plopped it on there as an after thought!! My eggs... had HUGE chunks of egg shells in them!!! Best thing about the visit was the coffees we had before the food. We both had the pistachio, I had iced he had blended. We ended up getting it mostly refunded and went elsewhere. The manager was very nice and did apologize- but the damage was done. One other note/ the 2 TV's sat on the same channel which was of a female DJ spinning and just bouncing back and forth to the beat- 45 mins of watching this was.... Painful!

Madres Brunch has finally opened in Old Town so of course we had to try it asap and had an excellent first experience! All of our food was fantastic- delightful twists on old favorites - the lattes were flawless, service highly attentive and welcoming, and such fun, hip brunch vibes. It's pricey but the quality is there and we'll definitely be back. For our brunch feast we tried the pastor omelette, their eggs Benedict, and couldn't resist the churro French toast. We also tried the horchata latte and pistachio latte. I was especially impressed by how beautifully everything was plated and presented - definitely a feast for the eyes as well as the belly - even the lattes! The pork and pineapple in the hubby's pastor omelette was grilled to perfection with the most supple texture and excellent complementary flavors. The refried beans on the plate were some of the smoothest and most flavorful I've ever had - delicious and would get again. My eggs Benedict was the star of the show for me - such a fresh take on a classic fave. The eggs were perfectly poached with a velvety, runny yolk. They were delicately perched on top of some of the BEST muffins I've ever had - soft with an unexpected crust of some sort of butter or light cheese on top and none of that bitter aftertaste you get with the store bought English muffins. And it's topped with the most delightful cilantro- forward cream sauce - absolutely loved it and will return for this item specifically. Highly recommend! The churro French toast was also lovely! They use the thickest slices of fluffy brioche swirled with cinnamon and packed with flavor - topped with fried churro pieces and delectable sweetened condensed milk and whip cream - it's heavy and the portions are massive so we had to take most of it home. But it held up surprisingly well as our dessert the next day - it was still delicious even after microwaving! Our lattes were no less impressive - both decorative, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The pistachio was excellent and will be my go-to when we return. Their wall art is lively and so beautifully done - perfect for the vibrant LA brunch scene and an excellent addition to Old Town. They also have a virtual DJ spinning energetic tunes while you eat - and the volume isn't obnoxious- it's still easy to carry on the convo. Prices are high imo but totally supported by the quality - service was attentive and so friendly - we look forward to our next visit! And it's an excellent location down a quiet side street next to one of the public parking lots. Welcome to Monrovia!

I had such a lovely experience at Madre's Brunch! The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole visit feel relaxed. I ordered the pistachio latte and it was exactly what I was hoping for -- warm, creamy, and comforting.. just a TAD too sweet. Breakfast was clean: perfectly cooked eggs, fresh fruit, and a light salad that left me feeling satisfied but not heavy. The space itself is CUTE, cozy, bright, and inviting, the kind of spot you want to linger in on a weekend morning. Definitely a gem in Monrovia -- I'll be coming back for sure! read more

The one positive about this place was that the service was excellent. However, the decor is distractingly tacky, and the food was mostly sugar based and very artificial tasting. We ordered the journey pancakes--which were described as strawberry pancakes. Instead they were strawberry "flavored" pancakes (neon pink) drowned in a Pepto-Bismol colored sauce and covered in sprinkles. The pancakes themselves were claggy/gummy, not like pancakes at in in terms of taste or texture. Everything was just so sugary. This is the kind of place I would have designed when I was a little girl, or food I would expect from a mid-level amusement park: psychedelic colors, gigantic images of flowers and butterflies all over the walls, neon lit signs, a neon pink menu, and neon pink food covered in sugar sauce--no consideration of nutrients, flavor, natural ingredients, or a pleasant atmosphere. We also ordered an omelette and bacon which were passable, but not memorable. The pancakes were so bad that we told the manager they were inedible, and to his credit, he took the item off the bill. However, this is a very expensive brunch for there being so little food in the food. Overall, given the obnoxious decor and food with colors you would not find in nature, it seems like this place was designed so people could put images on Instagram, not so they could experience delicious flavors. I was uber excited to try this new brunch spot in Monrovia! It finally opened! A good friend wanted to celebrate her birthday with brunch and we decided on Madres. My chicken chilaquiles was OK. Im disappointed. I expected more considering their price points. Lackluster, that's the word. The energy and ambience had a good vibe, but I felt the establishment was over priced for food that was less than exceptional. The food fell flat. read more

Very surprised location is tucked inside downtown Monrovia. The layout and decor is very hip! Small free parking in the back is a major plus! We ordered mole chiliaquiles and pistachio waffles. Waffles was so bomb and perfectly toasted. Not soggy or soft, great texture. Chiliaquiles was good, really liked the combination of flavors. Chicken was cooked perfectly! Drinks- I really liked the pistachio latte and madres lemonade. We got the seasonal flight, wasn't bad but we were picturing it differently. Place just opened and they were having a soft opening and was able to try their food. Have been to their other location in Whittier and although this place is small it feels very cozy and felt at home. Natalie and Larry were so nice and gave great service. Had the chilaquiles with steak and they were delicious. Was excited to try their cafe de oya but they didn't have it available just yet, for sure going to stop by and try their other menu options. read more

This place was so delicious.I've been to 1 of the other locations before , so I was so excited to come and try this once since it's closer to my house and\nThe service was on point are waitress was very helpful and very accommodating to us.And the food was ridiculously delicious.I love the fact that this month.They have a matcha , flight and spring margarita flight and mimosa tower. 1st time here on 01/10/26: Great service, good food, good music and vibes. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We came to celebrate a birthday. I did want to say as a tip for checking in here, the door that says "Wangs" is for Madres. You walk in and go to the kitchen and there will be a sign in list here. Or someone will be there to add you to the list, you'll receive a text once your table is ready. We had the chilaquiles verdes and the birria chilaquiles. We also had one of the "on fire" waffles it was so good! Reminded me of s'mores. 10/10 recommend! read more

Welcome to Monrovia Madres! This place is a great addition to Old Town. Husband enjoyed the Madre Chilaquiles. I had the Churro French Toast and it was very sweet but not too sticky sweet, oh and they use brioche bread (huge plus in my book). Daughter ordered the Avocado Toast Sampler (also brioche). Everything hit the spot. I was tempted to try the late flight but ordered the Horchata Latte and it was delicious! The entire staff was friendly and our server Giovanni was attentive and took very good care of us. The layout is cute and they have a virtual deejay on the tv screens playing mostly club music. It was our first time visiting this place, and honestly, for being a new restaurant, they still have a lot to work on. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and was really disappointed. It was extremely basic and lacked flavor. The egg wasn't even poached, it was served over-easy. I had to drench my food in salsa just to give it some taste. We also ordered the omelette plate, which looked very plain and unappetizing. There was no real flavor in any of the dishes. To make matters worse, they charge per item for the omelette, which felt unreasonable for the quality. Honestly, we would have been more satisfied going to Norms. The food was definitely overpriced for what we received. Service was also a bit slow, especially considering it was a Thursday and only about four tables were occupied. The atmosphere was very loud , you could hear every single conversation happening around the restaurant, which made it hard to enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit. Great location in Mo rovia, brunched with a colleague. She had highly recommended and said It was a must. Loved the mimosas. Great service, great food, and great ambiance. Wife and I had lattes flights and all 4 iced lattes were delicious. We tried the chilaquiles verdes with steak and the jalapeño cheese croissant. Everything was delicious and presented nicely. No complaints. Glad to have this place in Monrovia and we'll definitely be back! read more

My grown kids & I wated over 45 minutes for us to be called. We were told the wait was 20 minutes TWICE. We asked after the 1st 20 came & gone. The food was very much microwaved because the waffles were elastic and chewy so was the bread. There was no salad dressing on our salads so dry. The air conditioning was super high I froze. The place is cute and the service was ok. We got our salad dressing but after comments like "we already put some so you want more?" Um both my son and I had completely dry salads. So rude. Such a bad experience. I'll never go back. read more

Down not like the customer service they took long for the food , we order something to go as well but they took longer than the waiting time then several waitresses came by and didn't know what was ordered because they never put the order in. Abuelita Latte was hands down the best part of my visit! It was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with just the right hint of that nostalgic Mexican chocolate flavor. You can really tell they put care into making it. I've tried a lot of specialty lattes, and this one easily stands out as one of my favorites. I'd come back just for this drink alone! read more

It's Alot different than going to Benediction in Industry or Popping Yolk in Hacienda Heights, but the food was good. If you're some "influencer" you'll love this place. If you're a normal human like myself, it's alright. They are all about the presentation and "show" of the food. We ordered the strawberry pancake because they sounded good. When our waitress brought them to the table she said "aren't you going to film this?" Well I couldn't care less how you lift up a thing of the sauce and pour on my pancakes. Now I know that there are a lot of people that live for the view and video and that's fine! I'm just saying if I'm paying over $100 for two omelets, pancakes and some coffee, it better be the best meal I've ever had. And it was just okay. This review has very little to do with the service it's self the wait staff seemed friendly, after dropping off the plates and drink they did not check in after but it was very busy so that is understandable. HOWEVER if I could rate 0 stars I would. Our table of two people: ordered cafe de olla, churro french toast, steak and eggs, and Benedict eggs. The coffee was lack luster only way to describe it was hot water with the essence of cinnamon. The food itself was worse off: steak was ordered medium rare.... We got a well done steak that was not seasoned at all. The side of potatoes that it came with were barely considered warm. The benedict eggs the plate was 90% salad- a salad which was not throughly washed. The eggs were overcooked and had a small puddle of water on the plate presumably from being poached. The churro french toast was undercooked to the point it still had runny batter. Approximately 1/4 of the entire order was eaten and we both became physically ill not even 20 minutes later. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, and when Monrovia comes up in conversation, I always mention Jake's :)

We were given the check with no real attempt to make the situation right, and at that point we just wanted to leave. What made it more disappointing is that I've been here before and the food was genuinely really good, so I know they're capable of a much better experience. For some reason, it just didn't hit this time.

The…read moreowner is so friendly and sweet, she greeted us when we walked in and introduced the menu patiently. It is a small cozy coffee shop with a few table/chairs and a couch, there are so many yummy sweet treats and pastries on the counter and display section. The coffee we ordered is also very decent. They also have outdoor seating too, the street parking is not too bad and we visited on a Sunday. Will come back to try their pastries next time. Highly recommended if you are a Monrovian and has not tried this place yet.

This is my first time here but my wife has been to this restaurant's other location so I decided to give it a try even though my wife told me that the food is a bit different but I love to try new things so we came. Place is clean, servers are polite and friendly, music is relaxing and it was not busy when we got here so that was nice. I ordered Huevos Ranchero which I always order in breakfast restaurants and my wife ordered the madres chilaquiles. The food was good but definitely different. It seemed like they have created an American Mexican fusion that was not really to my liking but the food quality was good and well prepared. There was ham, baked potato with bacon bits and fried cheese in my Huevos Ranchero which was very strange to me because this was the first time ever I have seen those combinations in a Huevos Ranchero and I have tried over 100 Huevos Ranchero in 100 different restaurants and this was totally different but as I mentioned the food was prepared nicely and visually appealing and somewhat delicious without the chews and baked potato and ham. Salsa was a bit spicy to my taste but overall I enjoyed it since my wife was with me. I give this place a 5 star because the place is clean, food is good and the wine is nice so if you are into American Mexican fusion breakfast definitely give this place a try read more

I found myself in the area this morning after checking out the School of the Arts with my daughter. We were famished and seeing the great reviews for this place, we gave it a try. On the plus side, the servers were great and the Cafe de Olla and pistachio latte were perfect. But it all stops there. After a super long wait for our food (the restaurant wasn't fully packed yet, mind you) we finally got our mediocre food. Oh sure, my Wilma pancakes were totally Instagramable, but were they edible? Just barely. The pancakes were gummy and rubbery and difficult to cut, even with a knife and fork! The fruity pebbles were stale, totally lacking crunch or flavor. I guess they tried to cover that up with the overly sweet condensed milk topping? It was a huge disappointment. And at $20 for the plate, a huge rip off. My daughter had the chilaquiles rojo and said it was pretty solid, not as good as the chilaquiles we usually get in our neck of the woods, but decent. Overall, this place was pretty disappointing, especially considering the price point. I feel no need to go here again. read more

I recently visited the new Madres Brunch location and it's such a great addition to the Monrovia brunch scene. The space is bright, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed brunch with friends or family. One of the highlights was their coffee flight, which is a fun way to try a few different drinks if you can't decide on just one. Everything was well balanced and beautifully presented. Their famous strawberry shortcake pancakes called "The Journey" definitely lived up to the hype. The pancakes were fluffy and topped with fresh strawberries, giving it that perfect sweet brunch vibe. I was really looking forward to trying this new brunch spot Madres in Monrovia, the photos online looked incredible! We visited on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. It was lively but not overcrowded, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. I was especially excited to try the pistachio waffles and pistachio latte. I asked the server to leave off the ice cream and strawberry cream because I really wanted to focus on the pistachio flavor. I also ordered a side of one egg. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. The egg arrived cold and rubbery, and the waffles were quite dry and dense, with a noticeable amount of green food coloring but very little pistachio flavor. My friend tried the pancakes and felt they were also dry and lacking in taste. That said, I think this place has a lot of potential , the concept is fun and the ambiance is lovely. With a few tweaks to the recipes, especially for the waffles and pancakes, I could see it becoming a real brunch favorite. read more

Here's a polished Yelp review: Really enjoyed our brunch here. What stood out most was that the food was brought out in the right order and with real care. It did not feel like they were just serving plates. It was obvious the meal was prepared thoughtfully from beginning to end. The bacon was thick, the sausage was great, and the eggs were done right, which is harder to find at brunch places than it should be. You can tell they actually put effort into the details. My wife also really liked the mimosas. They did not just label the flavors. The drinks actually represented the flavors well.
