Lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and rice

Maharaja made for a wonderful Mother's Day treat for Fritzie. First and foremost the food is great. There's no complaints there, but they didn't have Bhindi Ali, their Okra dish, it saddened me some. The rest of the meal I hoped would make up for it. We enjoyed their sampler (assorted snacks) which were an assortment of meat samosa, veggie samosa, chicken pakora, veggie pakoras and Aloo tikki. Delicious yet sizable bites to get you going. Their Lamb Curry, wonderfully made, tender. The sauce it was made with was delicious, the protein itself was gamy as to be expected, but day two after taking some home and eating it, not as much. Their Saag Paneer is what you would expect from most Indian restaurants, served piping hot, good cubes of cheese for texture and added flavor. Their Chicken Tikka masala was delicious, creamy, flavorful along with their garlic naan and of course we had to get Mango Lassis to drink. These are go to's in my opinion to determine your experience. They have to get these right and they didn't disappoint. The service was good, our waiters and hosts were kind and accommodating, I even got a little bit of history behind some of their wall art, the ambience was average, plenty of patrons holding conversations, enjoying meals, the music wasn't too loud from what I can recall, but it definitely carried the average volume. All in all, a wonderful visit. I recommend you try it for yourself.

Ambiance was so tastefully and beautifully done. We came in here just to fulfill my tea craving. But so disappointed, it was not steep and was mostly milk, sure there was masala. I drove a bit in the hopes of finding a good tea and paid close to $7 for a very subpar chai.

Service 3/5, food 5/5 so average of 4/5! We came on a Tuesday night and this place was HOPPING! Good sign!! They couldn't seat us right away but offered to get us into a booth within 5 or so minutes. We sat in the bar until our booth was ready. We started with the snack (appetizer sampler platter) and loved it! Then we got the lamb korma and chicken kabob and both were amazing. Stand out hit was the garlic cheese naan, yumm-o! Service was lacking - we weren't checked on very often and our waters were never refilled. BUT the food was a total flavor bomb so it is still worth returning!

One of the best Indian spots in Reno! We love coming here. The service is fast. Staff is friendly and attentive. The naan bread is always soft. Love that they carry Coke Zero! We always order saag paneer, aloo gobi and tikka masala. It's a cute spot for date night since it's dark and moody. You must check this place out!

Such a delightful place. The ambiance is all maharaja-like with paintings and decor. Service is respectful and professional - food also comes out in time and they don't make you wait super long. It came out really yummy and fresh. Ordered: chicken 65, garlic naan & bullet naan, chicken tikka kadhai, rasmalai, malai kulfi. The menu also has some interesting fusion items like a pineapple sauce dish, lamb mushroom, etc.

This place is beautiful!! We celebrated my mother's birthday and had an amazing experience here. The food came out great . The service was quick and attentive. My mom had never tried in Indian flavors and although only my first time here they made an impression. She now loves Indian food. Thank you to the staff for making her night special!

1/27/26 After a long day of running around and appointments , I knew I wasn't going to cook. Craving Indian food (since my visit to Japan)... Very excited to stop in.. Went with the vegetable pakora and the cauliflower... yummm! Hubby wanted the goat and I went with the chicken tikki masala.. Rice was nice and fluffy.. Everything was really good- and the garlic naan.. Would like to try the strawberry lassi.. but I'm so full...

My kids came with this time and enjoyed the pineapple shrimp curry and the mango curry (I forget the unique name of the mango dish but on the menu it had a crown icon and was not the mango one with the basil)-- both entrees were ordered in mild. These flavors were completely new to me, I've never had curries from an Indian restaurant that tasted like these. The pineapple curry was sweet but a little tangy and reminded me a bit of Thai curry (perhaps turmeric was really elevated in this curry?). The mango curry was also very sweet, it almost tasted like a sweetened butter chicken curry (specifically the northern Indian version of butter chicken-- if you know, you know). My son said the sweet flavor of the mango chicken curry reminded him of orange chicken from Chinese takeout and funny enough I thought it actually kinda did too! While these dishes were a hit with the kids (ages 7, 5, and 2) most adult tastebuds would prefer ordering them with at least some spice to balance out the intense sweetness (otherwise it can just seem "1 note"-- but 1 note "mild" was absolutely perfect for our young children who find even ground black pepper to be "spicy" haha). Maharaja Royal Bites, you just keep impressing me! I'm super happy we found these kid friendly options in your menu. Oh, ps, the kids LOVED their fried chicken appetizer too! Yelpers, ahelpful tip, we've noticed that here a "mild" spicy level can vary based on the dish. Sometimes it means literally no spice (like in the kid-friendly pineapple shrimp and mango curry) and other times we have found that it meant "yes, there is spice, and it's certainly more noticeable than black-- or even white ground-- pepper).

Excellent. What a beautiful space. The murals on the wall are so well done painted great artwork. Service is so kind and inviting. Food is fantastic. Ordered two entrees, one lamb and one chicken. Cooked in tomato and butter sauce and seasonings. So tasty and goes well over rice. Mix it all up. Or order some naans to dip in the sauce. Onion naan was amazing, the red onion pieces were cut up finely and cooked INTO the naan which is so unique. A bit of crunch when you bite the onion and you can smell and taste it too. Had a great time, Tried Some Indian sides $2-$3 each, like pickled vegetable and papadum (crispy, very thin salty crackers)

I came here with a colleague on a business trip, so I wasn't expecting much, but when we first walked in, we were welcomed with celebration, as we came in during Diwali. The restaurant itself was beautiful inside as well. We were seated quickly and were given a good amount of time to review the menu. My colleague had a question about the menu and one of the cooks came out to address it, which was so nice of them. There were several options that all sounded delicious, but we decided to trust the menu and pick some of the indicated favorites, and they did not disappoint. We got some samosas, garlic naans and two types of curry. Everything was delicious, I wish I could have eaten more, but it was also super filling. I go to Reno fairly often for work, so Maharaja is definitely taking a top spot for me to go back to.

Went to Maharaja to see if it lived up to the hype. It was pretty good, but didnt quite live up to the expectations. Chicken Tikka - really nice flavor, really solid chicken tikka Coconut Korma - good chicken, nice coconut flavor and great curry texture Lamb Saag - very light on the spinach in the saag. Flavors were just ok Gobi manchurian - thick batter on the cauliflower, pretty good flavor, especially the shallots Samosa chaat - crispy and full of flavor Garlic naan - a little too thin and crunchy for my liking, and not quite enough garlic Mango lassi - thinner, more yogurt forward The service was good, they did check in frequently to make sure everything was going well.

The murals are absolutely stunning throughout the restaurant! We had a reservation and was seated promptly. Service was fast and servers were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Food was packed with flavor and so delicious! So we're the drinks! Will definitely be back.

New favorite Indian food in Reno! The service was quick and the food was delicious! The cilantro jalapeño naan bread was incredible! You can make reservations for larger groups or stop in with a smaller party. The space is beautiful and the food delicious! What more could you ask for?

Is there a lunch and/or dinner buffet? price?

They do not have a buffet. That being said, it has to be one of the best Indian food places in town with some unique dishes, great service and a warm, quite atmosphere.

The food is always delicious. We've been multiple times over the years and it never disappoints.read more

This is by far one of the worst Indian buffets I've ever been to…read more 1.) Options are limited somewhat. Two carts worth of food whereas others have three to four carts. 2.) No soup and salads are very limited and basic. 3.) Chicken Tikka Masala was very sweet but lacked any savoriness. I couldn't distinguish spices beyond the sweet taste. The sauce was so red that there is no way to make it that red with little to no distinguishable tomato base flavor that I can only deduce that they used a ketchup base and red dye. Ketchup because I swear I can taste a hint of ketchup under the sweet flavor. 3.) Goat curry was ok at first. It still lacked flavors that are the hallmark of Indian cuisine. However, they brought a new batch out and this batch was too salty. It overpowered any little flavoring that was there before. The meat wasn't as tender and you can tell the brine was overly salty because the goat meat was salty. 4.) The veggies were a complete miss for me. Again, no flavor other than sourness that is the yogurt. 5.) Chicken curry was mush. And the flavor was assaulting my senses that I found it weirdly... stale like a damp wash cloth left overnight. 6.) Naan was decent actually. Not as garlicky or buttery as some other places but it was fresh and crunch and fluffy. Too bad nothing was available to eat it with. Maybe it's off today or something but I can't forgive the $21.00 price tag. If it was $17 or less then I wouldn't bother with a review but after a 15% tip it was almost $25 I think.
