Maenam ended up being my favorite meal in my trip to Vancouver. The restaurant took care of my party very well throughout the set menu experience, and it was a very reasonable price. Several large seafood items must be ordered in advance, including the lobster claypot. If you are a fan of glass noodles and seafood, I would definitely recommend the dish! My favorite dishes were actually some of the starting bites, but the sable fish main was also very strong. Service was prompt and courteous, and they provided a free drink for someone in my party who accidentally spilled their first cocktail.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not heavy on Thai food because I am picky. But Maenam isn't just any Thai food restaurant. It's an exquisite Thai restaurant that offers fresh, delicately balanced dishes for you to enjoy. Of course it's easier finding this place when your date loves food as much as you do and has a special back for the best places visit. You're greeted in the most polite way possible. Your sever guides you through the menu and make recommendations based on acquired taste for certain things. They ask if you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies. Truly top notch service. Then you get to these beautifully crafted dishes that just take your breath away literally. We mostly shared all of our dishes and despite eating it all, I didn't feel boosted or full. God vibes all around.

This is my second time here. First time was with a friend for dine out and it was a bit disappointing. This time it was very tasty! We got the pad thai, shrimp chuchi curry, chicken skewers and tom sap soup. The pad thai was tasty - noodles were chewy and sauce was good. Could use a bit more smokiness though. Chicken skewers also needed more smokiness and caramelization but the peanut and chili vinegar sauces paired well. The shrimp chuchi curry was very good - flavourful and shrimp were grilled perfectly. Lastly, the Tom sap was by far my favourite - sweet, sour soup with a kick. The pork bones were fall off the bone too. Service both times were great as well.

I went here for lunch with a friend during Dine Out Vancouver. I've been to Maenam a few times, but this was the first time for my friend. We had reservations so we were seated quickly, but the restaurant never more than half full that day. The space continues to look pretty traditional and classic. Since we already saw the Dine Out menu, we quickly ordered. Although all the food wasn't bad, I think it suffered a common issue with Dine Out menus - quality suffers to bulk production. The dishes didn't seem freshly prepared, nor carefully plated compared to previous visits. Service was adequate, but also didn't hit the same standard I've experienced before. So overall, it was OK. Nothing particularly memorable. I've certainly had better meals there before.

Came here last night for a light dinner with a friend and had a great experience! Interiors were absolutely beautiful inside and at around 6pm the restaurant filled up quickly! I wish I got to try more items on the menu, I'll definitely return for that. My friend and I shared the steamed mussels and shrimp pad thai and it was sooo flavourful. The mussels hit the spot and had a nice thai basil/citrus flavour and was paired well with a fish sauce dip. The shrimp pad thai was absolutely delicious and had the authentic tamarind taste. All in all, great service too and I will return

Delightful Thai restaurant located on West 4th and Cypress. Modern interior with woodsy paneling and mirrors to project size ambitions. Very neat and restrained but refined aesthetics. Our server(s) were very friendly and helpful. Not shy of telling us their favourites. This day we were here to celebrate a big bday. So it has to be perfect. The dining partner wasn't disappointed. We started with 3 small bites. Very tiny but interesting. Then followed by the soup of our choice-hot and sour clam and mushroom soup. So so for me, but my dining accomplice enjoyed it. Then next we had 3 main courses to share, curry beef, pork ribs and duck confit salad. Finally followed by 3 sweets. Needless to say we were stuffed. The food was flavourful and well crafted. Seems every aspect of our taste buds has been engaged. Really enjoyed the experience. Felt like being in Thailand and so much more than the average Thai restaurant. The only possible drawback is the noise level. Often scoring over 80 db on my smartwatch. The dude behind me with his long winded monologue gave me a headache. This is probably due to all the reflective hard surfaces of the place. Address that, IMO, it would definitely be a 5 stars joint. One of the best Thai restaurants in GVRD. Highly recommended, but bring ear plugs or anc headphones.

By a friend's recommendation, we made an appointment here on a Sunday evening and was blown away by the chef's tasting menu. When I think of fancy meals at a high price point, I automatically assume that each dish will be small and that I'd leave hungry. I was wrong! At Maenam, not only was the portion perfect for 3 people, the mouth watering and unique flavors from that meal is something we still talk about to this day. Even though we struggled to finish dessert, we did it anyway and did not regret it. The service was unbelievably wonderful! Each person we had the pleasure of speaking with was remarkably kind and never made us plebs feel out of place. If I lived in Vancouver, I'd come here once a month! Perfect for a special occasion, date night, or just a good meal with good people. 10/5 would definitely recommend!

Fancy-ish Thai restaurant in Kitsilano, Michelin recommended for the year. Mid-small interior, has a number of small tables and also seats at the bar. Nice interior. We made the reservation for the chef's tasting menu which is $88 per person, and the portions are for 2 people. On the tasting menu, there are 3 options each for soup, salad, curry, and stir fry. You also get snacks to start, and desserts. The snacks were 3 different one-bite items, each with a different seafood paired with various ingredients. The most notable thing was how sweet some of the snacks were. Next up is the relish, which is prawn coconut and salted egg mix, and they provide some leaves to wrap up the relish. Was refreshing. Moving on to the soup, we got the halibut hot and sour soup. It wasn't really that spicy, but has a nice sour flavor that's not overly sour. Tastes like tom yum with halibut. Next up with the wagyu steak salad, which tasted like a standard salad with beef. The two mains we got were the red curry with smoked duck breast, and the turmeric lamb shoulder stir fry. The red curry was very sweet. The sweetness dominated the flavor of the duck as well. The lamb stir fry was in contrast salty and heavily flavored, and they put some peas in there. Finally, the dessert portion included 3 different items. A sorbet that was tart and refreshing, a brown sticky rice ball that looked a donut hole but was only mildly sweet, and slices of what was a less sweet version of creme brulee. Was an interesting tasting menu. Portions are not big for each item, but they do add up. Among all the items. I liked the soup the most. Service was very attentive throughout.

3.5 stars- I really liked their pad thai initially but the more I sit on it the more I think it's just similar to Thai Basil. Only Thai Basil is much cheaper and the same portion. Their interior are also more elevated so unless it's a specific occasion that requires a better ambiance then maybe head to Thai basil instead

Another fantastic experience at Maenam. Everything was exceptional, but the Duck Laab was a standout. The snacks are always our favorite. The only small miss this time was the Chicken and Morel soup. It was the only thing we've had in all our visits that wasn't great. Very bland and boring. But that was a small piece of an exceptional meal.

This is the teeny tiny dessert

I have my best friend and his partner take me for dinner I'll tell you first what I didn't like which was very little.... I did not like the fact that the portions were on the smaller side and how expensive they were That being said the service was fantastic The food was perfectly seasoned by a professional chef and it was so lovely and so well-balanced I will see this place is expensive it's not cheap... This is a place more for a special occasion but I'm so very grateful that they took me for dinner because everything was great I will have to say the ambience was all right it was nice The food speaks for itself If you only order 2 things there Order their brussel sprouts I know crazy it's a Thai restaurant but they were the best I've ever had in my life And then if I had to pick the second thing it would probablythey're eggplant with their crispy pork Jowl We also have the Krispy rice appetizer that is a 10 out of 10 We had a chicken curry a halibut Rice... The Roti was just okay that was the only thing that I probably wouldn't Order again Instead of having dessert which is super tiny tiny have yourself a cocktail there or a great beer If the prices were 50% less I'd probably be there once a month This is a Michelin star restaurant Once you taste the food you'll know why 9.5 out of 10

YUM! I took my parents here for the chefs tasting menu and everyone was very impressed. We started with the snacks, which were definitely unique. Our favorite was the taco. For our soup, we chose the Tom Kha which I am still dreaming of. The delicata squash was perfect. For our salad we had the duck leg, which had a decent amount of meat on it! We also had the halibut curry, which was the biggest disappointment. It was a much different texture than expected and a little fishy. The rest of the mains we had were delicious though! I will definitely be back next time I'm in Vancouver!!

Came here for a weekend lunch. Made a reservation, which I would recommend as there is limited seating. We chose to do the lunch set menu, which comes with an appetizer, a salad, a curry, and a stir fry for $45 per person. We went with: Tom Kha Coconut Mushroom Soup, Crispy Mushroom Laab, Vegetable Panang Curry, and 3 Flavor Prawn Stir fry. My sister is vegetarian, hence the all the veggie options. The 2 mushroom options weren't my personal taste, but I recognize they were complex and delicious flavors for someone keen on mushrooms. However, the Panang curry was absolutely delicious and I didn't miss the meat flavor at all. The prawn stir fry was deceivingly filling, as the prawns were gigantic! A very savory soy garlic flavor that I enjoyed. I'd love to return and have some more meat options. Although pricey, the quality and freshness of all dishes are very obvious.

Downside was the calamari, the pieces are quite big which make it not as crispy as it would be. Som Tum (Papaya Salad) 3/5 The texture was nice and it tasted refreshing but it is QUITE spicy. I appreciate the authentic Thai spice level but it was too spicy for us. I liked the sourness and I know this rating is a very personal rating based on our spice tolerance. Roti with Curry Sauce 3.75/5 Nice, flaky roti that wasn't too oily. There could be an option to get more noodles but my partner got this and she was satisfied with the amount since there were good chunks of meat. Good heat that creeps up. Roselle Drink 3.75-4.5/5 Great compliment to the dishes as it lightened and refreshed our pallette. Slightly sour. It tasted better with the food than by itself. Thai Milk Tea 3.5/5 Good enough.
