We were looking for something warm and comforting after a very cold, windy day working outside. We love Indian food but for some reason we don't eat it very often. This was exactly what we were looking for. The inside is very inviting and comfortable. We cozied up in a booth seat and settled in for what would be a perfect pick me up. We shared everything but the Saag Paneer was special. It was rich and full of spices. The appetizers, sauces, Lamb Masala were also worth noting. Their chai was also next level and the fact that you can get a refill on it, really made for a nice experience. I am also a fan of not overly sweet desserts and even better when there is cheese involved. It was floral, creamy and an excellent finish to our meal. The interior is so beautiful! For the table we had the veg platter, garlic naan, paneer korma, chicken coconut korma, and lamb vindaloo all at different spice levels. Food tasted great and priced well. They brought a communal bowl of rice which was small for 4 but said let them know if we needed more and we did and they brought more without a charge. The only negative is it took us 50 minutes to get our food. Yes it was a Friday night but the place was only 1/4 full so wasn't expecting that. read more

Okay, I love this place. The food here is sssooo good. Love the location and how it's not a pain to find parking. You walk into a beautiful blue dining area. Love the vibe. It feels like you're not in Reno. The staff is super friendly. I've only had Indian food a few times but this place is definitely number one. The staff is really good about offering recommendations. I absolutely love the spices and ingredients that Indian cuisine has! Of course, I had to have the buttered chicken and tikka masala. Everything is fresh. It takes a minute for the food to come out... but I'll gladly wait because you know it's been prepared fresh. We ordered the Veg Platter to try a little bit of the different appetizers. Maharaja's (Kings) and Rani's (Queens) seek no further. This is the best Indian food in Reno (until its not) and some of the best in the country--really. Having spent more than 15 years living near Devon Ave in Chicago (if you know you know, otherwise move along), I have a keen predilection for and sense of Indian food and Maharaja is it. I read some comments on it being expensive, but I don't much pay attention to this. Finding top notch food in Reno is a tribulation like no other and when I find it, price has no ceiling. That said, there were three of us (our phriend Guru BrewMaster RussT came after his shift at the beer factory), each having 2 drinks and food and the tab was $128 (at a Midtown restaurant)--if that's a lot for you Maharaja's and Rani's then a new kingdom you should seek. We sat at the bar. Service was great: staff were genuinely polite, interested in our POV and to meet their patrons. The bartender made RussT a bespoke one of a kind libation creation, and Russ was happier than Rudolph on his first flight with Santa (he kind of acts like this sometime but that's for another time). Food was A++ Had the veggie appetizer sampler: per my Rani this was "fried but not greasy and phenomenal" she was right Breads were all top notch--without the pools of oil that sometime come along with Naan Breads. Try the one with mashed potatoes--stellar. The server took the time to answer our questions and help guide us thru the menu as we were wanting to try new things. And she nailed it (Preeta ?) thank you! Everything was excellent. Great service. The food was flavorful and not greasy. The bathrooms were clean. Large parking lot for a midtown business. We ordered vegetable samosas, chicken pakora, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. The appetizers came with two sauces, the green one was more like a green salsa and the other was like a soy bbq. We found a new Indian restaurant to try! It was Saturday night and we didn't have reservations but they sat us right away! We must have beat the crowd. The waiter Rahul told us that the chef was born in the North of India. Thus, they are known to be a little less spicy than Southern India's food. We ordered a few dishes with a mild to medium spice level. You can choose your spice level. They offer an entire page of Vegan and Vegetarian dishes which made my daughter happy! We ordered a side of Flower rice which had raisins, cashews, carrots, peas and spices! $5.00! We also ordered the Samosa Chaat which was a delight that had chickpeas , yogurt, and a tamarind sauce! OMG! Delicious appetizer! The Vegetable Coconut Korma was also amazing! My husband ordered Raj's Chicken. It was chicken coated with chickpea batter sautéed with mangoes and onions. He loved it but it was a little on the spicy side for me. The flavors of the dishes just melted in our mouths! This is our new favorite Indian restaurant! Food was good, but servers were rude and unwelcoming. We left before eating the most recent time (we've gone 5 times previously) as a server berated us for being "too loud" - nevermind we were never louder than if we'd been at a church service. All we did was ask to move tables because of the air conditioning blowing directly on some of our party. If they'd been full, maybe I could see his frustration, but 90% of the tables were open. He then told our (only) female member of the party to be quiet when ordering, and that was it. Sad to not be patronizing this place any longer. Filling and tasty Indian food in a funky, reclaimed club space setting! The service was some of the friendliest and kindest I have yet to experience in Reno! The dishes are very aesthetically plated and presented. I really liked the eggplant dish baygan bharta it was not something I have ever tried before and it was super delicious. The saag paneer was also tasty and decadent. The mango lassi was so sweet and yummy I soaked it up in 2 minutes! I liked the biryani as well it was nicely seasoned and the rice fluffy. The daal was a little bland and heavy. The fried veggie pakoras were heavy too much batter but the green sauce they came with was so herby, fresh and zingy. Overall, we really enjoyed the restaurant and the food and I would come back to try all the meat dishes I didn't get a chance to try because we decided to order only vegetarian! read more

As a Reno local, having a new Indian spot was just what we needed. We decided to check out the new restaurant and immediately was impressed by the cleanliness and all of the amazing artwork that was commissioned out, you can see it from the outside and all around the inside of the establishment. The owner definitely has a keen eye for ambiance! Now to the food - which was AMAZING. I opted for the masala chai to try out, and it was perfect. I also got the tandoori chicken at the spiciest level they can go, and it was certainly delicious, tender, and full of flavor. My husband opted for the chicken tikka masala and he loved it! I tried some too, and it certainly was delicious. The naan was also very good paired with our dishes, I had the plain and my husband had the garlic option. Both, indeed - were great. The service was very efficient and they were all so nice and great to us. I certainly appreciated it, and you can tell that they all care for their establishment. Best newer Indian food restaurant in Reno! I was pleasantly impressed to find this affordable, delicious, beautiful gem of a restaurant. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaged. The taste of each dish was a delicious experience of multiple spices that star in your taste buds with a grand finale. We tried two appetizers and 3 main dishes alongside our cocktail and glass of Riesling. We were delighted and full by the dishes. The restaurant is beautiful and a great place to gather with family, friends, or an intimate date. We will be back for a meal very often. I'm glad I read all the Yelp reviews cause I would have missed trying this out. It's close enough to Reno little theater or any of the concert venues. The food was remarkable here! It's not only the best Indian food restaurant locally, it's one of the better places to eat in Reno. We tried the paneer 65, and veggie samosas for appetizers. Overall 4.7 for a great first dinner experience at Maharaja Royal Bites. We met friends there for dinner and to try out the new place. They have a huge menu with tons of choices, each labeled with dietary descriptors such as dairy and gluten-free. The four of us ordered different dishes: the chicken coconut korma, the butter chicken, and two chicken biranyi plates. We also ordered a plain naan and the naan with the mashed potatoes inside it. Everything was delicious. The flavors were all deep, rich and quality tasting. I don't have much experience with Indian food, but I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we had. My favorite was the butter chicken! The service was kind and gracious from many of the serving staff who checked in on our table. Later in the evening, we found out that there was a party of 20 while we were there, which did explain why we didn't see any servers for sporadic periods of time. Our server apologized for the inconvenience, but since we were not in a rush of any kind, it was fine for us. It is a beautifully decorated and renovated restaurant. Fun place to be. The minor negative we noticed was that it was very loud in the main dining room because of the acoustics. It did get quieter as more guests left during the evening. My hubby and I (and our friends) would certainly return to try out even more dishes, so that we can explore all of the Indian dish offerings and flavor combinations.
