Dang I was so excited but so disappointed. I ordered the green chilaquiles with carne asada. The asada was bland, no flavor at all. The chilaquiles were mushy and didn't have the slightest taste of tomatillo or freshness. We had 5 plates, 3 were unfinished and did not take it to go. The total with entrees drinks was $170. I really enjoyed having brunch at Madres, a new brunch spot on Greenleaf Ave. I saw this place online (tik tok) and it looked amazing. They're known for their cool instagrammable mimosa flights and traditional mexican dishes. We didn't have a reservation and I couldn't seem to join the waitlist on Yelp. Once I arrived and saw the amount of people waiting, it was no question that this place blew up. The host let me know that there were about 30 parties ahead of me. We were told the wait would be 1hr and 30 min but we actually ended up waiting about 45 minutes to be seated. We were seated in a table for two in the middle of the restaurant. They have many tables inside and it does feel a bit cramped, but I understand they have to fit as many tables as possible due to demand. Nutella french toast 9/10 - The french toast was delicious and came with grilled plantains (my absolute favorite). They are on the sweeter side so be prepared to drink a glass of milk while you're eating them. Chilaquiles 9.5/10: These were absolutely delicious and perhaps a bit better than my moms (don't tell her I said that). The portion was a bit small and we were actually considering getting another order. I definitely recommend making a reservation and not showing up during prime time brunch hour like I did. read more

I got the Birria Sandwich, and it was SOOO juicy and delicious. perfectly cooked birria w/ bacon and eggs; the only down side was how difficult it got to eat! LOL. The bread got very soggy quickly, so it was very messy. The service was a little slower than usual, they seemed very busy and or understaffed. We placed our drink and meal orders: chilaquiles with green salsa omelette and my coworker order the birria chilaquiles, and we split the waffle. My green chilaquiles omelette was very good, the chilaquiles were soft, but firm and not over cooked or soggy, and the black beans were flavorful. Came here because the food looked good and they closed at 2:30PM today. Checked in at 12:10PM on the yelp wait list and got seated at the entrance window. Ordered 4 plates and waters. After 15 minutes, we finally received our waters. After 45 minutes and our waitress not giving us an update on our food - the sense of just sitting there and waiting, I had enough. Waitress finally came to update us that they're backed up in the kitchen. This is our first time here and its only two of us. From 12:10PM to 1:10PM, One hour of waiting and still nothing. We ended up leaving and took our money to The Chicken Koop. Honestly, it was a blessing in disguise because they had the very best customer service and when we ordered 4 items from there, everything was on our table within 10 minutes on top of ordering two micheladas. I will never come back here. Having your first time customers wait for one hour and the waitresses not being attentive in providing an update with the food is absurd.
