Very disappointed. 31 years ago I celebrated my 16th birthday at this restaurant, at this location. 37 years ago my sister celebrated her 16th birthday at this restaurant, at this location. I called desperately wanting to make a reservation for 4, for my twin boys 16th birthday. Thought it would be AMAZING to have them celebrate where I had and my sister. MTM manager absolutely refused to let us make a reservation, even after I provided our story. I understand that there are rules, but sometimes, just sometimes, there is a time and place to bend them a little. Sometimes costumer service needs to be a little more important than sticking strictly with the rules. I even offered to provide my phone in case he wanted to think about it, he said no thanks.. First off, this is not a place to go if you lack a sense of humor or if you want gourmet food. That being said, it is an excellent place. The environment is awesome, very whimsical & old fashioned- with tons of decor of almost any childhood dream or fantasy. From the Pirate Cove eating area, where Captain Jack Sparrow can be your waiter, to the land of mushrooms where Super Mario can serve you! The servers are top notch and play their party really well! We went for my birthday and were waited on by Mr. Incredible himself! He had magical flying coasters, and seemed to really enjoy the part he played. I had a wonderful night! Food: The food is okay, and you get full- they give you large portions. It was cooked, came out quickly- and presented with some flair. Once again, please don't go here unless you have a sense of humor. Everything is done in fun, and just enjoy yourself. We went in as a large group of 15 for a birthday celebration. There were 5 kids in our group. When you first walk in you think you are in your grandmother's house (in the area you wait), but many people don't know this is a very old building that used to be a school at one point. We had to wait for all of our party to get there (they wouldn't seat partial table). When the last family showed up we still had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated after they called our name, but no big deal. One of the coolest things in this restaurant is the different themes for the table locations and the servers who dress up as characters. There is a Tiki hut, and even a special valentine table. Our server was Mario, whom was very entertaining, did very well for having 4-5 different checks, and stayed in character and made us laugh. He had that NY attitude but he wasn't being rude. He called my friend's beer a baby bottle when he got it, (too funny). The food was very good. I got a 16oz Ribeye which compared to a steak you might get at Saltgrass or TX Roadhouse. I saw 2-3 people who got Prime Rib, who also said it was very good. Overall food was very good and came out in a reasonable time for 15 people. Several of the kids got the famous "bubbling potion" drink, which consists of 2 types of juices and some Sierra Mist (I think). I was a little disappointed because it didn't seem to bubble as much as I remembered from the last time I came hear. Best part of the meal was at the very end where Mario gave the birthday girl 10 different types of b-day songs to choose from (and he truly said he knows them all). She chose the rap, which was actually very cool. He did this all by himself and he appropriately got a round of applause from our table. This is a great restaurant to spend a special occassion like a birthday. There are some menu items available for 12-18 dollars, most of the steaks are 20-30 but worth it in my opinion. read more

Just visited MTM last night (sunday 7-13-14). YUK! This used to be a fun and unique place to eat with good food & service. Not at this time. The food was so-so and the service was awful. Our server Luigi took so long to come to the table we had all chosen our meals. We had all been to the salad bar and finished eating it (some of us with seconds) and STILL did NOT have drinks...not even water. We saw our server twice and asked for our drinks to which we got a nod and "coming". The third time he said they were changing out the syrups...all of them???...but didn't even bring us water! We had only just gotten our drinks (about 30 mins after being seated) when a man (presumably the manager) came by and asked if we had been served. We said no. He asked if we had had our salads. We said yes, but long before we got our drinks. He walked off. Shortly after, we got our food. While we were eating our food, several different servers came by our table. Sadly, all but the tooth fairy look extremely disheveled...almost as if they had slept in their costumes and had just gotten out of bed and come to work. YUK! At some point, a woman came to our table to ask how our evening and meal were. She wasn't at all happy with our saying the food was so-so, but the service was so slooooow. After we told her how slow everything was, she said, "Well, OK, aside from all that, was there anything else?" We said no and she just walked off. Awful service from the top down! Now I haven't been to MTM in many years. Way back then, it was AWESOME...I was 12/13. Last evening my 12 yr old and her friends did NOT (in any way) think the experience was awesome. So sad. Me and my family have been going here for several years now. We have a daughter that is now 5 and absolutely loves it. Everyone on staff that weve meet through out the years hav been very kind and funny.one particular waitress I will point out, she had sung to my daughter to give her a hint to what movie she was from. How cute was that. She sounded just like her character. It is a wonderful experience in my opinion for adults and children. Theres amazing decorative rooms around every corner. I only gave 4 stars because I do think the food could be better for the price and the cleanliness could be alil better to but u have to remember it is a old building. And very popular place. We went here for my sons birthday he enjoyed and he was the only one Im sure of that. We arrived early around 4pm before dinner rush we were still waiting on two others so they wouldn't seat us. Even after they arrived they continued to seat table after table we ended up waiting over an hour. The menu selection is terrible thy don't even sell burgers. What a disappointment. This is not your father's Magic Time Machine. It's been years since I've been and remembered this place to be really fun with great food. When we walked in on a Sunday night there must have been a million kids there. I asked what was with all the children and they said they are going to more of a family friendly atmosphere. I'm ok with children but the salad car was a disaster. It looked like 100 5 year old had attacked it. There was food everywhere and it looked really unappetizing. I ordered the MTM Filet with a side order baked potato (an extra $2.99). The baked potato was really dry and the filet was about the size of a half dollar. The appetizer we ordered the shrimp pecayune was terrible. Small shrimp and over seasoned. The total bill with two drinks was over $70. I wouldn't have paid $20 for it. I will not return. read more

1st time hear went for my grand daughters birthday , the place smelled musty love the furniture all those couches tho . It was not very busy on a Monday night so that was great . Now for the food: salad bar was small it could have been a little better , apps : very limited needs to be a little more kid friendly . Main meal : very limited for kids and adults needs to add burgers , onion rings , Mac and cheese maybe chicken fried steak the menu needs updated badly . Magic Time Machine was a wonderful change of pace for dinner with two kids! We were all entertained the whole time. Our server, Prince Charming and helper Cinderella were amazing. They stayed very true to character the entire dining experience. The food portions were huge and tasted delicious! The bubbling potion drinks were a nice touch as well! We went to Magic Time Machine on Saturday, for my daughter's 10 birthday. Imagine her surprise when Katniss came to our table! I thought she was going to come unglued. When Katniss brought some friends over to sing to my daughter, my son squealed "Mario!!!!" The food came out promptly, and was very good. A photographer stopped by for a picture, and when she returned, she presented us with two photos. One was a nice photo of my family, which I didn't purchase. The other was the same, only our faces were scrambled! My daughter and I had each others faces, and my husband and son's were switched. Hilarious!! The photo was $10 and I gladly purchased it. My kids had a blast, walking around the restaurant to get autographs. On the way home, my daughter kept telling me how happy she was. It's Tuesday, and she's still talking about it. read more

What a fun evening. Kinley had such a great time. Jessie,Rapunzel, Joy and wreck it Ralph were so nice and helpful. The only complaint is that we weren't in the right room that we had booked party of eleven supposed to be one table not a seven top round and a booth. We were told that jasmine was gonna wait On us that wasn't the case. They said that they had no more princesses working so we could choose Jessie or little red riding hood. Jessie was great but Rapunzel was there is she not a princess? So to sum everything up the servers kicked butt. We had a great time. The atmosphere, decor, and characters set a great mood for a fun time. Our waitress though made it a 5 star experience. We had "Jessie" and she was amazing. We were a party of 23, 7 different checks, a table of kids and 2 tables of adults. She didn't mind the separate checks and kept up with which child belonged to which parent. Had a reservation at 6 for a party of 14. I was told we couldn't be seated till the entire party was here so we waited 10 minutes and everyone showed up. We sat waiting for our table for 45 minutes then we were told I never had a reservation even though I called 6 day's in advance and showed where I called. Finally after another 25 minutes they got as a table....... So we thought. We followed the hostess half way through the restaurant was then told they didn't have enough seats and now had to stand and wait till they had something ready. I'm still standing here as I write this review and it's 7:35. It been over a hour and a half since I showed up and I'm still standing here. This place use to be awesome but now I highly recommend you stay away from the over priced food and sorry management staff. If I could give less than one star I would read more

The only reason why this place gets 1 star is the characters. Luigi was funny with others. Other than that stay away. The food, drinks, smells, dingy, expensive. The kids potion drinks were so sugary that they stayed untouched like everything else we ordered. The seafood stuffed ribeye was disgusting. The seafood portion almost made us puke. The kids did not touch their pizza or chicken fingers. I can't blame them. It took 40 mins to get a table. I get it, it's a popular place. But when we walked out, there was a line out the door waiting to be seated!! Really?! Are these people from out of town? First timers? They can't be regulars!! Really!! As we walked away in disgust. We noticed we all smelled like the dirty time machine. The smell of nasty food and cigarette from upstairs penetrated our clothes that we had to go all the way back home to change. My family and I went to this restaurant in Dallas while we were visiting. It was amazing!!! Not your average restaurant!! When we first walked in we weren't so sure about the place. we had a choice to pick out our theme. We picked superman!!! We loved it!!!! He really gets into his character!! Food was a 7/10 though. My food was ok my family members would like to disagree. Up stairs was cool though is very dark and the bathroom was kind of weird but it was a totally awesome experience. We were visiting friends and decided to take our kids (4 boys under 5 yrs) because of the atmosphere. We were seated right away after making a reservation weeks in advance. This was the only good thing about this place. The service was incredibly slow. And while out with kids that doesn't work well. My son ordered the pizza. Which was basically a pita bread with sauce and cheese. (we are from Chicago.....thats not pizza). My husband had the fish and shrimp. The catfish was not cooked right (although seasoned very well) I had the salmon and veggies. It was so soaked in juice it felt like it was a soup. The entertainment factor i would give a 0. Our server was not attentive to our needs (you don't bring adult cups with no lids to 3 year olds.) We were waiting so long for our bill that husbands took the kids to the car for 10 mins before we even had the check. And thats when the fun entertainment started. I almost didn't go after reading some of the reviews...I'm glad I ignored them and went anyways! Two adults, two teens, and one five year old. I didn't smell anything weird or old when I walked in. We maybe waited 5-10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress (Ariel- Little Mermaid) sat us in the Carousel and it was beautiful. We got our food in maybe 15-20 minutes and while we waited we walked to the salad bar until our food arrived. We went for the atmosphere and that itself was a great experience. The staff is super friendly and the place is fun to look at. We went on Sunday and don't know if we got lucky but there was an artist who was doing picture drawings of people's faces and we also had a balloon artist so you can imagine how much fun we all had. A camera man walks around the tables taking photos and the pictures are hilarious when they switch your faces around, we definitely wanted to buy those. We spent about $150 including tip, pictures and extras for five of us which was worth the money for the fun we had since we were celebrating a birthday. I cannot imagine what type of person would give this place a bad review, probably someone very high maintenance that wouldn't know fun if it hit them in the face. We all loved it! This is more of a child at heart and kid friendly atmosphere, and although many parents were buying alcoholic beverages I wouldn't say it's a Guys or Girls Night Out type of place. Our family went here for the first time today for my son's 14th birthday. We had "Gru" as our server. Funny guy and in great in character. Food was pretty decent. We got a Restaurant.com gift card ($20 for $50 gift card) to use here. We went around 1:30 on a Saturday, so we beat the crowds. We had to spend $100 with the gift certificate deal, so in the end I think we paid $70 with tip or somewhere close to that...which included 4 meals, regular soft drinks/tea, soup, salad and desserts, which was pretty decent. Everyone liked their food. The atmosphere was nice. My son said he liked how we were in our own little room so it was quieter and more private so we enjoyed that aspect. It was fun and my son liked it. They did not offer a free dessert for my son's birthday but they sang a short song for him. Jack Sparrow also came to bring the dessert also and was in perfect character as well. This was a good place to say "been there, done that" kind of thing. I don't think we'll go often, but it was fun for a special occasion for young ones and something different to do. We relocated here from Denver and it reminded me a little of Casa Bonita back home in terms of it having a bit of a run-down feel about it...it could use an update on the decor. But it was a theme-type restaurant and it delivered what we expected. I had the Broiled Salmon with veggies and it was very good. I was hesitant to try this place out based on some of the reviews, so already going in I had a biased opinion thinking it wouldn't be that great. I was wrong! Im not sure what people are really complaining about. Because the salad bar was a little messy? Or the characters costume had a stain on it? These are petty things to be basing your review on. The salad bar will be messy, there's how many kids going through there, kids are not usually the neatest or most careful. The food is priced well, the staff is having fun playing their characters. These are just regular people trying to entertain you and I thought they did an awesome job. We will be returning, very fun! read more

Incredibly unique in every way. We loved the crazy, whimsical atmosphere that made us feel like kids. The manager was friendly and the food was great. I enjoyed their Green Potion drink and all sorts of themed drinks. All the servers were in character and the booths and tables have different themes. So fun!! Our server was kinda a flake, but it was busy and we really had a fabulous time overall. She gave us a tour at the end and took us up to the bar and told us ghost stories about the building. Went Saturday November 17, 2012 We went with a party of 14, 7 being kids and had a FABULOUS time!!! The place was nice and clean (No bad smell as other reviews stated). The food was great, the staff was great! We all can't wait to go again!!!! I highly recommend going there. The decorations of each table area are AMAZING! The kids were in heaven!!! Such a funtime. Magic Time Machine has the best karaoke I've seen in a along time upstairs in the Blue Lounge. They have the new Karaokevibe App for song requests and submission the DJ. I can send my song request while sitting at my table from my phone. There is also an awesome kiosk that allows singers to enter songs as well. Friday nights Karaoke are a blast. read more
