I'm afraid Maggie's has past her prime. On a recent evening visit we were struck by how dirty the place was, and how weak the service was. It wasn't a busy night, but the floors and tables were not clean, our food took forever to arrive, and when it did orders had been messed up. One dining companion had ordered a Rachel and received a Rueben. When she sent it back, they just took off the corned beef and replaced it with turkey - same bread, same cheese, same corned beef juice dripping on the plate. For a family restaurant, we were also surprised that they did not have the appropriate facilities for a family restroom, i.e., a changing table. We had a terrible time trying to change a messy diaper in the restroom without it. Needless to say, it will be a long time before we give Maggie's another visit. read more

Maggie's food is above adequate, I would be happy to give it 4 stars, and when you look up you see a clean like restaurant, but don't look down or Under Tables or between seats absolutely despicable, Dirt and crumbs a vermin heaven. read more

First time here in Minnesota visiting my girlfriends family. We decided to have a pizza night. Being from new York my expectations on pizza anywhere else are always low. Stopped by this little spot on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeting promptly and given menus. They have quite the selection of different options. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive to us. I ordered "WBLT" which was a BLT with Walleye. It was decent. The fish was tad soggy but all in all pretty good. The place could use a once "all over" kind of cleaning, otherwise I was pleased with the overall experience. I would recommend grabbing on the of the seats away from the kitchen. It is an open kitchen and they were fairly busy so there was a lot of noise which I would expect from a kitchen! I could easily see this place being "the Saturday" place for breakfast. We've been coming to Maggie's on and off for about 10 years. Breakfast food has always been good. However, today our experience was terrible. Our server forgot to serve us our drinks, was very unresponsive to our requests, and was vey rude. There are many more congenial places to go for breakfast. WE WILL NOT GO BACK! read more

Oh, Maggie's. The laid back little diner tucked inside a strip mall on the way into Wayzata (from where I live, anyways). I love that I could come here in my pajamas, flip flops and (truly) messy bun on top of my head if I wanted... and I do just that. Their breakfast is good, no-frills food at a good price and sometimes that's all I need on a lazy, early afternoon. I love their pancakes, their omelets and scrambles are decent and you can't go wrong with a typical basic breakfast. Recently, a friend and I were really craving some pizza- I had heard great things about Maggie's pizza, so I suggested we try it out. We ordered a thin crust with two different toppings on each side because we cannot agree on a pizza we'll both like (in my opinion, pineapple does not belong on pizza but that's whole different issue). We were working with a pretty small time frame and were kind of antsy waiting for it but it did not take too long to come out. It was delicious, cheesy, good amount of toppings and hot. It was just what we were looking for and did not disappoint. What did disappoint, though, was the price. For a two- topping large pizza, the menu said something like $18.50. I'm used to most pizza places where they still consider it a two- topping pizza when you split the pizza with two different toppings on each side, not here. The total came out to almost $24 and that was a surprise to me, especially for thin crust. Now, ~$5 is not a big deal at all but that still irked me a bit, although it was delicious, it was not $24 delicious. Oh well, I know for next time. Alas, I will continue going to Maggie's for good, quick, (usually) cheap food. read more

I ate at Maggies twice during my recent time in Wayzata. They are an old school diner, with all of an old school diner's good and bad points. Their service is excellent and fast, from seating, busing, to ringing up at the counter. The food is limited to typical diner breakfasts, so only one style of potatoes, hash browns, American cheese is in rotation, and you can just forget gluten- free. Their omelettes are a bit dry, but I can recommend the Italian themed one. It has pizza toppings like pepperoni and in. Another trick is to have them add extra cheese or add hollandaise sauce. This was my first visit, my wife had recommended it. We went with another couple who had also never been here before. My wife knows I'm pretty picky about pizza, but she had been here before and said the pizza was good. For a mom and pop restaurant, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Our server Emma was friendly and attentive and had a great attitude! We ordered pizzas and everyone agreed that the pizzas were very good. Sorry I didn't take pictures, but if you like Broadway, Detello's, Davanni's or Fireside pizza, you will definitely like this. Prices were very reasonable and in line with most other places. We frequently enjoy Maggies pizza using their fine delivery service. My wife loves the thin crust (for me it's OK). I just discovered yesterday that they have a really excellent hand tossed (that my wife finds just OK - she's really a thin crust fan). They also have a house-special deep dish that matches Marcello's/Angeno's with the ups and downs of perfect/undercooked/overcooked. But when they're perfect, they're unbeatable. Pleasant drivers that don't mash the pizza to one side. Oh - they also deliver a full menu of burgers, chicken, fries, and Italian. Try, enjoy, be a regular. read more

A classic American diner. I went here one morning and got a breakfast containing eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. This is pretty much the standard breakfast for me. The hash browns were done to perfection, and the toast - mmm the toast. I don't know if it was brioche or not, but man is it delicious. I gave Maggie's two chances. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. First, there is no "service." The waitress scowls at everyone who walks in the door. No "Hello" when she greets you. Just pulls out notepad and scowls you down until you just start ordering. As for dinner: the croutons were inedible. Made from the same bread as everything else, but so hard you could break a tooth. Had to pick each one off the salad. Iceberg lettuce salad. Asked for balsamic dressing...waitress didn't know what that was, so obviously, they didn't have it. French toast is made from same bread as garlic bread (it's all just buttered toast basically, except one has syrup on it). Ordered the eggs and hashbrowns with dry toast. Toast came loaded with butter. Hashbrowns came out 10 minutes after my eggs. (Weird). Hubby ordered lasagna. He said he thought it was the Stauffer's frozen lasagna. It was loaded with so much cheese, he had to pull half of it off. As for the breakfast: Received more scowls. Felt like waitress was mad we were in the restaurant. I don't know how this place stays in business. Ordered "extra crispy bacon" (it's the only way my son will eat it). Came out barely cooked and limp. I asked if she could just pop it in the microwave (she did). Pancakes are flat and rubbery (not fluffy). The place seems very unfriendly towards kids too (no crayons or coloring pages) and scowls from the waitress. We won't be going back. read more

We order takeout quite a few times a year. They have good homecooked food, and have been awesome in their customer service. Because it is all freshly made, we come in and wait for takeout - they can be quite busy or backed up for takeout so that avoids issues with waiting if we try to give them unreasonable turnaround times. I ordered 3 eggs scrambles with turkey sausage patties and whole wheat toast....the eggs were scraped off the flat top and dry, the sausage patties were cold! And the toast was barely buttered. I had the sausage reheated, and they came out burnt, with no apology for them coming out cold. There are too many other area restaurants that serve a good breakfast. read more
