Recommended by a mutual friend, we were eager to try. Enjoyed our meal with 2 other couples so had many flavors to sample. Starting with the assorted treats platter, which included both veggie and meat samosas, chicken pakora, veggie pakora and aloo tikki. Everything was good. The veggie samosa was better than the meat (a bit dry). Loved the veggie pakora and aloo tikki. For the mains we had a bit of everything. Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken coconut Korma, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Masala, Saag Paneer, Channa Masala and Chettinad Curry. The consensus at the table was that food was all wonderful and flavorful. Our friends don't like hot food so they opted for "mild" heat. I suspect the dishes would be even more flavorful if prepared as intended, with some spice. I ate both the Saag Paneer and Channa Masala, both were really good. Rich and flavorful. I did try the Tandoori Chicken, while good, it wasn't prepared the way I had seen tandoori chicken traditionally served. The restaurant is beautiful inside. Clean, welcoming and plenty of seating. The art/decor around the restaurant was quite unique. The wait staff did a great job. They could have smiled a bit more but more of a nit than an issue. Excellent service, an extensive menu full of delicious options, and one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in! This was our second visit, and it did not disappoint. We showed up with a group of seven, were seated immediately, and everyone was thrilled with the experience from start to finish. The vegetarians in our group especially appreciated the many options available for them. The mango lassi was absolutely perfect, and every dish we tried was incredible. Hubby and I have tried other highly rated Indian restaurants in Reno and this one is the BEST by far. We tried the Aloo Matar, Lamb coconut korma, Chicken Pasanda, and Cucumber Riata with Garlic Naan and Peshawari Naan - all delicious! Medium heat was good for us - and was medium. After being seated immediately, we were greeted by friendly waiters ready to take our order. The lighting and set up was impressive, water was already awaiting us at the table!! The menu had so many options, it was impossible to decide what to get. At the end of the day, I had to order the classic chicken tikka masala and cheesy garlic naan. As I sat there eating bite after bite, I couldn't help but genuinely feel that is the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had in my life. Racist? In mid town? Wow what a difference from the last couple of visits. Different staff. Rude, condescending, and telling your female guest to stop talking while she's trying to order for the table is rude and racist. How dare you! Yes we asked to move away from the AC blowing onto us which obviously seemed like an inconvenience to you although you had plenty of space as 90% of your tables were empty. Then telling us we were too loud once we moved and needed to stop, and we weren't loud or obnoxious; we haven't even had anything but water and it was 5:45pm! End of work day. Yes we were a mixed group of gay and straight. Sad that this place seems to not like that nor respect women (never a problem before). It's always fun to try a new spot! We ventured to this restaurant around 6pm on a Thursday night and had no wait. There is a parking lot in the back (always a plus when in midtown) and we were assisted right away. It's very clean inside and the tables are set nicely. The menus are also large and there are so many options. We ended up ordering the Vegetable Samosas to start and they were delicious. The sauces they came with were tasty as well, although I preferred the darker sweeter sauce and my husband preferred the green cilantro sauce. We both ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and you can choose your spice level for each entree - I got the medium spice level which was perfect, and my husband got the hot level (honestly was way too spicy). He ate it but definitely struggled through how hot it was! A side of rice came with our meal and it was plenty. We also got the Garlic Cheese Naan which was amazing! We ordered 2 orders of the naan, but honestly might have been fine with 1 order for 2 people. We'll be back! Yum! read more

First time at Maharaja! Got meat samosas. Came out super hot and you get two GIANT pieces. The basil mango chicken is DELICIOUS. Give me a bowl of that sauce. We placed a large order over the Christmas holidays and were impressed with the quality of the food. I think we ordered pretty much every dish they make. Rich creamy sauces had a lot of flavor. Overall, Reno has excellent Indian food options but this place is now my favorite. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the chicken tikka kadahi, aloo palak, and garlic naan. All of it was incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The service was attentive and helpful and the ambiance was lovely. What can I say except everything was perfect? The restaurant is very large and tastefully designed. Everything is comfortable and inviting. It's a wee bit dark inside though. The service is incredibly attentive. Your water is always full and you never feel forgotten. The menu is easy to navigate with many delicious options at very affordable prices. The food. I love Indian food. But I do have to say, I'm a little bit of a baby when it comes to spice. So usually, when I order, I get mild to be on the safe side. When we ordered the chicken tikki masala I asked for it mild, however, the waitress insisted we get the medium. As well as maharaja paneer that we also got medium. It was a little too spicy for our liking and wish I would've stuck to my original mild decision. The flavors were good, just personally too spicy for me! The decor is great and fun. Heard many good things about this place, so we finally made it out with a friend. We all love Indian food, and were pretty spoiled with the Bay Area selections, so we were curious how this new-ish place would compare. We ordered three entrees, an appetizer sampler and a naan. All delicious! I was a bit worried about my husband ordering a vindaloo, but it was also very flavorful and the spiciness was not overwhelming. Also the leftovers we took home fed us next day for dinner. The decor is very charming. It was a weekday but they seemed to have a great business. The service is kind and wonderful. Everybody needs to run to this place immediately! I wish that I could give them more stars because it is very well deserved. From beginning to end our experience was exceptional. The service was beyond incredible, and they were so attentive to anything we needed at any given time. We were there for lunch early in the day and only the second couple in the restaurant. I can't speak to what it is like later in the day or evening but our experience was unforgettable, and I cannot wait to go back to try so many more dishes and desserts. The entire restaurant is so beautiful and intimate. The music was incredible and playing softly while we enjoyed our lunch. I highly recommend the Assorted Snacks to start with. It was such a great way to begin and try certain things, like the chicken pakora without ordering the full size. Now that I've had it, I will absolutely be getting the full order next time. Not one single thing about the entire appetizer plate was disappointing at all, and I need more of it in my life along with the Mango chutney. Definitely use the mint chutney for the meat samosa specifically it pairs so well with each other. The onion kulcha was interesting to try. It had alittle too much onion for my taste, but it still tasted great when mixed with the incredibly tender Lamb curry and rice. I mean fall apart when barely pressing your fork to it kind of tender. So good! And the flavors were not overly done either. We felt like we were in someone's house enjoying a meal that they get to have with their families daily. We finished with the Galub Jamun dessert which is like a cold donut sprinkled with coconut and resting in a light rose syrup. I've had it before where it was warm and I think I prefer the warm option over cold, but the flavor was still excellent and must be tried no matter what. Amazing Indian food, the best in Reno for sure! We tried 4 or 5 different dishes and they were all great except for one that lacked a little flavor. The samosas and mint chutney were great, we ordered 2 orders so that we could get one for each person in our party of 4. The inside of the restaurant is pretty dark, but I get that it is part of the vibes. It does feel a little odd to walk into a dark place in the middle of a very sunny day. Not that it's going to stop me from coming here again. We didn't try any drinks so I can't speak that. I asked if they offered any lacrosse-free drinks and unfortunately they don't. That would be something I'd appreciate in the future! The servers were super friendly, attentive and the food came out fairly quickly and everything tasted super freshly made. Checked out this newly opened restaurant and was so impressed. First of all I was skeptical how the vibe would be as I had seen the previous bar. They have done a spectacular job with the remodel. Not just a slap of paint and cleaning up. The whole place is so stylish with murals, door archways, light fixtures, bathroom, glassware etc. service was incredible all around and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about what was gluten friendly. Their menu is also clearly marked for gluten, dairy and vegan. They use chickpea flour so many things I can't usually have were gluten free like dosa, fried onion and potato patties. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more from the extensive menu. One thing to note: our server told us they don't always have a bartender so you can't always get cocktails. Had a real hankering for Chicken Tikka Masala so I ordered some delivery from Maharaja. I ordered it hot and got some garlic naan. The food was at my door in 30 min and the naan was in a little tin bag to keep it warm! The curry was definitely spicy! Just the right heat! The flavors were good too. I'm happy to report the chicken was also nicely cooked! Too often I find the chicken to be chewier than a dog toy. Not here. I'm excited to come back (in person!) and try more things with my friends. Loved the hand drawn murals on the wall. Instant wow factor. For food we got the pineapple shrimp and chicken coconut korma with naan of course. Pineapple shrimp was sweet, you can definitely taste the pineapple and there were chunks which was a good addition. We were a fan of the chicken coconut korma. Very flavorful, definitely would recommend to try it when you're there. Service was fine, but I will say it did feel like we were being rushed. It wasn't busy inside the restaurant so we were a bit confused on why we were being pushed through each step of the meal quickly. Gayle and I love Indian food, so when our friends suggested that we dine together at Maharaja Royal Bites (MRB), we jumped at the chance. This brought back memories of how much better one previous Indian meal was after a particular intense Yoga session. We very much enjoyed the ambiance and Northern Indian food at MRB, although I thought that the attentive service had occasional training and translation challenges. We ended up over ordering, as delicious appetizers (and Naan) can turn out to be a hunger trap when the mains arrive. Yet, the next meal(s) left overs were most welcome at home. MRB's main slogan is that their food is "Fit for a King", of which several menu items mark that. Does that mean that the unmarked menu items aren't? Not to worry, as it was all good. Here's what we ordered, enjoyed, and didn't always finish: - Garlic Naan - Meat Samosa - Assorted Appetizer Snacks - Classic Chicken Curry - Chicken Pasanda - Mutton Curry - Chicken Kabab Masala While others had wine, I figured that the best adult beverage for and evening of Indian Food was a 24 ounce bottle of TAJ.
