This was recommended by my snowshoe guide, he was spot on. For being very busy, we were seated in a reasonable time frame. The host and people taking orders were friendly and chatty. We waited a bit for food, but we came on an incredibly busy weekend and expected this at dinnertime. Our food was delicious! The prices were also very good. Came up to Big Bear to attend the annual October fest festivities went into town to grab a bite to eat all restaurants 2hr wait time. We asked a local resident if there was a pizza restaurant just outside of town they recommend Maggio's, food was good but the service was terrible! I mean TERRIBLE! Menu's weren't handed to us they just tossed them them to us on the table. The servers that brought us our pizzas all had attitudes, no smiles it was as if they didn't want to be there. My recommendation to management is to provide customer service training to their young staff. read more

Had lunch on Monday Aug 13th at this very friendly , clean, family style restaurant. Had fish and chips x-lent, salads are great can be made to order, calzones are huge, and Pizza is the best. Is this the best Italian food ever? No. Nor is it the cheapest. But it is consistently decent, and the service is usually fast and friendly, even if nearly every table is full (which they usually are on the weekends). Maggio's has become our go-to place on the mountain when we're especially hungry after a day of working on the cabin and don't feel like waiting too long for good food. Haven't encountered the "rude" manager that other reviewers have mentioned, but I will update my review if that's ever the case. Its challenging being gluten-free. However, this place has so many options. And the pizza was the best I've ever had!! I believe it was homemade. I didn't try the pasta. Yet. Absolutely terrible service. I took my family to this restaurant, paid $40 for a pizza and two calzones, and after an hour still had not been served. We asked the server the status of our order and we were told that they had "misplaced" the order slip in the discharge bucket. Had we not asked there is no telling how long it would have taken as we never saw our waiter in the hour we were there. At no point was there an apology or an attempt at compensation. When we asked for a refund we were finally told they were sorry it had taken so long, they were just really busy. We will never visit this establishment again. read more

I have been coming here for years and have tried almost everything on the menu with great satisfaction. Last weekend, I called about 20 times before I got through the busy signal to order to go. I was immediately put on hold by Brady for about 10 minutes where I could hear all the commotion in the background. They seriously need a better phone system and to go ordering system. Regardless, I was looking forward to a delicious meal with my friends who I convinced to try this place. When we got back to the cabin, those who tried the combo pizza, all spit out the bite-RAW PIZZA DOUGH! Yuck! Being the snowy conditions, we decided to stay in and salvage what we could by eating off the topping and/or trying to cook the pizza ourselves, which did not work. The next day I brought back the pizza that was not picked apart to show what has happened. The manager lady with short grey hair seemed highly offended, told me the dough was cooked and I was describing the cheese. Then she said this particular pizza had a lot of sauce, making it soggy....ummm, no, there was the same sauce on another pizza that was cooked just fine. Then she said that all the toppings created moisture, making the pizza soggy...RAW DOUGH IS RAW DOUGH. They are too busy to give adequate service and consistent food. The manager needs to accept that her staff is overwhelmed and is making mistakes. And she definitely needs to learn some manners. I'm going the extra mile to Paoli's From now on. We got into town late and needed dinner. Pizza is always a kid pleaser so we called and ordered 1 extra large 1/2 pepperoni & 1/2 mushrooms + baked mostaccioli. The pasta was excellent, plenty of cheese and sauce. Pizza was just okay, lots of pepperoni (which our family does not care for, because we like it to be crispy not piled up in layers), mushrooms tasted very fresh but the dough did not have a lot of flavor. I love Maggio's. The antipasto salad is my favorite. They make their own dressing and it's terrific. I love getting the salad to go just to get a couple containers of the dressing. Their pizza's are excellent. The mexican pizza is my favorite, but be careful because they do not skimp on the hot peppers. The atmosphere is very family friendly and it's always busy no matter when I go in. There's nothing fancy about this place, it's just your local pizza place. We love to dine at Maggio's Italian. We like the pizza, pasta's and salad with grated cheese! Very good italian, but some items are pricey. We feel staff is very friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter and pay in advance, then you seat yourself. Food comes up pretty quick. One time they forgot to put our pizza order in and because of the mistake, they were very apologetic and gave us free stuff. We take family and friends that visit there and so far they all loved their meals. I do wish they would update their website and add discounts. We dine here often, since we live in Big Bear. Where to begin. This place has amazing food and you can special order just about anything. We ordered 2 16" pizzas which were very flavorful. The right amount of sauce with stringy mozzarella cheese. We also ordered the spinach salad which was the bomb. This salad came with spinich, walnuts, cranberries, pancetta, feta cheese, sun dried tomoates with a sweet house vinegertt dressing. If you like salads this is a must try. When you order ham you get a canadian bacon, oh so good. Easily the worst pizza I have ever had. A mountain of gelatinous cheese is used to cover up a soggy crust and flavorless sauce. You can get pizza 100 times better in the frozen food section of your grocery store. It's really awful and the staff are more than a little annoying as well. Don't say I didn't warn you.
