Magoos is down the street from my house so it is my usual pizza spot. Recently however I have been trying out other pizza places just to see what else is out there. Continually I find myself comparing the crust, the amount of sauce and the topping ratio to Magoos. This has really made me realize how much I like Magoos pizza. I love love love this location, the owners are extremely friendly, kind and remember you when you come back. I know pizza can be a bit of a debate for people, I love pizza and I love their pizza that's why we come back for dining in or ordering for delivery. It's usually just my husband & I coming in for a lunch on a Sunday, or a Friday night. They can handle large groups which we've had from time to time. Be prepared if it's a Friday or Saturday they can be pretty busy. We order a 1/2 Hawaiian 1/2 pepperoni & artichoke we get a small because it's a good size for small. We also get an order of potato wedges (very large order for 2)they have the best coating super crunchy which are baked not fried. There is also a great salad bar that we usually order while dining in it's always stocked with fresh lettuce, veggies etc. if you like wings they have pretty darn good ones along with fried chicken. If you don't like pizza they have some great hot sandwiches whatever your cravings they have it. Also if you love sports they always the best games on, with lots of TVs to view them on. This is not about their food, which is great. This is about an indirect interaction with a manager (?) at the District Avenue location. Yesterday evening, May 7, 2021, I ordered a pizza, chicken, and wedges. We were in the back of our house when the delivery driver rang the door bell, which we didn't hear. I went out front to see if the driver was there a short time after I ordered. He was and he said he rang the door bell. I apologized and told him I didn't hear it. He asked to verify my credit card information because they couldn't process the transaction. I did. In the middle of verifying my credit card number, a voice with a middle eastern accent came over a handheld radio, saying, "Is he there?" The driver said yes. "The middle eastern voice yelled, " F**k that motherf****r!" I was shocked! The driver replied he was there and taking care of it, and apologized to me. Really? Who does this? I loved the pizza here; it was my forst time here and I was really impressed. Pizza, breadsticks, chicken, potatoes...all a cut above other local pizza places. Service is weird. ONE register, one employee working it, and one very long line. One very overworked soda machine, with only 5 flavors. It took a long time to get to the front of that line. I would not recommend this restaurant. Here is my opinion of the pizza: Crust: Dense, cardboard-like and flavorless. Reminds me of really cheap frozen pizza crust. Sauce: Not sure because there was so little of it. Extremely dry pizza. Cheese: Same as sauce. If you like cheese, you'll need to order extra. Toppings: We ordered a large combination. The toppings were good and plentiful. Other: This was the saltiest pizza I've ever tasted. I only ate 1 slice and the salt lingered for hours. Unusual for me to complain about salt because I love it and use it generously. The wings were average in flavor and on the small side. For the $35 we spent for the 2 of us, I'd definitely go somewhere else the next time I'm in Bakersfield. read more

I love the food, but a recent bad experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. My wife and I ordered delivery the other night and after just over an hour, called Magoo's to find out where it was. The person who answered argued that it had been delivered already. The driver then got on the phone and insisted he delivered to us. I informed him that he did not and he drove over to confirm. Once he arrived, he realized that he delivered to the neighbor's house instead (even though we both have lit address numbers on the house) and that they accepted the deliver and even signed the credit card slip. This could have been avoided easily. He should have realized that two teenage boys are unlikely to have the same name as my wife and asked for her by name. He could also have asked to see the credit card used to order (as all other pizza places do). Magoo's offered to re-deliver the next night, not refund (they had shut down their ovens for the night) and I had to refuse and insist on a refund to get it. I'm rating three stars because they do have good pizza, when it shows up at the correct house. read more

Please fix your customer service skills it seems like the people in the front are really really rude. A tall Indian man middle aged was taking orders at night today. He is the reason why my visit was rated 1. First he was rude when I asked him how long it will take. Then when I got my order he went back to co workers in the back and mumbled something about how I was requesting utensils and all of them laughed. This is why I go to amigos pizza over Magoos.
