Found a matcha spot in South Congress and decided to give it a try! I got the magik matcha (the blue one) 16oz. It's a little pricey but the matcha flavor was good (usually I prefer it a bit stronger though). You can taste the vanilla syrup flavor so make sure you stir really well before you take a sip! The drink overall was refreshing, especially on a hot summer day! Just be aware that the lid where the straw goes in is super stiff so it might break your straw if you try to stir it too hard. I finally got to try Magick Matcha on South Congress, and the place was really tiny. You order out of the window and they'll make it inside. I tried the Banana Pudding Matcha, I thought it would have the pudding on the top (like the dessert) but it was blended in the drink instead. It was $9+ but it just tasted like the Korean banana milk you could get at Hmart. I couldn't taste the matcha at all, and they also didn't have whipped cream on top. There was only one person working at the time so it took a bit for the drink to come out. Personally, I wouldn't come back since there's La La Land right down the road. read more

This matcha place is window pick-up only. They have lots of options to choose from. I decided to try their Magick Matcha and man it was so good. Their matcha is not extremely sweet like most places. Walking Congress, I worked up a thirst for some ube matcha. This was a walk up window located right on the main street. Loved the combo of ube and matcha, two of my absolute faves. I added oat milk for $1 extra. Although the drink was yummy, it was rather expensive for a small cup that included ice $8.25. One of my favorite matcha spots in Austin!! Come here every time I want a really sweet matcha, since their banana pudding matcha BLEW MY MIND!! It's super quick and easy to order, u just go up to the little hole in the wall and order then the girls making the drinks r super fast! They even ask if u want THC in ur drink (I have never tried it!) but saw some people ordering in front of me! Super cool spot on congress!!! read more

Rating: 3.5/5 We got a 16 oz Iced Magick Matcha ($8.25) with CBD (+$2), which felt pricey given the ice-to-liquid ratio. We asked for it to be a bit sweeter, and they added vanilla syrup for an extra $1--something the cashier didn't mention upfront. That said, it did taste much better and helped mask the CBD flavor. The texture was smooth (not grainy this time), and the matcha had a beautiful, vibrant green color. read more

Magick Matcha is BOMB. My friend was in town visiting and read about it so we went, and I liked the variety on the menu. I had a seasonal drink which was the banana matcha (comes with banana cream and a nilla wafter - it was super sweet but combined GREAT with the matcha). My friend had the blue magic matcha which is basically made with spirulina to give it the blue color. You could taste it a bit, but it's subtle. They had an ube matcha I also wanted to try - will have to go back another time. Of note, it is literally just a coffee window in Congress, there is nowhere to sit and it is right in the sun. There's also only one person working and she was great/friendly/helpful but that means after someone orders, everyone waits to order while she makes those drinks so it can take a while. Nevertheless - I was super satisfied with my drink and my friend loved hers (both $8 each). Would def come back! read more

Came here on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all, which made ordering quick and easy. I tried the Magik Mellow. I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet - that's always a plus for matcha drinks. Unfortunately, it tasted super diluted, and the bold matcha flavor I was hoping for didn't really come through. What really missed the mark for me was the price. It felt pretty overpriced, especially since there's no seating area or added experience. I wasn't quite sure what justified the higher cost. The only other place I know you can get a matcha is at Joes on the strip so I was so excited to see this place because I love matcha. I'll also say it's harder to find different takes on matcha and so I loved that this menu was dedicated to various matcha preparation. While there is some educational papers on the window they never say it's ceremonial grade and the preparation is more fun and pretty as opposed to serious cup BUT it was pretty and delicious, so I'm not complaining. I got a small, which is 12 oz. You do need to completely stir the drink in order to evenly mix the beverage even though the ombré looks pretty and if you're not looking, you will pass this place so quickly. I would love to try some more flavors and maybe some add ins. read more

I enjoyed the matcha here a lot! It was creamy and just the right amount of matcha intensity for me. I usually prefer drinks like this to be lighter. It's also just really cute and on SoCo so it's perfect if you're visiting already. I will say it is a bit pricey. And at the time there was only one worker so the wait was quite a while since they were taking orders and also making the drinks. read more

This was like a tiny little counter hole-in-the-wall. I hesitated because there was just one person behind the window making each drink and there was a line on this very cold day, but I really wanted a matcha latte and I didn't want to veer too far from this main stretch of stores. I got the Pink Dream. The matcha quality was good, and everything was mixed silky-smoooth. That's pretty much all I look for in an iced matcha latte. The beet flavor was strong, a little stronger than I had anticipated. But I guess, in retrospect, the matcha is also earthy, so I see the complement. The strawberry flavor is not quiet as strong. I think this place is worth trying if you partake in all of the extras you could add to the drinks here. For me, I don't, so I would not go out of my way to visit here. read more

Hole in the wall with great matcha drinks! I am a tea lover and was really interested in the speciality drinks they have. The Magick Matcha includes blue magick, which has a lovely sweet flavor, and coconut water. After I drank most of the blue, I mixed the drink and was able to taste a lot of matcha. If you like the more authentic matcha, this is it. The matcha is from Japan and has the traditional bitter tea taste. Also tried the hojicha, which was wonderful too! The drinks have a strong tea flavor, especially at the end. You can choose the type of milk you want. Almond and oat cost more. Two sizes, get the 16oz for sure! It's $1 more. You may also add CBD or THC for a few extra bucks (I didn't in my drinks). It's kinda difficult to see where it's at if you're just looking from the street, but if you are walking around Allens Boots, you'll see the green sign. There was a line, but it took about 10 min to get our drinks-pretty quick! I would love to come back again the next time I'm passing by Soco! read more

I LOVE this place. I've been multiple times, tried multiple menu items, and have always enjoyed my experience. It's the definition of hole in the wall, just a little walk up window on SoCo. If you're shopping around and in need of a refreshment, this is the place. Drinks: I've had the ube matcha and the blue magick. The ube is my favorite but the blue magick is a very close second. They are on the sweeter side so if that's not your thing, I would suggest the lemonade or a more classic matcha drink which they also have. Parking: Paid street parking only. read more

I came here with my girlfriend after a stroll down Congress on a hot day and the drinks were incredible. The store operates out of a little hole in the wall window next to the boot barn. There was a considerable line when we arrived, but we were in line for no more than 10 minutes. I ordered the lemonade match and my girlfriend got the pink matcha. Both matchas tasted excellent. I could tell they used high quality ceremonial grade matcha. The service was also excellent and prices very reasonable for matcha. I would return here on a trip back to Austin. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there were a bunch of people waiting to order. It took a while for them to make our drink, but I think it is worth the wait. We ordered the magick matcha and hojicha latte - I really enjoyed the hojicha latte because it is not very sweet. The magick matcha is a bit on the sweet side and I'm not the biggest fan of the coconut water at the bottom. Overall, I think it is worth a four star considering the fact that it is more expensive than most coffee shops in the area. Parking is very tricky on Congress during the weekend so I highly recommend you coming during the weekdays or do a rideshare. read more

Tried the magick matcha and it was pretty good. You can really taste the coconut and vanilla flavor and it's a sweeter drink for sure but I feel like it's easy to miss the matcha. It's a nice drink when it's hot out and you're walking around for sure! It's a small order window between two other stores so I didn't notice it at first but I think it's a cool concept. Dropped by here today while on soco & I am soooo glad I did! I've passed this a few times & today was the day. I got the pink dream (matcha with strawberry) & it was DELICIOUS!! The staff at the window was so kind, we briefly talked about how this year is the year of being outside more & going to parks :) I think it's brilliant to have just a Togo window as a lot of people enjoy walking down soco with a drink. I have never had matcha as bad as this one. I got the magic mellow and the strawberry dream. The strawberry dream was extremely bitter and the other one slightly better. Before mixing the matcha, the flavor concentrate at the bottom was good. But after mixing it was basically inedible. I do not understand the hype. I couldn't even finish the matcha. I've been in the morning to this location several times. I love the staff and the drinks are so good. I also really like the vibe of the spot, it feels really authentic. I would recommend going half sweet for the drinks, as that is my preferred sweetness level. My favorites are (in no particular order)... I really liked this matcha experience! It exceeded expectations. We got the magick matcha and the hojicha latte. The magick matcha had layers of flavor with the light coconut, syrup, and salt. The hojica was deep/comforting from the roasted matcha, though my bf noted that the ice was a bit more melted than the magick upon serving. Neither were too sweet. Was in town & saw this place on tiktok. It's a small little shop with no inside seating, quite easy to miss if you're not intentionally looking for it. Service was quick & efficient. The drinks however were below average in my opinion. My sister and I got the OG (matcha and coconut water) and the magick matcha. While they were pretty for pictures, the matcha flavor was pretty much nonexistent. We're used to having strong, ceremonial grade matcha and unfortunately, this was no where near it. And for $14 for two cups, I don't think I'll be coming back. I do love the concept & the aesthetic though. This place could benefit from higher quality matcha for sure. read more

Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint.
