    Beef platter

Beef platter. Comes with rice, fries and eggplants! These guys are fast and efficient. This is a top notch halal cart. In my opionion it's better than the ones in the city.

Came here because of reddit rec. We came back twice, got the chicken shawarma flatter first, and chicken rice flatter second. The meat was seasoned well albeit a bit dry for my liking. As a texture person, I loved the fries and eggplant included. Also tried their kebab and falafel. See ratings below: - chicken shawarma platter with brown rice: 7.5/10, well seasoned, a bit dry - chicken rice platter with brown rice: 6.5/10, chicken was a little dry and salty for me, though my husband loved it - beef kebab: 6.5/10, well seasoned but meat was a bit dry and tough - falafel: 9/10, had this fresh and it was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, honestly I'd come back just for this.

I think this may be the most overrated mixed platter in New York. The chicken was oddly sweet, and the lamb tastes pretty ordinary to what you'd find. The freshness of the onions, tomato, lettuce saved it for me. The roast eggplant did blow me away though. With the tahini and hot sauce the eggplant on its own is a 5/5 and really saved this from a sub 3 star review.

The chicken was dry and there was light sauce. That would've been okay if the chicken and gyro wasn't dry. The rice was bland, and the gyro was typical of other halal carts. However, the chicken was seasoned well. The service was quick and the portions were standard. The fries were soft and could use more salt. BBQ sauce is available, which I liked to pair with the white and red sauces. Overall, I wouldn't return as there are better halal spots in Astoria.

Solid Halal food truck experience Excellent falafel sandwich Be sure to ask for extra white sauce as part of the sandwich gets a bit dry. Fried eggplant is a great touch French fries on the sandwich not so much I will go back and customize my sandwich $5 a sandwich is a bargain Service is friendly and quick Check them out when you are in the area.

The addition of eggplant is genius wow I loved everything in this plate. There's rice, fries, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, eggplant, chicken, and lamb in this mixed plate and it's all topped by the essential white and red sauces. All the flavors melt together so well I felt like Remy the rat with his strawberry and cheese eating this.

Tasted decent, priced average $10 a platter but the portion is small. It photos well, but the plate is extremely shallow. I get inflation etc but it's getting ridiculous and when comparing other carts with this one makes me feel somewhat cheated. Don't get the sandwich, def not worth it.

    Fast. Falafel is crunchy.

We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and Mix Grill entrees for our party of 7. I would say it's a pretty simple and standard order. No deviations, substitutions, or anything out of the ordinary. Despite that, our drinks took ~20 minutes, the appetizers took 30+ minutes, and our entrees 30+ minutes after that. The Mint Lemonade was so small and tasted artificial. For ~$9, I expect more. The only appetizers worth trying are the Hummus Baba Ganouj, and Falafel. Everything else sadly missed the mark. The Fatoush & Tabouleh were promising but pretty sad. It lacked dressing (lemon and olive oil), flavor, and there were way too many unnecessary lettuce leaves on or around the bowl. I did enjoy the Zikrayat Mix Grill. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and juicy, the rice was light and fragrant, and it was filling. I found the appetizers to be overpriced and along with the extremely slow service, I didn't leave feeling like it was worth it. I don't think I'll be back.

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.

The chicken was a little dry but it was still flavorful and delicious. A little hint of Sumac. What I would recommend is management to take a little more precautions on their customers. We ordered their famous Mixed Feteer, which is basically like their house pizza. And it took about 20 minutes to make and I totally understand that it gets a little busy but we have to prioritize the first customers all the way to last. The restaurant has about 20 seats (tables for 2 or 4) & more set up on the sidewalk. I got: $30.00 1/2lb Scallops (8 pieces) $18.54 1/2lb Tiger Shrimp (grilled, 8 pieces) $6.99 Side of Beets $6.99 Side of Babaganoush $2.99 1 medium 20fl oz. Poland Spring Water I was 1 of 2 early diners at the restaurant & everything came out pretty fast. The small cut up beets were delicious! There were big chunks of garlic marinated with it. Not a huge fan of Babaganoush, but wanted to try this there and it was very creamy & good too (no real strong flavor, a healthy drizzle of olive oil on top). IDK if the sides have been this size pre-NYTimes, but they are extremely small (6" diameter plate) for $6.99. There is lots of olive oil drizzle on top of things, take note if you're limiting oil. The bread that came with it was either overcooked - or it might have been the typical style? It was EXTREMELY leathery & almost dark tan pita-cracker like. I ate it with the meal but got extremely tired of chewing. Not sure if you can ask for free refills of bread. A google search for "Egyptian bread" shows some decent Soft puffy pita. There was a case with drinks: soda, mango juice, mediterranean fruit juice, maybe beer? The seafood was VERY fresh. Scallops large, very Lightly seasoned with a reddish seasoning. Was just slightly underdone for me but still good. The Tiger Shrimp was Excellent & cooked perfectly. It comes sitting on top of a pool of oil and seasonings/parsley, but the flavor wasn't strong enough for me to make out. I'm not sure what Egyptian seasoning for seafood is or should taste like; it wasn't very noticeable on the items that I ordered. Seems like the freshness of all the dishes were the focus. Staff is nice & attentive. The owner was at the table next to me putting in weekend orders. Chatted with him about a new café on the block. A few solo diners come in casually & seemed familiar with the place. Glad I tried it, but probably wouldn't go back because of the price point.
